With her ghosts of Christmas past finally put to rest, this year she’s ready to sleigh it.
Rosemary Bell is living her best life. Her little family is content, business is booming, and she has her very own Christmas eve wedding to plan. Things are jingling all the way... until a knock on the door ruins any prospect of a silent night.
Calling in a binding magical favor, Santa has finally come to town—but his resting Grinch face isn’t bringing joy to anyone’s world. He proves to be the worst roomie imaginable, and Rosie is almost willing to grin and bear it, until he becomes a rebel without a Claus. It’s snow laughing matter, and the residents of Fox Cottage are definitely starting to feel more than a little Claus-trophobic.
Rosie might be pouting, but it’s St. Nick who better watch out. Will she find the magic she needs to step up and be the witch who saved Christmas?
The Grinch meets Bad Santa in this mad-cap tale about what’s really important, what really isn’t, and the true meaning of Christmas.
Generally, I'm not a fan of Christmas themed books...but I am a fan of this series so, of course, I was thrilled when i received an ARC of Rosie's holiday adventure. It was fun, made me laugh out loud several times, and cringe just as many. There's never a dull moment in Mosswood! I look forward to the next one.
Well we are back in Mosswood and it's almost Christmas! Also almost wedding time! Rosie is looking forward to her nuptial to Declan...things are going smoothly and plans are falling into place. That isn't the only thing falling into Mosswood. I laughed so hard reading the newest story to the Midlife in Mosswood series. Things just don't go to plan when Rosie, Declan, Gabe and Maggie are involved. A great Christmas themed storyline that will have you grossed out and laughing out loud. I love the characters and the storyline. Louisa West really knows how to spin a story, for this being the 7th book in the series and she can still make me laugh out loud. Highly recommend this magical midlife story where the protagonist is 40+ and having all the feels of menopause. Loved it!
I loved this latest book in the Midlife in Misspoke series! Each book just gets better and better in my opinion. I love revisiting Mosswood and all of the characters and watching them deal with each new struggle that comes their way. This was also a fantastic holiday read, right in time for the season! I can't wait to read the next book! If you enjoy second chances, heroines in their midlife, magic, and romance, then pick up this series if you haven't already, you won't be sorry!
Santa Claus is coming to town...and honestly he's a bit of a jerk. I loved this story. Watching Rose, Declan, and the family deal with St. Nick, working to try to save Christmas, was a blast. There's also a few new characters we meet that I certainly hope we'll get to see again because they were hilarious. (I will never think of sugar plum fairies the same way again.) The perfect, fun holiday book to get you into the Christmas spirit!
The books are all well written with good stories. But am I the only person who has a really hard time liking the MC? Where I come from her behaviour with company, invited or not would be considered terrible. She knows she has a large man for company but doesn't cook enough and then gets angry when he asks for more? Then he has stomach issues because of the dairy when she didn't ask if he had any dietary issues before cooking. Yes he was a nightmare but she was a real witch before he had really started being one. We have all had unexpected company at horrible timing, but I pray that most people treat the better. I have found that in some of the other books she's the same but then realizes it at least somewhat. But still expects everyone to ignore that. I really want to like these books. It's just hard to get passed what a spoiled witch she is to other people except for her precious daughter. She's the only one who's treated the way she should be. The idea behind the book and the ideas they come up with are genius. I don't want to leave spoilers so ill just say the animals were a very neat idea. A bit crazy but cute. I hope she keeps writing. There's potential for excellence here. But a likeable MC is a big deal!
When the whole family gathers together to decorate the house for Christmas, a visitor crash lands into their front year, bringing chaos and a mission! Just when Rosie thinks things have settled down so that she can focus on her impending nuptials... She learns that she must save Christmas and ensure the world has enough Christmas Spirit for the next year, or else!
I really enjoy this series and love the interplay between Rosie and Declan and how they are building their family. Although those bonds are tested when Santa calls in a favor, Rosie does everything in her power to save Christmas and NOT kill Santa-- and I am honestly not sure which task is harder!
Filled with magical creatures and small town chutzpah, Rosie's story will surly grow any grinch's heart a few sizes! This is a perfect balance to the saccharine sweet Hallmark stories that have been my go-to Christmas Spirit Generators lately. I really enjoyed it and can't wait for the next story!
How the Witch Saved Christmas is book 7 in the Midlife in Mosswood series. This one finds our lead character Rosie planning her Christmas wedding to Declan. That is until Santa Claus falls into their yard and they find out that he made a “deal” with Declan when he was a kid and Santa has come to collect. He’s dirty, rude, has horrible hygiene habits, and says he left Mrs. Claus and is going to stay at the cottage.
Rosie tries to ignore him until a sugarplum fairy shows up and tells them that if Santa doesn’t get it together, Christmas magic will disappear. If Christmas magic disappears, so does regular magic. He charges Declan to fulfill his side of the deal with restoring Christmas.
With Rosie’s wedding now stalled and a disgusting house guest, she has to do everything she can to save the holiday for the world’s children and magic for her own daughter s legacy.
If I had a house guest as nasty as Nick I don’t think I could’ve kept my cool like Rosie. This was another great book in the series and I can’t wait to see where the family heads next.
