又是一本绝无仅有的书。作者是罗斯福总统的国务卿,陪同总统参加了1945年2月在克里米亚半岛召开的雅尔塔会议。这本书是作者根据他本人的会议记录写作而成。

书的内容是第一手史料,是现场直击罗斯福、丘吉尔、斯大林三巨头开会协商的全过程,以及他们的重要幕僚人物在会议中的相关表现。

雅尔塔会议商定了联合国安全理事会投票机制,是联合国成立的起点。这是“二战后国际秩序”的开端,也是美、苏、英三个大国,求同存异,为了世界和平而妥协协商的折冲樽俎现场。
