Lia Dove has always been a free spirit, living life to the fullest and never putting down roots. But after finding her birth father, along with a group of lovable, rowdy bikers, she can’t imagine being anywhere else. Throw in a hot biker roommate who offers her no-strings-attached deal as the cherry on top and leaving becomes an afterthought.
Leo Hawk has never felt part of anything until he becomes a prospect in a local motorcycle club. But catching feelings for his roommate, who’s also the club president’s daughter, could spell disaster before he earns his patch.
But when the past comes back to haunt him thanks to his missing older brother, Leo will have to lean on his biker brothers for help, risking a future with the club and the woman he’s grown to love.
Broken Dove is an interconnected standalone friends-to-lovers, motorcycle club romance, but can be read and enjoyed alone.
Chelle Bliss delivers again! This friends to lovers romance keeps you engaged from start to finish. The chemistry between loveable characters, Lia and Leo, is undeniable and this story will pull on your heart strings throughout the book. Great read! Get it now! You won’t be disappointed!
Every time I read a Chelle Bliss story, I am awestruck at how wonderful the entire package is. From cover to content, she is always on-point. This series in particular I love even more because I’m an MC romance junkie and even tho the MC is not really a main focal point, the books still have MC elements embedded in the storyline and I am here for all of it.
We met Leo and Lia in the previous book but for those of you just joining the fun, this book stands as a complete standalone. You don’t have to read Broken Sparrow first, but why would you not? But that’s totally up to you. But do it. *wink* lol
The arrangement and its secrecy, that Leo and Lia have is not because either of them are put off by relationships but rather more because daddy reeeeeeally doesn’t have to find out LOL but these two are ridiculously explosive and all kinds of sparky sooooooo, you know what they say about the best laid plans and all that ;)
There’s a lot of action and drama happening in this story along the sides of the romance journey that make Broken Dove even more captivating and unputdownable. I read it in one sitting and wanted to go right back and read it again when I finished! Chell Bliss does an incredible job in building storylines and developing characters and making you feel everything that is happening in a story. Each book adds layers to the group of friends and characters to the world and I cannot wait to read even more about all of them!
I’m so excited about this series! Right from the start I was hooked immediately into the story. I absolutely loved Lia & Leo! They say they’re just roommates? Sure…totally believable…haha From all of the drama and suspense, to the sweet moments and strong MC family bonds. This was definitely one of my favorite reads!
I received an advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest review.
I’m loving this new series! Book two was definitely more emotional than I was expecting. Lia is the dog loving, sassy independent daughter of Tiny. Lia and her dogs live with Leo a prospect for the motorcycle club. Leo and Lia have a amazing connection and insane chemistry they think they are keeping things casual but deep inside their feelings are brewing. These two roommates definitely keep each other on their toes. When one thing after another happens and Leo learns that his brother has gotten himself into trouble. Lia and Leo work together to so it doesn’t bite Leo in the butt. I loved this book soo much! Lia and Leo were so great together. Of course Tiny and the MC gang were funny and supportive. Leo’s story was emotional because he truly wants what everyone wants, to be part of something and to fit in. I enjoy the fast paced writing style of this author and the depth of the characters. Chelle has a way of writing a characters personality, where you swear you know them. As I was reading I was getting excited about who the next book is going to be about! As one book ends I always get excited about the next book!
5 star Review Broken Dove (Open Road #2) by Chelle Bliss
We met both Lia Dove and Leo Hawk in Broken Sparrow and I was excited to see what Chelle Bliss had in story for this couple. This friends to lovers story ticked all the boxes for me with characters you cannot help but fall for and a story that will draw you in and keep you hooked from the first chapter to the last.
This is Leo Hawk and Lia Dove’s story and what a heartwarming and at times emotional story it was. The connection between roommates Leo and Lia is strong and their chemistry is off the charts.
However what happens when his past comes back to haunt him and danger rear’s it’s head? Will he be able to protect Lia? All Leo has every wanted is to belong to something and with the MC as a prospect he really feels as though he has found what has always been missing. Lia, daughter of the MC president Tiny was a wonderful character.
This was a well written, fast paces story with characters that are engaging and easy to relate to. I cannot wait for the next book in the series. One click this little gem, I doubt you will be disappointed.
