You had me at ROCK STAR! 😍
This book was adorable! I really liked reading it. It was funny, cute, sparky, sexy, rock stary and a bit heartbreaking. I didn't love his name. No idea why... but I can't take a guy called Ricky serious as a hot rock star! Patrick is his real name - the first one who ever called him Ricky as a grown up needs to be hit over the head with my kindle!🤣 And I hated all those becoming-a-rock-star 'laws'. I would've never signed that contract. He's not a 17 year old boy band cutie. He's a grown man! He could've made it on his own! Grrr. I hated that manager lady at first. But anyway. The story was really sweet and anything rock-stary will always be my favorite kind of book!
Can't wait to see what Kayla's story will be like next - By Fate!
BY CHANCE was an adorable and funny and sparky rock-star-y romance! Please run to your nearest amazon for your own Patrick - this one is mine! MINE!
In book two of her “Poison & Wine” series, Sigal Ehrlich turns up the heat and swoon for a fall read more satisfying than a pumpkin spice latte. Victoria Nielsen doesn’t have the time nor the inclination to be in a serious relationship. She’s content as VP of a multi-million-dollar company, and spending what free time she has with her close knit group of friends and her harem of guys.
Patrick “Ricky” Hart knew he’d found “The One” from the moment he laid eyes on Vicky. He knows the attraction is mutual, the problem is the stubborn woman won’t give them a chance. And on top of that, his new agent has given him the chance to achieve his dreams with one stipulation: he can’t date.
On paper, the two don’t add up. Can they actually make it work?
With Vicky and Ricky, Sigal has created two very likeable individuals. Vicky is a strong, liberated and successful woman with some baggage. But don’t we all carry some around? And Ricky is absolutely swoon worthy. He recognized someone special in Vicky and pursued her relentlessly no matter how many obstacles were in his way.
I only wish I could’ve gotten more details about the character’s lives in general and when they met. Regardless, their chemistry sizzles and sparks off the page.
I also loved the supporting cast. In particular the loveable chickens (Vicky’s sister and friends) who gave an added smile worthy layer to the story from their texts, to their banter to their activities together like “Hensgiving.”
Ehrlich charmed me with this irresistible romance and left me wanting more. “by Fate” can’t come fast enough.
By Chance is book #2 of the Poison & Wine series by author Sigal Ehrlich . It is a standalone, contemporary romance. Told from both points of view with a happy ending. Subgenres: Rocker Romance | Women’s Fiction | Forbidden Romance | opposites attract

"I hope I won't end up being just a song to you." "If it's up to me, I want you to be the soundtrack of my life."
Cue me swooning, like I couldn't stop doing throughout the entirety of this book. Honestly, if I wasn't swooning because my heart was full of fuzzy warm feelings, it was being broken to then be put back together again and being even fuller for it.
Rockstar romances are one of my favorite types of books to read. There's just something insanely romantic about a hot guy being loved my the masses but only singing his song to you and being head over heels for you. And man oh man, did By Chance deliver on this!
I'll say it loud and clear: Ricky holds my heart. The way he went all in for Vicky right from the start, his determination, his one-liners, his songs, his intense stares while singing, the way he kept showing up for her even when she tried to push him away... I can't count the amount of times I had to stop reading for a minute or so out of pure fear of falling in love with Ricky myself. Let's be honest, I completely failed at that! The man is swoon worthy if nothing else. The way he always worries his scar or plays with his necklace when he's worried, anxious or thinking about something just did things to me. And then I haven't mentioned his tattooed arm, *faint*.
The romance in this book was sublime. I've got to give it to Sigal Ehrlich, she did a great job. The writing was so masterful that she managed to make a book based on instalove one of my new favorite books, even though I loathe the instalove trope. But, it was SO. WELL. DONE. It just felt natural. And the combination of that with both of the characters denying the intensity of their feelings, *licking my fingers because it was so delicious to read*. Vicky's emotional constipation (or defense mechanisms) was just the cherry on top.
