Joshua A. Gideon is the epitome of what a grown man is, the oldest of eight brothers, and former US Marine Special Forces. Joshua knows what he wants and has the skills and audacity to go after it, and what he wants is Savannah. It’s not a matter of if, but a matter of when she’d be his. Never one to back down or give up Joshua goes after Savannah full throttle, but will his tenacity pay off or will the pull of the single life be more appealing than what Joshua is offering?

Not quite

It has taken me days to finish this book. I just couldn't get into the story. This is my first time reading this author, and done so because of the great reviews. The story has potential, but sadly, it fell flat. There are a ton of grammatical errors, misplaced words, sentences, and details that, in of itself made it hard to read. The premise of the story, the whole alpha male....insta love thing, is great, but the dialog between the characters is what kills this story. It's disjointed and off putting. I will try the next story and hope the aforementioned things are corrected

So slick and smooth

JAG was that thang!! He was slick and smooth and he had mad game that he was bringing to Savvy. Nice love story of a woman finding a man that valued her with a little twist of action.

Good Read!

This book was recommended by Unique Words LLC. This was my first book by this author and I enjoyed it. I can't wait to read the brothers stories. They had a few grammar errors but still a good story. I know they are a older couple but I hope they get a surprise kid and see how they handle that.

He wanted his hatima yungu

Joshua "Jag" Gideon knew he wanted her the minute he bumped into her at the airport. His heart recognized her as his destiny. When they finally officially met, he knew for sure he wanted her to be Mrs. Savannah Gideon. Savannah, on the other hand, was jaded from a long-time relationship with her children's father but he never put a ring on it. So when Joshua Gideon and his giant brothers came into her life, she treaded very cautiously. Just when their relationship was getting closer, Savvy thought that Jag had ghosted her when he and his brothers were called on a special mission. Jag proved to her that he was willing to tear the world up to protect her and he and his brothers almost had to when his past life as a former Marine Seal came back to seek revenge.

I loved this story and I loved Joshua. This man had me swooning over him. The wedding vows he said to Savannah had me tearing up. That was so beautiful. He was so patient with Savannah and was willing to wait for their marriage to consummate their relationship. Their intimate moments before their wedding were so touching and sweet. Savvy's friend Peter was a funny mess. The things he said had me LOL. I can't wait to read about the other brothers now.

The only problem I had with this book was that it is in serious need of a re-edit. It was bad enough to impact the flow that the reader had to really think about what the author meant to impart. I can overlook a few missed edits but this was nerve-racking and really messed up a great story. It was probably the reason why it did not make Facebook group's BWSL's top books of 2021 pick list as the author's second book in the series Atlas.

NOTE: My favorite quote in the book. But I tell you this I will search the world until I find Savannah and if she is hurt or worse, I promise I will burn this mother fucker to ashes and kick the bitch off its axis. No one takes what's mine with impunity.

3.5🌟

I enjoyed this book, the maturity of Jag and Savvy was so refreshing. He didn’t play games and knew what he wanted right away. The counting of her and his reasoning behind it was truly beautiful. He loved her from first sight and vowed to protect and show her something she’s never had before.

The addition of conflict towards the end was unnecessary in my opinion. The introduction of a new character so late in the game made it feel rushed, even tho the author fully flushed out that storyline it just wasn’t necessary and took away from the overall tone of the book.

I read a few reviews prior to reading the book, and tons of folks complained about the grammatical errors, I saw a few but not very many which brings me to believe the author listened to those reviews and made some updates.

With that I am excited to read the other brothers, but Peter has to be my biggest anticipated story.

I wanted more from this, based on the length I knew it would be a slow and steady climb to love but there was some things that I just felt could’ve been left out. I hated the kidnapping trope 92% in like the book is over all this stuff is gonna have to be rushed and for what some decades old vendetta that was never mentioned Boooo 🗣🗣. I will say I can appreciate the author being realistic about the sex and taking time off lmao cus Mr.Man had a five dollar foot long and was doing everything he could to Savy so the fact we ain’t have to read about them wilding back to back with no recovery time was a nice little touch. Overall it’s not a bad read it’s just a lil dry

I really enjoyed this book. Cant wait to read the rest of this series. And it was really wonderful to find and read books from a local author. I live in Rochester and when she described the grocery store all I could think about is “hey that sounds like Wegmans, the best grocery store in the country”. So it was surprising to see the author is from Rochester.

I don't know what HAWT magic this author put in this MAN's Character ...I just want to ask do they sell them on Amazon?

