3.5**** This second half wasn't as engaging as the first. It took me awhile to get through it. The ending was exciting, but it just didn't pack the same punch. BUT the art is phenomenal.

Hellbound est vraiment une super bd! J'ai beaucoup aimé le dessin et l'histoire. C'est une véritable dénonciation du fanatisme, du pouvoir de la vidéo et des opinions qui valent paroles d'évangile. C'est aussi une dénonciation de la pensée facile et de l'endoctrinement.
Une bd pour réfléchir et se poser les bonnes questions.

Wow... This is my lowest rating on a book and really I feel lost about the ending. The storyline was all over the place and felt like it was written by a different person, from a different perspective... Not a fan of this book at all. The ending was rushed and unless there are further parts to come, this was a waste of my time.

Перший том «Поклику пекла» Йона Санхо й Чхве Ґюсока шокував своїми подіями, нещадністю сюжету та похмурою атмосферою. Однак другий том — викликав багато болю. Події, які розгортаються на сторінках продовження, вражають настільки, що важко стримати емоції.

Світ занурюється у ще глибший морок. Демонічні створіння продовжують з'являтися та забирати людей у "пекло", залишаючи за собою хвилю жаху та релігійної істерії. Суспільство ще більше розділяється: одні вірять у божественне покарання, інші намагаються протистояти подіям, які відбуваються. Тепер усім керує організація «Нова істина», яка приймає тих, хто почув поклик пекла, та організовує прямий показ у мережі процесії, як монстри знищують людину. Вони змушують рідню приречених спостерігати за цим наживо, щоб ті бачили, яким грішним був їхній член сім'ї. А якщо хтось приховує свій поклик, «Нова істина» використовує всі можливі засоби, щоб знайти його та викрити перед суспільством.

Але якщо в першому томі суспільство охопила паніка, то в другому воно стало майже смиренним під впливом «Нової істини». Люди більше не намагаються сильно боротися чи шукати пояснення, вони просто приймають новий порядок, живучи в постійному страху перед «божественним покаранням». Саме цей злам у суспільстві робить цей світ ще більш моторошним.

Детектива, який намагався розслідувати феномен загадкових смертей тепер немає, а історія змінює напрямок, переносячи нас у самісіньке серце секти «Нова істина» та її фанатичної системи. Фокус зміщується на абсолютно інших героїв — продюсера Пе Йондже та його дружину Сон Сохьон. Їхня історія змушує відчути справжній біль.

Другий том розширює масштаб історії, показуючи, як «Нова істина» перетворюється на наддержавну організацію з безмежним впливом. Проте є одне суттєве питання — ніхто не намагається дослідити саму природу цього феномена. А державних структур, як таких узагалі немає, адже вони наче під контролем тих самих релігійних фанатиків. Це створює відчуття, що сюжет уникає пояснень і залишає забагато відкритих питань. Крім того, фінал тому не приносить розкриття таємниць, а мені хотілося дізнатися, що це за такі створіння.

Найважчою частиною другого тому стала сюжетна лінія, пов'язана з немовлям Пе Йондже і Сон Сохьон. Це той момент, який просто руйнує емоційно. Читати ці сцени — майже фізично боляче. І хоча загалом сюжет другого тому особисто для мене є слабшим за попередній, цей аспект частково компенсує його недоліки.

На мою думку манхва «Поклик пекла» не потрібно ігнорувати. Вона змушує задуматися про найважливіші аспекти людської природи, про страх, віру та контроль. Надприродні створіння, які забирають людей у пекло, зміна головних героїв у кожному томі, емоційний аспект та гарний малюнок — усе це робить манхву для мене гарною серією, яка вартує уваги. А я пішов тепер дивитися екранізацію цієї манхви.

Soooo good. Such an important critic of society in general, but specifically korean society: fanatic religion, witch hunt on the internet and the lack of empathy for other people's tragedies. The show is as good as the book.

I will admit, like most of the other reviews, it isn't as good as the first. The art is still phenomenal, and I did find it interesting and still read it just as quick as the first, it just felt like it disconnected slightly with the first and felt like it was paced differently?

