At last, Rachel has come clean with her husband and her partner regarding her health, however, she did not tell them about the severe headaches and occasional loss of sight. She goes on the hunt for a serial killer in New Mexico who is exposing his victims over stones in the desert. It is difficult to find a link among them, and the ones pursued are dead-ends. Besides her work and health problems, Rachel has to face her grandmother's cancer and the fact that she has been told about Rachel's health. The story and the plot are really good and entertaining, and so much unexpected information is being told providing a rather good ending. The reason why I only rated this book with 4 stars is I found the question of Rachel's health and indecision in making it public - including to her daughter - too repetitive. I received a free copy of this book as a member of the author's ARC team, and this is my honest opinion.
I love dogs and am loosely acquainted with Chihuahua dogs. I never knew where they originally come from. Discovering in Her Last Fear that there is in Mexico a desert called the Chihuahua desert certainly solved a minor mystery for me, one I did not even realise I had. However, this desert also forms the background for another serious mystery by Blake Pierce as this is the location for two particularly horrible murders in which two young women got killed and their hearts cut out. Literally. And Rachel Gift gets to investigate. The plot is tense and not without a number of surprises, some pathos notwithstanding. Yet is spellbinding. Enjoy.
The story is progressing and I want certain outcomes to occur. I have ordered next book. The downside of Kindle seems to be editing and correcting mistakes like words missing. Not impressed with this aspect of “books”. Please have someone with a working knowledge of the English language and grammar edit these books correctly. I would be thoroughly upset should I have purchased this book or any book for a great deal of money and had so many inaccuracies. Thank you
I just love the stories. Blake Pierce sure can come up with some wild criminals and with such great characters. I only want to say that regrettably his editors would be fired. I am far from an expert, but it's sometimes difficult to read these amazing stories when there are so many grammar errors.
Rachel and Jack are sent to New Mexico to help the local FBI and local Police department solve the case of person who is taking women's hearts. It's a very suspenseful book 📚📖. It made me want to laugh 😃😂, and 😭. It was definitely good and it made me see Rachel as normal. Get this book it's turning out to be a good series 👍🏾.
This is the 4th book in the series. I have enjoyed the prior 3 books, this one not so much. There were too many improbable things that took a away from the case they were working one. In the end I enjoyed the book and am waiting for September for #5 in the series.
Again, Blake Pierce creates characters you want to get to know and follow their stories. However, the typographical errors and editing seem to get worse with each book. I still enjoy the story, but it's getting harder to stay engaged in it due to the poor editing.
I loved this series of books but, Just her suffering the secrets working putting her partner at risk really bothers me. But it's a great read a page turner for sure. And yes I will read the six and last book if this series thus far.
This author always pulls it off! Very much a criminals episode feel! Every book in every series Blake Pierce puts out ends with you wanting to read the next book!
3.5 stars I absolutely love this series and am flying through it. This book had so many mistakes that were missed in the editing process though and it was a bit frustrating.
The voice on this audiobook was close to porn like. Finally got past it &! I could listen to the story. Interesting mix between her detective work & her personal life.
