Emery may have survived the Culling, but now she’s on the run.
Forced to find her way in a world of magic behind the wards of New Orleans, Emery struggles to accept her newfound identity as a witch and a mother. Her coven is demanding that she choose between the magic she’s always wanted and the child she already loves. Will Emery find the strength to fight for what matters most?
Devastated by the loss of trust in his mate and seeking revenge, Augustine throws himself into the hunt for a murderer within his kingdom. Emery remains his primary suspect, even though there is a side of him that longs for the woman who has captured his heart.
War is brewing in the supernatural world, and a long forgotten prophecy is at play. Can Augustine and Emery overcome the secrets that have torn them apart, and reconcile their past before the future catches up with them?
"There was only them. Mates. Intended. Forever." I first started reading romance novels because, after some nasty stuff went down in my life, I wanted to feel. This book exemplifies why I read romance novels. This is it. It broke me last night. I can't remember the last time I cried this hard, and it was a mix of sadness and happiness I, myself, can't fully understand. What's important to me is always how a book makes me feel when I reach 'The End'. I desperately want this review to do this book justice. I'll do my best.
If K.M. Rives is a new author to you, get the first book (it's on sale today, Oct. 20), and then this one. It's paranormal romance, with vampires, witches, and werewolves, but it's SO much more that that.
If you've read the first book, you know this is the continuation of Emory and August's story.
"Every part of her life seemed to begin and end with him." I kind of hated August at the end of book one. I was mad at him for letting others guide his decisions, for not doing what he should clearly be doing. August here is so much more than a vampire prince. He's fragmented, split, and torn between his love for Emory and her supposed betrayal. I found it interesting that he's portrayed as two different beings residing in one body - as we all are, I suppose - one light, and one dark. His character had a lot of depth, and halfway through the book I was in love with him all over again.
"She breathed him in as if he was her last fucking breath, and he'd give her all of his if it meant she wouldn't let go." Emory is the stuff of my heroine dreams. She's both vulnerable and strong, she doesn't take anything lying down, and she's a fighter. I was afraid she'd be more pliant in this book, bearing in mind what's she's been through and her circumstances, but I'm so happy she's not. You can't help but love her, and want to be her at times. She owns everything she is, and she loves with everything she has.
"I've always been yours. Even when I hated you." It's hard to describe their relationship without spoiling anything. From the previous book, we know they're mates, they're supposed to be together. But the universe (or the stars) keeps throwing stuff at them, left and right, maybe to test how strong their bond is and how much it can take before it breaks, taking them with it. Some love is meant to last, though, and the universe better catch on.
"She was supposed to be his light, as he was her dark. Not because the stars said so, but because they were two halves of a whole." They have to deal with their feelings for each other, and Emory's magic. They have to handle August's light and dark sides, and he has to surmount it too to get to the other side, and Emory. They have to manage what's right for everyone, and what's right for the two of them. They have to give in to each other, and when they do... this is not just chemistry or a spark, it's a fire that comes from two people who truly are made for one another. I can honestly say I love them both, together, and they're an epic love story if there ever was one.
The secondary characters give the book even much depth, and I can't help but want each of them to find their own happy ending, and that I get to read about it, of course.
"You are my home more than any castle. More than any kingdom. You are my everything." This book is a journey through love, loss, finding friendship and family, forgiving, and giving in to something that's bigger than you. To the kind of love that really can overcome anything. I feel lucky and grateful to have been on this journey with Emory and August, and they became part of me. I'm not likely to forget this book any time soon.
Thank you, KM Rives, for your wonderful storytelling. I was bawling, and I have tears in my eyes writing this, but it was worth every tear shed.
What we have here folks is a conundrum. On the positive side, the story was unique and at times interesting. Also, there were some spectacular surprises through out. On the negative side, I began to not like August and I began to find Em's weakness for him to be aggravating. There comes a time when you are overlooked and talked down to enough that you just may need to find another pogo stick to jump on if you know what I mean 😮😂
After the amazing first book, I couldn’t help but see more of the story unfold. August/ine’s split personality was a little strange and unexpected. The drama was difficult to get through but I managed to finish because fated mate plots get me every time. I like that this was steamy.