Joshua and Savvy meet by accident in the airport after accidentally bumping into this massive wall of a man. Joshua knew there was something about this woman with glasses on that he wanted to know more about. Fast Forward Joshua and his big thick fyne brothers own a construction and real estate company together. They're all former military special forces each one serving in each military branch. Savannah is moving to Mississippi after being offer a professor job at one of the local colleges so she needs to find a place to stay. After a suggestion to contact the Gideon real estate company she comes for her appointment only to see the man who set her body ablaze by looking down at her at the airport. Joshua knows this is fate and he's not one to let fate slip through his fingers especially since it's right in his office. Joshua isn't going to waste this opportunity and he's going to show Savannah why this is going to be a forever thing between them. While in the Military Joshua made a lot of enemies that will do anything to get revenge especially harming those he holds dear.

JAG is fyne and his brothers are fyne and his pappi is fyne...I always say between Black and Polynesian men they are the top of top fyne men. Chile the way this man gave intimacy without sex, but really courted this woman. But don't get it twisted because when he did lay it down it came with fury of the GAWDS on her in that bedroom!!! I am so invested in this book series!

*THERE WERE Grammatical ERRORS, BUT THE AUTHOR IS WORKING TO FIX THEM, BUT WE ALL KNOW HOW AMAZON MAKES IT HARD FOR AUTHORS TO REUPLOAD THEIR BOOKS

It was ok but...

This really could have been a lot better. And the main issue that I have with this book is the spelling and grammar. I mean you can put this in a cell phone or use the simple spell check and fix these mistakes. A lot of repeat sentences run-on sentences, misspelled words, misused words, and plenty of punctuation errors. I like the general premise of the story, however, there were certain parts that I felt could be elaborated on. It was like driving on a long road and then going over a short bridge and then getting back on that long road. The characters voices kind of overlapped. There wasn't a definitive tone to each character so that even if I'm reading a Joshua chapter, I could tell just by the tone of the sentence who's speaking. This book has potential but I'm really surprised at the rating. There are plenty of free resources for spelling and grammar. It cost nothing to have a friend right over it. And as an avid reader this is the biggest complaint that I have. Almost makes me want to become an editor. I look forward to reading another book by this author.

Three Stars

I give three stars when the story holds my attention and this did. I am going to be blunt and say while I finished reading this, this book needed work. At first, it was promising but it immediately switched up. It was like two different authors. The man, a WM, started speaking with African-American vernacular and kept it up for the rest of the book. And he sounded like a ratchet woman fighting another woman in the streets.

This book needed work. At first, you could hear his voice as a character. But by the time this book totally switched up, all I could hear was a young AA woman.

The author is promising. I hope they continue to perfect their craft in the future.

A refreshing grown and sexy romance. I had so much fun reading this book. Savvy’s internal dialogue was hilarious. The only negative was the poor punctuation, which made some sentences disjointed and confusing when you couldn’t tell who was speaking.

It wasn’t a bad story! Even though I felt like Joshua had a teeny bit control issues at time I knew it was more about protection. I’m sorry but I feel like it’s weird that Jabarri likes Skai. They’re family now! I know not by blood, but that’s still like your uncle now. I wish there was more dialogue between Savannah and Skai or even her best friend we barely heard about. A phone call or something. My only real issue with this book has been the grammar mistakes and sometimes the sentences didn’t make sense. If I give the next book in the series a try it’ll be later this year or next year.

The following are all the thoughts I had while reading this book so it may contains some spoilers:

Inconsistencies annoy me! Even small ones. Ch. 1 It starts out in Savvy’s perspective with “Chapter 1 Savvy” written in the middle-top right of the page. Get to Joshua’s perspective and Joshua is written at the middle-top right and in the middle of the page. Back to Savvy’s perspective and now it’s written the same as Joshua’s. 🙄😖

“Keep your feet on the ground and not up by your ears tonight.” 🤣🤣 The petty in me would have said “well you shouldn’t have chosen this dress then!”

Ch. 3 starts in Savvy’s perspective then the next section is also in her perspective. Why is it broken up like that? Especially since it’s a continuation of the story. It’s not a flashback or flashforward.

How old is Joshua? Savvy is in her forties but they have yet to mention Joshua’s age.

Peter is hell! I love him! 🤣🤣

Am I going to find out about Joshua’s heritage?

I definitely wouldn’t drive my car from New York to Mississippi. Sundown town definitely still exists. Maybe if she was from Mississippi. But Joshua definitely wouldn’t tell me no either!

Not “I am Joshua’s…” When did that happen??! Nahh he gotta ask and I gotta say yes! Ain’t gone be no confusion!

So many missed quotation marks. And missing articles! example:p139-“I put on a nightgown and go to Jag’s room and get the bed.” Should be “get in the bed.”

I don’t think i’ll be continuing this series. I don’t think I can handle the mistakes. I am enjoying the story though.

