The sins of those before us often lay the building blocks for the hurdles that appear in front of us.
Syrinada learns this lesson first hand as she faces the Naiad's Walk. This series of tests will determine if she is worthy of getting the powers that at a time, a siren was born with. Thanks to the actions of the women before her, this trial is put in place as a punishment by the witch covens.
Should she fail, she will never gain full access to the magic that lay dormant within.
Syrinada needs her power if she is going to stay alive but she doesn't want to leave Malachi, her brooding protector, behind. He has just suffered a great loss, and she feels guilty. If she goes, she leaves Malachi to mourn alone, if she doesn't, they may both lose a lot more when the covens find them. What Syrinada doesn't realize is that by crossing the portal into the Naiad's Walk, she may ultimately crush the very person she is trying to save.
Will Syrinada be able to prove herself and gain her powers? Will Malachi survive without her?

Born and raised in Chicago, IL, writing has always been a passion for Jessica Cage. She dabbles in artistic creations of all sorts but at the end of the day, it's the pen that her hand itches to hold. Jessica had never considered following her dream to be a writer because she was told far too often "There is no money in writing." So she chose the path most often traveled. During pregnancy she asked herself an important question. How would she be able to inspire her unborn son to follow his dreams and reach for the stars, if she never had the guts to do it herself? Jessica decided to take a risk and unleash the plethora of characters and their crazy adventurous worlds that had previously existed only in her mind, into the realm of readers. She did this with hopes to inspire not only her son but herself. Inviting the world to tag along on her journey to become the writer she has always wanted to be. She hopes to continue writing and bringing her signature Caged Fantasies to readers everywhere.
A tad bit smoother and better than book 1. There are some things that I didn't care for, but overall, I enjoyed it.
The first part of the book was devastating, to say the least, and completely unexpected. Im not sure still how I feel about it, but I still want to read the rest of the series.
I love the lore that the author has created, and the magic is so intriguing. Sometimes, I felt that when different types of magic were used, it shifted too quickly without much of an explanation.
The issue I really had with the book has to be the steamy scenes. I didn't feel the angst or tension or want between the characters. I wanted a bit more of the lust filled craze and the spiciness that book 1 had.
Sys powers are the best part of the story so far! I can't wait to see her dive into it more as the story goes on.
This book (and series thus far) could easily be above a 4 star star rating if the editing was better. There are many grammatical errors: misspellings and weird sentence structures.
The storyline is also fractured at times. For example *SPOILER*, when Syrinada goes with her father and she is still unsure about how long she wants to stay, she meets Rhys and immediately starts training (day 1). Then, the next paragraph states that she is finally getting used to the training sessions. How long has she been there to have sessions? (That was answered) But there are multiple instances of a sudden scene change or slightly major time lapse happening in the very next paragraph without any lead in. It is very confusing.
Aside from the grammatical and structural errors, the plot is extremely intriguing. The author is creative. The ideas for stories she comes up with are great. Her execution in telling those stories needs work. The errors in this second book are actually worse than the first.
I am going to finish this series because I am invested in the storyline and the characters. The author has done a good job with the development of the main character, Syrinada. The supporting characters are well developed, and their emotions are authentic.
I want to read more from this author, but after this series, it might be a minute before I pick up more of her work. While this storyline is great, it is taking a lot of focus to push through and look past the poor editing. Because there are so many errors. Not enough to make me not know what's going on, but still.
I will reiterate that I love this story.

Completely disappointed in this book. The first one was good that I couldn’t put it down. This book just dragged on and on. I am completely over it. At Sy got her stone, met her father she thought was dead and now has magical powers even more. Yay! But the sex scenes were nearly as steamy as first book. There was barely a love interest since one of the brothers died. Which happened in the prologue. Oh and the the fact that 60% of the book I didn’t realize was the test cause it wasn’t clearly stated and on how they would be presented. Completely annoyed I skipped to the end of the book just to find out the ending. Which wasn’t even all that exciting. Sadly not sure I’d read the 3rd book.

Sy was tested in every way possible in this book. The testing to face her feelings for the brothers, the testing to get her stone, the testing to fight or give up, and the testing of family. She really took her lumps but she persevered. I don’t agree with her choice in companionship because he wasn’t alpha at all to me. Overall this is still a great read. On to book 3!
But, I didn’t know I was this obsessed with black mermaids and magic until now. The adventure that awaits is a rollercoaster, making book 2 a bit smoother of a read. My only caveat is, sometimes scenes where a new type of magic is,introduced shift so swiftly you don’t know what happened, so then you to have reread and the scenes sometimes kind of time travel.
⚠️: This is Book 2 within the Siren Series, run to read Book 1 first or nothing will make sense. The cliffhangers are cliffing and hanging lol.
📚: What if: you were put through an ultimate round of tests to prove yourself, if you proved yourself through various trials just to be placed on trial again and again, your biggest threat was your family, would you be able to make it through, would you be able to hurt those that you love, will you ever be able to find a mate even being a hybrid?
Syrinada needs to go on a path to come into her powers but she does not want to leave Malachi behind because he is in pain. Things get real interesting in this book and it kept me on the edge of my seat.
I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book. This is book 2 in the Siren series by the author.
This series is so good and so seamless, I swear I missed going from book 1 to book 2!! Quick pause then on to book 3. I love not knowing what is coming next. Her characters are authentically writing themselves in a unique story like nothing I have ever read. You think it it going one way but will continue to be surprised.
Tests is a mild word on what happens in this book. We have tragedy, love, betrayal, confusion and trust. What will become of Sy? Will she finish the test? Will she find love? All of this can she stay strong? Yes she can! It’s a must read!!
Great read. Lots of action and drama. And slightly emotional, not the menage read I was hopeful for. ( shame)......Although, it did have 1 brief menage scene. But that was it. .....ohh well, on to book 3 !
I am so absorbed in Syrinada's story. I loved this book and can't wait to read the next one. The action was spot on. The spice delivered. I am a fan. I love this series and can't wait to read more.
This is book 2 of the Sirens series and it was so good!!! So far the books are continuing with a steady storyline that makes it easy to follow and keeps you wanting more!!! Once again good job Jessica!!!
This story is a beautiful work of art. Honestly the world building and every aspect of the characters show the depth of thought and care the author has put into this series I honestly cant get enough.
So book 2 was not as exciting as book 1, not sure if this was setting up to be more especially since I just realized there are 4 books in this series. Seriously contemplating whether I should continue the series 🤔
This book held its own. Some things that occurred made me sad but I understood the choices made. Ultimately I really wish she could catch a break. Wishful thinking for the 3rd!
Yooooo..... I can't believe this. There's not much I can say without giving up some information that has to be read to understand. On to book 3 cause now I'm a little upset with Sy. Great book
Fabulous book! Even is Syrinada is pig headed and frustrating as all get out LOL. The world of covens and sirens is well laid out and the action is intense and believable. Good book!
