You know what’s the worst part… loving someone I can never have.
Elden should be mine, but he’s promised to another. That’s the problem with falling for a leader of the fae council. Our lives are not our own. Everything, even everyone, is chosen for us.
Ending things with him was the right thing to do. But try telling that to my broken heart.
I want to stay away. I have to. Only now he’s on my doorstep with an arrow in his back. I’m the only one who can help him now that his world has been thrown into chaos with the ancestors’ power. But am I strong enough to do the right thing twice? Can I keep my heart whole in the process? Or will fate shatter it again?
Meredith Clarke likes long walks in the trees and drinking sangria. Yeah for real. Like Edward Sparkly Cullen style. She writes alpha male yet cuddly characters and the hot women that love them. Open a book or two, eat a smore, and cuddle up with the men of Meredith Clarke.
....and then some! Doomed to love a man she's not supposed to, this story revolves around a witch fighting on more than one front. Fighting her own heart and soul... then also trying to save a world or two. No biggie right 😉. I loved every snarky, wise cracking word from our main character 💖. She has such a huge heart, is loyal to a fault, but also has insecurities like so many of us. This was a wonderful introduction to this spinoff from the original Crescent City Magic world, and you don't need to have read the other books previously. It's filled with plenty of strong women, family by choice, humor, loyalty and so much more. The world building is so rich and multi layered...I can't wait to see where this story takes us as I have a sneaking suspicion there's a wee bit more to our awesome main character than even she knows or suspects. Be warned: there's a massive cliffy at the ending of this book which leaves us wanting book two even MORE 😍.
Our heroine walked away once because it was the right thing to do. But she is not sure she can do so a second time, so things are going to get messy.
This is book one of the series, so a good place to start. It is also a spin off from another series, but it is not necessary to have read that one before starting here.
This is an urban fantasy story with witches and fae. The story is well written and easy to read yet packed with a lot of depth. The setting is deep and well developed, which makes sense as a spin-off series. I loved the glimpse of the world that we get in this book and I look forward to seeing more. The characters are also well done with solid personalities and quirks, both good and bad. I particularly like our heroine who is tough and rather snarky. The plot is full of action and intrigue with plenty of twists and turns to keep things interesting. The one downside is that it does end of a cliffhanger, but I am okay with that. After all, the next book is already available. Overall, an excellent story and a good introduction to a new world. I look forward to the next book.
Highly recommended

This is a NON_SPOILER REVIEW of Bound to the Magic by Meredith Clarke, the first book in the Crescent City Magic series. I enjoyed the strong characters in this spin off series read. We get a little more of the Crescent City Witch (Rosalie and her mates) in this story, but shift the focus to Celeste. The Fae realm is in danger, the danged Fuil Stone is at the center of the problem. Eldon, a truly sexy Forest Fae comes back into Celeste's life and so does all the drama. A great read that opens another storyline just as intense as the Crescent City Witch. Great world building enhances this tale and the cast of kick butt fae and witches make this a truly fun read. Mature Readers Only please. While there is some resolution, this story does set-up for book two.

Have to admit that my attention waned a bit especially at the beginning, it seemed to take a while for me to get up to speed. I don’t mind flashbacks but they can sometimes take you out of the story. Celeste got a bit repetitive with Elden at times and it made me just want to move things along.
I did enjoy her snark, although at times her choices were questionable. There is quite a bit of action at times, almost too much in some cases as it seemed to take the story into too many places.
The story does end on a cliffhanger which I’m never really a fan of. It wasn’t too bad of a story and I was drawn in for the most part.

Bound to the Magic is the first book in the Crescent City Magic series, the author says it can be read as a standalone but personally I think it's better enjoyed if you've read the previous Crescent City series. That said the story has lots of action as both the human and far realms are in trouble, Caedmon makes a great baddie who Celest, a witch as well as the other witches and Eldon, a fae, he's the leader of the fae forest, are trying to bring down whilst also fighting to stay together. Will they succeed?
Arc review I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Wow this story has lots of action as the human and far realms are in trouble against caedmon a high fea that is a trader to his own kind and trying for the fail stone . the witches and fea are trying to stop caedom as Celeste a witch and Eldon leader of the fea forest are also fighting to stay together. Awesome
One of the most humane heroines I have come across. She's so much like any of us that reading her story is like looking in a mirror for me at least. Sometimes feisty, sometimes insecure, caring, loving, worried and scared, she's just like you and me the only difference is that the future of a world or two depends on her.
This is one of the best books I've come across recently.

Cliffhanger of the worst kind. The book just randomly came to a stop. This was quite an action filled, very busy book. With characters one could relate to and some totally alien to my brain. This was more of a young adult type book, but any age should enjoy. There was no reason for the book to just end, right in the middle of a situation.
Boy oh boy, is Celeste in trouble. Reunited with Eldon again, even though he is promised to another. Witches. Magic. A monster they can't bring down. Battles. A destroyed land. A monster High Fae also wants to take over earth. Now he has Celeste. Will she ever escape his clutches? What an amazing story but has a blasted cliffhanger.
With a start like this I have no doubt that the rest of the series will be amazing too. There was so much happening and the main characters struggle was so involving.
I read this one in one sitting as I just could not find a good place to put it down.
Loving someone who you cannot have and the heart break, I could feel through this book. The storyline held me captive. First book in this series and it had so much to offer I thought.
A great fast paced story, a great kick a*s heroine with a sarcastic humour, a forbidden love, a powerful enemy, an ancient powerful jewell, and a multi realm adventure. Very well written with great well described characters. Action packed tale. It follows on from the previous series but can easily be read as a standalone. It does end with a coordinated but this does not detract from the story and I look forward to the next one. I received a complimentary copy from the Author but then bought the book anyway.
Cecilia has been in love with Elden for what seems forever - but he is betrothed to someone else. Then she finds him injured, at her door. His realm is in danger from Caedmon - and so is hers. Will she be able to save them? Elden must fulfil his obligations - or will his love for her win out? Loved it, and cant wait for the next book!

This was an exciting opening book for a spin off series of the Crescent City Witch books. You don't have to read them to dive deep into this one, but they're exciting, too, so well worth the reading time :) This one showcases a very strong fmc and she sure has some snark to her. I enjoyed that there was humour to balance out the trials she has to face. But, I have to say that I'm now dying for the next installment to see how things progress ;D
This book simply failed to catch my attention. I rarely like flashbacks and, for as much as the author claims that this book can be read without reading her previous Crescent City series, it reads like a continuation.
This was a great start to a series thanks to well written characters and a story line that kept my attention. I can't wait to see where this series takes us.