Review: This was even better than the first book! There was more going on and a lot of things was solved! There was so much going on with the romance that I needed to know what was going to happen! It kept me on my toes! This was a perfect sequel that didn’t disappoint me !
This sequel to The Replacement is like the first book an unbelievable gripping and suspenseful dark story. It's even more action-packed and fascinating that the first part of the series.
I can't believe that this is the author's second book. It's so damn good and It's a dark gripping world with vampires, witches, werewolves and at the end even feas. It's incredible how the author has put so many creatures together in a fantasy world and created a world where they all coexist in an incredible and unique story.
This book is a fantasy romance, but it's nothing like the romances I've read before. This book is full of anxious energy, brutal emotions and constant fights between good and evil, but this story is also scorching hot. Yes, we're talking about hot alpha vampires and werewolves here, add to that stubborn witches and you have the picture 😏
I love the characters and I'm not only talking about the main characters. In this book have so many wonderful creatures that hopefully will have their own stories. No, this book don't end on a cliffhanger, but the story is not finished yet. The supernatural world is preparing for the war and the biggest challenge of all, to create a world were all creatures can live in freedom.
I don't want to spoil the story therefore I can't give you more, but this series is a must-read for all fantasy romance fans.
I can't wait to read the next book in the series ❤ 😍
The first book in the series, the Replacement, took my breath away and i was eager to put my teeth in the sequel, the Intended. The Intended take us deeper in to the characters, get to follow them as they grow and develops. And we get to know a lot of new characters (Hello wolfs 😍) Augustine makes my want to hit him with a chair sometimes in this book. When Emery is strugling with her new abilitys, he's goinig around with a growing 🍆 in every possible strange moment. 🙈
Emery stuggles trough the book, but her badass, emapty, intelligens and stubbornness takes her forward. One step at the time. You can't but love her.
This is the sequel to The Replacement and picks up just after it’s cliffhanger ending.
🌙 After enjoying the first book so much, I was really excited to get stuck into this sequel. However it sadly ended up being a real let down. I actually skimmed the last five chapters or so just to get it finished so I could move onto something else.
🍂 Emery is on the run from the vampires and hiding out with the witches in New Orleans. The coven cannot accept her relationship with the vampire heir and are shunning her, forcing Emery to conceal her pregnancy from them. Meanwhile August is on the hunt for his mate while also seeking revenge for her deception.
🌙 I really didn’t enjoy the August/ Augustine split personality conversations and I found myself starting to skim them.
☯️ The history of the vampires and witches didn’t make a lot of sense, and the introduction of a werewolf/ vampire hybrid wasn’t explained at all. Also literally every character seemed to be some form of royalty.
🔄 The constant back and forth started to annoy me with August and Emery. It got to the point where I did just want them to make a decision and stick with it and for the story to then progress. The middle of the book dragged on for far too long and added nothing to the plot.
🌳 While I did enjoy some of the new characters, there were just too many of them. Their backstories were not explained and the plot ended up being spread too thin.
🐈⬛ I was excited to read this but it was quite a disappointing read in the end. There were too many long sections where nothing really happened and it felt like the plot was being dragged out just for another cliffhanger ending before a third book.
This author has a major case of "it is so because I said so". - Emery and Ansel are BFFs ➡️ im sorry, who are you?? Ohhh, it is so because Rives says so - Malcolm and Lily are suddenly in love ➡️ Huh? Oh, it is so because Rives said -- I mean *coughs* mates *coughs*. Who needs character development when there's mates? - Dorian and Ansel are in loooove ➡️ I swear to God I stopped reading for a month to read TWoTQ and completely forgot who Dorian was. He had maybe 2 scenes? And now he's important? Oh and FAE! CANT FORGET THAT! Zodiac Academy who?? Rives has decreed it is so because! Does it add to the world building? What world biulding?!?! - Sloane is the mistress ➡️ oh ok, who would've thunk it - August/Augustine/Jekyll/Hyde ➡️ oooo this could be interesting. Wish it was better foreshadowed in book 1. *100 pages later* ah, yep, fumbled that, Rives. Emery's real power comes from her vay jj. You can't fool me! - And finally, the whole pregnancy trope gave me major ick. I'm usually apathetic to that trope; it doesn't bother me, but that ain't my book kink. But suddenly Emery and August are gonna be parents and *gasp* not only that but a hybrid?!
