In a world of hyper-productivity, a modern division of classes emerges between the gifted and the blanks—the haves and the have-nots.
As a scientist at the prestigious Vision Office, the life of Vincent Turner takes a thrilling turn when he joins the research project on a former blank who has somehow acquired a gift. The project disrupts the carefully-maintained social order of the world, and presents the country an opportunity to make everyone truly equal.
Richly thought-provoking and meticulously crafted, Giftless offers an honest confrontation with the future that has been long overdue.
I went into this unsure of what to expect but I’m pleased by the unique foundation layered by the author. I’m not into dystopians, at all and as the title suggested, a mild dystopian indeed. And it actually works. I felt there were parts where it was awkward and chunky. Some of the transitions between scenes were too abrupt and I have some personal opinions on characterization that I’m sure others wouldn’t care about. All in all, the foundation of the story felt original.

I would say this book did have some good moments and the general divide between the blanks and gifted was done in a more unusual than I have seen before. However, there were times when I was a little bored and didn't feel like enough was happening. That being said I think this is not a hugely action driven book which while not bad is not my style.
In all I thought it was ok but I know people who enjoy less action and more power driven novels will enjoy this book more.
Dystopian novel, where there are the gifted and the giftless. I enjoyed reading this , there was great world building , and enough back story to follow along with the main character, Vincent. One of the lead scientists, as they explore the “malady” of being giftless or as they call in the book “blanks”. There was interesting comparisons to modern day society but perhaps that was the authors intent? I received this from Voracious Readers Only in exchange of an honest review . I did enjoy this and look forward to the sequel .
I received a free copy of voracious readers only. I enjoyed aspects of this book such as the society concept and character building. At times I found it a little difficult to understand the world building and plot. I enjoyed the different perspectives of the characters and the ending was good. If you enjoy books that are more slower paced and more power driven, this one is for you.
