Nicholas Bella is scheming something bigger, I've gotten the suspiction after reading Outlawed: Lords of Chaos MC, the first instalment into ❛Road to Carnage Series❜. It's conflictive matter when authors porpose themselves to write an entire book series with the richest enviroment possible, because of writing this kind of book entails a great world-building development 🗺️ ❥ This author gets what they wanted and the readers can read the results of a well done work, but sometimes this kind of exercise involves samall issues into the narrative pacing. Hence, my three stars 🌟
◾ Outlawed: Lords of Chaos MC stands out two MCs into the ❛House of Cards❜ which is Lords of Chaos MC, the motorbike club they belong to. These two men are brothers in arms and by bood, given that they're members of Murphy family, whose relatives ruled the clubhouse since its origins.
Ace is the oldest brother, and Sergeant At Arms, his POV shows us the clubhouse lifestyle―❛outlawed❜ as the main title suggest―but this POV also involves the begginings of a intense love story between him and a cute Japanese boy who was seriously abused by dirty cops. Kenshin awakes the soft spot into Ace's heart and the man doesn't hesitate to save the younger ❤️🩹 Ace wants Kenshin to stay with him at the clubhouse in order to protect him from Randal―the main rapist―and his accomplices while they scheme the perfect plan with which take revenge. Kenshin and Ace are poles appart 🧲, but they're inevitably attracted to each other and fall in love quickly and irrevocably ❥
Meanwhile, Dragon is serving sentence after being caught dealing with drugs, hence the author had decided to give this character the other main role, thus we've also be able to put ourselves in the shoes of a convict ⛓️ Dragon is only six months left to be free, but Richard's arrival stokes a fiery desire within him like ever felt ❥ Richie is scared and he needs to be protected by someone, so after trying to use money for get it and being rejected, he has to surrender to the inevitable and the poor man decides to buy his protection in exchage of having sex with Dragon, his new cellmate 💸
◾Positives: ✔️ World-building―or may I have to say Club-building?―is pretty wide and well written 🚔 🏍️ I made a joke while I started reading this book, making a comparison between Murphy family members and Buendía family relatives from Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez because the latter is a hulking mess of character mulling around. I could never forget the seventeen Aurelianos, for God's sake! 🤯 Seriously, Murphy family don't get so far, but nearly. Nicholas Bella saves a final page from this book to explain everything of clubmembers and its different ❛chapters❜ across Orlando, Miami and Tampa. It is grateful being gifted with this ❛Character Glossary❜, because I lost count of every child Dasan―MC's father―has with his wife and who were his ancestors and the whole offspring 😵 Honourable mention to Maverick―Ace and Dragon's brother―, who makes babies like a rabbit on heat🐰
✔️ ❛Dual POV❜ starred by Murphy brothers ❥ This positive trait could be a negative one, but I preferred to value te good things which this matter add to the plot. Mainly, the greater dynamism in reading, which makes this book a quick and easy read. I didn't get bored for a moment because POVs exchanging was a patron and different problems were happened to each brother 💣 I have to say that the main plot goes to Ace's POV, being the Kenshin's revenge 😈 the leivmotiv, which left Dragon's POV like a kind of prologue of his futures problems against law, so readers only could read his first steps into his relationship with Richie, which gets better at the end of the novel. Despite of that, Nicholas Bella paves the way for the future war against The Hellraiser Knights MC ⚔️ , which stands out like a ❛road to carnage❜, and turbulent bussness with The Castiello Corporation 💀
✔️ ❛Road To Carnage❜ at its finest 🩸 Lords of Chaos MC members don't play games, let alone their ❛Sergeant at Arms❜, Ace 💀 He doesn't hesitate to kill a person in a messy way which delights us with a feast of gory details:
❝Knives were Ace's weapon of choice, and he was lethal as fuck with the blades. He enjoyed the fact that he could kill a man and not make a lot of noise ❞ 🗡️
✔️ Tons of diversity 🧏🏽 and LGBTQIA+ rep 🏳️🌈 This MC is not like others, thanks to granny, club's founder decided to welcome diversity and allys with open arms. Dasan's offspring is quite open with their sexuality in spite of some club rules are filled with stereotypes, but I think that this is the way the real life motorcycle clubs, which follow traditional values, deal with women and their personal relationships: Princesses, Old Ladys, Property Ofs, etc. 🤷🏻♀️
◾ Negatives: ❌ Kenshin and Ace's insta-love 🤨 I can buy an insta-lust, which is starred by Dragon, but insta-love are strong words. I have to talk again about the ❛Dual POV❜ and its negative side, because this lovestory resented by the choice of telling the story. Book's lenght added to the prior trait makes the Ace's lovestory pops up too early.
