When our eyes met for the first time, I knew my life would never be the same. And when we kissed for the first time, there were fireworks just like those love songs said there would be. And when he pulled back, I begged him to be with me. But he put my boyfriend, his younger brother, first.
I was sixteen when Bash Salvatore entered my life. I only had him for two years before I shut him out. But those two years were a wild ride that I'd repeat forever.
We don't get a happy ending, not yet. Life isn't fair and sometimes we don't get what we want.
*This is a prequel to Killing Calm but doesn't have to be read to still enjoy Killing Calm and the rest of The Salvatore Brotherhood MC series.
This book contains material some readers might find triggering such as: Sexual assault, alcohol use, explicit sexual content, swearing/crude language, and some violence.
Hi, I'm Haley Tyler, a dark romance author from Texas!
I’m the one behind the gritty Salvatore Brotherhood MC series and the dark paranormal romance Calling on the Reaper. My stories are filled with characters you love to hate and plots that twist and turn when you least expect it.
I’ve been telling stories my whole life, but I officially became a published author in 2021 with my debut novel, Killing Calm (book 1 in the SBMC series!). Since then, I’ve been living and breathing my dark, twisted worlds.
When I’m not writing, you can catch me listening to Taylor Swift or heavy metal (because there’s no in-between), binge-watching the latest TV series, or diving into a good romance novel.
If you’re looking for your next dark romance obsession, you’ve found it. Welcome to my world!
A back telling story that lays down a painful, tragic yet real pain that goes from your eyes right to your heart.
Addie and Bash are back again and the road to happy for them is a ride that is the bumpiest and heartbreaking. I received an ARC for an honest and voluntarily review.
Haley does it again with "At First Sight." The story of Addie and Bash is one you can help but to be obsessed with. When the characters felt pain, it was described in such detail, that I felt it too. When they were happy, you also felt happy. This story elicited emotions of happiness, anger, gut wrenching sadness, and love. At First Sight was a great short that explained Addie and Bash's story prior to Killing Calm and was 100000% worth the read! I absolutely loved it and cannot wait to read more.
loved it !!! love this series... love Addie and Bash.. and Reid... this is their story... a fast paced action packed dark drama...I agree to tutor Reid , my boyfriend... until, I meet Bash... he becomes my everything but, he sets me aside... for his brother Reid... things go from bad to worse... I've lost everything !!! a heart breaking story of what if's... trigger warning...

Bash is a biker and Adelaide is his younger brothers girl. But they want each other. This romance is full of bad timing, danger, heartache and trauma with their love being tested for years without each other.