There are so many other books out there with similar tropes that are just executed way better. I've been in a book slump and I think this is rock bottom. About to start another Kathrine Ann Kingsley book and hope it brings me that sweet sweet serotonin✌️
Oh also! I now have major trust issues with GR. How is this so high rated??
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I was given an ARC of The Intended in exchange for an honest review.
I wanted to like The Intended. I really, really did. The premise is interesting. The author can clearly write well. It was just...so juvenile. I felt like I was reading YA with some spicy scenes thrown in. Everything felt one-dimensional, the characters went on long diatribes you really only see in fan fiction and poorly conceptualized books, and the plot had some glaring holes.
Will I read the third book? Probably not. Maybe, if I want to know how the story ends. But probably not. It was a struggle to get through this book, and I think my time is better spent elsewhere.
Remember back in March, when I posted my review of The Replacement, the first Culling of Blood and Magic novel by K.M. Rives, and I was SO MAD that this book ended on a fricking cliffhanger?
Then I spent the next 6 months bugging the author for information on if Augustine was going to get his head out of his ass and realize that Emery did what she had to do in order to survive and he HAD to forgive her, and I absolutely refused to have any warm and squishy feelings for Augustine until he made things right between them....
Cut to October when I get the ARC for the second novel, The Intended, and I'm salivating over Angry Augustine and all his alpha a-hole-ishness and having to shake my head at how much I enjoyed the tension and fighting between Emery and Augustine, which of course led to quite a few SMOKIN' HOT chapters that had my cheeks turning red. There's also this extremely sexy scene at a waterfall that had me fanning myself, and pretty much sealed my loyalty to Rives as one of the best paranormal romance authors I've read. The character development in Intended goes so deep, reading the thought process of each of the main characters is absolutely fascinating, and seeing what they do with all those emotions and thoughts to move forward ... I felt like I had gone on this dark yet transformative journey with them both.
The Intended brings back a lot of familiar characters, but also introduces us to some new ones and expounds on previous characters who maybe I hadn't really given too much thought to. There's a great potential coupling that I hope get their own story (hello, a spin off would be the PERFECT option for this couple), and Rives confirmed a novella for another couple that I never expected but can't wait to read. I can't wait for you all to fall for these other characters the way I have.
Additionally, there's an absolute bomb that Rives drops on readers near the end, that when the curtain is pulled back on this revelation, I literally screamed "I KNEW IT!", at like 3 in the morning, and startled my dog awake. I never saw it coming, and now I'm once again BEGGING for the third book to get released as early as humanly possible. Trust me, WE NEED THIS BOOK and in a hurry!
The Intended by KM Rives… I don’t even know what to say about this book other than it’s a masterpiece. I’ve read it twice now and even on second reading, it still got all up in my feels.
This book is the second in the series and picks up directly from where The Replacement left off, so that one definitely must be read first. They are not stand alone.
We follow Emery who has had to flee for her and her unborn child’s life and is hiding with the witches. Emery grows so much throughout this book.. she was great to begin with, but within this book she evolves into a totally kick ass heroine all round.
We also meet Augustine in this book, who is August’s darker, meaner half. After being so hurt in the first book, he is now fractured. This makes for such interesting dynamics reading. We get to see August internalising thoughts to Augustine and Augustine giving zero fucks. Despite his attitude, you can’t help but fall in love with Augustine just as much as you did with August in the first book. The character development and growth he shows is exemplary and a huge testament to Rives fantastic writing.