Honestly, I'll never write a review that can do this book justice. I can only tell you that you NEED to read this book if you like: - heartwarming contemporary romance - swoon worthy, hot, tatted, lead singer of a band / rockstar x strong and powerful but emotionally constipated VP who has a hard time giving up control - hilarious group of friends - cheeky cows (read it to get it ;) ) - emotional damage that gets healed by the art of kintsugi (you know, the golden glue that's used to repair ceramics)
Ooh, I almost forgot to say it was so nice to read about Tyler and Ivi again, even if it was just for a few fleeting moments. Unplugged has a special place in my heart as well!
**I received a free copy from the author through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you SO, SO much!**
Second read (Jan 2023): 5 stars I stand by my review. Just wanted to add the following: TW: fertility issues, miscarriage
Quick Summary: Sexy, satisfying, and utterly swoon worthy!
My Review: Every now and again, one may happen upon a book that makes an impression. By Chance by Sigal Ehrlich is one such book that made a lasting impression on this reader. It was sexy and fun, it was satisfyingly sweet, and it was swoon worthy when it came to Vic and Ricky. They were totally relationship goals 2.0.
What I Loved About This Book: - The Chickens were insanely funny. I loved their friendship circle. They were unapologetically who they were. - The humor was crazy. I found myself laughing throughout my reading experience. - The text stream needed its own zip code. I totally could have lived in it. (Lol...) - The name of the establishment where the band played - I loved, loved, loved the name. The vibe was golden. - The farm outing was hilarious. That cow scene was everything. - The Hensgiving! (High 5 on that!!!) - The author did a fantastic job of introducing the other characters. The new lead singer of the band and the drummer certainly got my attention. Also, I cannot wait to meet Justin. (Bring it on!) - The leads were driven, fresh, and textured all on their own. When they came together, however, they were explosive.
Rating: 4/5 Recommend: Yes Audience: NA to A Re-read: Yes Keeper: Yes Series Follow: Yes
Appreciation is expressed to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley who provided access to this ARC in exchange for an honest review. The words I have expressed are my entirely my own and have not been influenced by the aforementioned in any way.
I received this book for free from NetGalley for my honest review.
I was so excited to get this book. I love reading about women who are successful in the business world and Vicky THAT. It’s her focus so she prefers casual when it comes to romantic relationships. Ricky is a musician who is “found” and has to do some typical Hollywood style things due to his contract. I absolutely hate that for him or anyone that has to do that. While I love the glamour of Hollywood I wish their were less “fake” things going around. It was hard to read what they had to go through to be together, yet I had to find out how they were going to make it work!
There were definitely times during this story where I was beyond frustrated with Vicky. I really wanted to understand why she handles things the way she does…. Things become clearer as the story progress and I won’t deny it rips my heart a little! Of course this book puts it right back together.
I truly enjoyed this book! I was incredibly sad about the fact that there was no epilogue, but I’m sure we will hear a little bit more about them in the next book. I believe it focuses on another friend of the group.
Oh and in case you were wondering this is an “open” story. No fade to black here!
First of all, question: Does it say anywhere in the story what's the job of Victoria? I know that she has a high position in a company, but what do they do exactly?
On to my review, Stuff that I liked less: - Sometimes there is more telling than showing. - I rolled my eyes hard at . - the way that Vicky bailed all the time, especially the time when she left Ricky in the lurch because her picture was taken. Why didn't she go back to Ricky? Did she feel safer to be away from him at that moment? How to trust that she would not bail again? Did I miss any groveling?
What I liked better: - seeing how Ricky went from a not-known singer to a viral hit overnight - the girls squad - how Ricky never gave up on Vicky - him calling her babe 🤣
Tbh, this book didn't really hit me in the feels. It was a nice read though!
I picked up this ARC knowing it was a second in the series. I almost immediately put it down to read the first one because I loved the witty banter and flow. (Sidebar; also loved the first book)
You could easily read this one without the first… but don’t miss out once you read this one I have no doubt you’ll pick up the other.
The story is about a strong independent female (Vic) with non traditional relationships that she makes no apologies for. That is until bad boy (Ricky) comes in and flips her agenda.
