Good lordy that was a headrush!

Book two carries on from where Steal the Wind left off, with Cael aboard the enemy ship.

After an action packed and tense escape, he and his friends find out there's more things than just the state of Erya to worry over.

Making plans to return to the beleaguered capital city of Stormbreak, Cael, Drayce, Rayne and Eno must draw on every skill they possess.

The pace throughout is relentless, no time for a calming breath as hell breaks loose on all sides.

There's still only a tiny amount of romance in this one, as before, the main focus is still with Rayne and Eno.
Although Cael and Drayce do get to have a conversation about the kisses which bracketed the end and beginning of the two books.

I'm seriously loving this series, it's complex with a real mix of genre feels. Sometimes it's pure fantasy, with swords and magic, at others it's almost an urban alternative universe.

I have no clue what the deities of this world are ultimately going to do or how their relationships with Cael and his friends will develop.

There's secrets and lies, betrayals and true support and chaos unleashed everywhere!

It's what I live for and I cannot wait to get book three in my grubby mits 😁

I have got so much speculation running through my brain about where the plot is going next as they head off to the home of a dead god.

*this one is filled with spoilers sorry*

I'm really really looking forward to meeting the Dead God. I hope he's hot🤐. What I'm not excited about though is Drayce's secret😭.

I think the book could've been more developed because, I really loved the idea of the Godstones and the fact that Caelan will probably end up bonding with all the stones at some point but the writing doesn't quite match with the plot, I felt🥴.

I do also hope Cael has another love interest soon because to be honest he and Drayce are way too slow burn even for me.

a good second book but I am seeing a lot of similarities to Harry Potter haha and other books. Yes it is different since all these character are lgbt in some way, but also it’s with Godstones and not Horcruxes.

Drayce… you are someone who needs to have duck tape permanently put on your mouth sometimes haha he has to read the room better. He would not make a good secret spy that’s for sure..oh wait.. haha

Eno and Rayne.. umm I feel your connection for sure but your little issue at the end of this book… ya.. no not a fan haha

And Caelan, you are fine, but idk, nothing too special about you.

Overall it was a middle of the road read, honestly not a lot made this super memorable for me. I am waiting until the rest of the books are on audio since Kale Williams narrates and he’s doing a great job.

So Caelan is now bonded to the volatile god of storms and has his first kiss with his best friend Drayce before they have to get back to their home and fight the enemy there in order to be able to follow his legacy and bond with the goddess of life.

Usually I have an issue with the inclusion of gods but that's not the case here (yet). Here it seems only to be a title for nearly immortal beings with some specific powers. That they're imprisoned in crystalline stones makes the acceptance even more easier. My main issue is still the demanding urban fantasy/ high fantasy mix and the somehow wooden romance between Rayne and Eno. They exchange great romantic declarations and make supposedly adult relationship decisions but I can't help to feel like the author is only telling me that this is a romance but a lot of times she's showing an affair where both parts believe they want more and are desperately convinced they found the right guy. Fortunately that's not the case for Cael and Drayce although both didn't got to more than kisses. Hope that won't change with the next book when Drayce's secret is revealed because he's the one who makes this found family and brotherhood of friend work.

So it's still an ok-read which this time was a bit predictable and for this kind on fantasy mix too naive.

I was so lucky and got an ARC for this one too and I think I loved it even more than the first one.
In this book Caelan and his friends go back to Erya, where not everything is as they thought and wow is there a lot of action, politics, betrayal and drama. And I loved every second of it

I don't want to go deeper into the story as it would spoiler the book.
I loved the interactions between the friends. Caelan gets more into his role as king and it is fun to watch him grow as a person.
Deayce really surprised me positively. He was a real prankster at the beginning but now he grew into his role. I have some suspicion about him, but I think they are all wrong.
Eno and Rayne won my heart in the first book and didn't disappoint me in this one
We will see what the next step of the journey brings .