I don’t want to say a huge amount on the plot to avoid spoilers.. this book is a rollercoaster you should just strap into and go blindly for the ride. It’s absolutely outstanding in every way. The connection and the chemistry between Augustine and Emery is scorching, so much spice. The feels and emotions this book drew out of me including elation, heartbreak, excitement, nervousness.. it had my head spinning! There were some incredibly sad moments, that were handled beautifully, so incredibly written that not only did it help sooth my soul a little, it made me actually cry. Both times I read it too, despite knowing it was coming.
The rest of their crew is also so much fun to read and get to know… you can’t help but love them.
If you’re looking for a fully immersive paranormal series that has hot AF vampires, witches, werewolves.. a riveting outstanding plot that will have you feeling like your world just spun on its axis.. you found it. KM Rives is a world spinning genius. Read this series you won’t be disappointed.
Emery Montgomery is forced to flee after the fact that she is a witch is revealed to all. Desperate, pregnant, and confused, Emery must adjust to her new life in New Orleans, with a coven who had never taken interest in her before. With the very magic she’s always wanted right out of her grasp, Emery is forced to make a choice: the magic she’s always dreamed of having, or the life of her unborn child.
Crown Prince Augustine has come out to play, and he has a lot to be angry about. He’s reeling from the loss of his mate and the severity of her lies, plus there’s a murderer running about in his kingdom, killing off his subjects. Although he is mostly convinced that Emery is the murderer, there is a part of Augustine that still aches for her. And when he realizes that she is carrying his heir, he becomes even more conflicted.
Oh. My. Gosh. This is the second book in KM Rives’ “A Culling of Blood and Magic” series, and it did not disappoint!!! I really felt for Emery in this one. She’s lost the trust of the man she loves, and she’s just found out she’s carrying his child. She’s also forced to seek shelter with people who never really wanted her, and I think that would be extremely difficult for anyone. But Emery somehow manages to stay strong, fight for those she cares about, and blossom into a woman who knows her worth, and isn’t afraid to stand up for herself.
Augustine. Holy cow, do I have so many emotions about this man. He’s in a precarious situation, and he’s carrying the weight of an entire kingdom’s safety upon his shoulders. Plus, he’s still devastated by what he believes to be Emery’s betrayal. Augustine is brooding, growly, and possessive, and I am 100% here for it!!! I really admired how beautifully written his internal struggle was as he tried to decide whether or not he could place his faith and trust in Emery again.
I felt so many emotions reading this book that it gave me whiplash. I laughed, I cried, I wanted to scream at times. Rives might have actually destroyed me here. All in all, I’m obsessed with this brilliantly crafted world, and I cannot wait for the next book in the series!!!
THIS IS MY VERY FIRST ARC REVIEW AND I AM BOTH NERVOUS AND EXCITED SO BARE WITH ME!
First off, i want to thank @kmrivesauthor and BookFunnel for sending me this ARC! I am truly and beyond honored! ❤️
OHHH MY MOTHER FLIPPING GOD! WHAT THE HELL?! THAT ENDING!! I WAS DRINKING MY TEARS AND NEXT THING I KNEW I HAD ALREADY FINISHED 😩
If you haven’t read the first book i highly recommend you do! Now as for this one, this pulse racing headache, it left me in literal tears, i honestly had no clue what to expect, and everything i had in mind went out the window. Emery and August are back and they came packing a punch. I think they’re relationship is going to be one of my tops favorites. I honestly have no words, this is only book 2 and i was stopping every five minutes to contemplate what the hell was happening. Also, if you’ve seen the anime Rosario Vampire then August’s character will have you head over heals. Oh! And there was this one scene that reminded me a lot of Poppy and Casteel! I’m telling you, you will find a bit of everything in this series. There’s even mention of dark fae… HELLO! How could i not obsess over this!
