Zombie Dog #5

Murder Dog

Rate this book
Every rescue dog has an origin story. This is Murder's. But beware, reader. Murder lives in a world of horrific undead creatures and unconscionable monsters of men. He's been abducted by evil people. If he is to return home to his Mama, Angie Graves, the woman who rescued him and taught him to hunt zombies, then Murder will have to go through hell and walk a thousand miles. As he wanders south, his sordid history will seep into his present.

This is the story Angie will never know: Murder's past, his fight for survival, and the road that led to their fateful meeting on a lonely stretch of highway in the Colorado mountains.

I live in Houston, but I was raised in Lubbock, Texas. I’m an animal writer. It doesn’t matter if the animals I write about are zombie-hunting dogs, dinosaurs, or giant kaiju monsters, I’m interested in that area where animals and humans intersect. I’m especially curious about the mind meld that happens with working animals. This is my point of view for examining human nature, and why I enjoy writing these books so much.

My site says I’m a writer and an explorer. My wife and I are “often” travelers. Thanks to my work, I sometimes get the opportunity to visit extraordinary people in out-of-the-way places. In recent years I’ve explored parts of the Navajo Nation, Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, and I did a mesmerizing 20-state roadtrip with my supportive family. I’ve been to all but four states in the United States.

I live with two awesome kids (though one is having her own adventures in college), one amazing wife, and two white German Shepherds. Thank you for stopping by, and please check out one of my books. (They are all available from Amazon as paperbacks and e-books.) Since mid-2019, I’ve been donating twenty percent of my proceeds to charity. If you want to see where I donate, I update my donations via my newsletter.

Once again an amazing story about Murder! Heart wrenching in parts, this is not a story for the faint hearted but it is an absolutely amazing read! Brilliant ideas, excellent well thought out characters & overall a real pleasure! I do always enjoy this writers work & do strongly recommend! If you are a dog lover, be prepared for a sad, scary plot with some awful moments for Murder.

This is Murder's origin story and what a sad story it is. Most dogs would have died, but Murder has a drive in him to survive and survive he did. How? I think through sheer will, determination, and spite. Oh and his 2 legged mama, It's quite a sad story and very hard to read at times. Animal abuse of any kind makes me angry AF. There were times I had to stop reading for a few minutes because the story hurt my heart. This is not a light hearted read by any means so be prepared.

This was one of the author's "good" books in the series (see my other reviews to understand why I say that.). Well, that is until you get to the end!

First, let me say that this book is told from the dog's point of view. The story was interesting but there were more than a few inconsistencies.
1.) it was hard to tell sometimes what imprisonment Murder was in. One time it was the past and then without warning, it was when he disappeared in the last book.
2.) The Cormac just popped up way too often. It really was overkill and after Murder was dognapped the 3rd time, it became boring! .And how did he escape the fire and the dog maulings? He should have been dead the first time!
3.) The reunion between Angie and Murder (finally) was way too brief and was given any coverage. I think the entire reunion took up a scant half a page!!!

Still, I finished it and with a few tweaks, it could be an excellent book in the series (probably the best).

Kidnapped by wicked people, Murder searches for Angie and has a strong will that keeps him focused on finding the human he loves.

The story is written from the dog's point of view and is influential, complex, and will punch you in the gut with its graphic heart-wrenching plot.

‘Murder Dog’ is not for the faint-hearted due to the explicit subject matter. However, it is well written and a page-turner.

I hope it will bring awareness to the animal cruelty, so many dogs and other animals face daily.

Trying to reach home

Murder is trying to reach Angie and the reader follows him on his terrible journey home. He never gives upon his purpose and single mindedly searches for home and his person.

The horrors this poor dog had to endure, and sadly things like this actually happen. At least it has a happy ending

Best book in the series by far. My heart hurts for all that Murder has been through but it also soars knowing he has his Mama!

It took me ages to finish this; I was so afraid the dog would die. I put it aside and kept manufacturing excuses to delay the inevitable.
Not gonna lie, this was a hard read. So much pain and abuse the animals endured. I loved the other Murder books, and so I felt obligated to finish his saga.
