3.5 stars: I needed more :(
Reading Jenika Snow is always a treat, but I needed more at the end.
The book opens up with a scene that includes Arlo (Cold-Hearted Bastard 😍), Nikolai and Dmitry negotiating with Arlo to get rid of their toxic father. When it comes to horrible fathers, the brothers know what it’s like to have one. And so does Amara😒.
Amara’s (18) arranged to marry Nikolai (29) in order to bridge an alliance between the Cosa Nostra and the Bratva. She comes from a traditional Italian family with an abusive father and a very submissive mother who always justifies the wrongdoings of her father. Fortunately, getting married means she’ll get away from her abusive father. Unfortunately, she’ll be leaving her younger, vulnerable sister behind.
As soon as Nikolai makes the deal to marry Amara, he becomes invested. He sees her and wants her. So he does what any normal man does… he stalks her 👀
What I liked/loved: possible spoilers
—how OTT obsessed, JP, and PROTECTIVE Nikolai is👀! This man will do A👏🏻NY👏🏻THING for his woman 😍. This is true love right there 😭. Someone looks at her funny? Disrespects her? Gets too close to her? —back to the 🔥. As usual, JS delivers in the DIIIRTY talk and the tension 🥵. Oh LAWD. There’s so much of it 💦. But. We only got one full home run 😐. 😒. 😑. Hands happens in the 40 ish % but then we don’t see any cereal or gourd eating until in the 60% 😬 and the complete bases until 81% (and it’s the ONLY home run scene). But. The scenes we get are loooooong. Every. Detail. Is. On. Page 😅🥵😉
—Nikolai likes to eat a nutritious breakfast 😋. Love me a man that isn’t afraid of eating a hearty breakfast 😮💨🥵

What I needed more of:
—full 🔥. Listen. I know this isn’t a priority for many people. But man… I was feeling the bangxiety in this one 😭😭😭.
—a proper ending. The ending was rushed! We get a sort-of epilogue after the end of the book, but it ends so abruptly (for me). Then we get a chapter for the next book. Like… 🤔 what happened?? 😭😭😭 where’s my proper HEA 😩. Where are the babies I want them to have? 😭 lol I’m sure it’s like this because we’re going to get Dmitry and Claudia’s book and we’ll see them there, but stillllll 😐😭
—the twists/reveal at the end. After over 300 pages, this part could’ve been elaborated on more, but eh… oh well 😒. It is what it is. It’s all part of the “I need more” and “it ends abruptly”, so this is me just adding another bullet lol

I just finished cold hearted few days ago and was so pumped for Nikolai book since him and his brother are bat-crap crazy!!
Amara poor innocent she's tossed into a arranged marragie to bring both sides at peace. She's going to be the perfect wife her father says. She doesn't know much about her future hubs just that he's a psycho and cruel. Until she meets him he is crazy and cold but around her he's tiny bit different, he's overprotective, possessive and well kill anyone who touches a hair on her head. And that's what he does when his woman feels threatened. NIKOLAI that man I swear I was drooling all over him!! He also had a plan with his brother but it changed with Amara. The things he says to Amara I had to change my own panties because that mouth!! I'll be his dirty girl anyday 😏
They had great chemistry together he even took his time with her on their honeymoon. I can't wait for the other brother to have his story hopefully soon.

Not bad. The heroine annoyed me at times and it was kind of boring the first half of the book. I also hated how there were no povs from the hero in the second half. Also a good amount of grammar mistakes. Other than all of that, I liked the second half of the book and I liked their relationship dynamics. Imma need Dimitry to get a book though.

Estoy sorprendida y para bien, fue mejor de lo que creí.
Para ser un libro no tan largo, está bien contada la historia, bien escrito y tiene un buen desarrollo de personajes
Es de mafia y ya saben que es del género que más disfruto de los que más picky soy por lo tanto batallo para encontrar una buena historia.
Aunque está más centrado en el romance que en la mafia tiene un el trope más característico del género y es el matrimonio arreglado y en este caso sería entre la bratva y la cosa nostra.
Si volvería a leer otro libro de la autora y más de este mundo.
Para ser un libro no tan largo, está bien contada la historia, bien escrito y tiene un buen desarrollo de personajes
Es de mafia y ya saben que es del género que más disfruto de los que más picky soy por lo tanto batallo para encontrar una buena historia.
Aunque está más centrado en el romance que en la mafia tiene un el trope más característico del género y es el matrimonio arreglado y en este caso sería entre la bratva y la cosa nostra.

