We shared the love of a lifetime. Too bad I don’t remember any of it.
Pieces of my life were ripped away without warning. My career, my control, my sense of self…it’s gone.
So are my memories of him.
I now know him as the handsome doctor who was there for me when I first woke up after the accident. But before that, he was the love of my life. My everything.
Or so I’m told.
I’m not the woman he remembers. I’m just a ghost with her face. An unfortunate remnant of the happily ever after, fairy tale kind of romance we apparently had together.
He says he’ll wait for me. That he won’t stop fighting for us, even if he has to make me fall in love with him all over again.
I think he’s right. I will fall for him.
But the real question is, can he truly ever love me for who I am now? Or will his heart always belong to the memory of who I used to be?
Raylin Marks is the author of steamy romance and fun adventures!! Her love and passion for writing is purely driven to help introduce readers to characters and fun worlds to get lost in with hot alpha males that make even Raylin swoon as she writes them. Marks stepped into the publishing world with her debut Reverse Harem series: Immortal Devotion. She moved from there into a different steamy genre and wrote Chase’s story in a stand-alone book titled: Needing Chase. After Chase, Raylin decided to finally let these “Billionaires” start having their voice. In July 2020, the first book in her Billionaires’ Club series was released: Dr. Mitchell. She’s excited to continue on through the lives of the rest of these men. Let’s hope her laptop can hang while she continues on her journey of writing and publishing.
Dr Brooks is an emotional read. The topic is amnesia. In this case is the heroine who got into traumatic accident. Miss Marks done a great job woving the story to live. Collins Brooks is certainly that ideal man/ doctor you want to have when you have amnesia. He is sweet, patience and caring. And I always have soft spot for patience hero.
Miss Marks putting such a emotional, vulnerable and sweet romance in such tenderness. Her writing does not involved a lot of climax or dramatic moment yet it works beautifully at the end. My only complain about this book is the length. It certainly can be cut without feeling dragging.
I liked this the best from the series. I liked the characters a bit better and the storyline was very “grey’s anatomy” which is another guilty pleasure of mine. :)
Some advise for the author- have a mom friend check your kid characters. They are so far beyond “very articulate for their age”. It just sounds ridiculous:
“Has no water,” John said, eyeing it like we were on a safari and rescuing an animal or something. “It’s dead, though.” He shoved his hands into the pockets of his cuffed little jeans, looked at me, and shrugged. “We gotta get it. Daddy says Uncle Collin saves them.”
JOHN IS ONE YEAR OLD. You know what one year olds say? Not anything close to that exchange. I’m sure even genius one year olds would mostly be putting pine needles in their mouth and speaking in fragmented sentences.
Same thing happened last book with little Addison. She was 4 and sounded like a 10 year old. My kid is smart as shit and has off the chart communication skills, but she didn’t sound like that. At least through in some nonsense here and there.
Idk... pet peeve of a parent. Can be avoided if consulted with a mom or two. ;)
KU 3rd in Billionaires Club. MC's Dr Collin Brooks, Dr. Elena Alverez. Collin is a neurosurgeon and a very good one, cares about his patients and is always in a good mood. Elena is a neuropychiatrist and works with Collin. Collin and Elena are soulmates. The four men in this Billionaire's Club are: Dr. Jake Mitchell, Mr. James Mitchell, Dr. Collin Brooks, and Mr. Alex Grayson. Jake and Collin have been best friends for ever. Jake and James are brothers. Alex and James are best friends. Jake is a cardiologist and Ash is his wife. They have a one year old son and Ash is pregnant with their second. James is a businessman (owns may properties and businesses) Avery is his wife ( she has a daughter, Addison) previous relationship. They are getting married at Christmas in Hawaii and they are preganant with their second child. Collin and Elena are planning on getting married in April. Chapter 28 Elena is in a snowboarding accident hitting a tree. She is airlifted to St. John's for neurosugery performed by Collin with Jake as an asssist. Her dad is called in too. This was my favorite so far in the series. It was kind of like a mini-series on a Doctor show. I love all of the characters especially Jake and James. This book really showed Collin as the awesome Doctor and his fun loving personality and his capacity for love and sorrow. This book also gave us more insight into Alex Grayson and Dr. Brandt too. Helping readers to get ready for the next stories in the series.
Review I Liked: This is the 3rd book in the Billionaires Club Series and it was for sure a tear jerker. I can’t remember the last time a book had my emotions all over the place.