If you love lovers to enemies, enemies to lovers, mate trope, found family trope, magic, supernatural creatures, murder mystery, forbidden romance, fate by stars, witty banter, sexual tension, delicious smut, praise kink, prophecies, conspiracy and my favorite trope (which i will keep to myself for spoiler reasons). This book has it all and more. I could not put it down, i mean i didn’t expect to go through it so fast but that’s how good it was 😩.
Miss Rives, we need to have a little chat over that bomb and plot twist you threw, of all things, THAT i wasn’t expecting 👀.
The Intended (A Culling of Blood and Magic) releases Oct/21.
Faced with the decision to choose between the magic she’s always wanted and her unborn child, Emery flees the coven to try and find where she fits. Find somewhere that she can safely raise her baby, away from those that would harm them.
August is still reeling from losing Emery. The little witch is alive, yes, but she lied to him. About who she is. About 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 she is. And August believes her to be the witch that is killing vampires en masse.
Will they ever be able to overcome their issues? To trust each other again before they ruin everything for everyone?
One word…wow. Just, wow. There is a hell of lot going on in this book! Everything that goes down with the coven, Emery trying to figure out her magic, Augustine fighting the mate bond at every step, all their collective losses, the vampire king’s total and utter douchebaggery, the mistress’s all encompassing insanity. Honestly it’s all go go go with revelations throughout!
Seeing August and Augustine try to mesh was amusing at times. They were each others’ snarkiest opposition. They disagreed on so much, including their view of Emery, but once Augustine finally accepted Emery as his, it. Was. Hot! Still not sure why he couldn’t have let her in on his plans though to be honest, rather than letting her suffer in her assumptions.
I was so worried it was going to be a truly evil cliffhanger but thankfully it’s not what I dreaded.
I’m looking forward to Flora and Draven’s book too but I can’t wait for The United. If Emery gets her magic under control, she has the potential to be the badassiest witch, or even supernatural, of them all!
Uffff I am OBSESSED with this book!! I loved The Replacement, but this truly blew me away!
“My light. My intended.”
After the MAJOR twist and cliffhanger in book 1, Emery finds herself on the run and hiding amongst witches who want nothing to do with her. But when an ancient prophecy comes into play, which side will she choose?
“I’ll embrace your darkness if you embrace mine.”
Meanwhile, the oh so sexy vampire prince Augustine is on a rampage. Reeling from Emory’s lies and deception, he throws himself into the hunt for a murderer who has been targeting his people. And to top it all off, war is brewing in the supernatural world.
This book had me feeling ALL the emotions!! It takes you on a journey through loss, heartache, found family, romance, and the spice is *chefs kiss*!
Just as the day met the night, starting and ending with spectacular arrays painted across the sky, they were meant to bleed together and be the spark of something incredible.
Emery is such a sassy badass witch, I loved seeing her grow. And ufff Augustine is smexy as always - he did have some moments, but his journey was incredible.
The fact that some of this is set in the Scottish Highlands and has some Gaelic obviously has no part in me loving it more…
Gu bràth nam chridhe. Gu bràth anns na veins agam. Gu bràth air mo bhilean. Forever in my heart. Forever in my veins. Forever on my lips.
Seriously though, I was bawling at the end of this book! K.M. Rives does not disappoint, and I REALLY need the next book!
Wooooo where do I start! This book was incredible. Such a variety of emotions! I wanted to yell, cry and smile…. sometimes in the same chapter! Emery and August/ine are an incredible couple and they really go through it. Nothing about their relationship is easy and seeing them overcome their own problems to be with each other is inspiring and heart warming. Emery really comes into her own both in her power as a witch and as a woman, and as much as I related to her in The Replacement I really felt like I understood her so much more in this book especially as a mother. She’s so strong and is willing to do anything she must for the sake of her baby. I’m a sucker for a ‘found family’ trope and this book nailed it on the head. The group of friends and family Emery gathers throughout the book really touches my cold heart lol and seeing each character evolve, and to experience their trials and tribulations was really beautiful. I absolutely love the witch Lilyana! This book is perfectly spicy, like.. perfect! And there are parts of this book that are truly gut wrenching.. Like heart dropping sad. But they always seemed to be followed closely by truly warm and loving moments.
