Great start to this new series from Davidson King.

It's set in the Haven Hart world but not directly related and so works as a standalone.

I found the pacing of both the romance and the main suspense plot worked well and built up tension in an organic way.

Both Atlas and Toby are compelling characters and I found them really sweet together. I loved how Atlas was able to move on from a painful part of his life because of the sweetness of Toby's heart.

There's an excellent set of secondary characters who are going to make up the rest of the entries in this series as I understand it.

I'm very interested to see if Toby's friend Shane is going to be up next with Ledger, aka DJ Edge.

This author has a way of making plot threads involving crime lords and wannabe bad guys, which sound totally over the top, work seamlessly.

The relationship is sweet and spicy and I felt the genuine connection between both men.

#ARC kindly received from the author in return for an honest and unbiased review.

Original 09/2020 review- Mehh, I’m disappointed, I mean it was OK but... disappointing, I had hoped there would be at least one interaction (even if it was brief) with some of the characters from the Haven Heart series but there wasn’t 😔 (all we got was a glimpse of Quirks & Perks & a mention of artwork by Poe).

Now, here are where my main grievances come in:

-Atlas: as a character he was good and I loved the narration/narrator.

-Toby: I didn’t like him as a character, and I absolutely hated the narration or the voice the narrator chose to use for him. The narration likely may have even contributed to my dislike of him (& this rating). It made him sound like he was (a majority of the time) on the verge of hysterics, coming unhinged, frantic, or like he was on something.

I haven't thought much of Atlas after he relented to siding with the Manos family and banning Mace and Bill from Joker's Sin after thw whole debacle. He sounded like a businessman who didn't care who he's dealing with and didn't have much spine.

This book helped redeem my earlier perception of him. It gave more depth to why he plays safe and try to stay neutral in the politics that surround Haven Hart. He's very protective of Toby who's been a victim of the circumstances that landed him into this mess. I love the people that Joker's Sin houses. The staff/friends who built the safe place the community go to sounded like really good people.

One thing I'm not sure of was the way they pulled a bigger fish into the fry. I think it'll bite them in the ass eventually.

Atlas and Toby find what makes their world complete!

The Haven Hart series with Snow and Christopher, Riordan and Teddy, Bill and Mace, Black and Quill, the outlandish Poe, plus Lee, Jones and Ginger, gave us suspense, violence, thrills and hot sex.
Now, in Haven Hart we begin a new high crime series, dangerous places, plus different characters. We see organized crime bosses and good guys rising above.
Atlas, 35, owns Joker’s Sin, a popular, successful club. Atlas has long braids, dark skin, and guyliner around his honey-colored eyes.
Toby works at a dive club, Vick’s Tricks, and hates it, so he gravitated to Joker’s Sin every Saturday night, his day off.
His twin sis, Poppy, that he cares for, is wheelchair bound after an accident at 18. She’s a seamstress, and he makes good money, but looks forward to a better place to work.
Toby has wavy brown hair, purple highlights, plus eyeshadow and liner.
Joker’s Sin is special and everyone knows it, which is due to Atlas and his terrific business sense and the staff.
Toby wins a date with Atlas, and they talk and get to know about each other. Sleazy Vick tries to use Toby to get info on Atlas, so he can destroy his competition. It’s life or death for Toby and Poppy, because Vick threatens him.
Our guys still see each other, and soon Toby gets his chance to work for Atlas, but Vick is lurking.
Atlas and Toby get hot sexy times.
Atlas turns the tables on Vick and his Chinese mob connections.
This is exciting, sexy, intense and different. I loved the sharp characters, the flow and banter.
Violence, biracial, suspense.
It’s memorable and I look forward to more in the series. No cliffhanger and an HFN.
ENJOY !

A Joyfully Jay review.

5 stars

Davidson King is beginning the new Joker’s Sin series with the release of My Whole World. Set in the town of Haven’s Hart, the crime-ridden setting for King’s successful Haven Hart series, this novel is a standalone and doesn’t hinge on the other novels set in this same locale. Once again, we are plunged into the corrupt goings on in Haven Hart, this time in the night life scene where two bars are going head to head to be top dog.

