Crime Never Pays… Well yes and no depending on what side of the fence you’re on!

I’ve always had a strong passion for whodunnits, crime series, and books. The more I immersed myself in it, the stronger the fascination grew.

In my spare time, you’ll find me in the gym, reading, binge watching Netflix or taking walks in the forest.

Oh, and I’m an avid people watcher, I just love to watch people, their mannerisms, and their way of expressing their thoughts… weird I know, but I could spend hours doing that. It's funny, because watching people often gives me insights and inspiration for describing human interaction in my books.

Fun fact: My favourite, bestest place ever on earth? Any of the Florida theme parks and the mad coasters out there. Add the food, shopping and weather, and you've got the best place on earth... especially when I see the joy on the faces of my family when we're out there :)

Weird fact: Spending an afternoon in a mortuary to bring my books to life. Oops! poor choice of words there :)

I hope you enjoy the stories I craft for you.

Left To Fall is book 6 in Jay Nadal's DI Karen Heath series. DCI Karen Heath caught her first major case since moving to North Yorkshire of the death of a young mountain climber, Beth Hays. At first, they were not sure if it was murder or an accident until they started to look at the evidence. While handling her first case, things changed in her relationship with Zac. The readers of Left To Fall will continue to follow DCI Karen Heath's investigation to discover what happens.

Left To Fall is another fantastic addition to Jay Nadal's excellent series. I engaged with the story and the characters from the beginning until the end. I did enjoy that Jay Nadal highlighted a different side of domestic violence and how it affects everyone involved. I love Jay Nadal's portrayal of his characters and how they interact throughout this book. Left To Fall is well-written and researched. I like Jay Nadal's description of the settings of Left To Fall, which allowed me to imagine being part of the book's plot.

Left To Fall readers will learn about the beautiful North Yorkshire Natural Park, indoor mountain climbing, and the skills needed to win competitions.

I recommend this book.

Obsession.

Newly moved to York, Karen was delighted with her new job. Head of the new SCU, promoted to DCI, she had cherry picked her new team and persuaded her sergeant, Jade to move from the Met with her. The offices were clean and fully equipped with the latest tech. As a bonus, things were getting interesting with Zac, and she got on well with his daughter, Summer.
Now she needed a case to get her teeth into, to show her ability.
Be careful what you wish for - first suspicious death was a homeless man, beaten to death. Shortly after a experienced climber was found dead at the bottom of a climb, she had done a number of times before.
Good storyline throughout, slow finding more info. about the beaten man, the team have to rely on loads of CTV to pan through.
The female climber is more of a puzzle, on closer inspection, Jade finds her rope had been cut through. Climbers usually parked near the top, leaving supplies there, roped up, abseilled down and then started their climb. She had checked in at the shop and everything was normal, but all her belongings had gone from the top and there were claw marks at the edge where she had tried to cling on.

I’ve been reading this series of books one after another and thoroughly enjoyed the preceding five. I’ve given 4 stars but it could easily have been a 3. This felt very different from the earlier books. Maybe it was meant to be, as the lead character starts a new life away from London and the pace of life is a bit slower. Plus, she has a love interest and is more relaxed and playful. I miss her old life, even if she doesn’t! I’m hoping her Boss turns out to be an interesting character.
I found some parts a bit like a news article particularly regarding the domestic violence issue. Having said all that, I’m liking the series and will definitely work my way through them all and keep my fingers crossed. I like Jay Nadal’s writing, so hope this one is a slight blip

I loved this latest book about DCI Karen Heath. Her move to York and her reinstatement of her title presents her with a lot of new challenges. She has to adapt to a totally new environment (Yorkshire really is worlds away from London) and has to prove herself capable of running her new team and booking results. With the mysterious death of an experienced climber and virtually no solid evidence as to how and why she died, she has to fall back on good old fashioned police work to find a solution.
Jay has started using shorter chapters which make his books (which were already very easy and engaging to read), even better. Well recommended!

Falking

DI Karen Heath has a new job, a new city, a hot boyfriend and two perplexing cases. The first involves the !murder of a homeless man. The second the murder of a beautiful young woman who happened to be an accomplished climber. Karen wants to make a good impression by solving them both.

This book was one of the better ones in the series. It is fairly fast paced and the mysteties are decent. Karen is rather juvenile and not really convincing as a seasoned investigator. The domestic violence piece was a bit preachy. Still a satisfactory read.

Fantastic fast paced read!

I was activated by this book! It touched on some very real social issues in the world, Domestic Violence of the unseen person, mistreatment of the homeless, and stalking. And very realistically too. The research that went into this book must have been horrendous, but it was well worth it! I sure hope this isn't the end of DI Karen Heath, Ray, and her team! I have enjoyed it far too much for it to be over!

Quite why but DXI Karen Heath is so much better now she gas permanently transferred from the Met to North Yorkshire police based in York. Karen Heath has also persuaded her DS to transfer too A new squad formed and two different murders are their first cases. One of a homeless man and the second of a popular young woman in what at first looks like an accident.
