But something isn't quite right at the bootcamp, and Toto's ninja senses are on high alert ...There is a local legend of a super-strong wildcat, destined to raise an army and take over all of Scotland. Toto knows she must find out more, but danger is lurking at every turn. Can she find the mysterious wildcat, before it's too late?Ideal for reading aloud or for children to curl up with and read alone, the story features brilliant black and white illustrations throughout. With themes of friendship, inclusivity and winning in the face of adversity, this is a hilarious must-read for all animal-loving kids! The hardback edition features paw-print endpapers and an inner-cover hidden beneath the jacket - making it a brilliant gift for young readers. From one of the UK's best-loved broadcasters, theToto series is purrfect for fans of The Aristocats, The Secret Life of Pets and Atticus Claw Breaks the Law. Dermot 'The idea for Toto first came to me when my wife and I rescued two stray cats from an olive grove in Italy. One of them, Toto, has been blind from birth, but we quickly realised she had ninja-like reactions. Like a lot of cat owners (or cat servants), we like to imagine our pets having secret lives when we're out or asleep. So before I knew it I was writing about Toto and her brother Silver's nocturnal adventures around London. I really hope that children who pick it up enjoy reading the adventures of our little Italian underdog (cat).'Have you seen Toto's other adventures? The Great Snake Escape, The Incredible Cheese Heist, The Superstar Catastrophe and The Mystery Jewel Thief are out now, and make perfect gifts for young readers. For more animal adventures, discover Wings of Glory. Can one tiny bird help to win a world war? A funny action-adventure story with a feathery twist, from the bestselling children's author of Toto the Ninja Cat, Dermot O'Leary, with glorious illustrations throughout by Claire Powell.

Another excellent book in the series
However this book doesn't really make sense to me. Too many characters , making you not know who is who and not really revealing any personality in them.

Toto and her brothers and Catface are being sent undercover to a reform camp in Scotland where they are actually keeping an eye out to see if rumors of the return of the Wildcat are true. But their attention is soon fully on the camp. This reform camp doesn’t seem to be very focused on reforming people, but keeping them prisoners and making them angry. What’s going on?

This book tackles a few heavier topics than some of the previous Toto books I’ve read. You’ve got wrongfully imprisoned animals who are stuck in a cycle of never being good enough and always getting more days tagged on to their sentence. You’ve got someone abusing a position of power to build an army (which they wanted to be tightly controlled but has gotten out of control), and then you see Toto teaming up with a past enemy who desires world domination to overcome and even greater evil of world destruction. Toto and her brothers and Catface have to face off with bullies in the camp along with unfair treatment, and they do have to occasionally use their ninja skills to free themselves and others. There are more fights than in past books. Toto is still trying to do things as peacefully as possible, but it isn’t as possible in this one. This was ok, but not my favorite Toto adventure.

Notes on content:
Language: None
Sexual content: None
Violence: There are a couple fight sequences. Usually the fights end with others being knocked out, but not killed or severely injured.
Ethnic diversity: English and Scottish animals.
LGBTQ+ content: None specified.
Other: Toto is pretty much legally blind, but doesn’t let her handicap stop her. She knows when to ask for help. Wrongful imprisonment and abuse of power.

My 6yo enjoyed listening to this story. It is the first book we’ve read from this author and my son now wants me to find some more at the library.
The story of Toto and her brothers and a large rat called Catface, sent to a correctional camp in Scotland because the trainee ninja brothers were a bit silly and broke some big wigs boat.
I found that I enjoyed the story as well, it was a nice easy read and my son could probably read it independently in a few years time.

Part of a series and although I have only read the initial couple of chapters so far, I have enjoyed the character description, set up of the legend of the wildcat and the setting of Scotland's wilds.
The writing is fun and speedily draws you into the story. I think my library friend's will enjoy having this to borrow. Promo at the back of the book explains that this is also an audio story read by the author Dermot O'Leary which would be great as a new addition to our listening post titles.

I love this series, each book seems to get better and better. In this fifth book the animal and human world are again in danger. Toto must go under cover to Scotland to take on her most dangerous foe. Some twists and turns in this book that will leave the reader longing for the sixth in the series.

Daughter was excited to find another Toto story in the library, but to be honest, this series has probably exhausted itself by now. It was an OK bedtime read, but the story wasn't very interesting and the characters didn't offer anything new.

I enjoyed it when ADF was all evil and became friends with Toto and defeated Rodrick the spotlessly clean . And everyone met Feilis.

This was a fun mystery but there was a little more violence than I had expected. Something with fluffy cats and multiple mentions of heads on stakes stood out to me.