It was so fun to be back in the Underworld Kings Universe! I may have overdone it a bit in 2021 when all these books by different authors were coming out but it was a lot of fun to come back and with such a steamy novel!
This book has some of my favorite tropes: Age Gap, Arranged Marriage, Mafia, Alpha Male, and a few others. It is also a trademark Jenika Snow naughty book and has a lot of her spicy content that we all love. (You can find a list of these in her Content warnings.)
Our Amara has been raised to be chattel. She is a daughter of the Italian Mob and after barely coming of age, she is being married off to Nikolai Petrov, a sociopath in the Bratva, to form an alliance. She will have to leave her sister and brother behind and be an obedient wife and possession to him.
Nikolai catches a glimpse of his young bride-to-be and he cannot wait to taste her and teach her all the sinful things of his dreams. But he has bigger plans for Amara than just a docile, submissive wife. Sure, he wants her submissive in his bed, but only because she craves it.
This book read so fast! I gobbled it down. I wanted to protect Amara at all costs and when she is given to Nikolas... she doesn't know what to expect, but it is so much more than she ever expected for herself. I had a great time and read it all in one sitting.
The main reason this is 4 stars for me, and not more is that I felt like the fact that Amara is barely 18 is brought up a few too many times. I am honestly fine with a big age gap in Mafia romances. It's to be expected. But the number of times Nikolai pointed out being specifically turned on by her being "barely legal".... it was brought up 3 too many times.. I'm sure it was just sticking out to me, but I feel what I feel.
I am still very will to read any other books Ms. Snow writes in this universe. She lays the ground worl for another and I can't wait.

With Nicolai who was her fiance, and his horrific tales of murder and torture, she was convinced her life would be painful and humiliating. That is until she met her husband. A man as ruthless as he was pretty, and the only one she could see herself falling for. But there was no happy ending for her. Men like Nicolai didn't love their wives. She had only one purpose and that was to give him a family but that did not stop her from hoping for more.
Overall Opinion :
Jenika Snow honestly gives out the best heroes ever! Like they are truly so intimidating and hot as hell. I could just grab Nicolai from this book and keep him lmao. Their intensity is off the charts and that's what kept me hooked throughout this whole book.
This had a bit of typical mafia characters like a young, very innocent heroine and the big bad intense mafia hero who was to be married to her. like I said, even though it was a type of book I have read many times, the intensity of the characters kept me hooked and I loved it a lot! The suspense was good and now I want the stories of the side characters, I hope we get them soon!
Definitely recommending this one to all the mafia romance loving people out there. If hot and broody heroes and innocent heroines are your thing then don't hesitate to pick up this mafia standalone romance.

I bow down to you Jenika Snow for such a spicy and delicious story! We met Nikolai in Arlo's book and the glimpses we get of him lead the reader to believe he is going to be a crazy one. He does not disappoint. The man is a ruthless killer that holds onto his reputation and status with an iron fist. There are very few people he cares about and when he enters into an arranged marriage to bring two sides together, he sees it as a means to an end. Little does he know that when he sees his betrothed for the first time she becomes everything to him and he would do anything to keep her safe and ONLY his.
*Even kill a man for touching her hair (I'm here for it)*
Amara has been sheltered, pushed around and abused by her father for most of her life. She is young and naive but knows she wants more out of life then being locked away and constantly told to be the quiet, submissive and obedient woman. When her father tells her she is to marry, her immediate reaction is sorrow. Amara doesn't know that her life is about to change for the better and instead of being a pawn in her father's sick world, she will rise as a queen by her husband's side. Amara knows Nikolai's reputation but upon meeting him, she realizes that cruel crazy is only directed at everyone but her. He is overprotective, possessive and has specific kinks that call to her. Nikolai is dirty in the best way and I loved their interactions. I'm not one for meek heroines but Amara grew from the ashes of her life and I did end up liking her despite the fact that I wish she had been a little more fierce.
Overall, this was a well thought out story with steam, a little action and openings for future stories with other characters. I'm really enjoying this world that Snow is creating.

Arranged marriage mafia stories are my happy place and this was an enjoyable one. It wasn’t majorly angsty and was quite instalove which I’m not always a fan of but I found myself appreciating the simplistic aspect of this and it was refreshing to witness a couple both on the same page for once.
To solidify ties between the Bratva and Costa Nostra Amara Bianchi and Nikolai Petrox are to wed sight unseen. He’s a dark merciless killer whilst Amara is just eighteen and innocent.
From the instant, Nikolai lays eyes on his bride to be he’s entranced and vows to protect her from any harm including that by her own father. He also can’t wait to corrupt and dirty her up and he’s delighted when they seem to fit so well.
Amara was actually quite passive which wasn’t surprising considering her controlled upbringing. She was quite happy to allow her husband the reins and their physical connection because of this was hot as hades. I definitely adored the combination of the filth and praise and felt it struck just the right balance.
This was an easy simple read with little angst the romance itself wasn’t that dark these two liked it rather rough but their connection together was sweet if you discount the fact that Nikolai will take anyone apart who dares even look at his wife sideways. He doesn’t change and Amara accepts him for exactly who he is. This did feel authentic as this is the only life she’s ever known so to her it’s all relatively normal and Nikolai does treat her like his treasure.
If you like easy mafia-arranged marriage stories but like the darkness to be because of the world rather than the romance itself then this is the one for you. Nikolai treats Amara like a princess unless it’s time to get their freak on then she’s his little doll.

