5 Twisted Taboo Stars

Holy Moly, mother of all that is hot and delicious; I thank the taboo queens for Marie Anne to write a fantastic, dark spicy book that will blow your mind.

Fallon is a sophomore at a new college and striving to be “normal and perfect” after an incident her freshman year at her previous college. She stumbles onto two mask men and sees something she shouldn't have.

The two men. Solomon and Sebastian are both instantly intrigued by Fallon and keep a close eye on her and decide to play with her. While Fallon is trying to be perfect, these two truly see her for who she really is.

Wanna play in the dark with us, pretty girl?

My heart goes out to all three of these characters. Fallon for her to be free, what is normal and perfect anyway? It pained me for what she went through. Solomon and Sebastian share a unique but deep bond. With a horrific backstory.

I have concluded that whatever Marie Anne writes turns to gold. The author didn't shy from any details, on my dark scale; it's gray. Not only did I love this book, I absolutely fell in love with all three of them and hope to see more of them in the future.

This book follows Fallon, a mentally unstable woman who, after a handful of unfortunate events stumbles across a cabin in the woods. She doesn't know the dark and twisted individuals that are inside and she doesn't know what they will eventually bring out in her. She just saw a flashing light in the woods and like a moth to the flame was unintentionally on her own path of self destruction.

It is truly with a heavy heart I state this book just wasn't for me. It happens. I absolutely love Marie and love her debut duet, but I have to admit this sadly fell short for me. I often found myself distracted by certain choices she made. Fallon doesn't know the MMC's names pretty much the entire book (they wear masks and have to make sure they can trust her) so she calls them Silent and Creepy. I found that incredibly distracting. I also had a very hard time connecting with Fallon.

I absolutely LOVED Spencer and Solomon! They are brothers. And with this being MMF, you can guess what that means! *wink wink* And I completely loved that aspect of the book. I honestly wish this was just an MM, cause I vibed with that guys hardcore. They are deranged and twisted individuals and I loved it. I would have loved more backstory on them. They made the book for me!

Everyone has different tastes and sometimes books just hit people differently. While this book didn't fully hit me, it absolutely will for others! That's what I love about art as a whole, people take different things from it. So with that said, take a chance on this book! I will, of course, remind everyone to check the trigger warnings.

I expected this to be super dark. And more bloody.

All I get was a whole lot of sex scenes. If it's scattered through the book, I would be okay with. But these two men... They fucked more than they killed. I don't even think we have a single eating scene in here, but trust me when I say they couldn't even move to another scene without fucking each other.

So, that's great. 😬

Another issue I have, my main issue actually, is with Fallon's past. Like are we supposed to just hypothesize what happened? I have never read a book, where so much pressure is hinged on the fucked up tainted past of the main character, and yet in the end, we were not even told of what happened except for few vague passes. I don't get it.

Well, Miss Marie did it again, Fragmented Illusions was such a dark, thrilling, murderous novel. I loved it as usual because I am a sucker for Dark Taboo Romances, and dark and taboo this was. If you love taboo poly romances, with a creepy little cabin and a dead body, you'll love this.

Fallon Dahlia Kesslar, our Pretty girl, has a darkness in her which she tries to hide every second of everyday with her appearance and meds. Fal lives and portrays an illusion of a perfect girl as per her parent's desire, but that Fragmented Illusion is far from who she is, and she just wants to be free.

Spencer Rhys Matthew, one of our boys, is Creepy, needy, possessive, and loves to draw and carve on things, when and where, you'll find out when you read this story. He maybe a little impatient but he loves with his whole heart. He knows what he wants and isn't shy to whine about it if he can get it. He does everything with his brother Sol.

Solomon Harper Matthews, other one of our boys, is Silent, detached, craves control, and likes to plan everything to the T. He is numb to most of the things in his life, except his little brother, Spence and their favourite little activity that brings both the brothers a sense relief and tranquility. He's never hesitated to get in trouble's way if he can keep his brother safe.

All three of them are drifting through their life, looking for more. Fal trying to be her parent's definition of Perfect. Sol and Spence trying to satiate their thirst for blood for what their Mother did to them. Until one halloween night, which changes the course of their life.

"Oh, pretty girl, pretty girl
You saw something you shouldn’t have
Or did your eyes deceive you?
We know your secret

We’ll be watching
Waiting
Playing
All in the shadows
Don’t you wish you knew who we were?
We could be anyone
Anywhere
Anytime
Wanna play in the dark with us, pretty girl?"

