Along with the rest of the Knights, Zag is tasked with freeing the country. He will go deep into the jungles, war torn cities and concrete bunkers on his many operations. Will he be able to complete all the missions?

Outside, in the real world, Eric is becoming a new man. The game has impacts on him that he's just starting to discover, affecting his mind and body.

Born and raised in the granite state of New Hampshire, Troy is a lifelong and avid reader of comic books and novels (mostly in the fantasy, sci-fi and adventure/thriller genres). The ongoing serial storytelling methods of comic books and television has always fascinated him and provided inspiration for his writing. He’s always had a love of creating and world building and dreams of someday seeing his creations expressed across all media: books, comic books, movies, TV and even toys.

When not writing, Troy can be found outside hiking, kayaking or out back at the bonfire with beer in hand. Don’t expect to bother him during football season, especially when the Patriots are playing.

I read book 1 of Battlegrounds Online and enjoyed it, so when book 2 dropped, I started reading.

Let me start by saying this book probably isn't for everyone. There are soldiers, people dying, and weapons galore. I enjoyed it, but I'm a big fan of military sci-fi and this isn't that far removed from that genre.

Zag (which is his online handle. I don't remember his real name) is the MC who's with the Knights, the good guys. He's training as a commando, and while his skills are leveling up, it takes one and a half book before he gets his first skill to level 1.

The Knights (think GI Joe) are fighting against Wyvern (think Cobra) as they try to repel Wyvern's operations from taking over a Central American country. I thought it was Panama, but it could have been Nicaragua or just made up.

As he's going on missions with his team, Zag is also noticing improvements outside the game. He starts running, and changes his diet to be healthier. At this point the book feels a lot like the Level Up books by Dan Sugralinov. Zag's old gamer friends are wondering why he's doing all this stuff.

I won't spoil what happens after that, but it's interesting.

Before I give my rating, I will say that the author has a very dry writing style. He writes in short, direct sentences, which works well for a series of this kind. The descriptions are well done, and except for the final scene (which lost me a bit near the end), I could easily imagine all the areas where the missions take place.

The editing is solid, and I only noticed a few errors. Certainly nothing big enough to pull me out of the story.

The notifications are all in game. There isn't any snark, which I was thankful for. Snark has it's place, but it's getting overused (IMO) a bit.

Overall, I really enjoyed this. Solid action, good pacing and a few odd things adds up to a fine LitRPG novel.

Better than any real shooter game

So the story continues in our very realistic litrpg take on games like call of duty where as in this series unlike games such as that you have interesting characters with depth and similar interesting storylines versus what call of duty really is. Point and shoot rinse and repeat.

I will say troys books pacing is not to fast or to slow but some people may not like it's slower based approach. My advice stick with it as it's worth it.

I guessed where plot stories where going as there is real life plots and game plots and by the end they link up. I loved this book.

The GI Joe meets Call of Duty game world where your skills in game affect you in the real world. Amazing concept and interesting characters a and settings where the lines start to blur. highly recommend for people who enjoy FPS games and litrpgs. Cannot wait for entry 3! we need more LitFPS novels!

Not my preferred game type but enjoyable read

Glad the real world story line kicked in. These are well written, interesting books. I'll keep reading despite not being a war game fan

Second one just like the first.

Pretty much everything I said in the first review still holds true. This is just more of the same and I am fine with that.

Great job building on what the first book started, the story flows quickly, looking forward to the next book. One.