Questioning everything she isn’t sure how Rocky got under her skin, but he did.
You will not regret picking up this book that you won’t want to put down. Cheers to Sigal and this great read.
I loved the illustration for the cover of this book. It’s so pretty and what made me interested in it. Victoria has no time to be in a relationship but then something happens :) Great read totally recommend !
“By mistake” is the first book in a series by Sigal Ehrlich.
Anna has a lot of things going on. The same goes for Liam, and they have both decided that relationships are off the record. They have friends, and they have jobs, which is what they have decided to prioritize. But things might change, when the two of them meet each other.
This is a slow and relaxing read. And it is a pretty cute story, so I am sure that you will enjoy it. It is a story of accidental relationships - what is not to like? Even if you do not like the characters, the storyline is cute enough, that you will like the book.
The characters are likeable, and they are well described in the book. Especially their development through the story, is what I enjoyed about them.
There are furthermore some hilarious parts of the book. This goes for the dialogue, other communication forms, as well as the storyline. It works out perfectly.
As the cover shows, this is also a book about the digital world. It is a very interesting take on the whole thing, and it works out pretty well. I like this new twist.
I am excited to see where Sigal Ehrlich takes the second book in the series.
This is second book of author Sigal Ehrlich's Poison & Wine series.
In this story Victory Nielson doesn't want to be in a serious relationship. She's happy being the VP of a big time company and enjoys spending her free time with her friends and the harem of men that she has.
From the moment that Ricky Hart set eyes on Vicky he was a goner. He knows that Vicky feels the same attraction to him as he does to her, but she's very stubborn and wont even give him a chance. Along with meeting the girl of his dreams his new agent gives him the change to achieve all of his dreams but there is one stipulation, he is not aloud to date.
Ehrlich has pulled all the stops with the development of the characters in this book. She shows how social media can affect a person success, how pictures that are uploaded or statements can be misconstrued. The social media aspect made me stop and think about using social media.
Although I liked this book. I am not keen on the shortening of names. Especially when they rhyme, they are way too cheesy for me. The characters themselves I liked. Vicky is strong and successful, but she comes with baggage, just like most women. Ricky is what they call swoon worthy. He saw something special in Vicky and decided that he wanted her, so he pursued her, despite all of the obstacles that were placed in his way.
This was a wonderful story and I am glad that I read it. I would definitely recommend this book to my friends. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher, Sigal Ehrlich OU, for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
Complimentary copy was given for my honest review and open. ARC copy provided by NetGalley. Ricky becomes famous overnight but Vicky isn't too sure she is ready to be in the spotlight. This romance makes happily ever after look possible.
A light yet enjoyable read for anyone who wants to detach for a bit and set foot into another world unlike their own. Sigel Ehrlich sets a scene in the world of online dating you feel you know intimately.
Absolutely loved this! Was really well written and an excellent read in between the dark romances I read! Thank you for the ARC! Such good story can't wait to read more from this Author!
By Mistake is the first book in the Poison & Wine series by Sigal Ehrlich. There’s so much going on in Anna’s life. Teaching countless hours at the studio and nurturing the three major relationships of her life – her group of tight-knit friends, all while attempting to not screw up this whole adulthood thing leaves very little time to waste on yet another dating app. At this point, a relationship is off the menu. Being “self-partnered” is more than enough. A serious relationship has been crossed off Liam Brody’s list of goals, at least for the foreseeable future. Completing his residency and becoming a trauma surgeon is his only priority. Casual relationships, his friends, and books are the only things he’s willing to lose his precious free time to. When an accidental email starts a deep online connection, both Liam and Anna dive in with zero concern, because there’s really no harm in getting close to someone who you’ll never meet in real life, right? Wrong. When a turn of events brings their “safe” virtual connection to an unexpected face-to-face, Anna and Liam learn their online chemistry pales in comparison to the real deal. A realization that brings along the bazillion-dollar question – what do you do when you meet The One at the most impossibly wrong time?