It all begins a new dynamic, and starts something which they weren't looking for in each other. And I enjoyed it 🤗

When she said dark and taboo, she meant it with this one. Heed the warnings, I mean it y’all.
I absolutely fell in love with this author when I read The Monsters in Us duet and Fragmented Illusions just solidified it.

Fallon is doing everything she can to project a perfect image so no one can see what’s underneath. When she stumbles upon something she shouldn’t and finds herself face to face with two men whose sickness speaks to hers, her perfect image starts to fall apart.

Sol and Spence had my heart right away. Seriously damaged men who only have eyes for each other and our FMC. Say no more.

And Fallon is a FMC that I found myself relating to and I don’t even know what that says about me 😅

This is really a story about three sick and twisted people who’ve found solace and acceptance in each other and I just love them.

I don’t want to give too much away because I went into this pretty blind and I always think that’s the best experience. But If you’re up for an extra dark and taboo read, and I do mean TABOO, then I highly recommend this one.

God I wanted to love this book. I’m always down for a good MMF taboo book, but this honestly feel flat for me.

Taboo it is indeed. Sol and Spencer are brothers, partners in crime as well as lovers. The MM scenes in this book are top tier and honestly saved it for me. I wish it would have been left as an MM.

Fallon is a mentally unstable college student who stumbles upon a murder taking place in the woods. She deals with anxiety afterwards and slow slips back to old unhealthy habits. I was annoyed with some of the choices she made thru out the book and what felt like a lack of connection between the boys and her even when they ‘wanted’ and “needed” her. I constantly felt like she was put on the back burner when it comes to their dynamic. Sol the first time they have sex doesn’t even finish with her but ends up with his brother. This happens again in the end when he has an opportunity to be with her he doesn’t and is once again with his brother. Like what is the fucking point of her being there? Yea I’m not into that. I need balance and that wasn’t something this book gave me.

A work of pure art. This book checked everything off for me. Everything I like, such as dark romance, erotica and MMF were involved in this story and I loved every second of it. Definitely gonna read the rest of this author’s book collections.

Their mental well being has been dissipated by past traumas, do they see in each other the darkness it has left behind? Read the trigger warnings this is a taboo/dark romance ⚠️

Our FMC, Fallon, is “perfect” in every way but her own, she has to, to be seen as they want her to. The MMCs who are brothers see right through her facade, when she happens upon them in what can only be described as a macabre setting 🩸🫣 💀 A lot of MM taboo 🌶️ until they secure their pretty girl.

From that chance meeting, they infiltrate her life in more ways than a little 💀🌶️🔪 Until one day, her life is not her own once more…..

Enjoyed this story and all the characters, well, maybe a few I didn’t like 😈

We take a dark and twisty turn with this MMF taboo read. Take the TW’s seriously as we going dark 💀

Spencer and Solomon are kings in my eyes, kings who are psychopathic. I know ya’ll love dark romance if you follow me and being honest this book does not disappoint. The brothers take this taboo read to the next level for me, seeing two completely different minds form an explosive MC duo is something I rarely see written so well in this genre.

Fallon hits the mark for me with her internal struggles. Marie has always been able to get under my skin with her raw and true emotions leaking onto every page of her writing and you can really see this in Fallon. Her need for perfection drives her further towards the dark side which is all of our guilty pleasures rolled into one.

The relationship arcs between the brothers is something that surprised both myself and Marie as she was writing their story. Seeing them understand each other and their needs as they find their infatuation turn into something more the longer the story progresses.

All in all, this is my favourite thing Marie has written so far and for her first dive into MM scenes she absolutely smashed it for me.

Ooooookay Marie Ann, I see you here. And i applaud you. The writing in this book, for being your third published book, is way beyond that. I am blown away by your writing in this book and I will continue to say that.

FI follows Fallon, a girl who has become obsessed with being perfect because if she’s not perfect than she is who she really is - a person with a severe personality (and other mental) disorders. and for her well off family, that is not okay. she must be the perfect child and push past her issues. however, by doing so she loses herself.

the wrong place and wrong time will bring Fallon together with Creepy and Silent, nicknames i really love for the characters Spencer and Solomon, respectively. these two are exactly what Fallon needs to be herself.

