Great helpful information for striving to achieve health and preventing illness and disease. However, the author was definitely trying to sell his products which was annoying at times.
Good read, but a lot I already knew, and was surprised to see the diet for the first 21 days is Keto, which I have done, and it has bad side effects for me. I went to a functional doc when I was in Kansas, she is s MD and also trained in functional medicine, and she told me that it was the best diet for me and to add 250 ml of magnesium up to 4 times daily for constipation and it works well at 2 times daily and I am doing good. (She spent over an hour w/ me and my son at my exam! answering all our questions!)
More like 3.5* All the typos distracted me to the point that it started to discredit the work. And yes, it was a lot of pushing his own products. The repeat info, verbatim, was also annoying. However, meat off the info was beneficial and I did learn a few things. The meal plan looks pretty good. If they would just get an editor or something...
This book is very uplifting! He wants to help everyone be healthy! What I think is very good, is that he has actual recipes, to help along the way! He has topics he details and summarises each one, also summarising at the end. He has info you can go to, online, to help more, too. He sells his book for just shipping fees. Enjoy!
Definitely excited to start the 21 day guide and workbook. I went with 4 stars because of the typos.... definitely need a better editor. I agree 100% that we as Americans rely on a "healthcare" system that is primarily focused on "sick care" and that needs to change.
This is a book designed to build healthy bodies and maintain that health through clean eating. Combine that with movement and regular detoxification leads to better health with NO medications. Dr. livingood says “ the measure of a doctor should not be by how many people he/she put on drugs but by how many he/she helped get off drugs and stay off.” He’s included a 21 day challenge with recipes that include NO sugar. You can use the QR codes to go to his website for a plethora of programs and materials. I ordered the book along with a “Make Food Simple” workbook/recipe book.
It is a good book with a plan for maintaining health. I agree with most of it, but I'm not sure if it will work for someone who is already very sick. I don't know. I learned a few new things such as the fix your frame section. I didn't realize the importance of that so overall I'm glad I read the book. It's valuable information and a quick read, and it includes a meal plan and exercise information!
I like the tips. However he quotes biblical passages yet prohibits Natures food during the plan. No fruit, no grains…basically low carb for 21 days. I just don’t agree that all carbs should be considered sugar. Just Eat Real Food Period!
Would be great for someone just starting out on a healthy journey. I highly recommend that, but for someone who has already made a lot of positive changes, not a lot of fine tuning advice... I just wasn't the ideal audience for this one.
This book just makes sense, eat real food, dont eat too much, and exercise. I have been doing intermittent fasting for about a year now and really like it, I am excited to try some things that Dr. Livingood suggests.
Through this book I've learned new things as well as being reminded of things I already knew. The author explains things in easily understandable terms. Some other reviewers have said he's just trying to push his products, but he IS running a business, so that's to be expected. I didn't find him overly pushy at all. His plan and ideas can readily be followed without buying his merchandise. I've been reminded that my body and my health are gifts from God and to be cared for. He states that our current "healthcare" system is really a sick-care system, created to save lives in crisis. While expressing gratefulness for that, he claims that it is not (generally) created to make people healthy. We need to be responsible for our and our family's health. He then proceeds to lead his readers to good food, fitness, a better focus, nutrients, avoiding toxins, etc. Sure, we can find these ideas in many "healthcare" books, but I found this book to be particularly helpful and encouraging. It includes recipes and a 21-day challenge workbook to get you started. And, yes, the author's name really is Dr. Blake Livingood!
Fresh take on what it takes to get a grip on food consumption. I think I have read every “diet” book out there and this is a “life style change” workbook that provides thorough explanations as to WHY being better to our bodies makes sense. I was surprised it has a Christian-based religious tie, but this is not overwhelming. (I’m also Christian, so this was a welcome tie-in). There is a 30 day plan to follow that includes recipes and meal plans - everything needed to get started putting the ideas into practice.
I really enjoyed the book but like many books it’s not very detailed in how to “fix” anything other than eat right, exercise, and try not to stress. The “better frame” is what I would like info on and how to correct other than improve your posture. Another great thing about the book is how he includes a meal plan, food list, and recipes. I guess all in all you could research on how to fix the nerve system he is referring to and he does give you his website to go to for more info.

Tried the muffin recipe and it's pretty good, I will try a few more. I'm avoiding meat, other than seafood, and the book has meats as a primary source of protein and dairy products, which is fine, but I'm trying to stay away from those products as much as possible. The primary message I agree with as obesity has become a major problem with people in the US, and if this book help some people to reduce weight and become healthier, I'm all for it.
Loved this book! Great tips on how to achieve & live a healthy lifestyle. 5 fixes of real health. Things to avoid & some good recipes to get started on your way to a 21 day guide to experience real health.
worst book ever! this is NOT a workbook. it is a crap publication to spend money..absolutely lame..gives no real assistance or information. Whoever Dr Livinggood is? this book is alll about him! horrendous..
