This book came to me through Voracious Readers, and my review is honest and unbiased.
To start with, I thought this book was set in about the 1930s due to the speech used. I'm still unclear as to what time frame to give it. It was also confusingly written in past, present, third person, and from both mc's. So you can understand the confusion.
It was quite unnecessarily long, and drawn out, and for no good point. Basically, two hurt people letting their pasts define who they were in the present, along with a lot of assumptions.
Pretty much, a heap of rich people flying all over the world just because they can.
I was a bit sad (being a NEW Zealander) to read the authors description of Christchurch, its 22 kms from the gondola to the airport, and the gardens there are not that old, or famous. A tree was planted in 1863 that formed the basis of the gardens that are there today, but the actual gardens are not that old.
Anyway, the story itself had great potential, but got swallowed up in a lot of unnecessary 'stuff'
I had a hard time with this book. I think the story has a lot of potential, but the third person omniscient narrator made the story confusing at times. We would skip back and forth between characters and time periods with no warning. At times I would be confused about who the narrator was talking about. I thought the characters were great, two lost souls with difficult pasts who find each other, but the story dragged on. There was a lot of lack of communication between the two main characters that at times was frustrating that they did not just speak their minds. This book is decent but I feel it could use some improving in the writing for a better flow for the story.
I received this book for an honest review via Voracious Readers Only.
I rounded up to 3 for this book. It has a good main plot and if frequent spelling/grammatical errors, awkward sentence structure, and non-labeled POV's does not bother you, then please do give this book a shot. Personally, I felt it made reading very confusing and eventually lead me to rush through the ending to get it over with.
Mostly I felt frustrated by these main characters because the whole book is miscommunication after miscommunication and overreaction.
This book was unnecessarily long and I thought the main characters were unlikeable. I didn't hate them, I just thought they were weak and unwilling to ever step up. There were way too many chances for them to speak to each other and they didn't. TWO kidnappings in one book? Hmmm. MAYBE this book could have been split in two but it was meandering and confusing. I also never actually got the 'racing' part. It was referred to but never explored. All this being said it had good bones but definitely needed a skilled editor.
Collisions is an easy romantic story of two people who have let their past get in the way of their future. Jet setting people trying to make time for meaningful relationships while at the same time trying desperately to keep from getting hurt again! A lot happens when you let the past get in the way of your future and your circle of friends is very tight. In the end it all works out, so it was a nice afternoon read.
Overall a good read. I was a little confused at parts because I am not knowledgeable about Rally’s. It did seem a bit far fetched for one couple to go through so much turmoil but not to the point of eye rolling unrealistic scenes. It did keep me interested and engaged through out to find out if they would end up together.
I did enjoy this book by Ruth Gowan . I personally found it a little bit too long, as there were times I was like come on get your you know what together. Overall though the characters draw you in and have you rooting for them.
I received this book from Voracious Readers Only in exchange for an honest review. I finished this book in two days and can't wait for the next book. This book is about love loss and trauma. You will find yourself rooting for Sharon and Paul to figure out their complicated relationship.
This was an awesome book. With thrills, a little darkness, and mystery all happen when they collide. I hated finishing the story. I can hardly wait for the next book.
What a pleasure to read. I was gripped by this book from the start and remained so all throughout. The characters were believable and all the stories interlinked well.
An easy read to pass the time, decent enough book but I found the characters really weak in regards to being able to discuss anything at all really. Free copy though voracious readers
So not a bad read. If your one for an easy romance with fictional drama to get you through a couple of nights, this would be one to go for. Thanks for the copy Ruth Gowan through voracious readers.
Two people with heart break in past relationships meet at a wedding. Sharon gets swept into the water and Paul sees it happening and dives in to rescue her. Sharon has many issues with men after her husband was killed in a car accident with a lover. They have a connection, but both have homes and jobs where they travel in different directions. This is a novel that I did not want to put down. The story line kept my interest. I really liked how the story ended at this time.
Merged review:
Jemma pairs up with Garett for a road rally that lasts for days. They immediately connect to one another. Jemma is threatened and a near collision during the race was meant for her. Garett is from a royal family and Jemma is not. Can they overcome the obstacles to be together?
The characters are likeable enough but this book was very difficult to follow, often flitting back and forth between time periods and speakers without clear distinction. Multiple opportunities for happy endings sent awry due to one or both of the protagonists' emotional decision making. I loved the descriptions of various exotic locations around the world.
Merged review:
Like with the other stories in the Racing Hearts series, this one is a little easier to follow. It is very dark and violent and could have ended at numerous points before the actual ending, with natural conclusions and loose ends tied up. The drama of the race shows great research and you are definitely rooting for the protagonists.
"One of the hottest genres with an intriguing mix of hot romance thrills, dark mystery, and rivalry." The latest in the Racing Hearts series tell us about the woman all the other female and some male competitors love to hate. She has secrets and so does the hot alpha male she meets one night before a major event… Sparks and clothes fly and I'll let you read the rest.