FI is super taboo, mmf, and told in first person with multiple POVs.

It’s not that I didn’t enjoy it sometimes it’s the fact it was underwhelming. The romance didn’t make a lot of sense between Fallon and the boys but the love between them did and I enjoyed that. I just think that the romance with Fallon had been handled way too fast and it didn’t seem realistic.

I honestly expected more. Idk more depravity, craziness, just more. I will read other book by this author because I have faith they’ll be better. This wasn’t my cup of tea but it may be yours. Toodles!

Four very dark, taboo stars! This was definitely something else, but I obviously enjoyed it since I devoured it in one day. I honestly couldn’t put it down. I’m not one to consider books labeled as “dark” to actually be that dark- but this one is! Give it a read, mind the triggers and warnings people! 😁

DNF at 36%

We are dark we are creepy we are twisted we are broken we are boring. Yawn. I’d rather go to grad school again than read more of Fallon’s internal monologue. Thank you, next.

Maybe I’ll do that thing where I actually dnf books this year. Life’s too short and all. Let’s see how that works out.

“I don’t know if what I feel for Spencer, or for Fallon, is love. It could be an obsession for all I know. But what I do know is I never want to be without them. As painful as this feeling is; as much as it twists my heart inside of my ribs, pulsing unbearably, I wouldn’t change it.”

My girl fucking killed it (pun intended 😉) with this book. Fragmented Illusions is an MMF, taboo, suspense/thriller novel that had me hooked from the very first page.

Fallon is in her second year of college at a new school, striving to bury her darkness and keep up her perfect girl persona. On Halloween, she wanders into the woods and stumbles upon something she shouldn’t have seen, gaining the attention of two, deranged masked men.

Solomon and Spencer have a special type of relationship - I absolutely love their bond. They get their sights set on Fallon after she catches them up to no good, and think she would be a perfect addition to their clan of crazy.

I absolutely adore these three.

Solomon is the stoic, detached, control freak, while Spencer is needy and possessive. They’re both so different but are the perfect mash up of crazy.

Fallon is thrown into the mix and is the ultimate third for them. She has the same dark, deranged thoughts lurking in her mind and they allow her to embrace that part of her.

Marie writes pain, tragedy, and darkness beautifully. These characters are not good people in the “normal” sense, yet you can’t help but love them, be obsessed with them.

This is the first book I've read from this author and I wanted very much to adore this story. . It had every element I enjoy (murder, blood, knives, voices, incest, etc) .. but, I don't know. I could not stay interested. I was falling asleep from boredom.

The story felt very unfinished. The vague background for the guys was ok. Sexually, physically, mentally abused by their mom. Got it. But the vagueness with Fallon was just irritating. She hears voices, obviously, and something happened that made her finally snap (guessing rape).. wanted to kill herself.. somewhat implied that she maybe hurt or killed someone during her snap... but do we ever find out? Noooooo. And without that glowing piece of knowledge to cement why she's so fucked up and why she has to act perfect, she just comes off as an annoying, whiney girl who has numerous panic attacks from anxiety that doesn't eat enough and makes horrible decisions.

I just... not for me. How a book with all the elements I listed could literally bore me to sleep, I don't know, but it did. Going to try another book by this author before I accept that her writing is just not for me. Hoping it turns out better than this.

I was so excited for this book but sadly it fell flat for me. it wasn't really dark and was more sex scenes than killing or even a normal conversations.

I loved the MM aspect and wish it had just stayed as that.

My biggest issue is Fallon. We get tiny, tiny details of stuff that had happened in the past to make the way she is but its no where near enough to actually know what happened. Like, are we supposed to just guess what happened to her? So much of the story resolved around the past yet we don't get any answers to what happened.

I’ll start by saying I really really liked this story. It’s different from what I’ve read lately. The characters were fantastic. But I wish it would’ve been a little longer. I wanted to hear more of the back story to Sol & Spencer, and Fallon (love her name).
I was surprised as I thought that the roommates would’ve been more involved in the happenings as well as Trenton. I was waiting for one of the girls to know the brothers or even something happen to them (her or the bros kill). I kept in mind all the characters (Sarah, Grace, Sophie) but later it wasn’t really relevant aside from Natalie. I guess that could be a great spin off or sequel. I could appreciate the suitable HFN ending as it wasn’t the typical “sunshine & rainbows” most readers desire. It was appropriate for the nature of this book. An epilogue would’ve been an added bonus but not exactly necessary.