Nikolai had me swooning every time he’d lash out at men who hurt Amara. And then he was so sweet with her when they were alone! That juxtaposition between violent Bratva leader to protective and loving husband was just *chef’s kiss*

Felt like a Bound by honor ripoff by Cora Reilly. Didn't like the characters that much and not much mafia action is present except for a few pages in the beginning.
Also the drama that occured at 80% mark of the book seemed rushed and came literally out of nowhere.And the whole thing seemed cliche af with the heroine acting dumb and the hero whose only actions are being horny,killing mood and horny.Also,I think that man seemed like he needed a medical checkup with the amount of boners he kept getting just by looking at the heroine🥲.
The heroine didn't seem to have a backbone and the only time she wanted to show that she is a "queen" is by risking her life and going into a underground fighting club alone🤦♀️.Very thin line between being stupid and brave.Also she didn't speak for the majority of the book and I am supposed to believe the hero fell in love with her just by staring intensely at her or her saying very generic boring shit?Yeah sure.🙂
I also didn't feel much for the hero as he didn't seem to have much personality except for being 👏HORNY👏.

More of a 3.5 than 4
Two words.. *Praise kink*
That was literally the only thing I loved about this book.
I'm only disappointed at how short this was. Not just the book, but the entire story happens in a period of about 3 months. That's way too less for the amount of drama I was promised before reading.
One thing that irked me was Francesca and her story about Edoardo. Amara heard them having sex during her wedding reception, and she heard Francesca telling Edoardo "I love you" TWICE with no reply from him. And for Francesca to later reveal that she was actually being blackmailed by Edoardo since the very beginning. Ummmm..then why was she *screaming proclamations of love* during sex and *wailing* after she found out that Nikolai killed him?! Made zero sense there. 😑

Амара - 18 річна дівчинна, яка має одружитись за домовленістю, з чоловіком якого вона не знає, та й не бачила. Заради союзу між Коза Нострою і Братвою. Звісно вона не хоче цього, але вона змушена погодитись через жорстокість батька.
Все що вона може знайти на свого майбутньго чоловіка, це розмита інформація.
Ніко - 28 років. Йде на шлюб, щоб покращите становище Братви, та знайти сильного союзника.
Ну їх історія мені прям сподобалась. Дуже класно що такі владні, жорстокі та сильні чоловіки, не терплять насилля в сторону жінок. Перекреслюють шаблон, що мафіозі це завжди жорстокий , ненависний чоловік, який ні про кого не торбується.
Ніко показав що він гарний чоловік, і зробить все за ради дружини. Як він був з нею обережний з початку. Звісно їх перший секс трохи мене здивував, але ж то такий жанр.
Добре прописані стосунки між братами. Та Амарою та її братом, та сестрою. Як вона за них торбувалась, і довірилась Ніко, коли розповіла про те яким є її батько.
Доречі був момент, який схожий на однин з книг Кори Рейлі.❤️🩹

Reckless Heir was pure Jenika Snow goodness. I am obsessed with the Underworld Kings series and her stories in it. Nikolai and Amara were amazing! This was a quick and delicious read. I loved their connection and how protective he was of Amara! Now I can't jump on Ruin's book fast enough! 4.5 stars! ~Ratula

And Nikolai Petrov is the perfect alpha psycho boyfriend- a ruthless and terrifying mafioso manipulating his world just how he likes it for the power and legacy of his family….and this includes an arranged marriage with young and innocent Amara and a delicate truce with her family.
We’re made to fear Nikolai, but like the perfect Jenika Snow book hero, he softens for the sweet, trapped mafia princess. And she quickly becomes more than a pawn in his game- she becomes his whole world. And I melted completely- I loved how Nikolai now starts to bend the world in a way that protects his young wife, and his love allows sweet Amara to find power and peace for the first time ever- in the arms of a man who she thought was nothing more than a killer. Nikolai is just DELICIOUS in the way he dotes on and protects his young wife, and as always Jenika delivers a charismatic dirty talking than melted more than my heart….YUUMY!

This was very " soft" for Jenika Snow standards.
A traditional mafia romance with high touch her and you die " vibes ( literally...anyone touching Amara dies 👌😁) .
It can be readed as a standalone . I liked Nikolai but the story in 4# book ( his brother Dmitri and Claudia is way darker and more to my taste.
Regardless, this book is perfect if you want a mafia romance with not so many TW a d relatively quick to read

This was soooo boring!!!! Omg… we started off knowing nothing about Nikolai and ended knowing nothing about Nikolai. So what? He’s just the perfect husband? There was literally no conflict for a guy that’s supposed to be batshit and ruthless. Like c’mon now…

Their story was incredible, intense, dark, and delicious all rolled into one.
These two are brought together by an arranged marriage. He is evil and seemingly cruel. In the beginning I did not like Nikolai and how intense he was. Being in the mafia he had to be tough or he is weak. However, I loved that he did show a softer side while being with Amaya. Another favorite of mine! Never a dull moment!
