In the Battle for Casanovia, Steve successfully led the city against Silas Zoran's portion of Malorek’s army. Now, the companions plan to divide as they travel throughout the kingdom in hopes of uniting the Primary Cities to aid in the battle to reclaim Celestial.

A fast paced book with a wonderful variety of characters. This novel also makes a good examination of the various characters' ethics. I am elderly and the novel contains passages which examines things which while at first seem anachronistic but actually reflect the views and feelings of today's young people which was very good for me to read and consider. One suggestion would have been to have more exposition as the characters were reintroduced; it had been quite awhile since I read the 3rd volume and my memory of the various people was sketchy.
A truly magnificent grimdark, epic, sword and sorcery fantasy novel with characters fighting for the light of Alazar, the God they believed in, against the evil of Zebulon, the God of darkness. In this book the city of Celestial has fallen to the might of Malorek and our group of elects who all wielded the magical powers of the elements went their separate ways in order to gain allies to their cause. During their travels to the various sectors of the Empire they all encountered heart stopping difficulties and some even lost their lives. Till they finally all meet up in Almeria, the city agreed upon, and preparations were underway to attack and take back Celestial. However the elects amongst whom was the future king Stephen were betrayed. Someone who they trusted and who was close to them had leaked their whereabouts to Malorek and they were attacked at night whilst totally unprepared. Many lost their lives even before the real battle began. They were attacked by Malorek’s army of gigantic and savage monsters who also wielded their own powers. Can they ever gain back enough power to march onward to Celestial now that their forces had already been depleted? This book has very heart wrenching moments, showing that no on really ever wins in a war. Many a beloved character lost their life in this book yet the ones who are left will not give up on their dream of a free Empire. I love that the book is all about respect between different races living together as well as for equality between the sexes, is also against hate speech and shows political correctness towards gay relationships. There is also some romance and there be dragons amidst the battles and strife. I am dying to know who betrayed Steve and cannot wait to read the next book in this The Story of Evil.
I had been looking forward to the 4th installment of the series since the moment I put book 3 down. I was craving answers to questions and cliffhangers from the previous 3 books and looking forward to learning what happened to my favorite characters and this book delivered! Like the other books in the series, this book was fast-paced and hard to put down with dynamic characters and lots of action. Now I’m back to waiting for the final book to have the rest of the mysteries answered!
Have loved these books from the first page. Tony does a great job bringing the characters to life An epic adventure with twists and turns and I’m not sure I want it to finish . Looking forward to the next episode
Tony Johnson’s first book in this series was very impressive and engaging and action filled. Each volume has gotten better in each of these categories and this fourth book is the best of the bunch. I eagerly await the concluding volume and recommend this series very highly.