Can't wait to get my hands on the next book. This series is definitely already one of my favourites.

This was such a great sequel!! I loved the first book but this second one is even better!

We see more of Caelan and Gods, which is great. We also see more Drayce, Rayne and Eno! There are new characters introduced too and Shey made an appearance! I love how the storyline slowly unfolds but action and tension remain high. It was such a thrilling ride! I honestly don't know how to write a review without spoiling this book, but let's just say that there are some things I was not expecting that happened and kept me hooked. I could not put this book down!

I just have one complaint - December is too far away! I want the next book now! Thank God I don't have to wait years though, because that would just be torture!

This book takes place right after the events in the first.

Caelen, Rayne, Drayce & Eno are still a tight group working to find a way to get to the Godstone of life which is in Erya. Of course they still have to find a way to get by the Empire and his army. It's a never ending battle for them. Lots of action.

I still like the group dynamic. Eno and Rayne's relationship is still the only one really explored. Although, not much time is spent on it. They care for each other but it's hard to focus on relationships when you're trying to protect Caelen.

Overall, an ok read. I look forward to seeing where this series goes.

Wow…. This new series is something else and I’m loving it so much and it’s only the second book. I’m loving Prince/King Caelan, Drayce,Rayne and Eno. The book is very suspenseful and intriguing wanting you to turn the next page to see the outcome. One good deed and trouble keeps coming at every turn and those men, Royal Guards and Army work together trying to say the Kingdom, Eyra and all of Thia. So dang good but, waiting a month and a half for book three is going to be your torture…. I’m betting it’s going to be worth the wait though!

What fun!

This book is not a standalone, and while it does not end in a true cliffhanger like Book 1 did, it is definitely part of a series with a story arc that is unlikely to be concluded until the end of the final book, so if you can't stand waiting for the next edition, maybe hold off until it's complete.
But if you are like me, and would rather get what you can now, then I highly doubt this series. I had a bit of an adventure period in the first book, trying to get a grasp of who and where everyone was, but I didn't have that issue in this installment.
There's also more romance in this book than the first, which I enjoyed, but more of the adventure still happens outside the bedroom than inside it, so if your criteria for a good book includes lots of sex, you will probably be disappointed. I thought the author did a great job of balancing the sex and romance with action and adventure.
Sign me up for the next part of the adventure!

Also in this book the main relationship focus was on Eno and Rayne, sure Drayce and Caelan had some nice little moments, with some kisses and cuddling, but they still didn't put a name on their relationship status. Caelan is growing into his powers and bonding with 2 Gods is also taking a toll on his personality, it seems that the young man is starting to lose himself sometimes while using the Gods powers. Drayce is kinda of a mistery, and from the first book I thought he was hiding something, I don't know if he is one of the Gods, or their son, or something similar, but I hope he will not hurt Caelan's feelings. We know that the 2 youngest of the group love each other, but Drayce's secret could break their bond, also if I don't know how he could become the crown prince best friend and no ones knew where he really came from, before the 2 guys met in high-school..Pretty strange, and I also have the feeling that the Queen knew something. The story is interesting and the plot never bored me, but I really wish there was more focus on Drayce and Cael sometimes.

Ughhh… again - not sure why I waited so long to dive into these books but nonetheless I am very happy that I did. Just like book 1, this was great!

This book plunged right into where book 1 left off with literally only a day passing between them and I’m so glad about that. I was worried we would get propelled forward but nope! Immediately we were dropped into the cliffhanger of the first book!

I really enjoy these characters, and again the narration really sends this series over the edge for me (especially Eno because OMG the voice is positively intoxicating lol). The action in this book was slightly more angsty as it brought in new characters and the author does a great job of making it feel like you can trust few people other than the 4 main characters.

Speaking of the 4 main characters - ugh the air just crackles with the rising romance/sexual tension between the two pairs. I was and still am on the edge of my seat BEGGING for a steamy Cale/Drayce scene but I also love the pace we are getting from both couples.