This book was kind of a slow read but once it picked up it took off with jet speed. I loved the love story of the story of Collin and Elena and even though I thought at times the falling in love part was just too quick and too unrealistic I stop and think was it really?!?! Love can really make you say and feel so crazy and wild things ❤️
The author did an AMAZING job making you feel raw emotions as you get deeper into the story. I listen to the story via audio book and hats off to the narrator’s because they really REALLY brought this thing to life. My heart shattered for Collin and I knew it was wrong but I had gotten to a point that I even became extremely frustrated with Elena. This book deals with amnesia and the toll that something like that can take on a person, friends, family and love of their lives. I got that it had to be hard for Elena and my heart broke for her as well….. but FML I guess it was just all over emotions.
I also love how the characters from the other stories are included in th and how you get to still get part of the other stories within in book. Because there is no epilogue in the books it’s nice to get a little more info on what the others are up to while reading.
What I didn’t like about the book was the vocabulary of a one year old was BEYOND unrealistic. No one year one and I do mean not one has a vocabulary like that can hold conversations and answer questions so clearly. So aside from that the book was really good. Like I said it starts out SSSSSSSSSLOOOOOOOOW but if you can power through ( and get past the super fake one year old’s vocabulary) you’ll really enjoy it.
So, the synopsis of this is that Elena and Collin fall madly in love but then Elena gets into a tragic accident leaving her with memory loss and having no idea who Collin is.
With that in mind, I thought the accident would happen at about 20% in but no, it doesn't happen up 54% and she doesn't wake from the coma until 61% of the way through the story. The first half was sooo boring and I couldn't care less about them getting to know each other, I just wanted to see how they would get through the accident.
Also, I don't think the author has ever been around children before because she has a 1 year old talking like a 5 year old and a 5 year old talking like a 10 year old. What 1 year old can form proper sentences and knows the word Frankenstein and its meaning? Absolutely ridiculous.
Dnf:ing this series. I wanted to like it more than I did. Billionaire has never been my thing and the fmc:s are weird. This book had so much potential when it started in a really fun way but eventually fell flatand becamereally boring with long medical dialogue etc.
Still giving it 2 stars because of great narrators, the spice is well done and this is free with my audible membership - but that’s not enough to save this series for me.
Book one was better. This one could have been better if the mc wasn't annoying. I don't get what was great about her except she smiled a lot and she was Cuban. The h was hot mc dreamy but the mc was mcdreary. Didn't get how she looked and the 12 chapters of making the h call her doctor instead of her first name got old and annoying. It was not realistic for how the mc acted hard to get.
Couldn't stand the mc on how she treated the h so pretty much lost interest. Didn't care anymore to read the tragedy of the annoying mc loosing her memory. Maybe if the author made the mc likable and the romance was not at a very very turtle pace before the big angst of the main plot and the mc was more interesting or likable, this would have been a great book. Disappointed that mc dreamy didn't get an awesome heroine. This book was not for me.
SOMETHING I HAVE NOTICED ABOUT THIS SERIES IS THERE’S NO EPILOGUES BUT THEIR STORY’S CONTINUE IN THE NEXT BOOK IN THE OTHER CHARACTER SERIES. SO TECHNICALLY YOU DON’T HAVE TO READ THE OTHERS IT DOES HELP OF YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS WITH THE COUPLE.
DR BROOKS IS THE HOT NERO SURGEON. AT A MEDICAL CONFERENCE HE SEES DR. ELENA ALVEREZ ON THE DANCE FLOOR AND HE IS SURE HE WILL BE HER HUSBAND ONE DAY. ON MONDAY SHE BECOMES HIS NERO THERAPIST TO WORK RIGHT ALONG SIDE HIM. THEIR LOVE STARTS OFF FAST AFTER 3 WEEKS OF DATING SHE PROPOSES. ONE MONTH BEFORE THEIR WEDDING SHE GOES ON HER ANNUAL SNOWBOARDING TRIP. WHILE COLLIN IS ON CALL FOR THAT WEEKEND A SNOWBOARDER WAS BROUGHT IN LOW AND BEHOLD IT’S ELENA. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN ELENA WAKES UP FROM COMA? THIS STORY IS AN EMOTIONAL ROLLER COASTER!
Wonderful book to read! Collin and Elena. Colin is a neurosurgeon who saw Elena dancing at a conference. He went up to her to Salsa and announced that he would be her future husband! You read about neurosychiatrist work, neurosurgeon questions and treatment, and brain injuries. All along, you follow their romance. Excellent!
