In the title story, a group of kidnap victims must survive being at the whims of a madman. But they can go free if they satisfy just one request. Will any of these prisoners be able to meet the demands of the Egg Man? Tales of the macabre and bizarre await in these pages. Strange artifacts from far away lands. Eccentric hotel owners with a demented sense for hospitality. Fantastic lands inhabited by brutal beasts. Aliens, Monsters, and Evil Men. Any manner of fearful creatures come to life in these tales.
Wow! OK! This is like a collection of my twisted, surreal, nightmares! Caleb writes really well, the stories flow brilliantly and hold the sense of dread and fear throughout! The title story Egg Man would make an awesome stand alone, it was completely bizarre, horrific and disturbing! I couldn't put it down! I also felt for the characters somewhat, especially 'Grandpa!' It made me feel uneasy reading it, but in the best possible way!
Little Martins Big World is another brilliantly fantastic "little" story. It started off like a typical high school bully story, then took a very unexpected and awesome twist! Chilling!
Patricia In The Belly Of The Whale.....this one was short but terrifying! I don't like flying anyway, and stories involving any sort of fear surrounding it or anything that might go wrong always leave me panicking! This was another good twist on that kind of story!!
This was my first experience of Calebs work and I am looking forward to reading more!! One to watch definitely! He would be perfect for any Godless fans!! 😁
Coming in at 257 pages, this collection has 9 stories. His style of writing leaves the reader wanting more, and it gives me a kind of nostalgia. There's a few stories in here that give off a kind of Twilight Zone feel and I was here for it. EGG MAN- Pick this book up for this story alone, it sounds weird but trust me!! Out of the 9 stories heres how I'd rate them: 1. Egg Man.................................. Fucking Good 2. A Nice Place For Dogs.................Pretty Good 3. Beyond The Last Stop............................Good 4. A Gift From The East................Fucking Good 5. Patricia In The Belly Of The Whale..........Okay 6. Rupie 1997-2003....A Damn Good Short Story 7. Little Martin's Big World...Pretty Fuckin Good 8. Both Sides Now...........................Pretty Good 9. Fog At The Edge Of The World..............Good
The stories in this book feel like they are pulled directly from my nightmares and daily paranoia. The fears the author touches on are relatable and hit too close to home, but incorporate a sense of wonder and fantasy to add a sense of surrealism. This collection of short stories touches not only on events that make your skin crawl, but themes and elements that are deeply human and relatable, making it enjoyable for all readers of fiction. This isn’t written exclusively for horror lovers, so I recommend it to thriller, suspense, and fantasy lovers alike.