❝I just knew I felt something for you. It was probably when you took off your shirt and gave it to me. You didn't have to, but you wanted to try keep me warm and protected❞ 🌺🌷
*SPOILER*
Furthermore, we must add the slight weight of the sexual assault suffered by Kenshin. This terrible experience should have bigger impact into his mind and behavior and gain importance when it comes to get physical with Ace. He only demands to his love interest no penetrative sex yet ⛔, but he is pretty confident with oral or being tactile with Ace 🤔, thus this is not a real or normal behavior after being raped the worst way ever, let alone after being marked physicaly by an great assortment of bruises and offensive tats 🤡
*SPOILER END*
❌ Bad lenght and pacing 🙄 The previous negative point made me cut it two stars. The book is short and if we add the ❛Dual POV❜ in addiction to the rushed pacing of the plot, it is quite lacked of content without stuffled stuff, for example, Dragon's POV adds nothing of value to the main plot, it could have perfectly been kept aside for the following instalment, thus his story could be expanded properly. In the end I've said the negatives of ❛Dual POV❜ 🤐 My bad.
I consider that this is a good prelude for what is yet to come, but being honest with myself I wanted more content, more of Dragon and Richie cuteness that we only read at the end of the story ❥ I am enough interested in the plot in order to continue this series 😚 Plus, there are a lot of fascinating characters who are not being enough developed and I'm anxiously expecting to read about their backstories: ❛Hi, Gina!❜
This apparently well built ❛House of Cards❜ 🃏 is ready to crash onto the floor!
I really wanted to read this because the blurb sounded really good. I’ve read a few books by this author before but it has been a long time. Sadly, this just wasn’t good. This book is filled with stereotypes and the worst dialogue I’ve read in a long time:
“Tell me about it. I mean, I love the product of my cum gremlins, but they are straining the fuck out of my finances.”
“Besides, that only happened because the condom broke when I fired off and my soldiers beat the shit out of her egg until they got in.”
This is all within the first few pages and there is just so much more. I started skimming after about 20%. The story seemed to ping pong between one characters POV to another’s in the next paragraph at times and I hate it when that happens. And every single person in this family was soooo hot. The brothers, the sisters, the mom was described as a milf the dad as a silver Fox, even the grandmother!
Unfortunately this did not work for me at all.
*ARC received in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own
Nicholas Bella, is one of my favorite Erotica M/M’s writer. The first book of his new series, Lords Of Chaos MC: OUTLAWED, is awesome!! I love it!!! 🏍🏍🏍🏍🏍
4.5 stars. First, it’s an absolutely great read! But omg when I started reading I wanted to scream ‘I can’t handle it. ALL those names and everyone had also a member name. I wanted to throw my kindle through the window. Im so bad with names. But hey, I’m a diehard, and so I just read on. Thank goodness I did. It was an amazing story!
There are two parallel storylines, about two brothers and sons of the president of the and mc. One: Ace who saves Kenshin. He was enslaved, abused, and saw a chance to escape his tormentor. He run to Ace and asked for help. Ace is so smitten with Kenshin. Two: Dragon who’s behind bars and wants the virgin ass of fresh new inmate Richard with who he’s sharing a cell. Richard needs protection but oh boy what he has to trade for it.