The fact that no one had seen them did have you guessing if Solomon & Spencer were in fact real.
I liked their porcelain white masks & the overall mysteries of their actions.

Another question is besides living in the frat house- what was their relationship like with the other housemates? They were an odd pair & made me curious about how the others viewed them.
What I didn’t like: I know that it’s cheesy but I wanted to read more about her actual reaction to seeing their faces. Pretty anticlimactic. I mean, did I miss it? Did she like what she had seen? (Aside from the reaction to their bodies). She described them but didn’t say how she felt about their looks. Sure they had some nice features but I know I’ve seen folks w/ striking features but still ass ugly. 😆. She liked the way they made her feel & how they banged her but I would’ve liked if she was insanely attracted to their faces.
I really look fwd to reading more from this author.
Cheers 🥂!

"I have to play with her. Know her. Break her."

I flew through this book and enjoyed every second of it. I connected well with Fallon's feeling of always needing to be perfect. Some of her dialogue broke my heart. She struggled so much to lock away who she is because of society's judgement. She had this unreachable goal of being "normal" and pleasing everyone. She wanted a fresh start and eventually realized it was unattainable.

"I want freedom. I want to let go and be me. Of that means the voices are with me, then so be it. At least with them, I know I'll never be alone in the dark."

Fallon describes herself as sick repeatedly throughout the book. She knows there's something not right with her brain and claims that's the worst kind of sickness. She knows she's different and until she met the boys, she didn't accept herself. She struggled with self harm and suicide prior to meeting Creepy and Silent. She has a sad story that I related too a lot more than I expected.

The way she met the boys was crazy and every scene with them going forward was intense. The smut was great. I never thought I'd be into mmf and mm but apparently it's a thing for me now. I liked how the boys embraced their destruction. They never tried to change each other. From a young age they accepted who and what they are and the things they do to feel alive.

This story was just amazing. It started to fall apart a tiny bit for me at the end just because I felt it was wrapped up a little too quickly.
There were quite a few grammer and spelling errors throughout the story as well.

I will continue to recommend this book to all of my dark taboo readers🖤

OMG, you guys! Marie Ann did it again; she took me on another delicious crazy ride with this book, and I'm here for it.

Fragmented Illusions got me hooked from the very beginning! This MMF book was a dark, crazy, twisted, and taboo read, and it kept me on edge and glued to my kindle until the very end, literally. When it comes to the characters, I loved what Marie Ann did with them; the emotions, dynamic, connection between them, struggles, depth, everything was the perfect combination for me.

As always, PLEASE, I advise you read the TW before jumping in!

Wow this book was crazy, but in a good way! I haven't read much by this author so shes a new to me author and I have really enjoyed her books so far from what I have read. This book definitely blew me away. From the beginning I was hooked and this book was definitely a very quick read for me because I just wanted to keep reading to see what was going to happen. Definitely a very taboo, twisted book!

I really like the premise of this story. Some parts did seem rushed or not explained enough for my liking. I just would’ve loved more on why they were the way they were. I know that the guys killed their mom but what exactly did she do to them for them to snap. Also what happened to Fallon at her other college before she transferred. I would love to see how they turned out in 5 or 10 years together. Even though these issues didn’t take away from the twisted things that happened I just would like more answers. Hopefully in the future my questions can be answered

I'm fascinated by the dynamic between Sol and Spencer. You can feel the chemistry between them. They were perfect together. I loved how needy (and horny 🤭) Spence was, how he craved Sol's attention and Sol took such good care of him. 👿🖤🔥 My needy baby boy was so ready and greedy for Sol... So beautiful. The MM moments were my favorite. And the author gave us all the top tier smutty.

Their relationship was fucked up and i loved it 🖤

This one sadly wasn’t for me. The characters were missing backstory and with that felt a bit one-dimensional, making it hard for me to connect to any of them. This book has so many aspects that I love - taboo, MMF (though it mostly felt like the F in that equation wasn’t needed), bloody, murdery - but we simply didn’t click.

I was expecting this to be darker than it was. It was mostly filled with smut though. Which I don’t mind if it’s placed into the story correctly, but probably 90% of this book was the sex scenes and only a couple of the dark shit. Just wanted more story! Still worth a read if you’re into fucked up dark romance!
