I fell in love with historical romances and all things Regency—and especially all those dashing Regency heroes—while living in England, where I spent most of my time studying the Romantic poets, reading Jane Austen, and getting lost all over the English countryside.

When I read my first Regency romance in 2012, I was hooked and longed to create my own independent and spirited heroines and dashing heroes. The best part of writing historical romances is falling into history—to live in the world of Regency England through my characters, with dazzling balls, beautiful dresses, and gorgeous houses that I would otherwise never be able to experience. I love the period’s rich history and find that all those rules of etiquette and propriety can be worked to the heroine’s advantage…if she’s daring enough to seize her dreams.

In addition to earning my degrees in the U.S., I have studied theatre in London, Mexican history in Guadalajara, and Spanish in Ecuador. I am an avid traveler and have enjoyed visiting schools and volunteering with children's organizations in Peru, Ecuador, Thailand, and Mexico, and I have amassed thousands of photos I unleash on unsuspecting friends who dare to ask about my travels.

I love to be outdoors! I've been hiking in Alaska, the Andes, and the Alps, including one week spent dangling off the via ferrata in the Italian Dolomites, and I love whitewater rafting (when I don't fall in!). I earned my pilot’s license at Chicago Midway (To all the controllers in Chicago Center—I greatly apologize for every problem I caused for you and Southwest Airlines), and it is my dream to one-day fly in a hot-air balloon over Africa.

I adore all things chocolate, shamelessly dive into ice cream of any flavor, and guzzle Kona coffee by the gallon. A Doctor Who fanatic (everyone says my house is bigger on the inside), I am a terrible cook who hopes to one day use my oven for something other than shoe storage. When I'm not writing, I like to spend my time trying not to kill the innocent rose bushes in my garden.

Series: Capturing the Carlisles #6
Publication Date: 9/27/19
Number of Pages: 316

Goodness – can those Carlisle’s get any better? It is a good thing there aren’t many of them left without their HEA’s or the author would be hard-pressed to keep making them better and better. I really am sad to learn that the author doesn’t intend any more full-length novels in this series – but maybe a novella or two. I’d like to see some associated stories for those characters that we meet and like, but don’t hear from again – like Garrett Morgan.

In this suspenseful, action-packed book filled with mystery, intrigue, and romance we finally get the answer to the mystery that was left hanging in the series The Secret Life of Scoundrels. Again, we meet Nathaniel Grey, Along Came a Rogue, and he has been very busy since his book. He’s been hot on the trail of the traitor, knows who the traitor is, and now all he has to do is spring his trap. Well, it WAS all he had to do until someone got in his way.

Christopher (Kit) Carlisle has been searching for the man who savagely murdered his partner – and now he has him in his sights. That man, Garrett Morgan, will be in the pub tonight meeting French spies and Kit is going to catch him in the act. Kit arrives early to get the lay of the land, and eventually, a boy/young man comes sauntering in and sits down with the French. Has Garrett sent someone in his place? Apparently, because he isn’t in sight. Then, things go south and Kit ends up rescuing the young lad – only it isn’t a lad – and he recognizes the woman. It is Diana Morgan, daughter of General Thaddeus Morgan. (NOTE: we met Diana in As the Devil Dares). Is she working with her brother?

Diana’s brother, Garrett, has been kidnapped and she is required to pay the ransom which is a few pages from her father’s diary. Diana will do absolutely anything to protect her family – even dressing as a male and strolling into a tavern to deliver pages from her father’s papers to a kidnapper. When the kidnapper refuses the papers, things don’t go well and the kidnapper tries to harm her – only to be thwarted by – of all people – the scapegrace Christopher Carlisle.

Nobody in this book is who they appear to be and they are all filled with secrets and agendas. It is fun to figure out who is who and what their agendas are. There is a fun twist at the end and, of course, a lovely HEA.

I hope you’ll enjoy this book as much as I did!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

After the Spy Seduces by Anna Harrington is book 6 in the Capturing the Carlisles Series. This is the story of Diana Morgan and Christopher 'Kit' Carlisle. I have read (and Loved!) the previous books but felt you could make this a standalone book if you wish to do so.
Diana is out to help her family anyway she can which is why she is undercover as a boy trying to locate her brother and anything that can save him from being branded a Traitor. Kit really has no need to be anything more than what people think of him...a gambling, drinking and widower chaser. But what he covers is that he is one of the best spies for the Home Office. When he partner is killed he goes to find the person responsible for it which leads him on to search for Diana's brother. Neither at first trust the other but they need to work together to solve what is going on.
This was another great read by Ms. Harrington.

