The Bride For A Single Father

Rate this book
Becoming a mail order bride takes you out west, but does not take away your problems…

Violet Reeds is a firecracker. She’s had to be. Ever since her father sent her to work for a house of ill repute as a singer when she was young, Violet has been living amongst the most sinful lowlifes in New York.

She has managed to remain chaste, however, because of her fiery temper and scrappy attitude. When Stanley Brown, a wealthy and powerful man, takes a liking to her, she rejects his advances. In turn, he gets her fired. Desperate, she decides to start again and become a mail order bride to Lewis O’Malley.

Since becoming a single father, Lewis doesn’t think he can ever find love, though deep down he longs for someone to prove him wrong. And perhaps also to have someone to care for his ten-year-old Petey.

When Violet and Lewis are thrown together in the small town of Stillwater, Colorado, sparks fly. Violet tries to win over Petey, but the boy resists her attempts. Just when things are starting to look up, Stanley shows up in Stillwater.

Stanley wants to reclaim Violet and he’s prepared to prove it, even if it means hurting anyone close to Violet.

Lewis is standing in Stanley’s way. Lewis can keep his son out of harm’s way. But how will he protect Violet?

Always a fun read.

Her books are typical mail order brides stories in the sense they always have a good ending but the stories are just what I need sometimes. Good clean reading and just enough twists and turns to keep me interested. I love your books Florence Linnington.

I loved this story.

It was a well thought out plot that wasn't rushed. I enjoyed the characters and the drama. It mixed with enough real human flaws and emotional needs that I was able to immerse myself in the story. I found that I really enjoyed the simplicity of the life of the doctor and how the relationship between the newlywed couple ebbed and flowed into something special.

Violet was a singer, and only a singer, at a Saloon in New York. When she refused to take a rich and powerful man to her bed, he did everything he could to ruin her life, expecting that she would be forced to change her mind when she had nowhere else to turn. Instead, Violet became a mail order bride, travelling to Stillwater, Colorado to marry the doctor there.

This appeared to be the fresh start and a chance for a new life, love, and family that she'd always hoped for. But would it be? Especially when it turned out that she was not the intended recipient of Lewis's letter?

This book was a very fast read and I finished it in one day. It was also one of the best of Ms. Linnington's stories that I have read thus far. While it contains all the expected elements of a mail order bride story, this one seems to contain a bit more than many others, and it managed to get me rather teary eyed towards the end.

If you enjoy a good mail order bride story, any of Ms. Linnington's other books, or if you are just looking for an entertaining story that will tug at your heart, then I would strongly recommend giving this one a try.

This was the best story She has written yet! I am amazed at how Florence twists her plot! You had me in the first chapter! I will be reading it again again! When Violet was trying to get Brown to stop his badgering and haunting her. Well that was a frightening seen. It just got more suspenseful and haunting. This is a must read book! Please🙏 keep writing these books.

Life isn’t what it always seems. Could be challenging, always questioning. Wonder about what I’m saying, read this wonderful story of a woman and her challenges.