By Mistake is a book that left me with mixed feelings. I loved the set up, the banter, and most of the characters. I thought the story had great potential, and that the friend groups for both Liam and Anna were interesting. I found myself greatly enamored of Anna and her friend group- particularly the level of honest they had with themselves and each other. I liked the conversations between Anna and Liam, and the way they got to know each other via e-mail and actually coming to care about each other as people first. I did find myself a little annoyed with Liam's friend group- even as he acknowledged the stereotypes and rude commentary in his head, he never really called them out and at the same time had some stereotypes that he applied the those around him as well. I did like that he took consent and protection seriously, but the fact that he was a busy man saving lives did not make him the golden child I think he was supposed to be. His 'teasing' Anna about her passion for eating clean and other things just rubbed me the wrong way. There were also time gaps, which is necessary sometimes, but it just felt like everyone was waiting for Liam to get his head together and ignoring their own needs/wants in the mean time. I liked the style and tone of the book, but I do not think I will be continuing the series even though the secondary characters were me favorite part of the story.
By Mistake is an amusing contemporary romance that I think will speak to other readers more than I.
After receiving the first book in this series for free, I was invested enough in the characters to purchase this new release.
Synopsis: In this book, Anna's older sister, the put-together BA corporate boss-lady, Victoria Nielsen (aka 'Vicky'), finally gives Broken Chord's frontman, Patrick Hart (aka 'Ricky'), the time of day. After an epic (and platonic) day together, both Ricky and Vicky (God, these names...) realize they have incredible chemistry. But, if there's one thing Vicky is committed to, it's remaining uncommitted. She has her regular rotation of guys, and a few hook-ups, but she's not a girl to ever give a guy a reason to want to stick around, until Ricky.
Ricky knows a good thing when he sees it. Vicky's special and he isn't going to let her push him away. But when the career opportunity of a lifetimes comes knocking, and Ricky finally gets his big break in the music business, will he and Vicky have what it takes to actually make something between them work long-term?
Review: This book was spicier that the first, but somehow I wasn't as invested in Ricky and Vicky's relationship as I was in Anna & ER doctor, Liam's.
It felt like there were gaps/holes in the story where I missed details or needed more: 1. Ricky moving in with his grandpa because he was lonely and depressed, but literally is never home with him (especially after his record deal), nor does his reason for moving out seem okay - when did his grandpa get better? 2. The issue about children (and Vicky's inability(?) to carry a baby to term) is just kind-of glossed over by Ricky. I am assuming there are health risks associated with her getting pregnant since many PID pregnancies are entoptic, yet this is not ever addressed on page. 3. Ricky's very hands-on manager just lets him dictate the terms of their agreement when he draws the line in the sand over Vicky? This just didn't make sense after everything she'd done - especially because he was still a relatively unknown commodity (his album wasn't even finished - there was no guarantee of its eventual Grammy-nominating success). 4. I can't suspend disbelief enough to see how a long-term relationship will work between the two MCs. I just can't see it working, regardless of the chemistry. Hopefully books 3 and beyond will show enough of these two that I can reconcile their career incompatibility and believe in their HEA.
So, will I keep reading future books? Yes! I am looking forward to Kayla's book since I really enjoy this author's writing style and like this world/girl-gang she's built.
Tropes & TWs: Rockstar Romance, he falls first, career-forced separation, girl gang, barrenness, surprise pregnancy, & on page miscarriage.

by Chance is a delightful read for several reasons, but perhaps mentioning the animated cover of this rom-com with a difference would be a good start. Not a lover of the graphic art look, I like this one a lot. It’s sassy—it’s Victoria Nielsen to a tee!
‘The Chickens’ are back in book two of the Poison and Wine series! This group of friends support one another through thick and thin and don’t mess around when it comes to letting their hair down, either. I couldn’t help laughing while observing them in their rather unusual get-togethers. So, for those of you who haven’t met the gals in by by Mistake, don’t fret! Ehrlich has penned their stories in such a way that each book stands alone.
I had to give Patrick Hart, aka Ricky, his due. Regardless of the setbacks, he’ll do his best to convince Vicky that he is the one. Whilst I liked her business-first attitude and ambitiousness, I couldn’t have been happier when she eventually saw Ricky for who he is. But will he rock her world? Rock pun intended because we’re talking about a crooner that makes the ladies go weak at the knees!