Kit has worked as a spy for the Home Office for a decade, recruited while serving in the military. After ten years, he doesn’t trust anyone and sees darkness and suspicion in everything / one around him. He wants revenge on Garrett Morgan, the man he believes killed his partner and best friend.

Diana Morgan is desperate to save her brother, whom she believes has been kidnapped. She is tricked into delivering secrets to the enemy when she is saved by Kit. In order to protect her, Kit decides to work with Diana to find her brother.

After the Spy Seduces is another enjoyable story in the Capturing the Carlisles series. This time around, there is plenty of intrigue and action as Kit and Diana work together to uncover the truth of what’s become of Garrett. I appreciate that the author allows the pair to reveal secrets and share truths early on, preventing the typical wedge to divide the pair. And major props to Ms. Harrington and her reveal at the midpoint of the book. I never saw it coming, and it was delightful!

The pair spends both high-adrenaline and quiet moments together, keeping them in close proximity and allowing their fondness to grow. They experience a bond neither has felt in the past, but are reluctant to act on anything because of his duty to the Homeland. However, danger and near-death experiences override their internal reservations and allow for a declaration of love.

After the Spy Seduces is an entertaining, romantic romp filled with plenty of action, adventure (spies!), and fun.

My Rating: B+ Liked It A Lot

In Anna Harrington's After the Spy Seduces, the last book in her much loved Capturing the Carlisle series, she bids farewell to this cast of characters with all the grace and fine writing her readers have come to expect from her!

Christopher Carlisle the Earl of Spalding was an irresistible hero. Labeled a rogue by society the reality was he was anything but that offering a compelling portrayal for readers. Christopher's position as a second son offered him very little options that fit who he was. His finding a way to overcome his limitations was creative and true to his characters resistance to convention.

Seen as aloof and standoffish Diana Morgan was considered a diamond of the first water by the ton, yet her best features of loyalty and protectiveness to the ones she loved were hidden to everyone but her inner circle. Diana was woman held to the constraints of her times and suffered immensely. Unlike many heroines in a similar situation she was wise in accepting her role in society even as she found ways to work around her situations in a socially acceptable manner.

In a nice change of pace this couple's pain and suffering due to their social circumstances was shown in such a way that they were not seen as victims or survivors but rather as capable and adaptive. An uncommonly steamy connection between Christopher and Diana paired with distinctive dialog kept this couple interesting throughout this work. Their instinctive insight into each other's true selves was touching to see play out.

This story had all the components of a great historical romance. Well researched this work still maintained both adventurous and romantic appeal with its steady flow of action, intrigue and intimate moments. Ms. Harrington knows how to create characters with a variety of traits that make them stand out and command readers attention. This writer is an expert at including subject matter that is currently socially relevant in her character's depictions yet remaining actual to the historical period she is depicting.

Anna Harrington once again guides another couple to happiness with gentle nudges and loving words in After the Spy Seduces.

Another brilliant book from Anna Harrington, whose imagination and storylines always capture me from page one. I have never read a story by her that did not deliver all the ingredients for a perfect historical romance and this one stays right up there as one of my favorites!
Who doesn't love a handsome spy, especially when his perfect setup to capture his villian is thwarted by a lad. Or is it?
Diana Morgan, daughter of General Thaddeus Morgan, is desperate to get back her brother who has been kidnapped. Responding to a missive to retrieve something of her father's and bring it to a pub, she dresses as a lad and marches in with the papers requested. What could go wrong?
Christoper (Kit) Carlisle is waiting to catch the man who murdered his partner to appear. It is Garrett Morgan, Diana's brother, who is suppose to be meeting up with some French spies and Kit will nab him!
When the kidnapper will not take the papers Diana has brought him and he tries to hurt her, Kit steps in. Of all people, that rogue Kit Carlisle!
Nobody is as they seem and Diana and Kit end up working together. Diana to prove her brother is innocent and Kit to nab him and get justice!
A tantalizing journey filled with intrigue, suspense, action and a romance sizzling along the way that will make it hard to believe when you look up and see it is 1:00 am! But you really don't care because you are going to read until the end!  I highly recommend this book and all in this series!

