After thirty-five years in prison, convicted serial killer Alfred Hunter has the chance to clear his name. His son, criminal defense attorney Tex Hunter, has fought hard to prove his father’s innocence, but powerful forces have been against them. The criminal underworld, corrupt politicians, and the Chicago Police Department all need to keep the truth from coming out. When a piece of hidden evidence is unveiled, Hunter has the chance to demand a retrial.
For his whole life, Tex Hunter has battled to free his father from prison, but to reveal the truth, to finally uncover what happened, he must take the greatest risk of all…
Peter O'Mahoney is a brilliant writer who totally immerses the reader in the story painted with masterful strokes to bring the scenes to life. At one point I could taste the dinner Text Hunter enjoyed, I was so captivated. This novel is definitely my favorite series of legal thrillers. No spoilers here, read the series!
This’s the best book out of the7 so far. This book was so emotional for me, I don’t even know why I was crying most of the time. I was crying because I was happy, then sad then heartbroken 💔. Tex fought so hard for his father. And when he didn’t win, I burst out crying, I was so hurt for Tex. My emotions were just all over the place. I realized that a person childhood can determine your adulthood. Tex childhood was a very sad and traumatic experience but he was still compassionate and humble. He still believed in the good old justice. He believed truth would prevail. He believed in his father’s innocence and he remained faithful to that belief. His father was a great man who taught Tex the importance of life values. Tex lived by those principles his father instilled into him. I felt it in my soul when Tex beg his dad to hang on for him. That scene and the sunset scene ripped my soul. Bravo for Michelle for finally doing something good and right. I just love the Hunter family. They are so close-knit after experiencing loss, tragic and turmoil early in their lives. I can’t imagine being subjected to the rejection and being an outcast because of society’s cruelty, but they overcame those monstrosities. I still think Tex needs some counseling. I wish there were more real life Tex in this world. I won’t speak on the relationship with Esther, I’m not fond on that. I’m gonna let them have that romance part of the storyline, I’m not a romantic.
I was surprised; did not expect the fast paced, well considered, smartly written novel this is. I've been reading the Travis McGee stories of JD MacDonald - a high bar in the detective genre - and consider this easily with the same laudable praise. Tex Hunter, a relatively young lawyer, finds a way, after years of trying, to get his father released from a life sentence for a bloody, serial series of murders - eight young girls of highschool age.
The story is not all legal mumbo, and not all grisly activity, and not all psycho babble, but some of each building suspense and tension. O'Mahoney is smart with his writing - just the right amount of everything a good novel needs, and the reading is easy and satisfying.
This was the best legal series books I have ever read !!!
When I read book one, I didn't stop to review it.. I immediately downloaded book two, three, four five six and the finale book seven. Throughout the story, I laughed and cried. I questioned how people could be so cruel to one another. I got angry when the right thing to do was not politically correct. But the series ending was a marathon in reading. I couldn't but the book down. I cried like a baby at the ending. THIS BOOK IS A MUST READ.
This is the stupidest fucking reasoning to allow your family to suffer for so long. The father is a goddamn idiot and the daughter is probably stupider with more freedom of mobility.
You should be ashamed of yourself for prolonging the stupidest twist I forced myself to read in a while.
You sacrificed your entire family just for the life of your moron of a daughter?
You are a terrible, stupid writer. Look me in the eyes and tell me if you see a guilty man. Are you kidding me? To a fucking ten year old?
This was the first book of 7 in the series that I read. it was good but I don't think I will read the other 6, not now anyway. the story is a bit far-fetched but I guess it can happen that way. Recently many long-term prisoners have been released based on DNA and new evidence. Not sure of a convicted serial killer.
This story was monotomous to me and I felt like going to the end of the book to find out the ending but I did read it through.
Much anticipated Book 7 did not disappoint. Mostly interaction and insight into the personal lives of Tex and his family. Truth is revealed and justice is finally won as a perceived demon is exposed to be a genuine hero. I enjoy reading this author because he tells a good story and always interjects humor. Can't wait for Book 8!
