The search for stories has taken Jeff Rennicke to many of the wildest places on five continents -- crawling into the dens of hibernating black bears in Colorado, hang gliding over North Carolina's Outer Banks, river rafting in China, exploring the Antarctic peninsula on a Russian research vessel, searching the canyons of Utah for hidden rock art, kayaking alone down the rivers of Alaska's Brooks Range, skiing through Minnesota's BWCAW at -30 degrees, and shooting the rapids of the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon by dory.

Those adventures and the perspective gained from a lifetime of travel enrich and inspire his award-winning writing, his popular motivational speeches, and pack his teaching and workshops with wit and insight.

He is the author of over 300 magazine articles for such publications as National Geographic Traveler, Backpacker, Reader's Digest, National Geographic Adventure, National Parks magazine and many others. His writing on destinations all over the world has twice been awarded Gold Medals for Excellence in the Lowell Thomas Travel Journalism competition sponsored by the Society of American Travel Writers and has been featured in anthologies such as Best Adventure Writing (Avalon Books).

Jeff Rennicke is also the author or co-author of ten books including Isle Royale (Winner of the prestigious "Director's Award" for best book on a national park), Jewels on the Water: Lake Superior’s Apostle Islands, and Treasures of Alaska: The Last Great American Wilderness published by the National Geographic Society.
As a storyteller, Jeff Rennicke has become a popular teacher at Conserve School, a unique environmentally-oriented college prep boarding school in Wisconsin’s northwoods. His stories and ability to inspire have also made him a popular workshop facilitator and motivational speaker. His programs to conferences and workshops all over the country are packed with stories of grizzly encounters, tales of shooting the rapids of wild rivers, and the human need for a connection with the natural world around us.
