When Taylor arrived at her childhood home after skipping her mother's funeral, she thought she would hate being back in the woods, in that cabin that she'd practically ran from fifteen years ago. But it didn't take long for Taylor to see how different things were this time. The cabin looked nothing like it did back then and being away from the city and going for hikes was having a surprisingly relaxing effect on her. The woman who lived next door was also turning out to be very good company, despite the fact that she had been good friends with her mother. And Taylor had figured her life out now. She wasn't a struggling teenager anymore. She was thirty-three years old, and she ran a successful marketing agency in New York City. Taylor was proud of how far she'd come. Maybe, she was finally ready to face her past.
Lynn had no idea her neighbor and friend, Kathy, had a daughter. Not until Taylor showed up at the cabin. Not once had Kathy mentioned her. Lynn had been missing her friend, and even though Taylor wasn't staying long, Lynn found herself enjoying the younger woman's company, curious to find out how Lynn had no idea Taylor even existed. The evenings weren't as long when she shared a bottle of wine or had dinner with Taylor, but as Lynn got to know her, she was shocked to find out that the version of Kathy that Taylor had known was nothing like the woman Lynn had called her friend for more than ten years.
As they spend more time together, Taylor wonders if she should keep the cabin and not sell it like she'd planned. She could see herself getting away from the city and coming here the odd weekend.
And when they act on the growing attraction between them, Taylor has another decision to make.
Should they even bother pursuing whatever was going on between them?
Or was this a fling? Something that seemed like the most natural thing after spending so much time together, sitting out by the bonfire behind Lynn's house or being snowed in together when a storm hits.
A standard and basic lesfic story, novella, Kindle Unlimited.
There is an age gap, one woman is 47, the other 33. The story is different in that the younger woman is coming to terms with the death of the mother she hasn't seen in over 15 years. Back when Taylor left she was a raging alcoholic, and a homophobe. But alluring neighbour, Lynn, paints a vastly different portrait of Taylor's Mom. One who was sober, kind, generous and accepting, and infact helped many people and was well loved in the community! But it really doesn't go much deeper, which is disappointing.
Also, for a book dealing with a deceased former-alcoholic mother - these people sure do drink a lot of alcohol, every single night... Bottles of wine, gin and tonics, Irish Coffees with Whiskey. I felt this was just too on the nose.
A sweet, feel good romance with an age-gap, low level of angst and it’s set in a small town. I really enjoyed watching Taylor and Lynn as they navigate their feelings. The ending felt a little bit rushed but beyond that, well done.
This was such an incredible love story. Taylor’s back story being so heartbreaking. Finding out that only two years after she left home at 18, her mother did sober up but still did not contact her. Lynn, meeting Taylor, never knowing her friend had a daughter and was a completely different person than she knew. Both navigating each other. But as they get to know each other, something happens, and now feelings are involved. What a sweet tale told by the incredible Emma Collins.
This is a nice little story - more like novel. Really only involves the 2 MCs. Low level angst. Almost love at first sight. Age-gap which is a pretty significant part. All-in-all a light, quick, feel-good read. Sometimes that’s all I want.
This started out as a promising age-gap romance, but for such a short book, it was painfully repetitive. The same conversations over and over. The plot is sparse. Taylor inherits her mother's cabin, but a painful childhood makes her question (repeatedly) whether she wants to keep it or sell it--but next door lives Lynn, an older woman who had been a friend of her mother's. Lynn and Taylor form a friendship, which flips pretty immediately into an attraction towards the other. Why? Your guess is as good as mine. Their chemistry is meh at best, but I just wish they had an actual conversation that didn't consist of Taylor hemming and hawing about keeping or selling the cabin, the weather, lack of Internet, or whether Taylor was going to stay or move back to the city. Every single interaction devolves to one or more of those topics. At under 200 pages, this should have been a tight story with nothing to spare, unfortunately, that's not the case here.
Sometimes life throws you a curveball when you least expect it.You're not actively looking for love but it appears in the most unexpected way. Emma Collins does a good job of writing a sweet story of love. Well done.
What seemed like an impossible predicament turns out a sweet age-gap romance at it's finest. The MC's are lovely, the dog cute and the love scenes hot. What more could you want?