Readers were first introduced to Leo (a young mechanic) and Lia (daughter of the MC president Tiny) in book one about Alice and Morris . In Broken Dove Leo, Lia and her three pooches are living quite happily on Leo’s house, following the disappearance of his No-good brother Tim after Morris had bought Leo’s family garage and all the associated buildings. This book has a slight point of difference from other friends to lovers romances in that the pair are already well …. Doing the business, though it’s a secret, and neither have professed their love-each-other feelings to one another. When an old friend of Tim’s (Arrow) reveals Tim is about to lose the house due to skipping bail, Leo and Lia spring into action to try and find him, as neither want to see their situation changed.
Leo is portrayed as a loveable and (obviously) besotted roommate. Lia is an idealistic, free spirited animal lover who all but walks around with a rainbow and sprinkles left in her wake. When Arrow offers to help Lia, it prompts a significant event which has the potential to change the lives of Leo and Lia forever. There’s a hefty amount of steam between Leo and Lia here, with communication on every subject other than their feelings towards one another. There’s also a slight spark between Arrow and Lia which is was feeling not great about - as love triangles really aren’t a trope I appreciate. This book has little lead up to the dramatic part but it’s quickly resolved and I think I was ready for a little more searching by Leo and Lia before the drama. It left me feeling like things could have been explored more deeply giving the couple a bit more complexity. As it stood this read a little like a novella, and whilst I loved the outcome felt a bit bummed we didn’t see this pair developed more. Thumbs up from the cameos from Morris and Alice, the latter who is a bit more palatable second time round as well.
Looking forward to the next instalment.
Thanks to Valentine Pr for the complimentary copy.
I really loved Broken Dove. There was this subtle kind of rhythm to the way Chelle Bliss wrote this story that was addictive for me. Not just a love story of friends/roommates to more, the dynamic between Lia and Leo offers up some extra excitement as they try and figure out where Leo's errant brother Tim has disappeared to and how to stop the awful messes he left behind.
The chemistry is evident between Lia and Leo right from the start. They are playful and crazy for one another yet keep their relationship in the friend zone way too long for either of their likings. Living together is easy for both of them and to say they have each other's backs no matter what is the understatement of the year. Everyone sees the more they can't seem to embrace but I was hopeful that they would finally realize just how much they both loved each other. They both just needed a dose of reality to do so.
The mystery element of the book is a good one and I loved that beloved characters from previous books played a huge part in helping Leo figure out what to do wrt Tim and to get his head out of his A$$ when it came to Lia. Despite what eventually goes down, I did love how Lia put herself on the line for Leo and 'helped' Josh try and catch Tim. I have to add that although Josh is still a questionable kind of character, I do hope we get his story told at some point in the future.
There is just enough intensity that kept this story moving at a nice pace. There is a clear resolution to all that transpires, with just enough left open for eventual books that will still feature Lia and Leo as part of this ever-expanding family of brothers.
Lia's 'girl crew' of adorable dogs and the sweet Mikey as an added bonus give this story a charming feeling when everything seems to be headed in the wrong direction. But Bliss manages to pull out a wonderful conclusion that is both explosive and touching and I loved every single word.
Well worth your time, I highly recommend Broken Dove and happily give it 5 solid stars!
I purchased book one at Apple, which is where we first met Lia and Leo. I wasn't sure what to make of Lia in Broken Sparrow. She seemed flighty to me, and her character didn't feel like it had a lot of substance.
I'm so happy Broken Dove proved that to be WRONG!
There's still a lot I'd like to know about Lia's past and her motivations. I felt like we got a much deeper glimpse of her character in this book, but there are still some secrets I'm hoping come out as the series progresses. Her love of dogs was heartwarming, and I loved how she found a way to make a business out of something she was so passionate about. I think she grew a lot during this story -- emotionally.
Leo has had such a rough time of it! His brother just kept messing up his life, even when he wasn't part of it anymore. I felt so bad for him. Of course, there was one scene with Lia that made me want to smack him upside the head. I hate spoilers, so I won't go into detail. You'll be delighted to know he does straighten up and realize he has something great right in front of him - a relationship he doesn't want to screw up.
For readers who want an "MC" read that's more about community, this is a great series. It doesn't have the same feel as other motorcycle club books. In fact, while the biker aspect of the story is a good-sized chunk of who the men are, the club itself is more in the background. Fans of Lani Lynn Vale's Dixie Wardens series will love Open Road (I know I do!).
Broken Dove was fast-paced, full of heat, emotion, and action. It kept me flipping the pages, eager to find out what happened next. Chelle Bliss knocked it out of the park with this one!