Life’s curveballs always have a way of surprising. A contract with a bottom-line, a chance to go it alone, but—there’s a connection that neither Ricky nor Vicky could ever have imagined. Say no more! Now the fun begins. Ooh, boy! I’m not sure what I would have done if I’d been in their shoes. But one thing’s for sure, Ricky doesn’t want to turn down this opportunity of a lifetime and Vicky—well, she has to do what she’s gotta do.
Ehrlich has not only gone all out with the plot and character development, but the social media take on the story is fascinating. How it could affect one’s success, how statements or uploaded pics are more than often misconstrued, and how online dating is put into perspective. I truly liked this aspect as it made me sit back and think.
What I wasn’t so keen on were the protagonists’ shortened names. They rhymed too much for my liking; however, Ricky’s a loveable chap, and in my book, he couldn’t put a foot wrong. Vicky—there were times when she tested my patience. It’s not a fast road, but what I liked more about their story were the surprises, playful banter and goodness me, can the author write steamy scenes or what!
Although I’m not a huge fan of rockstar romances, I thoroughly enjoyed reading Ricky and Vicky’s story. And Kyla’s? I cannot wait to find out what is in store for her in by Fate.
Full disclosure, I haven’t read the first book in the series but I was drawn to the cover and description, so I took a chance for an ARC. I’ve read books out of order before and could usually pick up without any problems but I struggled here. I’m not sure if it’s the author and their writing style that I’m unfamiliar with or the story itself but I felt…lost. The first several chapters had plenty of dialogue but it didn’t lead anywhere substantial until about 15% in when the metaphorical train finally takes off on the tracks, but I digress.
The premise of this book centers around Vicky, a go-getter VP who’s worked too hard to settle down with any man. She’s only looking for fun and casual dating yet Ricky, a literal overnight singing sensation and rising star, seems to be getting under her skin. They both have carefully crafted images to protect and dream careers to pursue but they can’t stay away from each other, much to the detriment of their professional personas.
In another time, I would say this book was an easy read (although SPOILER and CW re miscarriage) but it was almost too easy? The storyline has potential to be interesting but I really felt forced to finish because the characters were lacking depth. Sometimes it felt like paragraphs, even whole chapters, were just a blurb. There were just too many montage-feeling moments. We’re just being told of Vicky and Ricky’s descent into love instead of experiencing it as readers. My favorite books have me falling in love right along with the characters as they’re on ~their journey~ together, but I couldn’t get attached with these two. Sometimes they simply expressed their longing for each other by literally listing things. It felt like reading the introductory paragraph to an essay, when you’re first taught to list all your talking points.
I think this book would be perfect for a “new adult” reader but I prefer my books with more wit and banter between the characters. The steamy scenes were good but nothing that I haven’t read before in a romance.
Unfortunately, as detailed as this story can be, it wasn’t enough for me to form any attachments to the characters let alone the book.

Power-woman Victoria is a woman dominating in a mans world and are obsessed with controlling every little thing about her life since one little sign of weakness could break her career. That includes getting into a committed relationship. There is only one thing she can’t control and his name is Ricky. The sexy single that sings in a local band that plays at Vicky and her friends favorite bar. He got his eyes on Vicky and won’t give up. Not even when he get a record deal that says he must remain single. On paper Ricky and Vicky is total opposites, but yet they can’t seams to stay away from each other. Somethings are beyond contracts and control..
I really enjoyed this book. The story had a good flow and it was a pleasant ride. It was well written and I would recommend it to someone that doesn’t read much since it’s easy to catch up in the story and you don’t need to read 1/3 of the book to feel like you have a grip on the story. I almost got a little Sex and the City vibe with the four women that were best friends and very different. I think that a lot of women who are single around 30 can relate to Victoria’s fare of losing the strong and independent side of herself by being in a ”normal” relationship. I liked that Vicky talked open about her dating-style that is probably something that’s more stereotypically something a man would do since it’s 2021 and sex is something all genders enjoy. I would have liked a better picture of how Ricky’s life were before Victoria and the record deal. My first thought about him are a guy with tattoos who follow Victoria around like a little puppy. Except from wanting more I think this book were pretty good. It could make a good movie. Who can resist a hot tattooed hero that can sing? Book one is on my want to read list and can’t wait for the next book.