I love the story forming, and I’m excited to see how each book gives us more and more info on the godstones and the overall plot. I love a series where I can’t really see the end or even the next book and this series is great about that!

Edit: I just needed to add that again, RAYNE IS INSUFFERABLE. Lol I like him but I also cannot stand him. Ugh. Especially when it comes to the stupid triangle between him and Eno/Shay

With plenty of action, scheming, and a dash of romance, the next phase of Caelan's adventure kept me riveted from start to finish! Now that I know and love these characters, the stakes feel even higher than they did before--especially with each and every reveal about the true nature of their quest. It was thrilling to see Drayce, Rayne, Eno, and Caelan strategize and execute a plan to take back their home from the Empire, even though it seemed like nothing went right along the way. Unexpected allies, battles, treacherous figures, and heartbreaking betrayals were just a few of the things in store for these men, and I was utterly captivated by the quick-thinking and adaptability that ensured their escape whenever things took a turn for the worse. Jocelynn Drake has done a fantastic job with the world-building in this series and knows exactly how to leave a trail of breadcrumbs for me to gobble up as I try to wrap my head around the bigger picture. The scope of Caelan's journey is so far beyond seeking justice for Erya now, and I can tell that I've barely scratched the surface of what's really at play. If I had to complain about anything (though this book was amazing and doesn't deserve it!), it would be that the romances took a back seat to the rest of the storyline. It's not really reasonable for me to expect these men to make time for sweet gestures and heated nights when they're literally on the run, but after such a tantalizing first book I was greedy for more of their explosive chemistry. Even though this story didn't have much in the way of physical connection, I was pleased by the way the emotional side of Rayne/Eno and Caelan/Drayce's relationships progressed. I could feel a strong bond forming between the couples, and though they may not have been able to express it with touches I could still feel it in the shared glances and conversations they had. Between the heart-pumping action sequences, lore development, and camaraderie between the four main characters, this book kept the momentum going strong, and I'm so excited to see what's in store when these guys travel to Zastrad!

Let the adventures continue! I am hear for it all with the latest in the Godstone Saga, Breath of Life.
Our intrepid quartet of heroes can't catch a break. Trouble greets them at every turn and they must trust in each other for their very life.
Their is treachery everywhere they turn and danger with every step they take.
The world building Jocelynn Drake has undertaken is top notch. I was able to completely immerse myself in this saga.
As they fight to free their home from invaders they are also tasked with a greater goal. They will need each other more than ever to complete their mission.
I devoured this story and am left eager for the next installment!

This is 2nd installment in Godstone saga series. This series is about journey of a young king and his team who are sent on a quest by the Storm God in pursuit of truth.
.
I am still undecided if continuing with this series was a good idea.
After book 1, you are already comfortable with the character's psyche and set the bar for expectations accordingly.
There were still moments when I was frustrated with Drayce and his nonexistent mouth filter.
We get to see more Cealan and his struggles with his reality and his mother's death.
Overall, it was an average book. Nothing much.
.
And yes I have decided to continue with the 3rd book coz I see potential in the overall plot. Let's see if we get to experience it.

Wow, just wow, this book left me breathless, gasping, exhilarated, enchanted, amazed and that’s just skimming what I felt and still feel after finishing. “I’ll wait countless lifetimes for you...” I didn’t think it was possible but I am even more in love and so heavily invested in this phenomenal journey with Cael, Drayce, Eno and Rayne. Oh, the trials that Cael faces and I fear he must still face have my heart in a unyielding grip. The emotional scenes between the men left my heart crying for more. The suspense, the found family, the deep love—of all kinds—that these incredible men have, and the indubitable magic that is this series, I freaking love it all so much. It’s fantastic, enthralling, I guess you could say this book breathed life into me, and I need more.