*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
When I read Broken Sparrow, the first book in the Open Road series, I knew we were in for a good one and Broken Dove certainly proved me right. This book had me from the second I started reading and given I read it in one day, that should say something about how much I enjoyed it!
Lia is the daughter of Tiny, the MC President, and given her dog loving nature, she owns a doggie daycare and grooming business. She is roommates with Leo, who owns a car repair business, but who is also a Prospect with the MC. They have a "roommates with benefits" arrangement, but it's pretty clear early on that those feelings likely run a lot deeper than they want to admit.
When Leo finds himself in a bind due to his brother's past coming back to haunt him, he leans on Lia for help, but things take some turns that no one sees coming. Leo finds out quickly that sometimes it's not your blood family, but the family that you choose, that will be there when the chips are down.
I was very surprised by how many emotions I felt reading this book. Not to say I don't normally feel emotions, I very much do, but I was not expecting it when I picked this book up. I LOVE that it had that effect on me because it just shows how well Chelle Bliss did of giving us parts of the story that we didn't expect and it showed so many sides to each of the characters.
While I enjoyed the first book in this series, I loved this one. I'm looking forward to what is next for us with this group of people!

Only roommates and friends with benefits? So they say…. Broken Dove (Open Road Series Book 2) by Chelle Bliss is chock full of steamy scenes with some serious elements within the plot. This roommates/friends with benefits is actually the real deal in all ways except for accepting the reality that hearts have long been involved. It takes antagonism from two angles to get Leo and Lia to accept what has been building, developing and blooming all along. I adore the characters in this series and Leo and Lia are pretty awesome. Both come with some baggage, but just enough to not overwhelm their love story. Leo is frustrated, angry and yet determined to make his life better. From his perspective, Lia is very important and he knows that she’s a piece of him, but as a free spirit, Leo is sure that she will move on and what they have will end. For me, Leo is all heart while trying to balance the fine line of roommate with benefits, friends, lovers, and an MC prospect in Lia’s father’s Club. Lia is truly a free spirit, brave, determined and has a beautiful big heart. Everything she does is with Leo in mind and still she fails or purposely ignores her heart’s yearning for Leo in every meaningful way. The plot keeps the reader on their toes as it feels like Leo has been dealt blow after blow, bringing him to a near breaking point. Amidst the adversity, he is slow to realize that he is not as alone as he imagines himself to be. And not just because of Lia who constantly supports him in all things. He has the MC solidly behind him as a family as well. Meanwhile, Lia is doing her level best to support and problem-solve then finds herself in the middle of a very dangerous situation. At this point, denying their hearts is impossible and both with do whatever it takes, especially Leo and no matter the consequences. Overall, Leo and Lia’s love story is classic casual to lasting love with a wonderful surprise along the way to their HEA. I read an ARC of this book via Valentine Promotions and am voluntarily sharing my review.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports

Get ready for an emotional rollercoaster. IF you have read any of the other books in this series than you have met Leo and Lia. Now Lia, her three fur babies and Leo are all living in Leo's house following the disappearance of his brother Tim. He disappeared after Morris bought the family garage and all the buildings that were around it. I just loved Leo and Lia and they have quiet the story to tell really and you get it from all kinds of points of view and his brother Tim is about to lose the house they are in because he has skipped out on the bail money. This puts them on the move to find Tim and make this right. Let the adventure and all the good things that come with it begin. I really loved reading this book. This is one that you do not want to miss.
I could not put Broken Dove down. It was one of those books that needed to be read in a day. Bookmarks were not allowed. Food could be delivered. There was nothing that was going to make me put Broken Dove away for an extended period of time. When finished, I just sat and let my mind rest in bliss, pure Chelle Bliss.
I was thrilled to hear that Lia and Leo were getting their own story. I imagined many things, but my mind is no where near as amazing as that of Chelle Bliss. At times I felt as if I was watching one of those Halloween movies. You no where you can see something coming but the character is clueless? I was yelling at the characters, seeing impending danger.
Hold on to your hat, the story is going to be a wild rush. Grab some "Stop the Bite". Broken Dove is a real nail biter. I thought what Leo had gone through in Broken Sparrow was bad. It was really, really bad, but it is nothing compared to what Leo and Lia will go through in Broken Dove.
Thankfully, I had the knowledge of a happily ever after that kept me going. I earned this happily ever after. I loved the happily ever after. I hope you will as well.