While Atlas feels no pressure about the rival bar, the same can’t be said for the owner, Vick. He wants Atlas and his bar gone, the sooner the better, and he’s not above any means at his disposal to get what he wants. Using poor Toby by threatening to harm his sister and physically abusing Toby seems to be Vick’s ticket to success. But Toby likes Atlas and, despite the threat to his own well being, Toby gives minimal information to Vick, causing his thugs to beat on him and threats to be leveled. When things come to a head, Toby is forced to tell Atlas what he is up to and possibly destroy the tenuous relationship they are building together. From this point on, the story speeds up, leading to a climax that is nail-bitingly good and worth every moment.

I liked some aspects of this story, like the characters, their backstory, and the plot, but I didn't feel the moment the whole thing became a relationship and how they both started to fall in love: there was written there, but it was passive, like something not that much important, as was the sexual scenes, which can be a choice made from the author.
I didn't feel the love, so the whole scene was pretty strange for me, but the whole story was per se interesting.
Let's see how the other stories do.

I received an ARC of this book and totally loved it!
Atlas is the owner of Joker's Sin the hottest club in Haven Hart. We first met Atlas in A Dangerous Dance. In that book, I kind of had the image of a sort of timid guy who didn't know what he was doing. Someone not cut out for the roughness that is Haven Hart. Boy, was I proven wrong in this book. While Atlas doesn't have the ruthless edge that our fav mobsters and assassins have, he has his own edge that I love. He is really a guy that we all can relate to. Someone that has a sad background that has shaped who they are. Someone with a tragic story that makes them want to block out the world, or only let a few people in. That is who Atlas is and why he is so lovable.
Toby our twinky dink boy is so precious. He is the balm that Atlas needs. Toby is the awkward kid we all know and love. He devotes most of his time and energy into providing for his sister, the only family he has. The only time he allows himself any fun is when he goes to Joker's Sin to ogle Atlas. What I love most about Toby is that he really is an earnest guy. All he wants to do is work and help out his sister. He doesn't have a cruel bone in his body and tries really hard to do the right thing.

Being that this a Davidson King book set in Haven Hart, there is DRAMA! We wouldn't expect anything less. While the drama does mainly revolve around someone trying to destroy the club, we also get the added bonus of personal drama. The mixture of the two is great, not one being dominate over the other. This book is a great start to a new series. However, no one from the previous series is mentioned. If you were thinking that some of the characters would be in this one, you will be disappointed. The coffee shop is the only thing from the previous series that has any connection.

Fantastic start to a new series.

I really wish I could give more then 5 stars for this well crafted book.
The character development, the complexities of the story line, the drama that kept me turning the pages to find out what happens next. Not to mention the cast of intriguing side characters and the romance between Atlas and Toby that was far from smooth sailing. There’s a lot of hurdles for these two wonderful men to overcome, with baggage, bumps and bruises included, but they do get their well deserved HEA.
If you enjoy amazing chemistry with high heat levels, a dash of angst and a few feels, then this is for you.
I highly recommend this first instalment in the Jokers Sin series and am looking forward to more in this fantastic universe.

This book was disappointing. First the dance scene meet cute was so cringy, next our “hero” screws someone else right after said meet cute, and then from there the story turned into a days of our lives OTT episode including mob bosses. Yeah the initial premise was good, however the execution left a lot to be desired.

Okay I loved Davidson King's Haven Hart series and I knew that Atlas would have a book and was looking forward to it.

Well, I was disappointed on how it turned out. I think that I just didn't connect with the characters and I didn't like the decisions that they had to make. I was hoping for more but it just fell flat for me.

Also couldn't get the audio because I despise John Solo... so that is out of the question.

I don't think I will continue with this series, I don't want to taint the Haven Hart Series with this one.