A story with rough and tough vicious men, willing to kill enemies and certainly dirty cops. It just did it for me. An awesome story, convincing, quite captivatingly, and consistently written. Motor Club members through and through. Loyalty and family are everything. I loved Ace and Kenshin and I loved Dragon and Richard. Can’t wait for the continuation!
Outlawed is the first in the Road to Carnage series by Nicholas Bella. I love a good dark and gritty MC romance. Crass language, their own rules, and rough around the edges men. So I was excited to read this and then very disappointed. My favorite part was how inclusive the MC was with its Bisexual, gay , and pan characters. That's about all the liked of the book though 🤷♀️
I don't want to completely tear this book apart, but I will say I was shocked this wasn't the author's first book, but that she had 20+ releases under her name and they all had a 4 star average ratings . Anyway, Outlawed follows two separate relationships, one between Ace & Kenshin, the other between Dragon and Richard. That was the first problem, I have no idea why the author chose to do that. The only connection between the two is that Dragon and Ace are brothers and in the same MC. On top of that, when you are reading a chapter it switches POV randomly, a few paragraphs from Ace's perspective then a random one from Kenshin's then back to Ace's . It was ridiculous and happened throughout the book for all 4 main characters. It would have been a much better and smoother book if it just focused on one couple and switched POVs from chapter to chapter.
Now the relationships themselves. Ace & Kenshin were the only thing keeping me from DNFing the book. Yet even they couldn't make me give this more than one star. They have an insta romance love that will just make you roll your eyes. Then there's Dragon and his new cell mate in prison, Richard. When Richard says he isn't gay Dragon says he doesn't care and that if he wants protection he can either be is prison b*tch or no deal. The whole thing is probably the least sexy situation I have read in a long time. Their whole story line should have just not existed or been saved for a different book.
Outlawed ends on a cliffhanger, but it wasn't thrilling, and I just don't care to find out how the story continues.
This one focuses on two couples Dragon/Richard and Ace/Kinshin.
Dragon and Ace were bad boy bikers and they didn’t apologise for who or what they were or what they did. Dragon was more abrupt with a no non-sense attitude whereas, Ace had a much softer side that came out around Kinshin.
I enjoyed the sweet moments between Ace/Kinshin. Kinshin needed some tlc and Ace was more than happy to oblige.
Dragon knew what he wanted and pulled every dirty trick to get it. I was laughing when Richard punched Dragon where it hurt - who knew he had it in him.
Fantastic book and I really enjoyed it.
“I voluntarily read this book. All opinions stated are solely my own and no one else's*
After having read a recent release from this author of the paranormal flavour I was quite pumped for this book, a new start to a series of motorbike gangs, crime and dubious morally characters. I love these type of books and the author certainly gave us a set of characters that intrigued and brought to fruitation those characters that have a slightly skewed moral compass. I loved Dragon and Richard and their interaction, I think I was more interested in these than Ace and Kenshin though both gave us something different then the other. One brought that family dynamic and the other a slightly dominant if your in my protection than you better toe the line theme. I must admit sometimes I felt a little disjointed with some of the language used but I motored on and enjoyed the story. Maverick is a character I'd like more on and his complicated romance issues and of course some of the other characters that were mentioned I'd like a keener look on but at the moment I'm looking forward to the next one to see how kenshin can get that little peace as I felt for him and what he'd endured. All in all a good solid start to the series.