I just love Chelle Bliss’ mc romances and this one was no exception. Broken Dove is the second book in her Open Road Series and I devoured it. Lia and Leo took me by surprise in the best of ways. Not only do they have magnetic chemistry, the banter between them was fun, witty and charming. Their friends with benefits secret relationship has worked well for them and they both have their reasons for not letting their hearts get too involved. I love the support the mc club offers. Especially when one of their own is in need they do not think twice about stepping in. Not only is this a sweet, sexy romance it also has suspense and some action and kept me turning the pages from beginning to end. My heart felt for Leo as his feelings grow for Lia and he is juggling keeping her safe and the complications of his past and all it brings to his new found family within the club. If you like contemporary, friends to lovers and mc romance this is the story to pick up! You will not be disappointed.
I was excited to find Lia and Leo's story on my kindle, I have been waiting for their story since reading Broken Sparrow. Lia and Leo live together in Leo's house and have a friends with benefits deal. Lia is the daughter of Tiny who is the president of the MC and Leo is a prospect. When parts from Leo's past come calling and looking for his brother, things get scary. Does Leo tell Tiny how he feels about Lia and take the punishment if there is any? Will he accept the MC's help when he needs them? What happens when his brother shows up? This story is filled with all the feelings that make a story and keep you interested and want to find out what is going to happen. I love this author's writing style and the way you feel as if you are part of the story. I recommend this or any story from this author and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. **I voluntarily reviewed an advance complimentary copy of this book.**
Broken Dove returns readers to the awesome Open Road Series and Lia and Leo's story and what a story it is, with so many emotions evoked Ms Bliss really pulls it out of the bag and delivers two characters who have a variety of different sides to them and made this story such a joy to read. So much so, i couldn't put it down and read it in just a few hours. And with plenty of heat, great supporting characters and a lovely message that family can come in many forms and doesn't have to be the one you are born into. This truly was an enthralling read, and I can't wait to read more from these characters in the future. I would happily recommend.
This will be the only place I put this review at. Even though I have DNFed this book at 35% I just...I will do my best not to do nay spoilers but honestly I have a huge pet peeve especially when it comes to MC romances. First off this is a Roommate-Fling type where the heroine really is wild & free if you will. Then we have the Hero who is a MC prospect at his roommates father's club. He came off to me as so weak even form the start, just was not attractive to me granted maybe he got better through out the book but I'll never know because what really set me off is the heroine. There is not more un-sexy and unattractive in a book or real life than the heroine being wishy-washy. MC romances to me are where the hero is alpha and all about his heroine and the heroine being strong, sassy and a good woman. The heroine I know for a fact I would have hated her through out the book, that said no spoilers but what made me DNF is the fact that another man came into the picture, now what happens with them through out the book again I'll never know nor do I want to because I was so pissed she was making all the comments on the hero's friend and how 'I'm not attached i can do whatever i want' just makes me want to 'gag' just reminds me how bad I hate to read any YA immature heroines. That's all I am saying about this, I have given this author about 6 books try and I think I am officially done. Nothing wrong with her books, her writing is actually amazing, but this just is not for me and I simply expressed as to why. Just a personal preference! *now angry again even after a couple of days while writing this
I love Leo and Lia together, i’m glad they got their own book! This is a fast paced, kept me on the edge of my seat story. They both have a lot to overcome and their journey to find their way. I can’t wait for the series to continue!
Lia is the MC's President and she has an arrangement living with prospect Leo, they are supposed to be roommates but Lia can't seem to stop toying with Leo who she has started a friends with benefits relationship with. Leo is dedicated to getting his patch but what happens if his arrangement with Lia is exposed and that does not even factor in his brother coming back into his life and derailing everything he has worked so hard for.
I like build ups to a relationship and Lia and Leo are involved from the beginning. I didn't see the chemistry between them until midway through. Wanted to like more then I did.
a high almost 4 star rating for me (high 3 is where i will place it. yeppers. that is right.). just the book 1 in this "Open Road series" was more of a favorite for me. i had PreOrdered this from Amazon, but for some reason like all PreOrders they cancel it and then i have to repurchase the book the opening day (release day, whatever u wanna call that)??! any who ...don't get me started on Amazon ...i truly don't get them ...so i have decided i will keep all book on my list there and i know when they will be hopefully released and i will go and by a kindle copy ..that is what i did for this one ... PreOrdering does nothing for me ... might be sad for the author but i don't know what to say?? it is kind of fishy ... like a lot of things with Amazon these days. don't get me started ...cause like i said i have so many stories it is just plain SAD!! i enjoy the doggies, main characters. i feel book one was easier to fit into ...follow. HEA ending for all the doggies ...that made me so happy. KU ends for me on Feb 27th. so i will be making more book buying decisions soon. i have a huge bunch of books to read. giveaways i have won. books on the TBR list. Audible listens as well. i am good to go. we will see.
