As always, Parker Cole writes a lovely romance of an unlikely couple. So many things to like about this book. It is a perfect read for a fall afternoon. The characters are well developed for a short read, with dialogue that flows. Just enough complexity in the storyline to keep it interesting , with a twist. While reading others in the series fills in some details, this can be read alone.
As a disclaimer I received this as an advanced copy for my review, but also bought a copy for a friend.
Reading this book was my first experience with this series and this author. I greatly appreciated the sweet story line and the absolutely stellar characters as well as the briskly unfolding action. After losing her husband after twenty years of marriage, Agatha Waters does not feel the need to remarry. She was committed to her marriage and feels that she is capable of running her farm alone. However, the local preacher makes Agatha's wish impossible. He has DECREED that all widows should marry or forfeit their holdings. Long time friend, Lance Montcalm, comes to visit Agatha at just the right moment. He has loved Agatha as long as he can remember. He suggests that they marry in order to save the farm. Will Lance be able to convince the love of his life that it is alright to give her heart again? This story is amazingly sweet with a complex dynamic and an effective villain. While clean and wholesome, the book generates a bit of heat.

Can a widow’s marriage of convenience save her farm and bring her happiness?
This is my 4th book by Parker J. Cole and it is an exceptional read. Again Ms. Cole exhibits her delightful writing talent along with her ability to provide a fantastic western romantic story. This characters are very well developed and the plot is a heartwarming love match that the reader can’t help but treasure. You don’t want to miss this story, so be sure to add it to your TBR list. Agatha, a recent widow who had a wonderful marriage, stands to lose her family farm and is pursued romantically by the local preacher is in a quandary. On a visit, Lance, a younger man who’s best friend is Agatha’s stepson and has secretly loved Agatha since he was 19, suggests a marriage of convenience to protect her and keep the farm. Can Lance convince Agatha that his love is real and that they can find true happiness and an HEA? You will need to read the book to g]find the answer. I highly recommend this novel. Having received a free copy of this book via Booksprout, I voluntarily leave this review.
Agatha Waters lost her husband during a blizzard with a group of other women in Last Chance, Nebraska. Pastor Collins held a town meeting informing the women, they must remarry quickly sending for mail order groom. Agatha was not wanting to remarry as she did not feel like she needed a man to take care of her. The Pastor still insisted she needed to marry and soon. It was not long until a young man that that was best friend's with her step-son, Noah showed up on her doorstep. Lance had not been back for a visit in sometime as he was actually in love with Agatha. He was not aware that Mr. Waters had passed. He convinced Agatha to marry him as he was only eight years younger than her. She was having trouble with her foreman and a loan Mr. Waters had taken out on the farm. Lance was a sweet, understanding man willing to wait on Agatha to finish mourning Mr. Waters and come to him. A faith based story that was a joy to read.

