Sly Trap for a Fox by Carrie Magillen is a very strange story about a woman involved in a car crash who then is in a coma for four years. When she recovers from her coma, she is unable to return to her occupation as a surgeon because of her agoraphobia.
She is offered treatment by a physiotherapist but she doesn’t improve. When her therapist has to undergo surgery, he has a replacement to treat Diane whilst he is out of action.
Then the story gets interesting and we find out what really happened to Diane when she was at the accident scene and what had happened to other women in the past.
Totally different. Recommended.

2 Stars: Great Writing; Great Editing; Poor Character Development; References Necrophila
Okay, I read this book because I really, really, liked the author's other works, even though they referenced Interpersonal Violence ( aka Domestic Violence).
I felt that this book was hurried - only a scant 266 pages - compared to her other novels with 100+ more pages.
Look: I love Peter Straub, and am a huge Stephen King fan; however, the mention of necrophilia left me cold.
In fact: my reading this book can be summed up with one word: "Eww".
Double Eww.
It just feels, to me, that the mention of rape and/or with necrophilia was simply a plan to get new readers via being salacious.
If the thought of necrophilia is nauseating, skip this book, and read her other books.
Also, I knew who the "bad guy" was from the first time he was mentioned. However, I read the entire book to see the final outcome.
Well written; not her best work.
Although, must give her props for illuminating the fact that there are several US states that allow for, do not prosecute, for those folk participating in Necrophilia.
So, I couldn't rate this any lower as the author educated me on something that I didn't know wasn't taboo in the US.

Fantastic
I read a lot of thrillers. I have a kindle unlimited account and one of my main hobbies is reading. A huge proportion of the novels on kindle are of the same reasonable standard. They are just an enjoyable read. Nothing special, but worth a read. This author is on a different level to these others. All three of her books are far superior to other thrillers on the market.

Loved it
Five stars from me for well written story. Kept reading until the end as such a great story. Although I was sure who the perpetrator was it still kept me wanting to know if and why it was this character. Just enough suspense without going over the top and all characters blended so well.

An interesting read. Although I worked out who did it, I didn't see the why coming, looking forward to more from Saeed Sharif

Before the accident Diane was a neurosurgeon, after the accident she was the crazy lady in apartment 7B. For almost four years Diane has been crippled by agoraphobia. She been working with a psychotherapist to help treat her fears, but she’s making very little progress. Bruce assigns an assistant to aid in her treatments. Saeed achieves a breakthrough for Diane. Her incentive is to beat these fears so she can perform Bruce’s brain surgery.
This is my first read by Carrie Macmillan. Carrie recommended reading this short story to help determine if her writing style and voice aligns with my interest. I enjoyed the results of these treatments, yet the process to get these answers was tedious and slow.
This was a free download for joining a psychological thriller group. While I appreciate the free read I’m disappointed it wasn’t written in a way that held my interest. I sorta skim read this short story. While I appreciated the twisted outcome I was disappointed with her writing voice.

I received a free copy of this short novel Sly Trap For A Fox by @carriemagillenauthor

Her therapy is also not helping and she is not improving, until she gets a new therapist who is willing to try a different method.
This story really appealed to me because of the psychology and therapy involved. I'm really interested in this and I've followed a course on psychology and development among youth. That made this book an extra interesting and fun read, although there were some rather heavy and disturbing scenes.
If you can handle some gruesome descriptions, this is a great thriller for you.