As always Chelle Bliss delivers on the MC Romances. She and a few other authors are just so freaking amazing. The way she is able to write and create an almost immediate connection between the reader and the character is truly amazing in my opinion. This was a fast paced, spicy, and just an all around enjoyable story. I love these MC men that are actually teddybears. I was really excited for Lia and Leo for various reasons but I loved this boho "free loving" character who, let's be honest, was just kidding herself. And then Leo, the heart of gold loner that didn't know what he wanted until it was threatened. What a great story of what it means to show and tell people you love them because it could be the last time. Those moment's count, even if they are painful, even if they require you to put away your pride they are worth it. I am so excited for the next story of the Open Road series! I have an idea of who it is but I won't say! I generously received this book as an ARC. All opinions are my own.
Broken Dove, book two is the Open Road series is a perfect combination of endearing characters and a storyline with just the right amount of steamy moments and danger to keep the pages turning. Lia Dove, the club president’s daughter and Leo Hawk, a Disciples MC prospect have been roommates for a while and they definitely fall into the ‘with benefits’ category and while they may have been trying to keep it casual, feelings have definitely gotten involved for both of them. Lia is a sassy, spitfire with a positive outlook who definitely balances out Leo’s more broody demeanor and they make a great team with everything they do, but now when Lia is in danger, Leo has to look to his MC brothers and team up with an unlikely ally in order to keep her safe. I really enjoyed this story and I think it is a fantastic addition to this series!
Lia is a very free spirit, but it seems she may be putting down roots in this book. Having Tiny for a dad is awesome and frustrating at the same time. Lia is living with Leo who is now a prospect in the club. He's lost almost everything because of his brother, Tim. The club has come alongside Leo and is kind of supporting him by letting him continue as a mechanic, etc. Lia and Leo have a friend with benefits arrangement that seems to be working out well. There's a huge spark between the two of them and that really works. This story starts out with one, spicy chapter. Bliss cranks up the angst and adventure in this story and you don't want to miss what happens. I'm really enjoying this new series. I loved Lia and Leo together! 4 stars
I loved Lia in the first book of this series. We get to see even more of her free spirit in this book. Lia and Leo are roommates with benefits that they try hard to keep on the down low. Mostly so Lia's dad doesn't find out. But they both know deep in their hearts that their friendship is more. It just takes some life or death moments to help move along their feelings.
Great MC action. Love all the banter with Lia. Super steamy moments between these two. Off the charts! Leo is just the perfect hero in all of this as well.
Great addition to the series. Love this MC to pieces and can't wait to read more! The epilogue was phenomenal!
*Complimentary copy provided for an honest review.
A quirky couple, who don't quite know what they have together, or don't want to admit what they do have. Lia is a strong woman, with a business to run, Leo is trying to salvage what is left of his, add in that Lia is also the daughter of the President of an MC, Leo, a prospect in that same MC living together as roommates. Leo is having family issues, or they've reared their ugly head in his everyday life, where it's threatening his whole existence, and in effect, Lia's as well. Best line of the book "going and running ain't the same. Choose the kind of man you're gonna be." That is when I started to respect Leo. Lots of humor interjected at the right moments make this book read smoothly and very enjoyable.
Great read from start to finish! I was pulled in to Leo and Lia's story, the back and forth between them and the journey to discover those deeper feelings. The story has a bit of suspense, a ton of sweet and perfect heat. This series is building a great connection between the characters and creating a family that I'm loving! A great step in this series and I'm looking forward to more to come!
I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I just loved Leo and Lia. The chemistry was off the chart and I loved how they tried to pretend they were no more than roommates with benefits.
I think this book kept me on the edge of my seat. It hat the hot steaminess that you wanted along with the passion, love, and brotherhood. These two had so much in common and knew on a deep level the pain that they both went through.
Swoon worthy romance! Friends to lovers with forbidden love among a MC family, how was I not going to love this? Bliss’ writing is addictive. You have to find out what happens next and how these two love birds beat the odds. The romance is top shelf! I loved them from the first moment. They had a perfect balance of chemistry and intimacy that create a beautiful love story. I flew through this and would recommend it to other romance lovers.