This book is an ending and a beginning for all readers and for the main characters. These last seven books have been thrilling and the characters are those one wants to know more about. I look forward to reading more about them in the future as well as a new thriller series The Southern Lawyer!
This was a really good read. Makes you think about life and how people want power so much they are willing to kill for it. There are not many men left like Alfred Hunter or Tex Hunter. It shows how broken our Justice system is and is broken by the politicians who only care about greed.
This book in this incredible series is by far the best. Peter O’Mahoney really weaved all the books in the series into a very suspenseful novel. Tex Hunter’s determination to get his father free of his prison sentence really involved in the story. And the ending is one of the best that you will ever experience. Read it!
As with the other books in this series, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The author has a way to keep the reader engaged and turning the pages. It was also a book that gave hope and insight to wrong convictions in our society. Insight that everything isn’t as it appears and hope that justice can be given. I hope there are many attorneys like Tex Hunter.
I thought there would be no plot line anymore after 6 books. But this blew my mind, I was so drawn in by the plot that it felt so real. It was literally as if I was seeing it okay out in real life, caught up with all my emotions and feeling. Excellent piece. Can’t wait to read book 8.
In my opinion, this was the best in the series. The characters, plots and main story line were so well done and this book was full of intensity all the way through. Can’t wait to see what direction we go from here.
This book is outstanding. By the time I got to the end, I was in tears and did not want it to end. Hopefully, there will be another installment detailing the personal lives and marriage of Ted and esther and the start of their family and their advetures.
This is book 7 of the Tex Hunter series. A dramatic conclusion of the saga of a lawyer, son of a convicted serial killer, working to prove his father's innocence. All of the books are well written and you feel you are part of the story. I would definitely recommend all 7 books. Excellent.
I have now read even of this authors books. One it hard not to put book down. It takes me three day to read each book cover to cover. Then look or the next story.
The odds are against him but this guy just won’t give up. The Author truly has a convincing handle on the criminal Justice or maybe in some cases injustice system. The book has all the elements of a great read for me.
The main character, Ted Hunter is so righteous in his belief in the justice system despite its many flaws. Once again you have a happy ending for Tex. The author needs to tell us more about his love interest, Esther.
oh wow keep reading you won’t believe what happens
Well all of Tex’s hard work and his fight for justice for his father all will come to end. Keep reading to find out what happens and if it all pays off in the end.
This is a great book with a fascinating storyline. It is more a drama genre than legal genre. Although it is the seventh book in the series, it reads like it should have been the first. I read this book first, and now I am eager to read the rest of the series from the beginning.
This is probably one of his best books. Couldn’t help but have those tears after reading this. A very sad, but happy ending. Tex finally got what he wanted. Can’t wait to read what the future holds for him. Loved it.
Finally Alfred innocence is clear. The ending of the book was sad but joyful at the same time. All the pieces came together for a great read .thanks for writing such a intertaining book.
This series is one of the best I have ever read. From the first page you are kept on your toes. It tells a powerful story of never giving up with what you believe.
What a GREAT read. All about JUSTICE, INTEGRITY, HONESTY. A page by page grip. Heartfelt and loving. GREAT job Peter. I haven't finished all your books, but I will as soon as I can.
It took 7 books and 4days for me to know that Alfred Hunter was innocent but I I already knew he was innocent but what I didn't k know was detective Brown had something to with it I really treading all of the justice books
This book reminded me of how the truth can prevail over corrupt politicians and police who are willing to bend the rules. So glad that hunter didn't give up his quest for justice . His family endured a lot for 30 yrs
I’m an avid reader of 75 years and can tell a master storyteller. I will read them all. Beautifully chiseled characters. Storyline is tight and makes a hell of sense. Thanks!!
I read this book in 2 days, couldn't put it down. Everything fell into place and made my heart happy and sad. Father's who protect their daughters are amazing humans. And I finished the book on Father's Day.
Finally! It was painstakingly reading, but the pain was worth it. It proves that tenacity and perseverance pay in the end. How sweet to have your loved on exonerated . Excellent job. It was just right.
I have read and enjoyed all of the Tex Hunter books but this one really tugs at your heart strings. I anxiously awaited the Appellate court decision. The ending was beautiful and poignant.