I recived an ARC copy in order to write an honest review. Thank you, I truly enjoyed it.

By Mist@ke by Sigal Ehrlich was very enjoyable to read. Anna is a passionate fitness instructor in the process of taking over ownership of the studio she works at, which has always been a dream for her. Anna is extremely independent aside from her amazingly cooky group of friends. Liam, on the other hand, is a goal orientated Trauma Surgeon completing his residency, with a strict timeline when it comes to his career and relationships. One of Liam's main rules: I don't have time for a relationship, and nothing is going to change that until he's started a fellowship.
Liam is thrown for a loop when he accidentally sends an email meant for a long-time friend to Anna. Thanks to a "monthly challenge" put in place by Anna's group of friends, Anna replies to the email, and the two click immediately. Soon enough, Anna and Liam become each others main source of happiness, no matter how hard the day gets, which is no big deal, they're just harmless emails, both thinking nothing will happen. Everything changes when they realize they live in the same city. Upon meeting, they both realize that what was just an online connection is even more intense in-person. Liam and Anna both know they can't live without the other, their chemistry is simply too strong. What about Liam's career goals, no wife, no kids, not yet.
Fate steps in, and Liam has to decide what's more important; the life plan he's had for years, or the woman he knows is his end-all be-all?
Ehrlich captures readers in a story of undeniable love and unconditional friendship, You can't help but root for the quirky and relatable characters in this book. I can't wait to see what else she has in store as the Poison and Wine series continues.
By Mistake by Sigal Ehrlich is a charming, feel good romance. Anna and Liam "meet" when a cheeky email intended for his friend finds its way to Anna's inbox. She can't resist sending a cheeky response, and so begins their friendship. Neither Anna nor Liam is looking for love. They're both independent, career-driven individuals with big plans for their future and no time for commitment. particularly Liam. But, it's clear that their friendship is developing into something neither one of them can resist. By fate, it so happens that they live in the same city and eventually the pair meet IRL and the sparks can't be denied. The story is filled with many side characters and segues in and out of their lives (sometimes unnecessarily so). Anna's friends are quirky, sometimes too cool - like annoyingly so - and fiercely loyal. Liam's friends are like family. As much as they serve to add depth and interest to the story, sometimes the side plots take away from the romance and developing the relationship between Anna and Liam. They have a very cute relationship and I guess I just wanted a bit more. However, there is one issue within the book that I cannot ignore. Anna's obsession with "clean" eating borders on disordered eating. I wish Liam could have been more of a counter balance to Anna's food POV. At times, she's very preachy about her chosen diet and very often puts down what she perceives to be less nutritious food. It comes up time and time again in the book but at no point is there any acknowledgment of the very real world problem of food insecurity and how unobtainable a diet like Anna's is for a large percentage of the global population. Anna's perspective on nutrition is one of extreme privilege. Frankly, it took away from the likability of her character and of the book. I would have rated it much higher were it not for this aspect.
An absolute must-read for whoever is into cute love stories!
Anna is in the process of getting a loan to buy the fitness studio she works at and spends most of her free time with her best friends. One day, she receives an email that was clearly sent by mistake and, unable to resist, replies. It's the start of something really special for her as a character and for us as readers.
The person who sent the email is Liam, a trauma surgeon doing his residency whose life is consumed by erratic work hours, the possibility of working overseas for Doctors Without Borders and his friends. He has no time at all for any kind of relationship, and despite feeling charmed by Anna's email replies, he's resistant to start anything.
It's a relatively slow burn, but I thought the pace was perfect. Their relationship is the cutest thing and I was left at the end with the wish to read more about them. I'm really excited to read the next ones in the series!
