When her husband and son left to sell horses to the Nephite army, Rachel had no way of knowing that they had been captured and enslaved by the Lamanites. Now, nine years later, she is still watching from her window for two figures to trudge into view. She will never lose hope that they may someday return. Rachel's son, Jacob, has grown up as a slave in King Lamoni's hosehold, caring for the king's horses and spending his free time with his only friend, Shayla, who happens to be King Lamoni's daughter. Jacob longs to return home with his father, but as time passes, he begins to lose hope of ever seeing his mother again. Jacob has yet to find out. From assasination attempts to conversions, his life is turned upside-down as he tries to figure out where his loyalties lie and what he truly believes.
This book is an amazing story of action and drama. It made my heart warm just by reading it. It is short but sweet and a lovely tale woven with philosophy. It is a great read, you should read it too.
I liked this book. It is set in Book of Mormon times when Lamoni was the king of the Lamanites. A man and his son who are horse trainers and traders are found by some of King Lamoni's guards while they are traveling and are taken to King Lamoni. Ammon is in this story also. I hope that there is a sequel.
Young Jacob is a Nephite slave in the kingdom ruled by King Lamoni. When he and a Nephite prince named Ammon are thrown into prison together, a friendship starts that will change Jacob's life.