P.145 It says “When I wake up, I’m in bed laying across Jag’s chest with just his T-shirt and panties on. When we get home, I use the bathroom, wash my face, and brush my teeth.” How do you wake up in bed laying across his chest and then the next sentence is “when we get home I use the bathroom, blah blah blah.” That doesn’t make sense especially since he was driving. So you definitely weren’t laying across his chest as he was driving you across the damn country. You see what I’m saying I can’t deal with mistakes like this. How do you miss this and it’s at the top of this section of this chapter? I enjoy the story but I’m sorry. I can only pray that you’ve improved over the next 10 books that you wrote in this series. 🙄🙄🙄

Even if a man has been laying it on thick like Jag is and then he disappears does NOT mean you immediately jump to the next man! Especially a man you’re definitely not interested in! And you are definitely old enough to know that.

May I Have A Tall One Please?

I loved this story from beginning to end! Love, desire, hot sex and having a man capable and able is not just reserved only for the under 40 crowd! I LOVE that Savvy and Jag literally bumped into each other and it was on from there! Being a more mature woman with adult children and grandkids does not mean that you have lost your sexiness and desirability! Love that about this series!! Loved it!!!

Now hunny, couple that with a 6'7" hunk with 7 brothers as fine as him that love you as their sister ... Whew! Where can a tribe like this be found for real?

I loved how Jag could read her facial expressions and body language and addressed and slayed her mental dragons. Loved that, although he was totally turned on by Savvy, he wasn't dominated by his sex drive. He recognized early on who Savvy was to him, and was strategy in getting her to the altar. It was also nice how Savvy gained a friend and 2nd father (crazy uncle) in Peter.

Somehow I thought that her kids father would show up again after getting punched and choked out for harassing Savvy. He was supposed to be this bad ass who never backed down! Instead the threat came from Jag's past and was far more dangerous. That was a good move to feature that.

This story had everything and I loved that Jag wasn't talking about having a baby from scratch but embraced the children that Savvy already had as their own together. Hoping that ALL of the brothers have their own stories coming in the near future! Don't lose this momentum for the series by putting other projects ahead of it and coming back a year later! Also, what's Peter' HEA???

This started off well then it got real cheese, lovey-dovey the longer I read. To be honest, we never really end up knowing anything about Jag. His past is never really spoken of, he's simply there to serve, love, and care for Savannah while she figures out her life and how to love so we end up knowing everything about her. I felt the author had issues separating herself from Jag because he read as an AA woman in a white man's body.

The cheese is more of a me issue, I had assumed this was a dark romance when it's just a romance with a bit of slow-burning spice. I simply kept reading because the spice was written well and I felt I deserved the erotic reward after putting myself through so much heartfelt love. Not a psychopath in sight.

I didn't hate this, it's just very disjointed and even though it's fiction shit got so beyond belief and rushed. I'm intrigued enough to try book 2 however.

*I got to chapter 7 of book 2 and deleted the entire book off my kindle when the AA woman trapped inside a wm body resurfaced. It’s too frustrating to go through 7 books like this. Dnf.

enjoyed it

I really enjoyed Jag and Savannah. This was such a good book. This book was so good for so many different reasons. Let’s start with the fact that this is a mature romance and all of the characters are older that I really enjoyed. This couple went out on dates and got to really know each other before introducing sex. I love the fact that Savannah was a plus size woman that did not settle or take anything less just because her kids was out of the house. I love how Jag courted her and want to make her happy while stilling having that edge in the bedroom when the spicy was introduce to the book. I really enjoy the fact his brothers accepted Savannah in the family from the very beginning. This is my first book by this author however, I will be adding more of her books to my reading list. This is one of my favorited books this year so far.

Instantly us!

Instant attraction at its finest! Savvy had no idea her life was about to change for the better when she literally bumped into Jag. From that first encounter, the chemistry was undeniable. Fate clearly had plans, because circumstances brought them together again and this time, Jag wasn't letting the opportunity slip away. He applied pressure in the best way. I loved how Jag protected Savvy from her foolish children’s father lol, and didn’t allow her to get stuck in her own head or talk herself out of deserving something good. This story had everything: swoon-worthy moments, drama, a special forces rescue mission, and ohhh, the spice was HOT! Jag’s actions spoke volumes, and Savvy had no choice but to silence her doubts and accept this man and all of his love.

JUST…..(SIGH)

This is one of those books that just had me talking to it, laughing and really bonding with the characters. Sure, there are some mistakes but you read past them because the story captures you. Savannah is so relatable and likable. A true survivor and warrior. Joshua is that Alpha that other alphas respect. He loves Savvy and he’s not afraid to show it and prove it. The transparency they both exhibit is touching. His brothers are supportive and protective (they all need their own stories). Peter is comic relief and wise….he also needs his own story. However, if phrasing mishaps, typos and misplaced words causes you to lose focus of the story, then this isn’t for you. If you love storytelling and likable characters then this is a definite must read.