There's only one thing I didn't appreciate much, which is: Anna is passionate about the relationship between what you eat and your health, which is wonderful, but when they're talking about it, he asks hesitantly if she's vegan and, when she says that she is mostly plant-based but eats fish and eggs, he's relieved that she's not "radical". Being a vegan myself, I got quite annoyed: it feels like the only way vegans are represented in books is as being radical and too extreme. I felt there was a really good opportunity there to discuss the subject in an open and light way, but this opportunity was overlooked.
But the rest was great, which is why I gave it five stars. Definitely recommend it as a read!
An equally excellent read as its predecessor. Ehrlich has a knack for amazing character development and engrossing plotlines. While this could easily be read as a standalone, it was so much fun to rejoin the Poison and Wine crew and witness more of their hilarious interactions as a group.
Victoria is a no-nonsense professional in the office and a woman on a mission for fun and pleasure after hours. She has no time or desire for monogamy and is happy with her 'harem' when the need to scratch an itch arises.. So when Ricky a hotter than sin rockstar in the making shows up one day and shows her one of the best nights of her life without getting physical her guard immediately goes up. She's not looking to catch feels, there are reasons she's closed herself off and no one has gotten past yet why should Ricky be any different.
Ricky never believed in love at first sight, that is until he met Victoria. One night of talking, sharing, getting to know one another and he was hooked. He sees she has built up walls of steel around her heart, but he's up for the challenge because he knows she's worth it. But fate has one more hurdle in store for him when his musical career takes off overnight and suddenly the guy looking for nothing more than monogamy with the girl of his dreams will have to appear as a bad boy/player in the press. As if things weren't complicated enough in winning over a woman with enough baggage to fill LAX, now he has to convince her to drop her harem all while publicly appearing to have his own.
This was filled with laughs, realistic life obstacles, and the fear that comes with opening up your heart along with the magic that accompanies it.
This series is so much fun. By Mistake was my first read by Sigal Ehrlich and I was in love with the book by the end of the first chapter. When someone is looking for recommendations this series is always on the top of my list. You don't need to read book one to enjoy By Chance but as the characters are intertwined and you get a glimpse of the chemistries beginnings my thoughts are it's even more enjoyable with book one read. Victoria wants everyone to think she's got herself all out together and she does professional she can take down any man. But personally she tries to navigate her love life like a business because without maintaining that control she'd have to admit her feelings. Which I'll let you read about those. Patrick well he's an artist and wow does he make Vic feel and she hates it, but she also loves it. One things for certain though she can't seem to control it. And Ricky well he just wants to show her they can be together despite everything if she would just give them a chance. There are so many obstacles Vic herself being on of the biggest. But there will be plenty of lighthearted and fun moments to, if you haven't met the Chickens yet you are in for a real treat. Otherwise known as Anna, Kayla, Pandora and of course Victoria. Did you know Cow Cuddling was a thing? I didn't, so reading this book I learned something new as well. Seriously though I can not wait for book 3 By Fate I already know it will be amazing. 💙🐤🐄
Vic and Ricky are the couple that just isn't supposed to work, she's corporate, structured, follows the rules and builds walls around herself for protection, he's the up and coming rock star covered in tattoos that says ok when someone asks him to move, or change his persona, or not be in a relationship. In the beginning the romance was a firestorm, I'm still not sure who started what but it was fun and fiery to say the least.
They really shouldn't have worked together but they did, and it made for one great read. Victorias friends or the "hens" were the perfect group, the one all the women want to be part of and all the men want to date one of them, they even supported Vics unusual lifestyle, at least in the beginning. You see Victoria is one of those rare women that doesn't want a relationship, marriage, or a family (or so we think) it seems perfectly normal to her to be dating multiple men and not really feeling a true connection with any of them
I for one was really happy to see Ricky sweep Vic off her feet, she needed someone to break down the walls she'd built and who better than Ricky.
While this was a lighthearted fun read there were some serious topics touched on, with her health issues and the trauma it caused for them, I'd honestly say the blending was perfect, you rooted for our main characters and when the unthinkable happens you feel for them and want them to have everything they dream of.