Thank you for the ARC read, I voluntarily give this book an honest review. Hot dang, a MC group! Wow the Lord's of chaos don't play they make you pay. Oh yummy, I smell Chaos brewing! The Club was looking to expand but two separate issues just might have one consciously draw back. I laughed so dang hard I just about popped a lung at Richard what was he thinking, clearly he wasn't dang Dragon was so gonna make him pay. Ace has his hands full dealing with MC business but he cant pass Kenshin hemsel in distress after all he is an equal opportunity type of guy, when the guy legit runs to him for help. Kenshin was held by a cop's hands was humiliating torture, Ace was the first real kindness in a year. Dragon only has six months left on his five year sentence, with one hit to perform before then. Was Dragon newest cellmate going to interfere? Richard is in for a year but how he handles it was the decision Dragon was "allowing" him to make..it was like a merry go round with Richard and Dragon.
If I'm going to be honest I would never have chosen to read this genre, MC just isn't for me but I'm an ARC member and this popped through my email inbox for me and honestly I'm glad it did. NB always gives fantastic world building and dimensional characters and once I got past the first few chapters this book absolutely gripped me and I finished it in 1 reading. Really looking forward to the next instalment.
I'm pretty sure NB could write about paint drying and I'd enjoy it! So if you like his writing style, give it a go even if it's outside of your normal genres and I think you'll enjoy it.
I really love Nicholas Bella’s books. At least the ones he’s done by himself. This one I just didn’t like. It felt like an old story that he shelved and decided to dust off. It had tons of amateur writing mistakes he’s hasn’t made recently. For example the lack of continuity. The characters have real names and nicknames. Nicholas bella didn’t pick one and stick with it and most of the times the characters call each other by their real names or randomly switch to nicknames and it leaves the reader confused as to who these characters are. If he kept the cast small this might not have been an issue, but he includes so many bikers it gets muddled.
Head hopping. Hate it.
And the awkward dialogue! Never have I rolled my eyes at a Nicholas Bella book before. I had to check and make sure his name was on the cover and I didn’t order the wrong book.
The insta love between the characters comes across as disingenuous. For example Kenshin has been abused and escaped his kidnapper only to gush about his savior Ace in the same night because he was “nice” to him. Now even with my suspension of disbelief when it comes to Nicholas Bella this came across as pushing it. The rush pacing makes this relationship too unbelievable. This could have been avoided with time passing and Kenshin getting to know the club, it’s members and him finding his place in the club.
Speaking of which, the club politics were boring as hell and I felt no connection to the club. A writer who brought me into the motorcycle club world was Joanna Wylde and her club politics were leagues better than this even with its problems. I didn’t care about a single person other than the leads and found myself skipping pages….a lot.
I know Nicholas Bella can write better than this so either this is an old story or he’s seriously slacking. I hate to say this but I’m not excited to read anymore in this series. He’s going to need to do some major revisions to make this series work.
I love Theoden and the vampire series and I can’t believe the same author wrote both of these stories! 😭
I’m still a super fan but this was a miss for me. Sorry
Wow, Outlawed is a head spin! An absolute delight. When I first started this book, the writing style reminded me of the old television show “The West Wing” with its fast-paced dialogues and ever-changing camera angles. It just felt like Nicholas Bella was having fun weaving in and out of different characters’ points of views. I love it.
I am not sure how Nicholas Bella does it. Book after book, he creates characters that while flawed, are larger than life. In Outlawed: Lords of Chaos MC, the characters are fierce, fearless, and sexy as heck. There is so much to love about this book. Can we just talk about the sexy nicknames? Ace, Dragon, Tank, Maverick and Nine Iron, absolutely fitting for this world of bikers!
Noah, “Ace” Murphy is my favorite character, not only because of his physique, ok, maybe a little bit, but mainly because of the way he swooped in and rescued Kenshin. Can someone say Henry Cavill as Batman on a Harley? Make no mistake, just like all the characters, Ace is a deadly, take no prisoner lord, but he is also compassionate, he lives for his club, for his brothers, and family.
Although this Motorcycle Club might not be a healthy place for anyone not abiding by its codes, maybe their actions could be seen as reprehensible, however, we also discover that they cannot tolerate cruelty nor injustice. The members have a great sense of brotherhood as no brother is ever left behind.
