*** This book should be read in this order: Pretty Caged Bird, Tame Me, With Everything In Me***

The first time was not the charm when Julissa and Cody first meet. While their attraction to one another was instant, that quickly got overshadowed when they opened their mouths. Hers was reckless and his was offensive. These two were like oil and water in the beginning but, with some encouragement from their friends, Julissa and Cody were able to look past their horrible first impression and have a healthy relationship. Cody was such an awesome guy. He was patient, attentive, and was more than willing to help Julissa get past her trust issues while building up her self-esteem. I just love how hard Gray and Ross advocated for Julissa. She had some major insecurities so, they had no problem speaking positive affirmations to her. They were the best male friends any girl could have. Tame Me was a really sweet story. I loved the maturity of the friendships and how Cody didn't hold Julissa and Ross' situationship against her. I was going to ask for an update on everyone but, then I realized, Ross' book was they update. Oh, well. I sure hate the end has come for these characters but, I enjoyed it while it lasted.
Perfection! That’s really the only way to describe Julissa and Cody. Tame Me was a very appropriate title for their story. We know from Amina’s book that Julissa was a wild child, very free spirited and would pop the trunk on ya in a heart beat. Cody definitely tamed her and she settled him down as well. Julissa struggled with insecurities and feeling of self worth because of childhood bullying but you’d never know it based off the confidence she exudes on the outside. She had so many fooled but Cody saw right through her. He challenged those insecurities and wanted to be the one to help Julissa own her feelings of self worth. He wanted her to know without a doubt that she was worthy of love and genuine companionship with a man that was all about her beyond the physical. I absolutely loved the relationship they had with their families. Julissa and her mom’s relationship was so heartwarming. These are the types of mother daughter relationships I love reading about! Despite their rocky start, Cody really came into Julissa’s life at just the right time and truly healed her heart. He was the epitome of a grown man not with the games and showed how a relationship can really thrive when there is open and honest communication. KB tastefully captured the friendship amongst this group and I love how despite their past, Ross was right there rooting for Julissa and Cody’s happiness! I can’t wait to read about Ross meeting his match and finally settling down in the final book of this series!
This was such a good story….Initially, I was rooting for Ross & Julissa, then when Cody (one of his best friends) was introduced I could not imagine how the author was going to pull this off and make you root and cheer on this couple….BUT, it works….Julissa & Cody had a rough start but the attraction wasn’t always there between the two. Communication is key…after a few failed attempts and then finally coming together for a conversation, the couple started dating. The development of their relationship was effortless….they had the support of their family and friends….there were small obstacles…but it definitely worked out for the two of them. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Granny, she was hilarious.
This was absolutely beautiful. I read this series out of order, but this was my absolute favorite out of all the books. The way Cody and Julissa started was hella rough. Words were exchanged, a little life threat. But, fear not. There's a reconciliation....only it did not go well again. But third time, right.... I don’t usually have book baes, but if I were to have one, Cody would definitely be in the running. Everything he did exudes "grown man" like he wasn’t on some little boys shît. From his communication skills to him pursuing Julissa 🥰🥰 Julissa, to me was like a a ticking bomb. Anything could set her off. But I get it, I understood why she was like that. But I LOVED HER. Her insecurities, loyalty and her heart made her real. I would’ve loved to see her in therapy or something. But her friends and Cody were soo good to her. Cause, by the end of the book she was a different person. This was excellent read. I highly recommend the series. I've read a few books by Kimberly Brown, and she never disappoints. So it's safe to say this will not be my last from her catalog.
Queen Kimberly dropping books like a 90's R&B group, lbvvs. This beauties work gets better and better with each release. I saw so much of myself in Amina and when she finally told Cody her truth I shed a few tears, cause I felt that sh*t. Cody set out to prove that all men aren't the same and that he see her and not just what's on the outside. The way he pursued her and the surprise picnic😍. Cody was so patient with her and he wasn't afraid to call her on her ish. I truly loved reading their story and getting an update on Gray & Amina and Ross crazy as* was a bonus💕
Mrs. Brown is keeping them rolling in. She has come with all the 💨 and I'm here for it. I was so glad to catch back up with Gray, Amina, Julissa, and Ross. Cody was a new addition to the crew, but he slid right in. Cody came home from the military just in the nick of time. Julissa needed someone to love her unconditionally besides her family and Amina. The love that developed between the two of them was a secure bond. I loved how Cody learned Julissa love language along with patience until he finally convinced her he was the man for her.