Such a great book! I loved the medical aspect of this story and how the main character was a neurosurgeon and the other a neuropsychologist. It was like watching an episode of Grey’s Anatomy. It wasn’t just a romance book but had a plot and pulled at all emotions.
This was definitely the most emotional book so far and for sure the first book I’ve read that had that many ups and downs especially after the accident. Elena and Collin met at a conference (I think) and hit if of instantly. He claimed that she was going to be his wife and was convinced by it. She told him she was going to be the new neuropsychologist. At his hospital. They hit it of pretty quickly. They were in a relationship after only 3 weeks of knowing each other. It was funny how at the beginning Collin was already whipped and Elena knew of course but still wanted him to call him Dr. Alvarez and not Elena just to fuck with him. Collin was an amazing surgeon. I loved the way he was with his patients and also during his operations. Elena and Collin were and amazing team while at work but outside of it too. SPOILER Elena went to her ski trip with her friends. When there was an emergency at the hospital and they said that it was a woman who had been in a skiing accident I already knew it was going to be Elena. She had a heart attack, her heart wasn’t beating but they luckily brought her back to life and she was in a coma. Collin was the neurosurgeon on call and he did the surgery on her brain and she had a tumor that nobody knew about. Because the tumor was in the frontal lobe he had to do a craniotomy where she would have to be awake to remove the tumor completely but she was in a coma so he could not remove the tumor entirely. It was so amazing how calm he was during the operation even though he was operating his fiancées brain that could be dead if he made a mistake. That was also the day he learned about her being pregnant but her having a miscarriage. He was so strong. After he operated on her brain she was in a coma for 3 weeks. When she woke up she was disoriented and didn’t remember the last 10 years. She was such a bitch to him. It’s like she was a complete different person. Collin tried to make her love him again but at the end she wasn’t I love with him. She felt like the others wanted her to be like the old Elena. Collin did everything he could do to make her remember. He brought her to the beach house, he bought her a horse he promised her as a wedding gift. After they completely broke it of she came in to the hospital again after a month. This time he presented with headaches and dizziness. She wanted to be operated but he refused because the Tumor hasn’t grown. Then she was rushed to the hospital because she had a seizure and the Tumor has grown vastly and Collin had to operate. He did the craniotomy and woke her mid surgery up to remove the Tumor fully. He did. The surgery was successful and she went home with her father. She was at the lake with her horse when suddenly EVERY MEMORY OF HER AND COLLIN CAME IN. She remembered everything. They got married and they opened that rehab centre.
Also Collin was hot while being in the OR. Every surgeon is hot but he was extra hot. Elena was a pro at when she was doing and ensured her patients were taken care of and she also had a friendly remaltionship with everyone of them. She had like an aura that made everyone who was feeling bad good.
It was so cute to see Ash, Av, Jake, Jim and their kids Addie and John. On Christmas they went to pick up a tree. Someone made a joke and said that Collin didn’t like killing trees so they picked out a tree with brown leaves and he had to sing to the tree which was funny. Av’s and Jim’s wedding in Hawaii was so cute. Jim even had vows for Addie. Elena showed Av how to do a traditional dance. On their wedding day AV TOLD JIM THAT SHE WAS PREGNANT. ASH WAS PREGNANT TOO.
So...while I did give this book a 3 star rating, there are some things to point out and reasons it should probably be a 4.
The first half (or more) of the book is dedicated to story building. Okay, whatever, no big deal, but it gets a bit tedious at times and I was begging for the story to really get into the nitty gritty.
Once you start getting into the twists and turns of the book (and there are A LOT), it get super interesting and captivating...but then it delves into the realm of 'WHAT THE HELL IS THIS AUTHOR DOING TO ME?' 'I'VE BECOME A SOBBING MESS!' and I ended up having to skip pages because I was just crying too damn much. The author really pulls on your heart strings, and unfortunately for me there's just too many chapters dedicated to making you want to cry.
Finally once you start heading into that happy ending, you feel like you've been cut loose from finding out what really happens to them. Like, I literally read the last page and flipped to the next expecting another chapter and there was nothing, so I flipped back a couple pages thinking I missed something, but nope. There was nothing. I honestly felt like the author thought 'okay, the two main characters are back together, the reader can figure out the rest. Peace Out!'