Where can I get the Prospect sign-in form? This is a great start to the series, and I can’t wait for the next installment.
I received an ARC and even if I didn't, my opinion will be the same.
Brilliant start to a new series Ace/kinshin wow love them I can see a beautiful lovely relationship between them Dragon/Richard is going to be interesting relationship but is it just a prison think hope not I think there more to Richard Love the brothers family Brilliant running 2 story along each other and bring in the family members to I like that I giggle and fell in love with Ace/kinshin I love the way NB is building the characters I love this writing style feels I'm look in from the outside lol like a ghost And for NB mentioning The Bellaholic badasses who support NB in the front of the book beautiful i think that's lovely lol my name was not there 😀 And I love the Character Glossary Brilliant Thanks iv already pre order the next 2 📚 books
Nicholas Bella has a writing style that sucks a person in and doesn't let go to the end of the story. This one is no different. The characters are well developed, the plot, plots along. I love a good MC Romance and this didn't disappoint.
I don't want to give spoilers away; you'll want to experience it all for yourself.
I'm ready for more. I've been in a reading funk and he pulled me right out.
One of the fun things about this book is that there are two romance stories running at he same time, one in prison and one outside it. The two stories are woven together really well by Nicholas Bella. There are characters that have appeared in other series and you don’t have to have read them but it does help In understanding some of the story. I have read some of them but I have a terrible memory so I did feel like I was missing things at times. If I have one criticism it’s just that this whole story, which is told in different series, is getting a bit unwieldy to keep track of. But as I said I do have a bad memory. Often with series like this I will reread them when a new one comes out but I just didn’t have time right now. Overall it’s a terrific motorcycle book with lots of urban fantasy and romance included.
“Loyalty was blood, flesh, heart.” Quite the kickoff for this intense, dark series. No fluffy romance here. These men are gritty, rough, possessive and all about the LOC. I’m lovin’ it and them. Can’t wait to see what happens next with Ace, Kenshin, Dragon and Richie as this serial ends on a cliffhanger and I need more.
Lovin Nicholas Bella’s series with MC’s! Not for the faint of heart either. Just the way I like his dirty mind! Hitting up book two now. Also, wasn’t sure how reading two main characters POV would go, but I like it! It’s like two books in one but still tied together.
I’ve seen the other reviews including the bad ones and those people don’t se the road ahead….. because they don’t see the forest for all the tree…
Well that said! This is a awesome beginning of a new story! A new tale of life within the gangs. In a fictive world! But that’s the deal. Nicholas Bella pulls one straight in to the story and just dumps you down the hole by the name “book” in there you get the ride of you’re life and comes out wet all over, both on the inside and outside…. If you get my meaning.
Well it’s not for the faint hearted and sissy’s but when you get on that ride and joins Nicholas gang you knows you get what you’re paying for!
Nicholas Bella you did it again. Snatched us up and shoved you’re book down our throat with the wrapping still on! And we loves it!
This book definitely feels like the beginning of something, and I think it does a good job of laying the groundwork for a larger storyline with plenty of room for multiple plot arcs and lots of character development. It’s not always easy to get a sense of what those arcs will be or who these characters really are just yet (with a few exceptions), but that kind of nebulous, just-started quality is clearly charged with the possibilities of what’s yet to come, so I didn’t really mind. Here, we have really two parallel tracks to follow: Ace & Kenshin and Dragon & Richard. Ace & Dragon are brothers in the same MC, and Ace is holding things together on the outside while Dragon is in prison when he meets Kenshin, who definitely needs a hero, or barring that, a strong protector. In prison, Richard pays a high price for Dragon’s “protection”-- their relationship, such as it is, is not the stereotypically sweet and cuddly kind (but then, this is not a sweet and cuddly kind of book, as one might expect from a novel called “outlawed” about a motorcycle club…) This book definitely has a strong aesthetic and some unapologetically over-the-top characters, which I definitely thought fit that aesthetic. Read the blurb, and if you like what you see, give this one a try!