I enjoyed getting to know Taylor and Lynn. The way they came to know each other definitely was because the cosmos had it’s hand in them meeting. Age gap romance always has the older person worried about the age difference. I think we somehow forget that there are people that are truly attracted to older people and see the aging process with very different eyes. They see the changes as beauty whereas the aging person may tend to think of them as flaws compared to their younger selves. Most of the convincing typically comes from the younger person. I see this more with women than I do with men. Men just seem to go for it and believe they’re worth it and worthy. Women have to get there too.
I am glad that Lynn gave this a chance. Because what is the alternative? Turn Taylor done because she is younger and continue to be alone? Wait for someone close to her age and it doesn’t work out like it didn’t with Morgan who was actually a few years older than her? At least Taylor truly loved her and are willing to make the most sacrifices for their love.
Taylor's mom passed away and has left her cabin in upstate NY to her. Her life is in Manhattan with a company to run. Will she sell the cabin or keep it for vacations? There is enough of a backstory about her relationship with her mother to make the reader understand why she ran away from home fifteen years ago. However, when she meets Lynn, the next door neighbor who was her mother's friend, Taylor begins to question everything - everything, including her attraction to Lynn.
It's a sweet, feel-good romance that is low angst and very tender. I loved the descriptions of nature and the fun-loving dog. And I really loved both main characters. I did feel, however, that the ending was a little rushed. All in all, a very enjoyable story!

4 stars. This was lovely. Slow burn, age gap, and so much yearning between the main characters.
Taylor returns to her childhood home after her mother’s death to see if she wants to sell it. She and her mother didn’t have a good relationship and she hadn’t seen her in years. Lynn was good friends and neighbors with Taylor’s mom and the two strike up a friendship. I loved the chemistry and connection between them and the way the romance developed was great. Both women were likable and relatable and I like that even though they have some anxieties about starting a relationship there is no third act break up. Overall, this was a very nice and low angst read.
This is a basic low-angst, age-gap romance. The main characters have a common connection in Taylor's late mother Kathy. Given the extremely divergent views of Kathy held by her estranged daughter and her next door neighbor it is clear something dramatic had changed in her life. However, that is left completely unexplained leaving the reader more than a little puzzled.
The romance develops relatively quickly without too many impediments. There are no secondary characters of consequence. The tale ends with the expected HEA.
the characters Lynn and Taylor were well defined and the storyline was well written. There was a certain amount of drama in this story concerning Taylors deceased mother and Lynns ex girlfriend that led to some interesting twists in the story. Overall this was a heartwarming age gap story that was well written and the sex scenes were not by overly done, but were sweet and filled with true feelings. I recommend this book to future readers.
Taylor had just meet with her mother’s lawyer and was trying to get into her old home when Lynn came over to help her. As they got to know each other, Taylor started to want more and Lynn seemed to reciprocate. Will the two be able to overcome their doubts and find a way to each other’s hearts? Sweet romance.
Was a good little read from this author. I enjoyed the story line but was a lil disappointed in how they fell in love so soon & their seemed so rushed in the book. Wish more time was spent on building on their relationship as it would’ve been a great read. My first 3 stars review 😢
I loved the instant attraction between the main characters. The age gap between Taylor and Lynn was difficult for Lynn but the more Taylor assured her it wasn’t a concern for her, Lynn overcame her reluctance. This is a beautiful love story and I highly recommend reading it.
You don't know what you actually want urban or rural ,older or younger partner, sometimes it's just the right personand the right place even though you don't know immediately but you realise what's more important, love
Emma wrote a very nice story. It was a fun, easy read. She kept my attention with the flaws of each woman and how they overcame them to be together - wools gave the ending away, my bad
I Really enjoyed the story and writing. Very talented in keeping the flow going smoothly.I loved the main character she was done so well .I can,t wait to start another one of emma,s books. Good writing.
A lovely, drama free read about two normal, drama free people falling in love. There’s nothing at all to dislike about this book. The characters are well developed, the story is sweet and there’s a Labrador! What more could you possibly want?
Really good book by Emma Collin’s. I’m 16 years older than my wife so age-gap books interest me. It’s a real fear because as you get older it gets harder. The 2 main characters are very likable. Both surprised at being drawn to each other. I’m a sucker for a HEA.
I really liked this book. It had me smiling. I took my time reading it so I could see everything through the descriptions. Sammy had me busting up. I love a story with the fur kiddos. Thank you K.Balandran