Des discours "religieux" (gourous?!) à la Far Cry 5, au moins, le début amorce bien!
Les passages où les bureaucrates cherchent des solutions/font de la politique m'ont un peu barbé. Aussi, certains moments sont clairement lents pour moi...
Cela manque de "personnages forts" (de caractère). C'est plus ou moins la même chose que American Nightmare. Voilà le synopsis était bien pensé au début: La damnation, la mise à mort par "les démons", annoncée à une horaire extrêmement précise pour bien faire flipper le pékin. Quelques retournements de situations, du drama... Mais à mon avis les auteurs n'ont pas trop su se renouveler, du moins n'ont-ils pas rajoutés grand-chose de plus au tome1...
A lire si vous avez aimés le T1 mais ça donne pas trop envie de continuer vers le 3.
Peut-être l'adaptation Netflix est meilleure !! Car les scènes d'actions avec les démons sont badass.

PS: C'est vrai qu'il y a quelques nouveautés et scénarios originaux mais je les ais trouvés plutôt light et n'y ai pas été très sensible.

Storia 4 stelle belle piene.

Riprende da dove abbiamo chiuso il primo volume, con un piccolo salto temporale.

La narrazione rimane ottima, incalzante e riesce a racchiudere quasi tutto e bene in questo secondo e ultimo volume.

Comprato quasi per caso, ne esco davvero stupito; religione, sette, caso, caos, libero arbitrio.

Elementi non banali, che vengono tutti toccati in un modo davvero gradevole e mai pesante.

L'unico mistero (se così vogliamo definirlo) non "risolto" è anche il più grande. Ma va bene così, 2 volumi consigliatissimi!

Alla fine si è quasi rammaricati si sia voluto chiudere il tutto 2 volumi, si sarebbe potuto approfondire ogni sfumatura e ogni elemento del mondo creato da Yeon Sang-Ho

Peccato per i disegni che proprio non riesco a farmeli piacere, fanno abbassare il voto generale a 3 stelle

I had to get volume 2 as soon as I finished the first one. Luckily, my local library had a copy on the shelves! The second volume picks up a few years after the events of vol. 1. We are introduced to several new characters & there are a few returning characters. I think that some readers may find the lack of a concrete resolution at the end frustrating, but it fits with one of the overarching themes of the book. For me it was a satisfying conclusion & I am really looking forward to checking out the series. Both volumes had a real cinematic feeling to them, with the way that the panels were laid out & the pacing of the story. It def played out in my mind like an extended film. There was a nice nod in this one to the iconic hallway fight scene in Oldboy.

Aqui convergen 2 historias
Por un lado la pelea entre el grupo religioso Nueva Verdad ( con su nueva lider) y un grupo llamado Sodo(liderados por la abogada del libro 1, y que medio trata de ayudar gente, en lo que se les ocurre como minimizar la influencia del culto)

Por otro lado, una profecia de que cierta persona va a ser igual enviada al infierno por los mosntruos, pero puees que esa persona sea pues podria causar problemas con lo que ha ido diciendo el culto de Nueva Verdad.

Si esta emocionante, y es interesante ver las maromas de justificaciones que luego se avientan distintas personas.

Pero el final fue si un tanto de , pues pasa esto, y luego asi, y pues ya. Un tanto anticlimatico

Перша частина була мені не те, щоб ок, а друга стала ще, гм, "краще".

💀 Отже, пройшло ще кілька років в цьому дико-дивному світі, де привиди являються людям прєд свєтлі очі, аби повідомити точну дату смерті, включно із хвилинами. Сектанти логічно упрлсь остаточно настільки, що показують те, як демони розривають людей просто у прямому ефірі (бо всі ж знають, коли це станеться). Вимагаючи, звісно, перед цим покаятися, бо демони приходять же тільки за грішниками.

😈 Знову таки логічно, що нарешті знаходиться ще хтось, хто не вірить в цю сектанську єбудєнь, бо одного разу привид прийшов до немовляти віком в пару днів і це таки змусило замислися, що за хуйня взагалі відбувається.

😐 Зрештою виявляється, що — ви не повірите! — приреченого таки можна відбити в демонів! Алілуйя! На цій світло-пафосній ноті другий том (сподіваюсь він останній) закінчується.

🪶 Не знаю, що могло б врятувати цю історію. Дрібка логіки? На полкіло менше пафосу на кожній сторінці? Бодай якійсь твіст? (ні, викриття особи головного антагоніста сектантів таким на твіст не тягне, це читалося з перших же сторінок).

#️⃣ Поставила три зірочки з п'яти, бо відчуваю, що щось не відчуваю, і насправді все не настільки погано, як мені здається, просто, як то кажуть "книга не моя".

