Author Clara Lewis has always been an avid fan of mysteries. As a child, she devoured the “Nancy Drew” and “Hardy Boys” series’s, which inspired her desire to write her own mystery thrillers. Though Clara’s journey took her in several different directions, she eventually published her debut series early in 2021.

Besides spending her time creating vast worlds and convoluted mysteries for her readers to divulge in, Lewis spends her time at her home in Portland, Oregon. As a mother and wife, she wears many hats, and can often be found baking and crocheting.

Lewis always had a passion for creating, and she wants nothing more than to provide the same thrills she loves to her readers. She loves to read (and smell) books just as much as she loves to write them! She has several projects in the works, and can’t wait to share them with her audience.

It seems there is a serial killer on the loose. He is killing young women. Chief Lagarde is puzzled, and she knows she needs to solve this case before panic ensues. This is a good mystery that will leave you with a cliffhanger! It is a short easy read, and it is also clean. Once you start this series, you will be hooked. I highly recommend you start at the beginning.

Detroit, MI. A serial killer is targeting women.
Detective Angelina (Detroit PD Homicide) noticed someone was following her, then she started getting phone calls & texts.
Stephanie (25+) had been picked up in a bar, drugged & taken to a remote place.
He brought out bleach & made sure he wiped every trace of his fingerprints off her.
Detective Paul, Detective Paul (Detroit PD Homicide), forensics, v& the CSI arrived at the crime scene.

Danny’s Kitchen. Danielle (former Detroit PD Officer, restaurant owner) greeted Detective Angelina when she arrived.
Mia was walking down the street & had no idea a man was tailing her.
Mia was slowly gaining consciousness.
Another dead body had been found by the dock.

The yellow tape WAS around the scene with the inscription Crime Scene Do Not Cross.

I do not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing free books from publishers & authors. Therefore, I am under no obligation to write a positive review, only an honest one.

An awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very professionally written serial killer (short story) book. It was quite easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a huge description list of unique characters, settings, facts etc. to keep track of. This could also make another great serial killer movie, or better yet a mini-TV series. It wasn’t as exciting as I hoped so I will only rate it at 3/5 stars.

Thank you for the free author; BookFunnel; PDF book

I read murder mysteries all the time. This has to be one of the worst. The writing was elementary, sounded like it was written for a school project. The main character, Angelina, is the chief of police investigating mulltiple murders. This police chief doesn't seem to know much about police work, examples she receives a threat that if she doesn't drop the case a loved one will be killed. The person threatening her goes on to tell her he knows the daily routine of this loved one. Angelina calls her loved one to tell him to be careful. She offers police protection but the loved one declines. Angelina says well if you are sure. WHAT, you are not going to insist? This killer has already killed at least 2 people. Another example, another body is found, in the previous murders the killer used bleach to clean up the evidence, in this murder there was no bleach used. The detective tells her there are still no fingerprints and the chief of police asks, how is that even possible? DUH, gloves? There arevtoo many more to cite her, trust me. If this wasn't a short novella I would have trashed it after Angelina asked that question. NOT WORTH THE TIME. Probable won't read anymore of Ms. Lewis's book.

As Chief of Police Angelina has her hands full. But Her therapist Dr Gilbert asks her to find another therapiost since he feel there is a conflict. Next she learns there is a serial killer loose and while she visits her former friend Danielle, she finds a can of bleach with blood on it. She cannot think that her friend coudl be a killer but she later learns that the killer is a male. Her luck changes when a female who was attacked is able to identify the person who attacked her . A police artist is able to draw a picture and Angelina is able to realize who it is. But she has trouble believing it.The suspect is brought in and Angelina interrogates him and he admits his guilt .As she retuns home , she receives a call with bad news , it appears that several police officers were killed and noone seems to know who did it. Was it the killer and did he manage to escape? Perhaps the next book will let us know.

Detective Lagarde is searching for a serial killer who is a ghost and will stop at nothing to bring him to justice. What will she do when her only clue leads her to someone close to her. I am fully engaged with Angelina and I am enjoying her stories. If you enjoy stories that will have you on the edge of your seat, you will love the Detective Lagarde series. I received an advance copy of this book and this is my honest review.

Another young girl murdered. Chief Angelina Lagarde and her team continue to track down the serial killer. While this happens, Angelina is suddenly dropped by her long-time psychologist who has developed feelings for her. The investigation now leads her to some suspects known to her personally. Chief Lagarde is exhausted from the last case she worked on. Now there’s a serial killer stabbing women in their twenties and leaving no clues. This author knows how to tell a story that keeps the reader turning the page to find the answers. The end always leaves the reader up in the air until the next book. A cliffhanger.

Another serial killer strikes close to home for Chief Legarde. I liked the red herring approach to the serial killer in this case. There are hints about the serial killer’s identity but they are very vague, so it compeled me to avidly follow the action. I found it a page turner and difficult to set aside. I received a free ARC copy for an honest review.

I loved the way the plot kept you reading and didnt disclose all its secrets till the end! A serial killer on the loose... Det. Lagarde is on the case. With mystery, twist & turns which you wont believe and suspects which seem to be close to the Detective there is never a dull moment. I enjoyed this read!

Once again, the author has us intrigued with the continuing story of Detective Lagarde. Her work in Detroit is never-ending and this story shows how determined she is to find the person who is killing women. Each of the women that have been found dead has been found in their bed. There has to be a clue as to how this is happening and Detective Lagarde was going to find it. Great series.

Received as ARC. Angelina is having tough times. Her therapist decided to quit seeing her, due to his increasing feelings for her. She also is being followed by someone, and a serial killer is targeting young women. Good story line and ending.

I know the novel is part of a series, but

The writing seems to get less and less interesting as the series continues. Need to start reading some other novelist. Barely recommended
