Monsterly

Rate this book
1987-ish.
One night. One song. A whole lot of monsters.
As the long shadow of Autumn reaches for the tall door of Halloween, as each doorbell buzzes with anticipation at the touch of somewhat familiar spirits and fabulous creatures, the remembrance of tricks or treats, something uncanny, horrific, possibly heinous, is about to unfold in the small quiet town of Strangville. The fate of the town totally rests in the hands of an unlikely group of heroes; a cursed boy (and his band Candlehood), an old rockabilly singer, an action movie actor, and a former scream queen turned DJ.
Things are going to get hairy.

This book is crawling with vivid imagery and fun characters! I enjoyed the word choice and characters the most in this book. The thrilling > horror vibes were great, and I really felt enthralled into the 80s! Every character felt well developed, even in the short span of time. The only critiques I have are that it’s simply not my usual genre, and that I wish the plot had more to it like more mystery or a bigger setting. Still an enjoyable read, you’re amazing daddy!