Gu bràth nam chridhe Gu bràth nam fhuil Gu bràth air mo bhilean Forever in my heart Forever in my veins Forever on my lips
Words can not describe the level of my absolute fuxking book meltdowns I had while reading this book!
As much as I was losing it and in the most over dramatic fashion threatening to quit, it’s beyond epic and does “get fixed” ish 😅 *happy heart*
I was definitely feeling ragey and ready to punch a certain someone in the face to get their shit together! 😤
This book was absolutely freaking everything and I’m so mad I didn’t read it sooner!! OBSESSED!!!
Jesus this second book.....If it’s not on your tbr, it better be now, And if it’s way down on the list .. move that shit up. 😅
Fuxking hell. The smut... the magic.. the shit that’s happening... I was freaking out, I was angry, I was so freaking happy and the sexxxxxx 🥵🥵🥵 The plot twists, the damn story bombs at the end and alllll the fuckijg therories now!
I can’t believe how much happens in this book! It’s the epic PNR smut with amazing story I didn’t know I was missing so much. I’m obsessed!!!
This is the second of the series, and man it was chock full of obstacles for the main characters to overcome. I really loved a lot of the supporting characters that were introduced in this book. There was a good amount of plot lines that happened in this book, both to be wrapped up by the end of it and enough to have you want to read the next one to figure out what happens! Good thing the next one is out and ready to read 😘
Emery is hiding with the coven for not only her safety, but her unborn child’s. The coven doesn’t know that she is pregnant, and she’s not going to be able to hide it much longer. And she has a feeling their reaction isn’t going to be favorable since her baby daddy is a sworn enemy of the coven.
Augustine is on the warpath. His mate is a witch, and she lied to him. How is he going to be able to take her down as his sworn enemy when she is his mate? As if he didn’t have his hands full, vampires are dying all over the country and he can’t track down who is responsible. But his gut is telling him it is the witches.
A very different sequel to the first book, but just as good.
At first , I want to congratulate KM for August, the evolution of this character is for me, the best of the book. I had doubts, but I swallowed them.. he is my favorite character.
The story take a new turn , with interesting plot-twists.. reading a lot of books I was not surprised and expected it but it didnt spoil my fun and my read. The steam is very well written and very spicy. If you like that you will not be disappointed.
There are moments full of emotions, especially a scene in the middle of the book and the end scene which is one of the most beautiful scenes in the book .. I had tears in my eyes. I admit that I would have liked to find this level of emotions in other scenes of the book because it was absolutely perfect . I highly recommended this series and this new author full of promises.
Absolutely phenomenal, gut wrenching and everything I needed.
You know a book is good when the day you start reading it you finish it because you couldn’t put it down. K.M. Rives has achieved this amazingly in her writing.
I feel absolutely honoured to have been an Arc reader for this book so thank you for the opportunity K.M. Rives.
I am obsessed with everything about August and Emery, I love that nothing is simple and easy and they have to fight for what they want while they fight with themselves in the process. Their friends are unique in their own individual way that makes you want more to do with their stories and past too. This book had me dying a little on the inside along the way only for it to turn around and mend my heart as it went on. There were parts that were gut wrenching but were fixed within wholesome moments. It was beautiful reading as the characters grew from the hard moments that surrounded them to give them the possibility to enjoy and make the future better.
If you love vampires, witches and a hint of werewolves plus an amazing storyline please do yourself a favour and go and read the The Replacement and The Intended. They’re the books you never knew you needed until you read them.
This was amazing. I'm obsessed with the love story between Emery and August/Augustine! That man knows how to talk, mr smooth over here. Talk about spicy!🔥I loved this world and the supernaturals within it. Although I did see that plot twist a mile away but I didn't mind I still loved this book.
I definitely savored it and took my time reading this thinking it was the last book. Lately I keep reading books thinking they're duologies then finding out they're trilogys. Now I have to try to patiently wait for the next one! Lol
"I'll embrace your darkness, if you embrace mine."
