A devoted artist... A shattered guardian... A library that helps them find each other again...
Lady Yvette Amani fell in love with Cassius the moment she laid eyes on him. Always the one to be over looked, he made her feel seen, beautiful even. So when she hears that he is accompanying her brother to bring her and her mother back to the castle, she couldn't be happier.
Sir Cassius Demarcus has mixed feelings about seeing Yvette again. Not only is she his best friend's younger sister, but he has been touched by the darkness of war. Now a full-fledged killer, Cassius is no longer the man that Yvette fell in love with.
After discovering they have been tasked with finding as much information as they can about the creature Ronan and Erec fought, they delve into the depths of the grand library at Jademore Keep. Down in the shadows between the endless shelves of books, Yvette is forced to find her bravery, and Cassius must decide if he will let Yvette see past the armor he has placed around his heart.
Nicole E. Tawney is a devoted wife to her husband, and a loving mother to her two dogs. Born and raised in Michigan, she enjoys walks in the country and spending the day at the lake. She discovered a love of reading at a young age and always wanted to tell stories that were able to stay with people, much like the ones that stayed with her. When she isn’t geeking out over fictional characters, she spends her time in church. Whether it’s on praise team or in writing, she longs to do what God has called her to, wanting only to share the stories that He has shared with her.
Under the Armor is definitely my favorite from this series. The romance was well developed, and there was great improvement in other aspects of the writing itself as well. The overall ARC deepens as the Elites find out more about the happenings beneath the mountain, uncovering a sinister plot that continues to drive the series forward. Cassius is by far the most likable male MC, and I enjoyed his journey as he battles the memories that haunt him. Yvette was sweet and kind and very relatable as a character. The ending did feel a bit rushed, but otherwise a great read.
Excited to see what the next book will bring.
Star Rating: 4.5 but rounding up is the bees knees ;)
There are more books coming. A good mix of action, emotions and romance without being gross or sexual. I love that Miss Tawney uses the name Almighty for God. I enjoyed these books a lot.