What an amazing ride book 2 was. It started about 20 hours after book one finished with Caelan in the hands of their enemies. Once Cael was rescued they fought to get back to their hometown of Stormbreak. This book is full of action, some sweet romance and political turmoil as they do not know who to trust. I am so looking forward to reading about their trip to Zastrad to see about the next godstone.

Caelan was shouldering immense responsibility yet he’s determined to fight for his people.

Caelan and Drayce dip their feet into uncharted waters but will their friendship hold strong? Drayce became Caelan’s anchor; bringing him back when he was lost in rage, by reminding him who he was.

Fantastic instalment, looking forward to the next one.

Breath of Life continues from where Steal the Wind left off - the moment when Cael has boarded the enemy ship.

Prince Caelan and his friends finally escape after much planning and some tense action. Travelling to Erya, they were met with more trouble and machinations than they were ready for. However, all is not lost as they too gain allies from unexpected sources. However, it wasn't enough as treachery from within those in position of power in Erya threaten Caelan, his friends, and his mission and it will take all of their wits, their strength and trust for each other to overcome the problems facing them. Add in the fact that the gods want Caelan to do the impossible - go to Zastrad and to speak to a Dead God.

Stuff I Enjoyed:

1. The world-building and the lore continues to be amazing. As our protagonists travel to other places, we get to learn and experience more on what this world is about. The little tidbits about the gods that are connected to each city, what they represent, their powers, etc is wonderfully crafted. I love the distinct personalities that each deity has as well. Frankly, I can't wait to see more of this world that the writer has created.

2. The political machinations, the twists and turns and those unexpected reveals - So many secrets being unveiled as well as hidden motivations by some of the other supporting characters being given the spotlight. The political intrigue is more pronounced this time around and we get to see Caelan do some of his court duties as a prince. There were some revelations that took me by surprise, but they delighted me as well since they open some avenues for more character development and really intriguing direction to how this story might go.

3. Action scenes - These were beautifully executed. You can feel the tension and build up for each scene and when they reach the climax, it was satisfying to read.

4. Character development especially for Rayne and Caelan - Both Cael and Rayne shine in this book. Both have been given more depth and their growth into accepting their roles as well as being more comfortable in the powers they wield were given more spotlight in this book - Cael with his powers from the gods and Rayne with his political and diplomatic astuteness.

5. The friendship between all four characters continue to be awesome. All the adversities that the group faced only strengthened their bond of friendship. Their interactions, their banters continue to delight and entertain.

Not My Cup Of Tea:

1. The romance. Sadly, the romantic relationships in the book didn't really jibe for me at all. Sure I do get understand and see what the writer is trying to do with both couples but the romance just doesn't work for me especially the one between Cael and Drayce. I find myself liking their bond as friends more than the build up towards a romantic relationship. Frankly, edit out the romance and the book would still work. But that's just my opinion though.

2. Eno and Drayce. They may have had some improvements in the character development, but both still are a bit bland and flat in comparison to Cael and Rayne. They feel too much of the cookie-cutter stereotypes of the huge, buff, bodyguard type of guy and the cheerful, happy go-lucky, best friend. There might be some points in the story where the reader gets a different facet of their personality but it's too brief that it gets overshadowed by the overarching plot or the Cael and Rayne POVs.

Overall, I still enjoyed the book and I am looking forward to the next one. Giving this a solid 4.25 stars out of 5 stars.

I received an ARC of this book via GRR and I have chosen to publish my fair and honest review.

Ok book 2 kicked up the action a few notches! Our lovely heroes are on the run and trying to find allies in a different country. They don't know who to trust or why their home was attacked. They find out new and shocking information from the Queen of the country they escaped to.

I must say I thoroughly enjoyed this book. We get to learn more about the Godstones and how they came to be. We are introduced to the Emperor and learn what his actual plans are and we get to watch our boys grow even closer to each.