Dance into my world

Davidson King’s writing is addictive as this series is. I was hooked from the first page and I want more. I also want to visit Joker’s Sin. Atlas knows how to throw a party and he’s magnetic; whereas, Toby is quieter but just as captivating in his way. Plus, I think his words are beautiful when it matters. “I sometimes think you’re the music. Hold me, move, and we’ll find our rhythm.” They both pulled at my heartstrings but they are a light that shines bright in Haven Hart.

“No one should fight a war alone.” Truer words and the Joker’s Sin crew is family. I can’t wait to read more about each of them as they find love but Toby and Atlas in particular are electric together. They’re not afraid to fight for what matters and in Haven’s Hart when you find it, you never let go. Amazing, enthralling and suspenseful; every time I visit Haven Hart I never know what’s going to happen but I do know it will leave an indelible mark on my heart.

I came expecting to like it, and like it I did. If I had to name Toby and Atlas as a pairing, I'd say cinnamon roll / smooth and slick. Toby is all sweetness and cuteness, too pure for the slum that he lands on before finding Joker's Sin. Atlas has seen all the bad things the world can offer, but doesn't let them taint his showman persona. Together they make a lovely pair. I wish we'd seen more in between moments in their courtship. They went from fantasy to love a bit too fast for my liking, but there was a transition between them so I'll let it pass.

So good to be back in Haven Hart!

This book was a joy to read. A balance of passion, deceit and general mayhem, it's part love story, part revenge and all written with emotional prose.

Atlas is the owner of Joker's Sin, the top gay night club in Haven Hart. Toby works at a rival and seedier gay club, Vick's Tricks, but longs to fulfill his fantasy of being with Atlas.

After Toby squelches a potential brawl inside Joker's Sin, Atlas offers him the job as floor manager. One drawback hinders Toby from committing on the spot - having to tell Vick he's leaving. Vick is not a kind nor forgiving boss and treats his employees badly and often with violence.

Once Vick learns of Toby's plans, he forces him to pass along information about Joker's Sin and Atlas so he can ruin Atlas' club. Toby begins working for Atlas, but must work two nights a week for two weeks at Vick's Tricks before Vick will release him. This is when Toby is to pass along information to Vick, who "owns" most of the town's political leaders and police force, regarding Joker's Sin.

When Toby tries to stall Vick, the vile owner has Toby abducted and physically beaten. He also threatens to have Toby's wheelchair-bound sister harmed if Toby does not begin cooperating.

Atlas and his staff rally around Toby and, along with a few uncorrupted police, formulate a plan to take Vick down. The plan goes slightly sideways, placing Toby once again in peril.

The world building, particularly regarding Atlas' club, is exceptional. The dialogue is befitting the characters, who are all well developed. Both MCs have tragedy in their pasts and heal each other beautifully. The supporting characters are well used and faithful.

Can Toby and Atlas manage to build a relationship amongst all the mayhem and lies? Or will their scars stop any meaningful bonds from forming? Read "Joker's Sin" at discover for yourself.

This is the first spin-off book from the Haven Hart series. Atlas, owner of the night club Joker's Sin, had been a side character in this series, but we wanted to see his story told. He is living and breathing his club and within its walls he reigns. He is surrounded by his trusted friends Max, Ciro and Ledger, who work for him. He isn't in a relationship and the men he sleeps with are only temporary in his life. The patrons of his club love him and adore him, basking in his presence when he bestows it on them. When he meets Toby St. Claire, he's got no idea that his world is going to change. Toby works for Vick Keller, a shady night club and bar owner, who has set his vengeful eyes on Atlas' establishment. While he is a bit naive in regards to his boss, he feels indebted to his sister after an accident and works hard and keeps his head down to pay rent and medical bills. His only highlight after crueling shifts is the one day he has off and he spends his evening in Joker's Sin to enjoy the atmosphere and to ogle his crush, Atlas Durant.
I really enjoyed reading Atlas and Toby's book. For me it was low angst with just enough hardship to forgive the predictability of the events. The sex is sweet and hot, just the right mixture and not too much of it either.