So all in all, while I REALLY wanted to give this book a 4 star rating for it's well thought out twists and turns, it's high emotional wreckage and havoc, and it's decent steam ... I just can't. There were too many pages that I skipped and too much left to be desired at the end. This is one of those cases where an Epilogue would've been greatly appreciated...instead of a four-chapter preview of the next book.
Going to try to not spoil this for anyone… but here we go!
I couldn’t figure out why this book was so long and a third of the way thru I thought I was just going to stop reading, but I told myself to power through just to get to the next book and I am so glad that I did!
Collin and Elena’s whole love story was beautiful and I thought that was the end but wow! When you get to the middle and then it happens… mouth dropped and couldn’t put the book down!
Great writing, amazing character development, beautiful story! This book made me laugh, cry, feel sadness and grief. 10/10 recommend
This book was my favourite in the series. I cried 3 times while reading this book and cracked up so many times. The antics of the characters and the chemistry was amazing. I felt a bit off with Elena sister but there are no negative aspects in my opinion. This book gave me so much feels. I am now both excited and anxious about reading Mr Grayson. Hope it’s as great as this one.
This book took such a twisting turn I wasn't sure what was going to happen! I enjoyed this couple so very much! They made you fall in love with them right off the bat!! They made you feel their pain and even those around themselves pain. I truly enjoyed every minute of it!
This book was slow and dull until Elena’s accident. Then the struggles they endured during that time was just heartbreaking. I wasn’t the biggest fan of this book because it was slow. But man did I cry so much as it was super triggering with the baby loss.
This is the best book in the series so far. Aside from a captivating love story the horror of a brain injury is portrayed with all of its destructive consequences for the patient, family and friends. This story had a happy ending but many do not.
I don't know why this series isn't recommended more as it is steamy and so good, especially for those looking for an author who writes in a similar style to TL Swan.
This is #3 of The Billionaire's Club about two brothers and their best friends. And to get the best insight into the dynamics, I would suggest reading in order.
Colin is a brilliant neuro-surgeon and playboy deluxe, that is until he falls instantly head over heels in love with Elena, who turns out to be none other than his neuro-psychiatrist with whom he will closely be working.
He has to convince her that he has changed his playboy ways and they are about to get married when their worlds fall apart and she has to have brain surgery.
Their love story is beautiful written and gut wrenching. The author has obviously given a lot of thought on how it would feel to work in this field and then come face to face with what the reality is like to actually be the patient and their loved one.
It took a bit too long to get to the real story, but oh my, once there, I just couldn't put it down. I highly recommend it, but have your tissues ready! An added bonus is there is no epilogue and thousands of children!!
If you don’t know anything about this story you know that Collin is gorgeous, sexy, and a world renowned neurosurgeon. It was declared ad nauseam. ***Spoilers***
I felt like the author dwelled on stuff that didn’t matter for too long and the jist of the story was sprinkled in. When the author finally got to the accident and the memory loss, I was loosing interest. The FMC, who was very likable in the first half of the story, became petulant, immature, extremely mean, belligerent, and very close to abusive to the MMC. I thought his reaction was realistic and a good move to have him pull back and give her space to heal as well and reevaluate himself as he felt responsible for her condition. But then she randomly gets her memory back, apologized and was happily back in love. I didn’t like that. After the way she verbally attacked him I would’ve wanted the author to show them relearning each other and ultimately falling back in love.
The story dragged thru mundane stuff like them at work, visiting patients, and sped thru the parts that were important to the plot.
This took a lot of chapters TO START and so much useless information and helping patients and all that which is somehow boring too because I've already watched The Good Doctor and after too many seasons to count I'm done with caring about what happens in a hospital and to the doctors working inside (seriously, that series is a neverending headache).
I thought this would be about Elena forgetting the love of her life and the drama would be about remembering him, maybe even hating him at the beginning. NOT the story of how they fell in love and how they work together and all that because there are better stories out there if I had wanted one.
It took too long to get to the point, there was a lot that was about other books in the series that I haven't read yet. I may never read those other books so all the other plot and info was lost on me. By the time it got to where everything culminated I really didn't care anymore. I skimmed most of the book to the end, sorry I just couldn't take it anymore. And I was listening to it not reading it That's how tedious it became.
DNF at 45%. This book dragged. I kept looking for the story to pickup but gave up after it just didn’t. Maybe one day I’ll come back to it, but. unlikely.