This is my 11th book by Anna Harrington. I read book 1 from Secret Life of Scoundrels series back in 2021 but didn't get any more of her books. I read so much that back then I didn't really buy expensive books so I didn't get anymore. Now, If I really like an author, I don't mind and now I can wait until Kindle Rewards Double Points day and eventually earn a free book out it.

So I picked her up again in August, 2024 with book 1 of her new series, Dukes of Darkness and loved it. So I went back and got the rest of the Secret Life of Scoundrels series and loved them. So here we are, with another series by her.

I really liked this story. I loved the espionage and suspense. I really liked Christopher and Diana. She was definitely different from how she was written in a past book. This has been a really good series. It don't often get to get read a whole series back to back so that was nice. Definitely recommend and look forward to more of her books.

After the Spy Seduces by Anna Harrington is Book #6, a her fascinating "Capturing the Carlisles" series and the conclusion of this wonderful series, but can be read as a stand alone.
Meet, Christopher (Kit) Carlisle, the Earl of Spalding and Diana Morgan and follow them on their journey of love, espionage, mystery,  danger, a traitor,  spies, and a HEA. Diana and Christopher (Kit) are definitely an unlikely pair.
Well written and well excuted.  The cast of characters are charming engaging and will capture your heart. The storyline is fast paced,  intriguing,  with an exciting and captivating hero and heroine.  AFTER THE SPY SEDUCES has everything a Historical romance reader enjoys to read about and more.
Once again Ms. Harrington has created a story that grabs the reader from page one to the last page and beyond.  She is a very talented storyteller.  A must read!!

*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

Christopher, aka Kit, leads a double life. On the outside he pretends to be a womanizer, scoundrel, and so very much more living up to the Carlisle name but this is all a front. Instead he is secretly a spy that goes against orders when is partner is murdered as he choosing to investigate after being told not to. During this he runs across Diana Morgan the sister of the man he believes is responsible. She is being played in this larger game though she has no clue when he steps in to save the day. Instead of staying away from her after that as he knows he should he finds himself drawn instead which puts them in some dicey situations as the whole thing plays out. Luckily they fall in love along the way despite attempts not to. A wonderful historical romance that gives you all the feels while adding enough suspense to keep it all moving as well as living up to the Carlisle legend fitting the series so well. A must read for fans of historical romance. I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.

Loved the two leads but it got a tad confusing with the spies and offices. War office. Foreign office. Secretary of War, Home Office. Anyway, the H & H had chemistry and genuine love and affection for one another, no bothersome misunderstandings or fighting and I stayed up all night to finish. So, enticing book.

I enjoyed the mystery of it all and the journey to tie up all loose ends was a great one. This is my second book in the series and I will read more.

This is the sixth & final book in the series & what a series finale! I’ve loved the Carlisles’ & will miss them. This was a very well written book that flowed so well the pace never lagged & at times I couldn’t read fast enough. Characters of depth added to my enjoyment. I loved Kit who was nothing like the image he gave to the world, Diana was a very likeable, strong character & together they complemented each other. I love a spy story & this was a very good spy story with plenty of twists & turns along the way. Kit & Diana began with attraction then grew to friendship whilst all the time they were falling deeper in love the road to their HEA wasn’t smooth but it was sigh worthy at times. I do hope some of the secondary characters have their stories.
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

I seem to be in the minority of readers who didn't enjoy this book. The hero was unlikeable - he gets his partner killed by shirking his responsibilities, goes on an unsubstantiated personal vendetta to the detriment of everything and everyone else, seduces away the sole caregiver of a 3 year old and then, whilst feeling guilt, doesn't accept it when colleagues call him on it all. He also seems to hate anyone in the services who is actually competent. He needed a bullet in him to stop him buggering up anything more. He may be a realistic spy, but he's no hero for a romance novel. Diana's brother seems much more interesting as the spy in wastrel disguise.

The heroine is better, and her courage is shown on multiple occasions, but she purports to love Meri without actually talking or playing with her the entire book, then leaves her unsupervised to have a bit of nookie. She also says to the hero, "but how will I go on without you?" Er, a lot more easily than the hero will do without you, Diana.

Whilst this book had a great start - heroine in disguise! - the plot is convoluted and it feels forced in places with questionable plot points that don't hold up to even shallow scrutiny.

This is all before there is a pelican on the south coast. If you've done the hard yards to research the government departments, wouldn't you do a quick Google check to see if these actually grace English shores? (They don't.) Ms Harrington is not the first author to do this, but there is no excuse. It's a pet hate of mine.