This is another marvelous work of art by Mrs. Brown. I have to admit, I was really impressed by Ross' maturity. I did not know what his reaction was going to be. I also think that Gray and Cody settling down caused him to want to settle. He turned out to be a true friend and sweet. You will fall in love with this young, friend turned family circle. I cannot conclude this review without mentioning Cody's grandparents, they were a handful. I enjoyed their banters and you will too. I highly suggest this book.
Another awesome read by this author. Each book I've read gets better and better, I can't wait to see what's next. Enjoyed the storyline and these characters and I couldn't put it down. Definitely, a page-turner that flowed really well at a steady pace. Very well written and the characters were well developed. Julissa, was something else with a reckless mourh, as a defense to hide her insecurities. Cody, was attracted to her at first sight just not her beauty, but what was within. He broke down her defense and healed her insecurities and showed her real love. So loved how everything turned out. Highly recommend this standalone. Awesome job Kimberly Brown.
I enjoyed this story. I didn't quite feel the connection between Jules and Cody and I think it's because I had so much love and respect for the care that Ross gave to her. He was a friend that understood her, but also practiced patience with her when she was in her mood. I honestly can't wait for his story because whoever he ends up with is going to be a lucky lady. I love the way this author shows families whole, supportive and loving. Looking forward to more from Kimberly Brown!
This was so real. As African-american women so many of us struggle with self esteem. We get knocked down on so many sides the we learn to protect self at all cost. What a beautiful story of hope and restoration!! Thank you for the journey, Ms. Kimberly Brown
I knew I'd like Julissa, aka Juju, aka Jules, from the previous books she's been mentioned in. She's super loyal and a wild card, yet has a great big heart. The fact that she pops off and says she'll 'pop the trunk' or threatens you with pinky, her gun, are some of the most hilarious moments for me about her🤭. I liked her free spirit, yet hated that her being her, led to insecurities and anxiety due to other stupid people's opinions and past treatment of her. She was solid and had a great support system within her parents, 2 brothers, Amina (her best sister friend), Gray (Aminas' fiancee/baby-daddy/husband), and Ross (Gray's best friend and her screw-buddy turned close friend). All those people were her village and I'm glad she had them. I kind of wish she'd kept her word and not messed with Ross. Even though it was purely platonic and all sex, they should've just became friends without the benefits. I do applaud Ross for stepping back so Julissa could try to make things work with Cody. He was a true friend to them both and I loved that. He also didn't mind calling Jules out, yet not so harshly that she'd shut him out, yet enough to have her see the error of her ways.
Speaking of Cody, let me state, for the record, that I Love a man in uniform😏. I figured he was a solid dude from just being around the likes of Gray and Ross, who were pretty good men. I loved that Cody was straight with Ross about how he felt about him having a sexual relationship with Julissa and I like how Ross let him know it was over and that was all there was to it. No passing her around type of stuff. Ross genuinely wanted them both to be happy and together. Grown man ish'😏. Cody was pretty loose at the mouth at first with Julissa and I was kind of wondering if they'd ever get past an argument to truly take interest and have a calm conversation and try to date. It wasn't looking to good at first, yet they both were able to pull back a bit and get to see each other for who they really were. I like that Gray and Ross, even Amina, let Cody know how he'd have to handle Julissa and they all had her back; letting him know she was worth the trouble. He took their advice and the love between them was very enticing to read. He was open and honest with her, yet patient and caring too.
The family's of Cody and Julissa we're equally funny and loving. That grandma of Cody's was a whole trip, yet I loved her. I hope, if there's an update on this crew, that we see more of her.
This was a great book. I like the way Kimberly Brown tells a story. While there were many repetitive parts, the overall story was good.
When I say Julissa and Cody did not start out on good terms, that's an understatement. She threatened to pop the trunk on him because of an argument. Cody is back home from the military and he rounds out Ross and Gray's trio. At the time he comes home Julissa and Ross are friends with benefits, but that's it. They can actually hang out, be friends, have sex, and there's non of the extra bull. Jalissa has anxiety and insecurities about her past surrounding men, but she just wants a meaningful relationship. If she gives Cody a chance, she may find what she's looking for.
I was all about this book. Ross knew what Jalissa needed because of their relationship and closeness so him putting his pride aside and letting Jalissa know there was no "passing her around" was exceptional. He realized something between Cody and Jalissa and he couldn't let her lose her chance.
Cody! Whoody whoooo! He’s the one! Can I get one! Makes me think of Joe’s song “I wanna know” . That should be the theme song to this book. Julissa has been through the ringer in childhood and adulthood especially being put through it by men. It impacted her so much it made her insecure about somethings and question everything. Cody was home after being in the military for 10 years. He’d experienced military life and all that it brings. He could have a hot head, quick temper and slick mouth when provoked. He new that he wanted something real with someone and was willing to put in the work to do it. These two had sparks flying for many reasons and it wasn’t always pretty. My favorite quote was “Bullshit. You are just as hotheaded. I thought maybe y’all would cancel each other out.” He laughed. Their story was very enjoyable to read!