Cael, is learning how to use his new powers, coming to terms with his feelings for Drayce and how to be a King. It's all alot for a 23 yr old, but he handles it pretty well. I was shocked with how very human he was. He is flawed and lets his emotions get the best of him sometimes, but that is was makes him such a believable and lovable character.

Drayce got the shock at the end of book 1, but not a bad one. We get to see him grow more as a bodyguard the more fights they are involved in. But, Drayce also keeps his positive and carefree attitude, which Cael appreciates. We do get a glimpse of him losing faith, and it was hard as Drayce is such a sweet guy.

Rayne is freaking brilliant. The way his mind works and how he is able to see several steps ahead is such a thrill. But my favorite scenes with him are when he is vulnerable. The times when he lets his walls down and shows us that he isn't this robot advisor is great. We do get one scene where he looses his temper and explodes and it is epic!

Eno is a sweet beast. He tries so hard to keep everyone safe and cared for. Seeing him act possessive was so fun. He knows he's not as smart as Cael & Rayne when it comes to political strategy, but he is ok with that. He plays to his strengths. I was disappointed in him when he tried to make a big decision for Rayne without consulting him, but I understood where he was coming from

All in all this vol was really great. We get learn more about our enemies and the Gods/Goddesses. I can't wait for the next vol.

BREATH OF LIFE
Book 2 of the Godstone Saga
JOCELYNN DRAKE author of extraordinary tales.

What an amazing story, I am entranced by the brilliant imagination of Jocelynn Drake, her ability to write another fabulous mm series leaves me in awe.

The Godstone saga's stories are full of outstanding fantasy, action, adventure, mystery, magic, secrets and not forgetting love and romance.  As the four friends continue on their quest to save their world, we gain more information on the Godstone's. How they came to be and the quest that motivates Caelan, Drayce, Rayne &  Eno undertake in order to save not only Erya but the rest of their world.

The characters are well-drawn and interesting, they can be funny yet incredibly violent, their motives complex and much more varied than we have seen so far. I suspect as the series continues further layers of their character will be revealed. I do so enjoyed learning about characters over the course of the series as opposed to everything being revealed in the first novel. They each embrace our hearts as strong characters, yet display uncertainty with their true feelings towards their own hearts desires. The word building and imaginary descriptive paints the picture of a novel that is captivating and unpredictable, with fast paced action and future intrigue.  The attention to detail is superb, the series so far, has been writing by a wonderful writer that brilliantly conducts the narrative making us dive head first into the story.

The mystery of this series is really wonderful, its a brilliant fantasy that  continually reveals secret revelations, that keep the reader alert and always engaged with a promises of more.

Jocelynn Drake has truly outdone herself with this series, having crafted a thoroughly enchanting tale that confirms her ability to deliver amazing results every time.
I for one cannot wait for the next instalement.

I received a free ARC from GRR and this is my honest opinion.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I LOVE THESE 4 MEN!! I devoured every single word and I don't think I can stand the wait until book 3 is released... I need it now! Going into this series, having four different viewpoints was something I thought would be a bit much, after all surely Caelan is the main character to be following? But I was so, so wrong. This series is about so much more than one main character; it's about friendship, duty, love, betrayal, loyalty and a hundred more things too. Book 2 picks up where book 1 left off and jumps right into the action, with Drayce, Eno and Rayne rushing to rescue Caelan from the hands of the Empire. But the action doesn't stop there and this book is jam-packed full of twists and turns. The relationships between Cael and Drayce and Rayne and Eno are also developing throughout. This book, like book 1, is extremely well written. I feel like I know these four men, like they are my friends and I'm rooting for them from start to finish. The character development is second to none - I can feel that there are more twists, turns and secrets for me to discover and I can't wait! I'm all in!

Overall, I would 100% recommend this book to others but you need to read book 1 first as it's not a standalone. If you like adventure, suspense, mystery and romance all thrown together into an exciting mix of brilliance, then this is your series!

A Joyfully Jay review.

