"I'm not interested in splitting you in half, so I'll rip off whatever charming little dress you're wearing with my teeth and then taste you until you're riding my tongue and begging for more. Then, if I'm feeling particularly generous, I'll give you both my cocks one at a time."

❗This review may contain some minor spoilers❗
So, I was in the mood for some filthy, ridiculous monster smut...I was not disappointed!! I am a big fan of erotica, but I have never read anything like this before. In fact, I have never thought of anthropomorphic dragons as sexual beings or romantic interests (dragons who can shapeshift into humans don't count!!) I thoroughly enjoyed this book, even though there was hardly any plot. That's not why one would read this, though. It is also an easy read, about 200 pages, and there wasn't much conflict, either. Oh...and there's an insane amount of weird sex. It made little sense, but that made it all the more fun. Besides that, if there is one thing I like about the book that has nothing to do with smut, it would be its stark emphasis on the difference between monstrous looks and monstrous behaviour. You wouldn't think a monster-smut book would have such depth, yet there you go. Oooh!! And it has a cute little map at the beginning to show you where all that weird sex is happening. 👍🏻👍🏻
In addition, despite going into this for absolutely no other reason than the aforementioned and having literally no expectations other than the obvious, I was surprised by how much I actually liked the characters. Briar Rose, the female protagonist, has an unexpectedly deep and complex character, even though she does have a really hard time deciding whether she wants to bone the dragon. More specifically, she says she doesn't but then just...does it. Not that I'm mad about that. In any case, she has a deeply traumatic past, as her human husband physically abused her for many years, which forced her to make some questionable choices in order to escape. Fortunately, those choices lead to the lizard-human hybrid hunk she now calls her husband. Speaking of which, Sol, the lovely gentleman dragon, while lacking much of Briar's depth of character, represents the juxtaposition of a monster with a pure heart, as opposed to the human pile of garbage that Briar was married to before. He is exactly what Briar needs after everything she has been through. This is what makes their relationship work so well and why it is so enjoyable to read about. It does move pretty fast, though, with them growing feelings for each other about four days after they met. I'm not big on insta-love, but like I've already said, this is not why I picked up the book in the first place, so it doesn't really bother me. Honestly, I couldn't focus on anything other than the smut while reading it. THE GUY HAS TWO PENISES. TWOOOOO!!! AND A TAIL!!! THAT HE USES LIKE A PENIS!!! Do you understand what I'm saying???? Do yaaaa???? Also, the penises retract back into his body after sex, and there's absolutely no explanation given for it at all. Is it something that happens to lizards? Do I even want to look into it? 👀👀 Probably not...
Aside from the two main characters, some other secondary characters that intrigued me. More specifically, two demons that snuck their way into my heart and stayed there. Keep in mind that I had no intention of getting attached to any character in this book. I was only in it for the sex. It's like catching feelings for your sex buddy. Regardless, I love Azazel and Ramanu. They're kind and gentle for demons and are definitely better than Briar's human husband. They are protective of the women they bargain with, even though the circumstances they put them in are highly questionable. Azazel is a stoic, grumpy kind of character, whereas Ramanu is a non-binary menace to the monster realms, hilariously so. They may not appear in the story as often as I wanted them to, but when they do, they steal all the attention. I especially love the not-so-subtle easter eggs thrown here and there, hinting at their own storylines, along with the storylines of all the other girls and their monsters. In fact, there's a novella about Ramanu and their love interest that I can't wait to get into. As for Azazel, there's no book yet, but I know it's coming, and I can't wait. I think it might even end up being my favourite. Honestly, I have a feeling I will finish all the books within a few days. I'm too invested now.
If you're stressed, read some monster smut. You will not be disappointed.
