Gemma Davis has finally come to grips with her husband’s death but is reeling once again when she realizes that he left her a final gift. Already overwhelmed by the thought of raising their two sons alone, finding out that she has a baby on the way nearly sends her over the edge. She has her brother Owen and her friends in Cherry Blossom Point to lean on, but they have their own lives and responsibilities. When she meets her handsome neighbor, Patrick, and his sweet daughter, Zoe, she is relieved to find another single parent to bond with. But when their friendship starts to feel like something more, she can’t help but feel like she’s committing the ultimate betrayal…

Gayle Merrill has been forced to reinvent herself in a lot of ways over the past year, and it’s been great...mostly. She’s got a new man, a better relationship with her siblings, and a fresh outlook on life. But she never imagined that leaving her miserable marriage would cost her the business she’s worked so hard for. Now, with no choice but to pull herself up by her bootstraps and start again, she’ll see what she’s truly made of. She created a successful business once. Can she do it again, or is catching lightning in a bottle twice in one lifetime too much to ask?Jack Merrill isn’t perfect, but dang if he isn’t trying to be a better man...and a better father. In the past, he’d been so broken inside, he’d allowed his relationship with his son to crumble right before his very eyes. But now that he and his true love, Corinne, are back together, he feels invincible. This former soldier is ready to fight to get Wyatt back in his life, and he won’t stop until the battle is won.

Loved reading "A Head Start" book 4 of the Cherry Blossom Point series. Gemma is such a strong woman whose had been left to deal with her children and a new babu after life has dealt her a devasting blow. She has managed to rise above the sorrow and be there for her boys and make new friends. I am looking forward to reading about her new friend Patrick and his daughter Zoe. and whether there will be more than friendship at some point! I love the way Christine Gael manages to weave the rest of the family members into her series books, it's like visiting old friends. Can't wait to read book 5, "Starting Over", Sadie's story.

Gemma's story

This is Gemma's story, but as always, all of the siblings are included. A widow at thirty nine, Gemma is still deep in the grieving process when she finds out she's expecting a baby. One last gift from her deceased husband. Overwhelmed and struggling to both adjust and help her two boys adjust, she is thrown a lifeline by her neighbor Patrick, a single father himself if a precocious daughter. Sometimes people come into your life at just the right time.

Love this series, and the original Bluebird Bay series, so very much! Excellent read.

Raw emotion

If this book can be summed up with a word, it would be “emotion” and, when reading about Gemma, obviously, but also about Jack and Wyatt, I need to add “raw”.

Failures, stresses, joys, pains (both physical, and emotional), triumphs, loves… this book, again, has it in spades, for another amazing ride in the beauty of Maine.

4 Stars

4 stars for A Head Start (Cherry Blossom Point Book 4). Like catching up with old friends. The Merrill sisters are all busy with new businesses. Owen's sister, Gemma, finds out her late husband left her one last gift. Jack is learning to work through his grief and let go of the blame and anger he feels.

A captivating and loving adventure from Maine

I have been captured by the living relationships of the characters in these books. They struggle and work thru tough situations and reveal deep truths that can apply to readers as well as the book's characters. I grew to care about each one! The series is also an unembarrassed love affair with the state of Maine!

In this book by Christine Gael, Gemma had alot on her plate after her husband was killed. Then she found out that she was pregnant. Wyatt is in an accident. I love the way Jack reacts to the new stress in his life. I love this series.

I really enjoy reading these books -- they're about life as it hits us. I started with the Bluebird Bay series and then went to Cherry Blossom Point and then read both as the books are released. I love the way the characters and families are interwoven. Looking forward to the next books.

Great continuing story

I love that this book is continuing the story started in Bluebird Bay. I'm kinda disappointed that Anna wasn't there for the new restaurant opening. I think Gemma and Patrick could be fun. Keep up the great work.
