Denji’s gotten too famous! After a news program broadcasts Chainsaw Man’s heroics, the whole world now wants in on the action! Can Denji’s new protection detail keep him safe from all the talented assassins that have assembled in Japan to take him down?!
This volume felt a bit messier than was probably intended, what with all the new characters that are being thrown into the mix, all with their own over the top power sets and quirks, but at least there was plenty of that sweet, sweet Power content.
This time everyone is after Denji for something he probably doesn't even understand. Being that his dumbass got plastered on TV in a fight now everyone is after him. So the agency decides it is time to protect him against these assassins but that might be a bit harder than they ever imagined.
While not as exciting or romantic as the last two volumes it is still a crazy ride. So many characters introduced and so many dying. The ending left me wanting SO MUCH MORE though. I can't wait to read the next one. Trying to read as slow as possible on Shonen Jump app so it doesn't end too quickly for me.
Now every demon hunter on the planet is hunting down Denji because of how rare his type is. The agency is protecting him... or are they using him as bait?
Lots of good action with some good twists and turns in this one.
Really am kinda obsessed with chainsaw man, it’s somehow better the 2nd time I’m reading it as well! That may be because I can binge whole volumes in one go rather than waiting for new chapters hmmm
When in doubt, dump in a truckload of new characters.
The Chainsaw Man is public knowledge now due to the events of last volume and governments from around the world are sending teams of assassins to kill and/or kidnap him. Along with a dozen assassins, we have a bunch of new and old people suddenly appear from Denji's team to help protect him. Frankly, it gets a little hard to keep everyone straight without a scorecard -- so many generic men in suits! At least the group of female assassins is colorful, though they spend a lot of time providing fan service with their several scenes of group sex before getting down to business.
Everything spills over into the next volume, so onward!
This volume felt a bit messy because of how many (seemingly) important characters were just thrown into the mix, but I know it's setup that will head towards great payoff. Quanxi, Yoshida and the skin-wearing brothers sure do make things interesting! Plus, Power and Denji's sibling dynamic never stops getting better.
After the epic showdown between the chainsaw devil and the bomb devil being broadcasted on the news all across the world, Denji is now a wanted man on a much wider scale. Everyone wants a piece of the chainsaw devil sleeping in his heart, as it may hold the key to achieving unmatchable power on the scale of nuclear weapons. Professional assassins and devil contractors are closing in on him while Makima seems to scheme mysterious ulterior motives from the shadows.
Great volume. It adds a lot of new mysteries behind the worldbuilding such as what happens when devils die and the last sound they hear while their down in Hell. Before being reincarnated into the human world, the last thing the devils remember hearing before being banished from Hell is the sound of a chainsaw. The cute little devil resting inside of Denji might not be as simple or innocent as it seems.
A lot of the comedy in this volume is genuinely hilarious, mostly revolving around Power and Kobeni. We also get introduced to a gang of shapeshifters that can steal peoples faces, a crazy grandpa that can turn people into human dolls and a gang of lesbian monster girls with a badass samurai woman leading the pack. Chainsaw Man excels at constantly introducing memorable unique characters with creative powers and awesome designs, even if a lot of them don't stick around for long.
"But yeah, not a fan of violence I am all about love and peace! Peace!"
Hahahaha!!!
(1) Aki, Denji and Power are so cute together!!! And Aki is looking after the two of them like a big brother!!! ^_^
(2) What is the deal with the Violence Fiend?
(3) I really like Denji's 'I'll kill anyone who gets in the way' attitude! ^_^
(4) I am a bit on the half-and-half side when it comes to those assassins from USA, USSR and China. (Yes, USSR is still a thing in this fictional world) I wonder why the author made this fictional world this way?
(5) When will we finally see more of the Gun Devil?
(6) Chainsaw Man is getting the media's attention! Hahaha!
(7) Previously, Denji was worrying himself sick about how to choose between two lovely ladies. My reaction is "oh, he is thinking about which girl to pick instead of keeping both girls at once, what a good boy."
(8) I quite like the new fiends and the new devil hunters from other countries!!!!! Totally look forward to more stories!!!
Wondering why this took me three days to read? I made the poor decision to try and get through CSM at work. What happened? I, of course, stumbled upon the lesbian orgy and closed out as quickly as possible. Thankfully, I was off-desk and there were no children around but dear god in heaven. My god.
In spite of my brief heart attack, this volume is saur good. I love the part in chapter 53 where Makima suggests a workplace vacation and Power goes “I have an urgent meeting that day”. To which Makima replies that she hasn’t even suggested a day. And then, four pages later, Power informs everyone she actually has a summer home on the island they’re planning to vacation to. Power is such a terrible person who lies unprovoked and she’s one of my favorite characters in all of fiction.
Anyways, as always, I love all the mayhem and violence and occasional soul crushing moments. CSM is just so special.
I had my stomach in tight knots. I dunno why, but these days I'm trusting Kishibe more than Makima. Really. Been wary against her since volume 1. I mean, just who the f is Makima really? Let's see how this turns out. I can't wait to see the mf ending!!! And so far, this is my favorite cover! It shows how intense the story had become, and how surrounded by the world, Denji is. Just, who the f is Pochita? Gah! AND DENJI'S DREAM! I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS LEFT UNANSWERED. I CAN'T WAIT TO GET THE ANSWERS.
Denji is such a crackhead and power's kind of growing on me. I found her a bit annoying at first, but she's funny. Also Yoshida just came in and hasn't done anything but kill a few people and smirk, but I am looking respectfully...
So much action! Denji is in some real danger here… So many different people are after him! Power is at her best in this volume, I adore her! Also, it slowly descends into some trippy-style body horror. Really excited to see where the series goes next!
From beginning Makima has appeared as one of the most shady/mysterious character in this series. I won't be surprised if she isn't human at this point.