After reading this one I can't wait to go back and read the first and the rest of the series.
"By Mistake" was a sweet story that started with an accidental email sent to the wrong person. Liam and Anna begin their digital friendships through emails that read like letters at times. A lost art nowadays. Their witty banter and clever comments provide the sweet quirky start to a relationship. Anna and Liam share emails for a short time then FINALLY they meet or have they met before? One of the funny details is that Liam and Anna sign their emails with wicked funny sayings, that provide a lighthearted smile. Liam has his insane schedule as an ER Surgeon that is in the process of waiting to hear back about his application to the Doctors without Borders. Anna is in the process of getting a loan to purchase her own yoga studio, so neither are in the right mindset for a real relationship. Anna's friends are interesting and relatable. (everyone has that one friend...) To see their relationship grow and to witness the struggle the characters go through is intriguing. The writing style was charming with a well-developed plot. This is a stand-alone book in a series of novels, with Vicky and Ricky's story up next. I highly recommend this sweet read to anyone wanting a light romantic novel with the "fade to black" sex scenes - nothing explicit.
Thank you to NetGalley and Sigal Ehrlich for providing me with a digital ARC.
This is the second book I have read by this author but after reading the first book in the series, I could not wait to read this story about Victoria/Vicky who is the sister of the female lead, Annie in the first book. This series is called Poison and Wine, about a group of friends who hang out at a local bar with that name.
If you read the previous book you got to know Vicky and we get to see how she first meets Ricky. If you have not read it, don't worry, this book is also a stand alone and is centered on this cute couple.
Its a second chance at love, forbidden romance and a rockstar romance all in one book with lots of flirty banter, love at first sight (on Ricky's side) and a woman that does not want strings at all.
It is well written and at first I was not crazy about Vicky. She likes her freedom and is only committed to two things, her sister and her job. That is until Ricky... But....
Rockstar Ricky falls hard for her, but is a bit busy as he has just been discovered and is being offerered his dreams but they want him single. Can he get his shot at stardom and win Vicky's heart?
This was a really fun story and I love this series and group of friends. One thing they are is never boring.
I received a complimentary early release copy of this e-book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.
*Thank you to NetGalley, and Sigal Ehrlich, for this ARC in exchange for an honest review*
I am a big fan of Sigal Ehrlich. I have read all of her books and consider myself a groupie. This is the second book in the Poison and Wine series and is absolutely perfect. It is a little "raunchier" than "By Mistake", but I enjoyed less of the closed door romance between Victoria and Ricky. It was funny, sexy, and heartbreaking at times.
Victoria is a star at her company, poised to go all the way to the top. Ricky is a singer with a small band in Seattle. A relationship is the last thing on Victoria's list, but Ricky wants her as his girlfriend. When a music manager discovers a YouTube video of his band, she is determined to make him a star, but the rule is no relationships. Just when Ricky and Victoria are getting started, they must hide their relationship, which is fine with Victoria. until it isn't.
One wonderful thing about Ehrlich is the friendships she creates, particularly in this series. I am envious of the four chickens and their hilarious group texts and traditions. This story is so sweet, and I loved Ricky's character. He was so genuine. The third in the series is about Kayla and I can't wait!
I have to preface this review by saying I got the first book for free on Amazon and loved it so much that I purposely went out looking for the next book in the series. When I saw that it was available on NetGalley, I immediately snapped it up because I loved the friend group and the characters so much.
We met Vicky in the first book when her sister fell in love. She's a high powered executive who is constantly in rooms with mostly men. She has a enemies at work who are waiting for her to fail and she's very determined to stay on top. To not get entangled in relationships, she has a harem of men that she calls whenever she wants to hook up and the arrangement works for her until she meets Ricky who makes her question her stance on relationships.
I really related to Vicky and her determination in her job. Though I didn't really understand her disinterest in being in a relationship, I was able to relate to her and it was such an enjoyable read to see her and Ricky together. The main reason I came back to this book was because of her group of friends. They have the funniest group texts and are there for each other through everything and I love their dynamic.
I received an ARC via NetGalley for a honest review.
