Marcus creates worlds that are at once painfully vast and undeniably human. The settings are fascinating and vivid, and the stories are relatable and beautifully poignant. I loved every one of these short stories, would recommend this book to anyone. Genuinely, so good.

Full of intriguing and original ideas, but these "stories" read more like excerpts from larger works. Things are described well, evoking fascinatingly different worlds and lives, but not much happens. They're more like "A Day/Week/Few Hours in the Life of" than true stories with challenges, climaxes, and conclusions.

Beautifully crafted stories which remind one of J.G. Ballard and Brian Aldiss. Brilliantly bleak, occasionally funny, deeply human.
