A quiet fishing day between two best friends, C.J. Duncan and Purvis Webb, unravels as unexpected intruders challenge their peace. In the spirit of epic fish stories told over the years, Fish Tale weaves unexpected twists and turns to keep you guessing.
This short story is a companion piece to Liars' Table and is only available from the author's website.
Many years ago, D.K. Wall regaled a group of co-workers with a colorful story. One lady wiped tears of laughter from her eyes. "I wish I had been there."
"But you were."
"Yes, but you remember it better than I do."
That's the art of story telling. Begin with a nugget of truth. Highlight the interesting. Surround with imagery. Weave fact and fiction to create an engaging tale. Remember it better.
D.K. has lived his entire life in the Carolinas—the highest elevations of the Great Smoky Mountains, the industrial towns of Gastonia and Hickory, the financial center of Charlotte, and the coastal salt marsh of Murrells Inlet. He’s watched the textile and furniture industries wither and the banking and service industries explode, changing the face of the region.
Married and living in Asheville, surrounded by his family of rescued Siberian Huskies known as The Thundering Herd, D.K. takes the characters and tales of his lifetime of experience and remembers them better for your entertainment.
Funny and a delight to read! I have (actually had-they're gone now) uncles and a couple of Aunts from "the holler" in KY that could spin you a story that was so believable you were sitting on the edge of your seat so enraptured you were unaware of things going on around you! And my Aunt Grace and Aunt Hazel, on lordy could they spin a story, all encompassing scriptures! Some serious, but most were humorous to get and keep your attention! But my Uncles, well now that's a different story! Just like this story! Yes, this IS a short, but it's still a published book! And, as I bypassed my challenge already, I figured well why not match last year's challenge of 50 (even tho I bypassed that too!😀😀) I did enjoy this..it's cute, and a chuckler..so go grab that bowl of popcorn and glass of ice tea and great yourself to an enjoyable read!--P/