Agatha Waters is a widow. Although she is not looking for another marriage, the pastor of Last Chance insists that the women send for husbands. Agatha is spared from this when a family friend arrives for a visit.
Lance Montcalm has had feelings for Agatha for a long time. Now she needs help saving the farm. So Lance offers to marry her long enough to get the financial assistance she will need. He is hoping that their time together will let her find out the type of man he is and that they can fall in love and make the marriage real. Will Agatha give him that chance? Will the plan work to save the ranch? And most important, will they both realize they have fallen in love?
This was a really good story line. I am always grateful that I wasn’t born in the time periods that made women nothing but chess pieces moved around the board by the men. I am glad Lance stepped in because he really loved her and could make her happy. Grab your copy and read their story.
This is a very tasteful and beautiful story with wonderful character development. This is Agatha Waters and Lance Montcalm's story. Agatha lost her husband of 20 years when a blizzard wiped out most of the men of Last Chance while they were hunting. She had been very happy in her marriage and was not anxious to remarry but the town's pastor who insisted all the widows remarry was not happy with her. Then trouble set in and she was in danger of loosing her land. Lance, who was Agatha's stepson's best friend, had loved her for years even though he was several years younger than her. When the trouble comes calling he sees a way to possibly help Agatha. The couple agree to a marriage of convenience. Will this marriage of convenience grow into much more? Will Agatha and Lance fall in love and find a HEA? Be sure to read this outstanding story that has several twists and turns. I know you will enjoy it as much as I did.
Widow Agatha has no desire to find romance again, until Lance walks back into her life. Their relationship should be forbidden—he's her stepson's best friend, after all—but in truth, there's only eight years' difference in their ages. Yet another man is determined to have her, and he has the power to take away her farm if she doesn't comply.
I liked how strong Agatha was, and related to how torn she was about the prospect of remarrying. Lance adored her and respected her wishes all along the way. This book had just the right amount of tension. The plot was intriguing and the pacing sharp—without getting into romantic suspense territory, which I appreciated.
Thanks, Booksprout, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.
I must admit, Lance is the perfect groom for Agatha. Despite being younger, Lance is smart and capable of providing and protecting Agatha, who is learning to open up her heart again after her first marriage. The chemistry between the two main characters was explosive as they tried to transition to their new relationship as husband and wife while dealing with the danger that plagues Agatha. I think that A Groom of Agatha is a must-read, especially if you like an older female character with a younger man.
Agatha has no idea how to move on, to get past her grief and certainly not how to love again but she has underestimated Lance. Lance knows that if he tells Agatha how he feels she will run a mile, but if he shows her through his actions, his support, his willingness to wait until she comes to him, he will earn her heart...can he be that patient? Good things come to those who wait, and this is a perfect example of this, the gift they get at the end of the book is beautiful. There are a few typos, hence only four stars not five, but this is a really lovely historical romance which I read on Kindle Unlimited.
After 11 years Lance finally decided to check in with Agatha and Paul to see how they are doing. When he gets there he finds Agatha is a widow and she needs to marry to save the farm. Lance siezes the opportunity to propose he marry even though he is 8 years younger than her and her step sons best friend. Agatha has to decide if she is ok with marrying Lance or leaving Last Chance. I do enjoy this series and love the fact that all the stories can stand alone. The characters are interesting and the situations engaging with some surprising plot twists thrown into the mix. The romance with a little humor and mystery thrown in really makes the story hard to put down.
Lance has known Agatha since he was a young boy. His best friends stepmother. It hit him when he was 19 years old. He loved her! What can he do but leave. She is happily married to Paul. Now though perhaps his chance has come. Paul perished in the Blizzards. Lance returns to Last Chance just as things are coming to a head for Agatha, and the solution is clear to him. But can he convince his dear Aggie that they should marry? It can save her farm and he can protect her. This story was so sweet and loving. You won't want to miss it. The characters are different but blend well together and so well written you feel you are right there living the story with them.
Good short story about “forced”marriage because all the men folks were dead. The little preacher didn’t think it good for the community for all these women to be without menfolk….to avoid falling into temptation. Agatha either bec of stubbornness or lack of desire wasn’t readily heeding to the preacher’s demands. Despite not sending off letters soliciting a husband to protect her and manage her farm, God sends a mate anyway. A bit strange match, but when you give love a chance….who knows? Need a quick read with interesting characters, a good plot, and romance…try this novel, or the whole Blizzard Bride series♥️.
This was so well written and perfectly paced for a short read. Lance is so incredibly romantic and has loved his best friend's stepmother since he was 19 yrs old. Agatha has lost her husband of over 20 years and needs a man to protect her and fight to keep her farm. What will she do when she finds out just how much Lance loves her and how attracted she is to him? Great job Parker J Cole! I really loved this one and will read it again a few times...
Lance has wanted her for so long but Agatha was his best friend's stepmother. Would he be able to finally have his dream? She had lost Paul in the blizzard and the preacher was really upset she hadn't remarried yet. Maybe this would be an answer..a convenient marriage...not sure about her or his feelings . Then the ranch was in trouble. A fast exciting read with a few surprises.
This is a beautiful love story with strong characters and a wonderful storyline. Agatha is forced to marry again, even though she still loves her husband. Her step-sons best friend shows up and offers her a marriage of convenience, even though he's been in love with her for years. Parker Cole has woven a delightful love story, that has a few twists and turns that keeps it exciting. You should enjoy this book, if you like historical romance.
I'm torn with this story. I've always enjoyed Parker J Cole's stories, but, this one made me uncomfortable. It felt very sensual and just not as wholesome as one would expect. I'm not a prude, but, this was a bit much for me. The premise of the story is great. It fell in line with the other stories of "The Blizzard Brides" series. It was just a bit much for me.
This is probably one of my favorite books int he series. I really loved the storyline, as well as the characters. and there was a certain character that really worked my nerves. I loved the relationship between Lance and Agatha. A Very good job was done with this story

I have enjoyed the books from this multi-author series. Each book could stand alone. The books are clean, sweet, historic novels about men who died in a blizzard leaving wives on farms and ranches in a remote western town. Parker J. Cole has an unexpected twist in this unique story among the mail order husband books in the series.
I really loved this series! I was very confused from the beginning of the story. Really hard to stay focused on the story as the storyline didn’t really make sense to me. The ending was good. Not much description or details about the characters. I really enjoyed the other books by this author in the series.
This story touched my heart in so many ways. Even though Lance is years younger than Agatha, he's been in love with her for as long as he can remember. When Lance comes to visit and finds out that Agatha's husband Paul perished in the blizzard, he decides that he wants to help Agatha any way he can. This is a very touching and well written story.
I really enjoyed Lance and Agatha's story these two had a very interesting beginning with a few twist. It all made for a captivating read that I read straight through.
Arafat's nightmare loss of her husband is made worse by her awful farm manager and Last Chances obnoxious reverend. But when Lance shows up on her doorstep it's as if the tide has begun to turn.
A long time love , only time and the good Lord , can let that love come to you or you go to it . This has to be the Hottest clean book that I have read . Enjoyed it , couldn't put it down . Thanks for the Great read .
A very heartwarming story. It's amazing how Lance thought he kept his love for Aggie darling to himself when all along Paul and Noah both knew about it. Glad to see the eight years didn't matter to neither Aggie now Lance.
Parker J. Cole has again brought us a story with the perfect amount of romance, conflict, danger and happily ever after. This story has a few twists and turns to be resolved but you will love Lance and Agatha. A good addition to the Blizzard Brides series.
She was being bullied into getting married although she still loved her deceased husband. Interesting scenario when a man offers to marry in name only so she can keep her farm. Great characters and an interesting plot. A great read.
Widow Agatha Waters and Lance Montcalm marry to save her farm, but he is secretly in love with her. I enjoyed seeing them with all their ups and downs get their happy ending. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A beautiful story. Like the other brides Agatha had to marry or leave. Unbeknownst to her there is a threat to the ownership of her farm and an evil man has his eyes set on her. Lance, her step-sons best friend comes back into the picture.
Truly enjoyable reading! I thoroughly loved the way it flowed and kept me reading to find out what would happened next. The ending was great with the excitement of a baby on the way.