Not my favourite KB book but it was good. At risk of sounding insensitive I'll admit that I like Jules more in the other book, it felt like I got less attached to her in this book.
Low key had to bring down my celebrations at the razor blade part💀. The errors in this one were more prominent so they took away from the story, at some point it felt wholly repetitive and I wasn't for that.
Edit: why did she start calling Cody daddy? It felt even more like I was reading the first book. That's also why it felt repetitive, some lines of the dialogue were in book 1. I did not care for the cliches that stared me right in the iris. No thank you
Also, very incesty the vibes I got when she started referring to Ross as her brother - very weird but we move.
But besides all that I'm just glad she got her happy ever after
First read by this author, and she definitely brought it for this one! There was a twinkling of the eyes and a spark when Cody and Julissa met, only for it to end in a big blowup! However, the two continue to bump into each other, due to their friend circle. They both were a bit reckless with their mouths, and that caused them problems in the beginning, but after some conversation, they were able to tone it down. Julissa had serious trust issues, and her guard was way up. Cody was patient, understanding, supportive and loving while learning of her past and what made her tick. I was a bit nervous about the whole Ross situation, but they all handled it very maturely. Cody and Julissa's love grew very quickly, and it changed them both for the better. Enjoyable read! 👍👍👍
I must say Ms. Brown did her best work! Cody and Jules story resonated with me. Cody was everything a man should be. He was patient, attentive and willing to give the love Jules desired. I hate that Jules went through so much but in the end she gain all she had been looking for a more. The maturity of friendship is this book should be admired. I love the way Amina, Gray, and Ross all loved Jules. I don’t want to give too much away but it’s a must read.
I’m so happy that Kimberly was able to show the maturity in this group of friends. Specifically with the situation with Ross, JuJu and Cody. Not many men would be able to handle that particular event. I’m happy that JuJu got her happily ever after, she deserved it! Click buy and be happy!
It was a good story. Dealing with a woman that is damaged with insecurities is a lot and not something all men can handle. This book focused on that. Julissa deserved her happily ever after and I was happy to see Cody give that to her despite their mishaps in the beginning.
This was my favorite couple and book of the series. It was light on the drama and heavy on the love and affection. Julissa grew so much and Cody was there to affirm her the entire way. They started out rocky but even with that you could feel their chemistry and anticipate how their love would reflect throughout the rest of the book. I recommend this book as well.
Julissa’s story was so beautiful! The way Cody came in and irritated everything was perfect! 😆😆 I loved it so much. To see her growth throughout the story was great as well! Both families were so amazing but Cody’s grandparents? 😆🤣😂 Especially his grandmother! I would say more but I don’t want to give too much away. Great love story!
Another good read by this author. The Ross situation made me uncomfortable but that’s just how I’m made🤷🏽♀️. I’m glad these two got themselves together and gave their relationship a try👏🏽👏🏽🥳🥳. Loved the ending. I recommend this book👍🏽👍🏽
I loved Julissa and Cody’s story. Julissa’s story really moved me. . The way Cody made it his business to knock down every wall she held up was beautiful to watch unfold. Well written and I loved the funny moments just as much as the tender moments.
Phenomenal story I was so proud of the girls they went though some things to get to there happiness but they made it I love Cody granny and papa they a mess good 3 book series ✔️
This story made you think about your reflection of yourself. The way you feel deep down about yourself. Some childhood traumas can stay with you forever until you're willing to face them.
I loved that fact that Ross was s true friend to Jules. He wanted what was best for her and he knew he wasn't it and stepped aside and here comes Cody. Love it
Great second book. Loving these characters. Julissa and Cody’s story was very enjoyable. Julissa was a diehard friend but was very insecure. Was introduced to Cody by her friends and he showed her a HEA.
I was so happy for JuJu. She had been through so much. But she finally found happiness in the form of Cody. The language was a little much that is the reason for the 4🌟🌟🌟🌟.
This series is coming along nicely. I loved Julissa's story because it gave me a chance to get to know the girl who refuse to allow a man to get close to her. Although she had trust issues and Cody definitely got under her skin, she had a support system that encouraged her to give him a chance. What I loved about Julissa was her growth in being more open and actually giving Cody a chance. It was definitely worth it because he showed her that all men aren't the same. The friendships and family dynamics was a plus also. I was happy that Julissa got her happily ever after.
Happy to see Juju find love. Cody was the right man for the job. Lots of spelling errors and grammatical errors but it didn't take aw ay from the book.