I've read the first book back in 2022, rated it 5 stars and remember loving it but this was a huge disappointment unfortunately. I'm not sure if it's the book or me because I don't remember anything from the previous book so obviously the smart idea would have been doing a reread before diving into the sequel which I decided against.
The story was just so boring, repetitive and dragged on forever. I wanted to DNF it so badly but I have the rest of the series already on my Kindle so I might just give them a go. Maybe they charm me.
This series is amazing. The Intended picks up right where The Replacement ends. Book 2 is a wild ride and I love it! So much information comes to light and many of our questions from the first book are answered. I love Emery! She is a kick-ass heroine. Augustine is the alphahole we all love to hate(but not really). Definitely liked him so much more in Book 2 than when we are first introduced to him. I cannot wait for the next installment!!
In order to read this book, i had to take a step back and read the first one. It is a book that a reccomend, because the story is weel written. If you haven't read the book yet, read the first book , The Replacement... you won't regret it one bit. Well done !!! I really enjoyed the serie.
Every part of me loves the story of Augustine and Emery and I was thrilled to be a part of this ARC team. I enjoyed getting to know the characters in this book and look forward to the next one.
DNF at 45%. The first book was a 5⭐️ but this one just dragggggsss on and on. I literally can’t take it anymore. I’m calling quits on this series unfortunately
K.M. Rives and her marketing team, sent me a copy of her ARC in exchange for an honest review! . “To me it’s simple. The lies of our ancestors need to be brought to light. Our people’s deserve the right to decide the future with all the facts on the table. In addition, my child deserves a chance to live in a world where hybrids aren’t murdered for what they are. Monsters aren’t born, they are made.” -K.M. Rives. . Lawd, this book broke me. I think with every fantasy novel, there has to be those strong friendship ties, family ties and turf war world building. With brave, strong & vulnerable protagonists and this book has all that. This is book 2 to her Culling series and it did not disappoint once again. 👏🏽 We’re introduced to many new characters! Not only just vampires & witches. But werewolves and fae. The paranormal romance was up HIGH in this. Rives got real steamy and real smutty with the mate couples. . Quick synopsis: Emery is carrying August’s baby and has no place to go. She feels lost being stuck with a witch coven, where she doesn’t feel welcomed and August is on a witch hunt, wanting to kill every witch in his path, including his own mate. Shattered with betrayal, August goes through multiple personality disorder, split between two half’s of darkness and light. War is brewing though and people are feeling unrest. They’re tired of all the hatred and injustices happening between breeds. Can Emery and August re-kindle their love for one another? To save each other, their people and their baby? . I can’t wait for book 3! I’ll be buying a copy of this book. For my home shelf sometime.
Thumbs up for this amazing book! ۰ 🆁🅴🆅🅸🅴🆆 🌟 5 of 5 stars ۰ Miss Krista Rives, how do you make a book so bloody interesting and addictive? ۰ "The Intended: A Culling of Blood and Magic", book two of the steamy vampire/witch romance series by K. M. Rives broke my heart. As an avid reader of paranormal romance, I can promise you that you won't be disappointed by this one. It captured my attention from the first chapter and I found myself falling again into this world that the author has built. Krista's writing style has such a beautiful flow, it's steamy, fascinating, spicy, has a lot of emotions, some twists and a cliffhanger. I'm very much looking forward to the next book and seeing how it develops. ۰ 🖤🖤🖤 ᴄᴏᴠᴇʀ: 5/5 ᴡʀɪᴛɪɴɢ ꜱᴛʏʟᴇ: 4/5 ᴘʟᴏᴛ: 5/5 ꜱᴘᴄʏ: 4,5/5 ᴄʜᴀʀᴀᴄᴛᴇʀꜱ: 5/5 ᴇɴᴛᴇʀᴛᴀɪɴᴍᴇɴᴛ Qᴜᴏᴛɪᴇɴᴛ: 5/5 🖤🖤🖤 ۰ e-ARC provided by @kmrivesauthor in exchange for an honest review.