If you like sexy books and don't really care for the details, you may enjoy this, but I couldn't suspend my disbelief enough to forgive the flaws.

I received an ARC of this book to read in exchange for a fair review. After The Spy Seduces by Anna Harrington is the 6th book in her Capturing the Carlisles series. It can be read as a stand-alone. I’ve enjoyed reading the series and do recommend reading them all. Christopher (Kit) Carlisle has spent the last ten years working for the home office all while hiding in plain sight under the persona of a scapegrace ne’er-do-well second son. When his partner is murdered he goes rogue to track down the killer, a traitor who has been selling secrets to the French. Diana Morgan believes that her brother has been kidnaped and goes to a meeting with documents she means to exchange for her brother and instead finds out she’s brought the wrong documents and encounters Kit who was expecting to capture her brother. Agents and double Agents, the home office and the foreign office all combine to make a compelling story with twists and turns, danger and betrayal and of course a wonderful HEA. Medium Steam. This is book 6 in the Capturing the Carlisles series, and my favorite of them all. It works perfectly well as a stand alone. Diana Morgan and Christopher Carlisle have a great meet cute, when Christopher is attempting to capture a possible spy and instead finds himself tackling a woman. Nothing and nobody is as it seems. Diana is the smart and strong heroine with her own secrets. Christopher is the operative whose rakehell cover and story of "becoming a vicar some day" has everyone fooled. I thoroughly enjoyed their interactions, the twists and turns of the spy storyline, and the heat level between the two MC. This one wraps up storylines from both the Carlisles and Harrington's Scoundrels series, not in a way that one needs to have read the others but it did make me want to go back and reread all of them again. That's a success in my eyes.

Highly recommended for regency fans and fans of a good regency spy story. This one is for the keeper shelf.

I received an e-arc from the author. All opinions are my own.

I love the Capturing the Carlisles series. I really enjoy Christopher and Diana story the most. I don't want to give spoilers away but you should read the series. The plot and characters were great in this book. Christopher is a gambler who is really a spy and his partner is dead. Diana is in disguise as a boy but is really a general's daughter.

The Spy Who Loves Her is everything I want in a historical romance: danger, desire, and irresistible tension. Kit Carlisle is the perfect blend of rake and hero, hiding layers of loyalty beneath a scandalous façade. Diana Morgan is equally compelling, brave enough to infiltrate taverns and challenge a world built against her. Together, they ignite the page. Their uneasy alliance, laced with deception and longing, makes this book impossible to put down. A beautifully paced, emotionally rich romance with the soul of a spy thriller. Brilliant!

This story swept me away from the opening chapter. Diana and Kit have an electric chemistry that sparks in every scene, whether they're arguing, investigating, or trying desperately to resist each other. The espionage plot is clever and immersive, but it is the romance that truly shines. Diana’s strength and vulnerability make her unforgettable, while Kit’s evolution from reckless second son to devoted protector is deeply satisfying, a top-notch historical romance with all the feels.

What a page turner! The tension of the spy mission, combined with the emotional stakes of Diana’s family ordeal, created a story that had me hooked start to finish. The author balances sharp dialogue, atmospheric historical detail, and heartfelt emotion with expert skill. I especially loved watching Kit’s carefully constructed mask crack as he fell for Diana. The tenderness, the banter, the danger, all pitch perfect. Fans of Mary Balogh, Joanna Bourne, and Lisa Kleypas will adore this.

The Spy Who Loves Her is a historical romance at its finest. The plot is clever without ever overpowering the romance, and the sensual tension between Kit and Diana is exquisite. Hidden identities, life-or-death missions, and a mystery wrapped in treason make for a gripping story, while the slow-burning longing had my heart racing. Diana is a fierce, admirable heroine, and Kit might be one of my favorite romantic leads this year. Absolutely addictive.

Beyond the adventure and intrigue, this book offers something deeper: two characters learning the true meaning of loyalty, sacrifice, and love. Diana’s determination to protect her family is heart wrenching, and Kit’s sense of duty mixed with his growing devotion gives the romance real emotional weight. The twists are expertly delivered, and every reveal raises the stakes in the best way. This is a story that lingers long after the last page.

This book started out great and I truly believed that I would love it. Unfortunately soon afterwards the main characters started doing truly foolish things that were just too hard to believe. The story was still somewhat enjoyable, the chemistry hot, but my heart just wasn’t invested in all of it any more…. I still finished the book and will read the next book