While I also enjoyed the volume - superb artwork, great story - I also in the meantime watched the Netflix series, and there are two things to note: first, the manga was produced after the the series, and thus follows the script very closely; second, and this is likely an unfortunate side-effect of the first, there are "gaps" in the storytelling in the manga that were made explicit in the series, which led to my having some confusion at times while reading before seeing the corresponding episodes. As such, I actually found the series to be more enjoyable and comprehensible overall, and don't feel that the manga version can fully substitute or stand alone without it.

A fantastic 2nd part of a great story.

We start by understanding the consequences of the events that ended the 1st volume. The world changed and new characters are introduced.

There is a new sub-plot that complements the main plot.

We see how the world has changed and how everyone is dealing with this new phenomenon.

The story ends in a good note but it clearly had legs to keep going.

The art is fabulous and in certain parts you think you are looking at photos, and not drawings.

Excellent. The story has a way of really capturing the terror that is mass hysteria and the horror of mob mentality. Despite the fact that there are demonic figures that are coming to murder people at times, it's the people and the mobs and the fanatics that are truly terrifying. Probably has something to do with the state of the world right now where those feel like a more real possibility. But I found both volumes exceptional. I do think the first novel was a little bit better and the ending of this one was vague, but both volumes combined make for an extremely captivating story.

L'ho trovata una lettura abbastanza inutile, e mi ha fatto anche arrabbiare il fatto che non abbia né capo né coda perché ti ritrovi in mezzo a una storia che non si sa come sia iniziata, non sai perché si sta svolgendo in quel determinato modo, e soprattutto, non lo saprai mai perché ti lascia con molte più domande di quelle che ti ha lasciato il volume 1.
Ci posso trovare un qualsiasi senso filosofico per farmela andare bene, ma sinceramente non voglio farmela andare bene come lettura!
Non si può creare un mondo soprannaturale senza dare nessuna base o risposta al lettore

Розвиток подій першого тома, де через кілька років культ караючого бога став наддержавною організацією з величезним впливом та можливостями. Але оскільки саму природу свого “бога” вони не знають, то він їм підготував, скажімо так, ніж у псіну. Додаткова драма серії не завадила, цей том вже читати цікавіше. Та все ж бісить загальна сюжетна недомовка, бо так ніхто нічого не пояснив. За відчуттями, ніхто і не збирався, бо умовні державні структури у цьому сюжеті самоусунулися, ніхто оту катастрофу, що спіткала людство, не досліджував.

I prefer this over the first volume.

Why? Because I finally "got" it--this story is about the human behaviour and not the mythical monster element--that's just the setup.

It's about how humans react to something they don't understand but try to interpret through their religious & cultish ideology.

While I enjoy this execution over the first volume, Hellbound 2 suffers from the same weaknesses as its predecessor: long, drawn-out scenes with bland dialogue and weak characterization. Still, the premise and execution is cool.

Well, there is still some unsettlingly large questions gallu g open at the end (will there be a 3rd volume??), but this second volume was even better as it picks up 5 years later in a world gone mad (no, not too much unlike our own). A high tension, stimulating, thriller in a fight against rampant spiritual abuse and manipulation gone viral.

I hear there’s a Netflix show. It’s hard to imagine doing this justice…I’ll consider watching.

This two-volume series truly speaks of the current times. When things are unknown it is so easy to put faith in those who paint things as black and white, and when this becomes violent, I think it’s easy to lose sight of our humanity. But in the same way, this ending tells me that kindness and love saves the day. There may be some sacrifice, but it goes a long way ❤️ I want to try and remember that.

Je n'ai été entièrement convaincue par cette duologie,trop de questions restent sans réponse et je trouve ça dommage, je pense qu'il y avait matière a développer un peu plus ce principe de damnation. Psicologicamente e sociologicamente disturbante. Questo manwha che si scaglia sulla strumentalizzazione dell’opinione pubblica e in particolare sul fenomeno delle sette, del radicalismo e delle ideologie religiose è una macchina narrativa stupefacente, che tiene il lettore incollato alla pagina e con un’ansia che cresce tavola dopo tavola.

Yeon Sang-Ho (Author), Choi Gyu-Seok (Illustrator), Danny Lim (Translator) work "Hellbound Vol 2" is heavy on religion and God's fallibility by humans. New characters which are quickly delineated within the story and pacing is fast. The art work is very good.

This is for fans of the Vol. 1 and should be read sequentially to understand the world which has changed.