What do you do when Santa Claus loses his Christmas spirit and shows up at your door just days before Xmas eve? How the Witch Saved Christmas is the story of how Rosie and Declan handled this situation with help from lots of friends and family. Although HTWSC is a stand alone novel it is best read in the Midlife in Mosswood reading order as there isn't much of an explanation as to who is who amongst the recurring series characters. That said, this is a very fun read enhanced by a very strong message about true Christmas spirit! So join Rosie, Declan and friends on a wild ride with a not very jolly St. Nick in their quest to save Christmas. Along the way you'll get to meet Sugarplums Fairy and travel to the North Pole to enlist the aid of Mary Claus and of course Santa's elves. Louisa West has written a magical holiday book with lots of laughs and even more holiday spirit.
**I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review**
This book was hilarious from beginning to end! Imagine preparing for your wedding to the man of your dreams, and hoping that THIS Christmas is going to be so much better than last--only to suddenly find yourself hosting Santa!
Louisa West made this book live! The humor, the frustration, the turmoil- just jumped out of the page and became reality! So realistic- I laughed until tears came in so many places, and yet could feel the utter frustration that Rosie felt being the unwilling hostler to Santa!
This is a fun, quick Christmas read that continues the quirky humor of the Mosswood series. Not to be missed.
This has become one of my favorites. Seeing Santa and fairies in a new light. There are so many funny moments in this story, you will have a hard time picking your favorite. It reminded me of how young Maggie is and how great her spirit is. While there are tons of funny moments there are also some very touching ones. While the other supporting characters make appearances in this book they do not get spotlighted too much in this story. Although they are referred to and commented on how important they are to the family. This is a great book to read at Christmas time as it reminds you of what is truly important in life. You cannot go wrong with this light-hearted fun, touching book. I was provided an ARC copy and this is an honest review.
this jsut wasnt the book for me. between the third person point of view narrative voice and the story as a wholes plot and characters, it just wasn't something that meshed well with me. it wasn't a horrible book overall, and i really think there are a ton of people that would enjoy this book, but that person was not me. i am definitely more of a heavy romance girlie, and seeign as this was a paranormal slash fantasy style womens fiction novel, it just wasn't what i was looking for. still, i think people should check it out and give it a go for themselves. love you guys, check it out if you would like <3
Join in ALL the reindeer games as our resident witch and her family rush to save the day once more. Christmas is at stake, as is their sanity when good old' 'Nick' crashes into their lives. Blood pressure rises, preconceived notions dashed and plans quickly change when the reality of who/what Santa has become take hold. Hilarity ensues with unique characters popping in along the way of this raucous tale. Enjoy the ride everyone....I dare you not to LOL. Now...on Dasher, on Dancer!!! 🎄🎄🎄✨
Santa is on the Naughty list, can he redeem himself?
Anything that can go wrong, will in fact go wrong. With Christmas spirit running low, Rosie, Declan, Gabe, and Maggie try their best to fix and save Christmas. This is a great story that Christmas isn't about the presents, bows, and trimmings, there is more to it than that! I loved it! It was perfect timing too, because I caught my Christmas spirit running low until I read this. Grab your copy and see for yourself! I loved it, and can't wait to read the next one!!
Prepare yourself for this one, Rosie has to deal with Nick who has been thrown out of the North Pole, right before Christmas. He comes in to extract a favor Declan owes him and boy he is not the jolly good fellow. Things go array, everyone is trying to help save Christmas except for Nick and that is when Rosie has enough and call in the calvary. Great story, make sure to read through even when you get annoyed at the antics, the surprising ending, will be worth it. then head over to book 8, we finally have a wedding!
An amusing touch to a Christmas story. Santa claus - Nick has been kicked out by Mrs Claus. Declan owes him something from his childhood so he's in Mosswood to collect. The Christmas spirit has left Nick who has become a couch potato with very bad manners. Rosie and friends try to figure out how to bring Christmas back and get Nick out of her house with some amusing consequences. Can Rosie help Declan pull this off with their upcoming Wedding ?
I probably say this after each book, but truly this was one of my very favorites in the Mosswood series! I loved x 100 all the zany characters in this book. This book made me feel the Christmas spirit that I was missing as well. Great laughs, as well as an introspection of what the Holidays are truly about! I'm so anxious for the next one now!!! ❤❤❤
Love this installment of Mosswood series! I’d say it’s the best of the series, but I say that every time. Louisa West just keeps delivering a solid book EVERY time! This is a must read for Mosswood fans! And definitely fans of SANTA CLAUS!!! That’s right! Buckle up for an exciting ride with Rosie, Declan and SANTA!!
What a fun little time period in these characters stories. I mean probably not for them, but it was interesting to read about. I only gave 4 stars because I can’t honestly tell you if I still understand why Bad Santa was even a thing. What a frustrating character and I still don’t know why he is so foul.
These characters have become like close friends and I can't wait for each new book to visit with them again. Each new situation brings them all closer and shows just how people can accomplish things if they accept each other's quirks and look beyond them.
This story was wild ride with some crazy characters! An all around beautiful Christmas story with a wonderful take on the true meaning of the christmas spirit. This is going in my yearly holiday read pile for sure!
A Christmas land wedding! If that's not enough to stress Rosie and Declan out. Nick stops by and needs Christmas spirit. It is to Rosie and Declan to save Christians
I have followed this series and read each release, but this one was by far my least favorite. The typos and grammar mistakes were distracting and the storyline just wasn't that interesting.
Loved how Santa and his family popped into Rosie's life and wreaked all Xmas plans. Even the Wisemen made an appearance! Let's hope a wedding happens on the next installment.
Christmas was about to become a thing of the past. Declan, Rosie, Maggie and Gabe with all their friends in Mosswood need to pull out all every bit of magic they possess to make Christmas the special day it is meant to be.
