Fairy Tales Something ancient stirs in the Raven Woods. A creature out of the darkest fairy tales calls to Thad and Cynthia, seducing them with promises of gingerbread and magick. Belinda must keep them safe, but her patience with the children has run thin. Her senses are on overdrive, and her appetites are voracious as she wanders the woods, heeding a siren call only she can hear. Trickster Spirit Meanwhile, in Ravencrest Manor, new employee Ryan O’Brien is tormented by a trickster spirit that seems harmless, even humorous. Belinda and Grant assure Ryan he’s safe, chalking up the paranormal activity to a harmless poltergeist, assuring him that levitating mops and flying vegetables are nothing to worry about. But as it gathers power, the entity turns dark, dangerous, and when a suit of armor comes to life with deadly intent, they realize that something more is going on in the mansion. Dark Secrets Deep in the bowels of Ravencrest Manor something is waiting and watching; something that will change everything Belinda and Grant ever thought they knew about the secrets … and the ghosts … of Ravencrest. *** “...Tamara Thorne and Alistair Cross have created a world that is dark, opulent, and smoldering with the promise of scares and seduction. Something Spooky is Afoot on the Ravencrest Property!
Small backstory:
Belinda Moorland along with Grant, Eric and crew have been invaded by a haunting that begins in the kitchen of all places in the opening of this book!
From there something stirs the air within Ravencrest Manor as a ghostly manifestation has set its sights on everyone in the manor. The entity seems playful at first with doing different kind of tricks like mop spinning but as time goes on the entity takes on a different form - a darkness has invaded the manor and this time around the seriousness of this entity has decided that it is on mission to maybe destroy them all!
That is about all I can hand out with a small backstory without giving away spoilers so if you want to know more then go read this book and series!
Thoughts:
I took my time reading this story as I wanted to absorb all the atmospheric feelings of Ravencrest. Sometimes I will slow down my reading to slip inside the story itself as I want to feel what the characters are feeling as they experience the hauntings that run amok in the manor.
This story was a spooky one too and I probably say it every time when I read a book in this series that "this one was the spookiest yet" but I feel that this fourth book in the series kept me riveted as I wanted to stay wrapped up within the manor along with the characters. The manor this time has a haunting that runs rampant keeping the characters on their toes and keeping me sitting in my chair most of the time. 😁
Another great book in this series and looking forward to reading book five The Bride of Ravencrest which just released last month in October. Giving this book five "Chiller Thriller" stars!
"Shadowland" is a remarkable read! It is - by far - my favorite book in the series so far!
I was thrilled to finally get to know Riley better, and to also be allowed to explore more of the Raven Woods. Both were truly treats that I thoughouly enjoyed. I'm seriously looking forward to seeing where the plot thread goes next from Belinda's final encounter with Heller in this book, too!
I could rave on and on about this book. It's simply amazing. There's tight continuity in the series. But if you've read the first three books in it, be certain that you take the time to sit down and also read "Shadowland"!
I love this series, it gets better with every book. Shadowland was tight, dark and funny in all the right spots. The main storyline in this installment was fabulous, and I especially enjoyed Belinda behaving badly. Learning more about Riley was interesting, and I'm excited to see what Ravencrest has in store for young Ryan O'Brian. The sexual tension between Eric and Belinda is flaming hot and frustrating- I'm rooting for those two!