* I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Welcome to Nicholas Bella's world of badass motorcycle clubs. He has created such an awesome group filled with such badass diverse personalities. The family is such a well formed, no nonsense rounded family. The storyline is so well written you wish you had more to read. His characters are robust and with so much strengths and wills you get totally invested in them all. I am so looking forward for the next installment. Now I need to re-read this great book.⚘⚘⚘
I've gotta say this book started off slow, a bit confusing and I wasn't sure if I'd enjoy this storyline... the first parts of the book and character introductions were mostly based on m/f and some m/m relationships so I wasn't sure what direction this book would take.....with that being said...I have never read a book that parallels 2 relationships at once before either. I was pleasantly surprised as the story progressed. This book is not your typical swoony romance, it's dark, it's gritty and one of our couples are not romantic at all...it's more of a business deal than anything else to start off with. Ace and Kenshin & Dragon and Richard are well written and interesting characters that I can't wait to see more from, once I got into the story I hated to see it end so soon.... this was a great start to this series and I'm looking forward to what comes next from these relationships. I would defiantly recommend this series.
* I received an ARC from GRR, this is my open and honest review *
I will say it has a few plot holes but overall I really enjoyed the new series. Going forward I would like to see some chicks in bada** roles within the club or something. Maybe even a MC couple with chicks.
I liked that we had two stories going on in this book. It doesn't really end in a cliffhanger but you definitely have to keep reading to see how it all turns out. Dragon seems inflexible in what he wants. Ace is more of a softy I guess. With the way Ace fell for Kenshin and cared about how he was abused, it made me think he has a bit of "knight in shining armor" to him. Kenshin is beginning to perk up as he wants in on getting rid of Randal. I was surprised. I figured he was beaten down for a while and would need time to get rid of the trauma.
From the first chapter Nicholas Bella has dropped the reader into the world of motor cycle club. This is a world where the men make their own rules and live by their own code. We learn of the men who inhabit this world and the men and women who love them. This is a full cast of characters and this first glimpse definitely wets the appetite for more. This first book focuses on Ace and Dragon, two brothers who both find their mates in unique ways. They will both have to earn their mates love in different ways while still dealing with outside forces that are affecting the club. But one thing is sure, you don't disrespect a Lord of Chaos or their boys. Some people will learn that lesson the hard way.
First off I want to say MC trope is normally not my first choice; it’s actually REALLY far down the list. But when Nicholas Bella is writing it…color me VERY interested.
Very much in the style of his New Haven series multiple points of view and story arcs are presented at one time. If you are not used to this style it may take some effort to keep up; but once you are in the grove, you won’t be able to put the book down. This novel had two main story arcs; one inside the club/family and the other inside prison (three members are doing time).
Although many stereotypes for biker clubs are used it flows with the world building. Once the groundwork is laid the stereotypes get tweaked into a more tolerant world where race and sexual orientation are not an issue (which blows many people’s minds…tolerant and progressive outlaw bikers). This makes their stories more interesting and beyond just a ‘gang’, they are a family (some by blood others by choice).
Each character has a story and in this first installment we begin to see lives unfold, yet barely scratch the surface for many of the people introduced. I suspect in future installments we will see more of the other characters come to the surface to tell their stories.
I can’t wait for the next installment of this series!!!
I also had the chance to pick this up as an Audible book. Awesome narration! The story was really brought to life. Highly recommend!
I am a fan of MC series and I just knew this one by Nicholas Bella was going to be rough, raw and knock my socks off. It was and it did. We actually have two plots here that intertwine and two separate couples to follow. One is Ade who rescues and now wants to protect Kenshin and the other is Diego Richard in prison. Ace and Diego are not your dreamy, romantic hero, upstanding citizens, but they protect those they love and make no mistake, what they feel is love. Eagerly awaiting the next two books.