Jag puts the "A" in Alpha!

Oh my Gawd! This book took my breath away! Joshua "Jag" Gideon is the ultimate Alpha. There's so much to unpack about this book. Joshua and Savvy bumped into each other literally twice and that's all it took. I loved how Jag pursued Savannah. When I tell you this book had me literally on the edge of recliner chair because of all the laughter, drama, action, romance, steamy sex scenes, beat downs and the best happy ever after, I'm not kidding. This is a new author for me. But J. Nell got my attention and gained a new fan. These Gideon brothers I can see are gonna be one of my favorite series. This first book is a MUST READ and MOST DEFINITELY 5⭐'s.

Good book

This was a good book. Joshua reads like a dream, I wish in and Savannah were described in a little more detail. Kind of a slow burn, sex didn't happen until late in the book. It was hot sex, though! This book could've easily been five stars but the editing. I have never read a book with worse editing than this one. Sometimes you didn't know a person was talking, at first I thought that they were thinking. Then you didn't know who was talking. There were unnecessary words in a sentence, or not the right word, or no punctuation. I would never write this in a review if it happened a few times, but this was was much apart of this story as the plot was. It really was a good story tho, so if you can so with so if that, get it.

My Goodness !!!

Dayyyummm, that was good, even the typos couldn’t diminished the story. The Gideon men are “Oh la la”, and Joshua Gideon aka Jag to Savvy (Savannah) … my goodness that man 😋 🤤… no words.
I love the scenes from Maldives to Somalia, J.Nell didn’t dwell too long on it, she showed that Joshua didn’t marry a punk and don’t ever mistaken Savvy kindness for weakness, that girl is one bada** .
The whole Gideon family and Savvy’s family are wonderful.
William and Robin, now they deserved each other!
and why did Savvy dislike her stepmother??
Love little Bubba.
I wish Jag had some babies, she is not too old… come on!!? 😉

Wow my gosh I didn't realise this book was going to be the bomb

From the start to the end this book gripped me, it made me laugh out loud, it made me horny as hell and it made me feel so connected to the main character Savannah, I felt her uncertainty about her relationship with Joshua.
As for Jag aka Joshua he is amazing, wish I could meet a man like him in real life!!
His brothers are amazing too and I cannot wait for another book about the Gideon brothers from this author!
This is the first book I have read by this author and I must confess that it is absolutely fantastic so the next instalment has to live up to this books reputation.

Holy Moly!

This is the second book by this author I have read. At her suggestion I read this one first. Wow, what a great story!! I loved how the mains met, just a chance meeting. God had other plans for them. SavannahSavvy, is who I want to be when I grow up, hahaha. Beautiful, thicc, smart and strong. Joshua is what I want when I grow up. Tall, handsome, smart, a gentleman and TOTALLY in love with Savannah. He calls her “hatima yangu”. Gonna have to read the book, anyway. The heat these two bring, is HOT as the gates of Hades. You have been warned, hahaha. Can’t wait to get on to the next book, but I need a cooldown first.

Almost flawless

This book was well put together. From start to finish I was eating up the pages. I love the progression of the relationship. It wasn't drawn out or so quick that its unbelievable. The love and care that Jag put into woohing Savvy was perfect. The build up to the spicy parts was Chefs Kiss. The only flaw I found had nothing to do with the story but the cover. The guy on the cover looks nothing like the MMC description let alone make me believe he's on age with FMC. Where is the top knot? The dude on the cover looks like he has waves like a brother. At any rate this is a good start to being the first read from this author. Now to the next book!

JAG iIs A Real Man!!

Joshua and Savanna, were two people who bumped into each other by accident in an airport, who never thought to see each other again. Never say never, because they do meet each other again purely by accident. Joshua is determined to make Savanna his wife no matter what it takes. It all starts with trust. By letting go of her past. Joshua show Savy just what type of man he is, and he’s someone who will look after all of her needs, even if he has to burn down the World to do it.

That will be a hard no for me 👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾

I was REALLY looking forward to this series, but after reading 67% of book one I’m gonna pass. The proofreads are HORRIBLE. The section has one person’s name, but then the other is mixed in and you have to read it 3 times to make sure you understand what the author attempted to say. Along with that, there were an excessive amount of run on sentences, use of the wrong punctuation, and double words were enough for me to stop. I couldn’t take anymore. I’ll pass on the other books.

The author needs to employ an editor and a geography teacher

I like the storyline and the hero. These days I am looking for later in life themed novels so was delighted when I came across this series, but the typos and grammatical errors make it extremely painful to read. Secondly if you are going to include 'Africa' in your storyline, do a little research and mention the country your scenes are based in, Africa is not a country and Somalia is in East Africa not West Africa!
