As I was checking out new issues for the comics I follow I also found this and it looked super cute. Plus it had teacup and kitty in the title and I love tea, and cats. Of course there was also tentacle which did have me worried slightly. Fortunately this is super cute and aimed at a much younger audience than I am.

My rating shows my personal enjoyment and opinion, and I definitely think that this book is very well suited for young children, who'd definitely like it better than I did.

The art is cute and wacky. I mean, cats with tentacles that change size and appearance? We also have regular humans, weird other creatures, zombies, and new worlds. So far, sounds pretty great.

This book has these cats (regular and tentacle cats) plus a single human have teatime and tell stories to each other. They seem to take teatime very seriously, having a collection of different types of tea and a spelled teapot that only allows them to pour tea once everyone is gathered.
For people who take their tea so seriously they don't actually know how to brew tea. Okay, so I love tea. I know a slightly above average amount about tea. So when I read them talk about how green tea is always bitter, all I could think was "your water was too hot, you burned the leaves." Because green tea has to be brewed using a cooler temperature (around 80~90 degrees Celsius) whereas black tea has to be brewed with boiling water. Just a small mistake, but annoying if you portray the characters as being ultra serious about tea. How can they not know the basics?

This book has three different stories. The first read as a coming of age story, and shows the homeplanet of tentacle kitty/pink kitty. The story is cute, but has very little substance and is very predictable. (And that's kinda my problem with most of these).

Second story follows the human girl and tentacle kitty and a zombie apocalypse at an anime/comic convention. I really liked her reaction to appearing in her first cosplay, because it felt so relatable. I remember the first time I did cosplay, and I had just arrived at the con (my second ever, at 14) took off my coat and a girl next to me started squealing and asking for a photo and I was so confused. And then you get used to it xD
Here as well the story lacked any substance, there's not much to it, no explanations for anything given, it's just there. And this one too was extremely predictable.

Third story was a fantasy of "sea kitty" a regular cat who thinks they are a pirate. The best parts of the story where the masked kitty interrupting and explaining what really happened. The story borrows heavily from Moby Dick.

Then we get teased with the story of masked kitty who so far was the most interesting despite barely appearing but the book just ends. Masked kitty also gets ignored a lot...

The stories are unrelated and skipping from tentacle kitty planet to tentacle kitty living with a human girl on earth, to different cats being neighbours apparently at earth, but not having anything to do with tentacle kitty or the human, yet them all being together in some sort of space craft drinking tea makes me think that I missed a lot of backstory. This reads like a companion to an actual story, but checking the author page only gives me a tentacle kitty colouring book, so maybe not? It's weird to read as a standalone because it lacks cohesion, and plot, and you learn very little about the characters.

That said, it's cute and easy to follow and I think it's perfect for really young children who like fantasy and cats. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone expecting a plot/ development / characterisation anything other than lighthearted, meaningless, but cute, stories.

(Full disclosure: I received a free e-ARc for review through Edelweiss.)

I'd never heard of Tentacle Kitty prior to spotting this title on Edelweiss - but as soon as I finished the ARC, I found the strip on Tapas and subscribed. While some of the stories ("Tale of the Green Cotton Candy Mice," told from the titular Tentacle Kitty's perceptive) skewed a little young for me, I really enjoyed the artwork (a pink kitten with tentacles, what's not to love!?) and overall premise.

Tentacle Kitty and her found family live on a space-faring whale ship in an alternate universe in the distant future. Flush with a stash of super-rare Earth tea, the group holds a tea party, in which they regale each other with dramatic tales of bravery (some embellished, all involving cotton candy mice).

My favorite by far is "Mumble Mee (or the White Tuna)," a Moby Dick-esque tale of Pirate Kitty's pursuit of a giant tuna. Only the rival captain is Pirate Kitty's mom, and the Mumble Mee the tuna is already confined to a can.

Tentacle Kitty
A group of friends share a cup of tea, maybe some scones, and recount tales of questionable truth. But then, it’s more about the fun, isn’t it?

I was intrigued by the concept of a tentacle kitty. I love both octopi and cats, so this combination was something I’d want to read about.
The illustrations are very, very bright and colourful, and in general the stories tend to be over-the-top. The humor didn’t quite get me – or, well. We just didn’t get along. It felt too hyper for me. Instead of having a coherent story, it was more about adding one last bit – and another, and another, jumping from one thing to the next.
Not my cup of tea, but it might be yours.

The arc was provided by the publisher.

3 stories in one.
1st one: 2/5 - underwhelming but cute enough
2nd one: 0/5 - honestly just didn’t like or care about it
3rd one: 4/5 - super cute pirate kitty tale and I wish the book was more on this level because I laughed out loud and found it adorable. I’ll be keeping my copy of this book just for this last story and the art. The artwork throughout is great!

Honestly wasn’t planning on looking for more tentacle kitty tales, but I will be now just based off the 3rd story.

Super silly but it was a fun read. Meant for a cat lover with a sci-fi twist of smart cats critters with tentacles. I have had a black tentacle kitty on my bookshelf for several years which is why I wanted to read this ARC. Wasn’t aware of the comic though. It just reminded me of one of my cats. It would be kid safe if you had a kid that liked cats & sci-fi.

I found this at my book fair and it was so good and cute and it gave me giggles. This book is just a fun filled book with so many funny and exciting tales and it just really helps to pick you up when your feeling down. Oh and I also love the little rivalry between the pirate kitty and Ninga kitty and .the pirate company is so cute!😆

I thought this graphic novel was so cute! I loved the bright bold colors of the artwork as well! My favorite tale was about pirate cat and the tuna. I hope there is more Tentacle Kitty graphic novels in the future!!

I am not really sure what I just read. I think kids are going to love it. I might need another read through. It would be a cute tv show, but I am a little lost in the graphic novel. I feel like this is part of a series that I am starting late one, but it is not.

Interesting and strange. The final story was BY FAR the best. The first were so weird that I wasn't sure I should be reading it to my son. But the final story made up for it, and we both want more of their stories!

Some of the stories were weird and a little gross, but the final story was fantastic, hilarious, and we want more! So disappointing not to hear the super kitty's tale! We really want to know that one! :)

Maybe this is a short story off of another story, but I was left confused and not sure what was going on. I found the drawing style to be cute and the characters adorable. I just wasn't sure what was going on with the story.