This is an incredible start to a new series. I haven't read the Haven Hart series yet but while it is set in this universe it can be totally read as a standalone.

Atlas and Toby are so sweet together. They have amazing chemistry. Atlas is an enigma and Toby is enamored from the start. The progression of their relationship is well paced. I love all the secondary characters, especially Atlas' group of friends. I'm super curious about Max's story. I think the next book is going to Shane and Ledger (DJ Edge)?

I totally loved this book and highly recommend it if you're looking for scorching chemistry, drama, a bit of angst and a well deserved HEA.

Joker’s Sin is Axel’s life. He lived and breathed his haven. The most popular club in Haven Hart. It’s the place to see and be seen. He’s an honorable man. Taking care of his family of friends.

Toby has one night a week away from his crap job and scary boss. The only thing he wants that one night a week is to bask in the glow that is Axel and Joker’s Sin. Until the slime that is his boss threatens Toby, his sister, and the man he is starting to care for.

The author has presented readers with another group of people to care about and root for in the Haven Hart universe. I’m thinking that with most of the (good) bad guys in Haven Hart doing their thing. They are making it safer for the innocents like Toby to be safe.

Nice story with intriguing characters and the writing as always is well done. Looking forward to more from the Joker’s Sin world.

She has done it again. I thought Poe's book was the last we would hear from Haven's Hart but I was glad to be wrong!

Toby and Atlas are a great opposites attract couple. Atlas always has an air of mystery about him when he was debuted in "A Dangerous Dance." Now we got his story. Looking forward to Ledger and Shane's story and most definitely the one to put manwhore Max in his place.

Great first book of the new series!!

4 stars. Audiobook. Story is a nice romance set in a dance club. Shy, timid bartender and outgoing super sexy club owner. Nice protective vibes, turns dark toward the end when uncouth businessmen don’t like being told no.

Audio may not be for everyone, dual narration, very different voices, give a sample a try before buying to make sure you like how the characters are voiced.

HEA, dance club, club owner, bartender, floor manager, m/m, corrupt town.

What an exceptional read this was. So many new characters to fall in love with and get to know and sometimes hate. Secrets have a way coming out and making people wonder about you. I loved how Toby and Atlas worked at becoming a couple and had to find it in themselves to understand and forgiveness.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves reading Davidson King.

5+ stars.... A great start to this one and I was hooked in with the MCs. I absolutely loved how Toby and Atlas meet so cute and steamy. It's not long before things get dangerous for Toby with his partly ex-employer. Yah and I'm glued to the book.
Atlas didn't want relationships because of his past but yah he feels something.. but you got to read. A gorgeous book with chemistry, danger, drug bosses, humour & flirting, sexy scenes and more with a HEA ending. Beautifully written with both POVs. The scenes of bad violence where included up to a point and was followed onward after that point which I was grateful for but could imagine the events missing.
I hadn't read any of The Haven Hart series before this and read this as a standalone book. This is book one of the series and I'll definitely be following this one for more great books to read.

Atlas had built his club Jokers Sin to be the most popular gay club. Toby has a crush on Altas and hoped one day he notice him. And oh boy does he..but danger in involved.

This is a startlingly awkward book to read. As another reviewer mentioned, it starts off heavy on the appearance descriptions, in an excessively detailed manner. It tends towards the info dumping, which is a rough way to start any book. Both characters read very wooden, and despite their obvious differences (as explained in paragraphs, not by showing), they also kind of talk the same. (stiltedly)

Toby is the blushing (male) ingenue, Atlas is supposedly the worldly older man with A Past. A boring pairing at the best of times, let alone when we're headed for the personalities of Blushing Man and Protector Man. Who is also Most Wanted Man Ever - also boring. Blushing Man captures the attention of World-Weary Man and makes him feeeeeel okay I'm stopping with the capitals now

The way they get their dinner together was ...eeeee. It sounded like Toby did ballroom dancing on a club stage? I don't know, it wasn't terribly clear, but all I can think about is how unbearably embarrassing that would be to witness.

Supremely blah.