Now we know how it all begin with Bash and Addies story. How can she pick one. Bash decided for her. Love, desire and heartache awaits. Can’t wait to see what Haley Tyler brings us.
I don't know how I feel about this book, so I'm not sure if I will read the next book (Killing Calm) which is a continuation of Bash and Addie's story.
I feel really bad about what happened to Addie. It feels wrong to point out the things I didn't like about her knowing what she went through in the end of the book but I can't ignore that I didn't like her character most of the book. She was very frustrating and it felt like everything was always on her terms and about her feelings. She put all the blame on Bash whenever something happened with them.
Bash was fine. I didn't mind his character but there were times where I wish he had more of a backbone. He's supposed to be in an MC but I felt like he just didn't feel like he was tough enough at times. I felt like he let his brother get away with so much and he also let her jerk him around a lot as well. He was all bark and no bite.
Multiple times when they were on the outs, he would still be there for her which I appreciated but I feel like she took advantage of his generousity. She wouldn't talk to him or would ignore him and fuck his brother but then would call him for help then he would show up and help her just for her to turn around and yell at him for not fighting for her, etc but she never fought for him either. She always wanted him to put it in all the work but she never did. She would get mad at him for doing things that she did too which is hypocritical. She was so hot and cold, it was annoying and confusing. She was always just waiting around for him to save her but never tried to save herself. She just blamed him for not saving her while she was ignoring him and dating his brother.
She also still stays friends with Reid despite him calling her a slut when they were dating and being really controlling. I had grace for her when she was dating Reid because I thought maybe she felt like she couldn't safely leave but she got out of the relationship but still let him stay in her life and she would defend him to Bash, etc. It was so confusing. I don't understand how Reid just ended up getting away with the way he treated her and they just acted like it was all fine that he was controlling and called her names.
Then there was a scene where Bash is snippy with her and Reid is like "Don't speak to her like that" and I'm just confused why he thinks he has any right to call Bash out when he continuously berated Addie and called her names but Bash has an attitude with her and he's suddenly all protective over her. I don't get why he just got away with so much and nothing happened with him. Also, could have gone without the two scenes of her hooking up with Reid considering he's not the MMC.
Her and Bash's relationship throughout the book was just a mess and they were both immature at times. The back and forth was frustrating. There were glimpses of them where I could see them being really good together which is why I'm unsure on whether I want to read their other book or not. If it's just going to be them going back and forth the whole time, I think I'll skip it. It was frustrating enough to read 80pgs of that in the novella
I decided to pick a random book from my TBR and I totally forgot that I had this book here and what it was about or why I added it. I kind of went into this not knowing what it was about which I don't think made a difference to how I would feel about this book. I understand that it's a prequel novella to the first book in a series but honestly, it didn't make me want to read it. There was nothing that I enjoyed about this book and there was so much that just wasn't great.
The writing of this book was really hard to captivate me because there were constant time jumps after a chapter where it would've been nice to see what happened after. There was no real time for you to care about these characters or why Addie should be with any of the brothers when they're both horrendous. Bash has the emotional maturity of a child and Reid literally rapes her but we don't talk about that since they're dating, right? Honestly there was a point where he became abusive and I just don't understand how she was so trusting with him after they stopped dating. Also, Bash just seeing it happen and not saying anything like he literally fought with him in the beginning when he thought he was going to rape her.
The ending was just so sloppy and just confusing because Addie literally said she wouldn't drink insinuating that she didn't want to be inebriated without being with someone she trusted but she took a drink from a random person. I'm NOT saying that it's Addie's fault that she got raped but for someone who's so precautious, it's just not believable that she would take that drink. I feel like this was meant to give context and excitement for the first book of the series but instead it's completely steering me to the other direction because no one is likable and the writing is inconsistent.
I was going to read Killing Calm and saw that this was the novella prequel for that book so I read this first and I’m so glad I did because I totally hated this book and was happy to know that before I decided to dedicate myself to reading an entire book. I know novellas have a different timeline they have to follow but this was so incredibly rushed it felt strange I had no connection to the characters at all I felt nothing towards them if anything it felt cringe and awkward. I’m def not going to read the other books cause I could barely sit through this novella. And the attempted assault and actual on page assault Addie experienced were heart wrenching I was not prepared for that. Also Addie’s entire relationship with Bash’s brother was so uncomfortable and felt forced and gross.

This is the 1st book I've read written by Haley Tyler; I can’t wait to read more of her books.
She has written a good short story. The story is about Addie, Reid & Bash; Addie & Reid are together but when she meets his brother Bash sparks fly between them. She doesn’t want to hurt Reid but she wants to be with Bash. He can’t let that happen because of his brother.

I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review. This book is the prequel to the series and gives us the story between Addie, Reid and Bash. It shows us where they started their journey and the struggles of young love, family and heartache. I first read Killing Calm, but I suggest you start here and then dive right into it. Emotional highs and lows that will pull you in

4 1/2 stars An angst filled story with palpable emotion and drama. The characters drew me in and I enjoyed reading this book. I liked the emotional impact. I requested a copy of this book and am voluntarily writing a review.
They are both idiots. I’ll be waiting for them to get their heads out of their asses cause I already go the next book☝️. The ending was so fucking sad but cute? Man…
This is the prequel novella for “Killing Calm” and I just love Bash and Addie so freaking much. I wish I would’ve read this before I read “Killing Calm” BUT it doesn’t have to be read first. I enjoyed getting more context and backstory to Addie and Bash’s relationship — and seeing the dynamic of Reid tossed in there, too. I just adore this series.
Honestly one of the best novellas I have read. I read this one after reading Killing Calm and if helped me understand some of where the character's feelings in Killing Calm originated. This novella also made me severely hate Reid and made me wonder how this man ever thought he still had a claim to make 😂

What a fantastic prequel to this MC series that was recommended to me! I love a good love triangle and Addie’s story seems to be just that. I can’t wait to see what she does. The end of this had me in my emotions. Haha I’m fining into book 1 now! Check your trigger warnings!