4.5 stars

Breath of Life is the second in the Godstone Saga, following Steal the Wind. This is a series that needs to be read in order. Breath of Life was a strong sequel and I found myself enjoying it slightly more than Steal the Wind. The story was tighter and more focused, and the action was purpose driven. While the series still lacks a certain fantastical flair, I found I was able to immerse myself more completely in the overall world this time around.

Drayce remains, in my opinion, rather the odd man out from an otherwise strong cast of characters. He just seems more immature and a tad silly when in comparison to both the crisis and companions around him. He doesn’t seem like a strong fit for Caelan, but I keep hoping this situation will improve and somehow he’ll end up being the kind of man Caelan needs. Eno and Rayne are the more compelling couple and the evolution of their romance is one of the strongest parts of the series. Equally interesting is the relationship between Caelan and Rayne, as both are burdened by increasingly complex responsibilities.

This book was just as fast paced as the first. Except, this time, instead of heading away from home, it's time for them to return. Tula, the goddess of life, awaits back at the ruined remains of Caelan's home. Time has come for him to bond with the goddess of the lifestone. After what happened when Caelan bonded with God of Storms, I didn't have high hopes that this would be the end of their mission to save Erya. I am later proven correct, when Tula has another journey necessary for our favorite quartet. They are far from out of the woods yet.

As for the romances, we have some movement on the Cael and Drayce front. Of course, not as much as as I would have liked. We're talking real slow burn here guys. As for Eno and Rayne, their foundation isn't as solid as it could be either. Then again how could it be when they constantly find themselves fighting for their lives, not to mention how they both have a sworn duty to put their King and Country before all. This is definitely a plot based series, but I really do enjoy the budding romances and look forward to the next adventure in book 3.

Breath of Life is the second book in this serie, you need to read the first book because this is a ongoing series, after Caelan is rescued is time for them to return home to Erya so he can bond with the godstone, but the situation in there is worse than they thought, there’s betrayal wait for them. Caelan need to find who to trust and he’s going to fight for his birthright and get revenge. This book was amazing and entertaining, we watch Caelan, Drayce, Rayne and Eno struggling to stay together and help the people of Erya, more action scenes and a little romance between Caelan and Drayce this two are adorable, can’t wait to find out more about this romance between them, Rayne and Eno are super hot together, but both are struggling a little because of their obligations. I enjoy so much this book and the mysteries around the Godstones and their purpose, what sacrifices is Caelan going to do to save Thia? Can’t wait to read the next book!
I received an arc of this book and this is my honest review.

Yes we are back with our four boys right where we left off! We really get immersed into this world in this book! Learning so much more about each of our guys and the strengths and weaknesses they each bring! There is a lot more action mixed with some fun and romance although this is still a slow burn as there is so much more in store for all of them both together and in their own separate growth and duties! God I love ENO by the way- so sweet and possessive!!! Despite all the politics, secrets and betrayals.. this book is above all about loyalty! I received an ARC of this book and cannot wait for the next one! I highly recommend this series to anyone who loves an Epic Journey with fantastic fantasy world building! Magic, Emperors, Gods, and a lot of Action!

Lovin this series! One book one god, I can do that :) I thought the fact that there were 2 relationships being developed at the same time in secret was going to be tiring... But no... These 4 put good sexual tension in everything!

Also, angst, drama, full power and also romantic and adorable. I'm so here for this!

I'm Loving This Series!

This is absolutely not a standalone so, picking up where book one left off, we see Caelan, Rayne, Drayce and Eno discover new foes as they continue in their fight against the Empire and attempt to get Caelan back to the godstone in his home city.I

The character and relationship development is great; the action is well-paced; and the atmosphere with the constant tension and threat whilst the men are trying to act without drawing attention to themselves is palpable.

In short, I love the direction in which the plot is heading, I love the constant questioning of whom can be trusted, I love the friendship and found family bonds. I can't wait for book three...is it December yet?! 5*
