But until then just be assured that this trilogy is over the moon TOP-NOTCH.
Best books I've read in 2023.

My reviews are on the individual books.
This was my first read by this author and I fell completely in love with these characters. I loved the plot. I loved the spice. It was full of drama and a strong female heroine.
The antihero was pure perfection. Dark, mysterious, dominant, and kinky and LOYAL.

I rated each book 5⭐️

The Mount Trilogy. This series had everything: drama, snark, angst, sexual tension, and amazing chemistry. Loved it.

Lachlan Mount was a street kid who rose up in the underground crime world to rule New Orleans. He gets everything he wants, when he wants it, or heads roll - literally. What he wants most is one woman and he's gone to extensive lengths to not only get her but OWN her. Her choice is submit willingly or lose everything she has, including the people in her life. He has the power to do it.

Keira Kilgore wasn't made to back down. She's strong, independent, and thriving in a man's world. This snarky heroine isn't going to take this ultimatum lying down. Well, she'll take the hate sex lying down or against the wall or on his desk, that was hot, but she's going to make him regret this arrangement. Take away her power? We'll just see about that.

I loved both of these characters. Lachlan wasn't just morally gray, he was deep charcoal. There was no redemption after love. He stays the course and remains true to character. He burns the world for his love and softens for only her. Keira was a refreshing change. She was fierce but flawed. You went through her struggle to accept this deal to save her family. She has moments of weakness like a real human but she has a spine of steel. The writing was fresh and fantastic. It was funny, gritty, and exciting. The secondary characters were amazing players. There are two spin-off series from this and I can't wait to read them. This was my first experience with Meghan March and I am now a forever fan.

5 ⭐ I loved it. I’ll revisit it like an old friend. This book is moving right into my favorites category. I would recommend it to everyone, even people that don’t ask. I’ll one click this author’s work in the future.
4 ⭐ A great read. I’ll probably reread again when feeling nostalgic. It was enjoyable, not portable magic. I would recommend it.
3 ⭐ I liked it. It was a nice way to pass the time. I doubt I’ll reread it. I’d recommend it to someone asking for a specific genre. Thanks for the memories.
2 ⭐ I completed the Herculean task of finishing this book. At times, it felt like I was Prometheus and the suffering would never end. It just wasn’t for me but I applaud the author for their effort.
1 ⭐ I couldn’t finish this book or I wish I hadn't finished. How do I put this? It’s not me, it’s you.

This is one of my favorite series. Mount and Kiera grow and develop so much and learn about themselves and what they want in a partner. Mount becomes so much more human and not just the devil he thinks of himself as. Learning his back story helps us to understand why he is the way he is. These are some of the strongest characters I have ever read.

Mount and Kiera

I can't say this is a faced paced Trilogy by any means. Unfortunately I'll be honest and state I skimmed some. Anyway, Mount is always in the Shadows and Kiera is his light.

I can say I never saw the villain coming that was a nice surprise as to who it was. Glad to see Mag made it.

It was quite an entertaining read full of steamy moments but it still felt a bit lacking.

It was a fast paced book with dual POVs, told by both the main characters. It is a dark mafia romance where the heroine makes a deal with the hero and that deal later turns into love.

It was an enjoyable read for sure but I felt the development of connection between the characters was too quick. The development of relationship between the characters felt too rushed for my liking.

Also, the reveal about our heroine's best friend did not feel too solid to me. But the story as a whole was good and fun.

If you want to read a steamy romance then you can pick this book up. Although it wasn't extraordinary, but a decent read.

Not even sure how to rate this, but note that I don't recall rating a book I have finished under 2 stars.

This is an author who had been highly recommended to me some years ago based on another favourite author.
Unfortunately, it was not what I anticipated. Yes, it has lots of steam but not enough back story to make it work for me. I ended up skimming through the last part of this trilogy just to get it finished. If it hadn't have been highly recommended, I wouldn't have bothered pushing on.

The story had potential and maybe this has more to do with my reading tastes. Pretty sure it was a freebie or discounted when I picked it up.

The Mount Trilogy by Meghan March
Book 1 – Ruthless King
Lachlan Mount is a ruthless man, your worst nightmare, and the King of New Orleans. His word is final, and your debt will be repaid as he sees fit. Heed well his caution, or fate could be a scene of carnage, as those that know, will whisper their warnings. Unfortunately for Keira Kilgore her dead husband has left a debt owed to the mighty king. Lachlan Mount has called it in. With no way to pay him, and already cracking under the pressure of trying to keep her distillery afloat, she is running out of time– tick-tock. But Lachlan already knew this, cunning as he is, he wants her to repay the debt with her body. Kiera is shocked, but can she be a whore for the soul of her dead husband who she would like to dig up, and kill personally? She may fear Lachlan but puts on a brave face, giving her body, but never her mind, playing a dangerous game, especially when his dirty mouth sends her spiraling. But two can play this game, or has she bitten off more than she can chew? And why does she feel there is more at play than she knows?
If you are looking for an alpha anti-hero, you have found him. I consumed this book, but more than anything I loved Kiera with her red hair, her roots to Ireland, and her sassiness.
Pick this trilogy up, you will not be disappointed.

Book 2 – Defiant Queen
Lachlan Mount is a man with many interesting layers. Feared by most, ruthless in his punishments and showing no mercy for those that have crossed him. Yet his childhood scarred and shaped him to become the man he is today. Once a boy that did not have a perfect life, yet he showed inner strength, protecting those that were being taken advantage of. But in doing so, it changed the course of his life; the boy became a man who choose his name and forged his legacy, and became the King. Never before did he want a queen, but in Kiera, she stands tall next to him. Defiant when needed but has he pushed her too far? And when the secrets start to unravel, will it be the breaking point, where he will lose for the first time? Kiera handed her body over almost eagerly. She can’t deny her reaction to the man. But at the same time, she feels a connection. Just when she starts to feel secure, the rug is ripped right out from under her feet and maybe she needs to add a few more names to her hit list for revenge. Ohhh this cliffy is awesome.
Bring on book three.
Hot Books and Sassy Girls

Book 3 – Sinful Empire
We kick off with the backstory of Lachlan Mount and his childhood. You see a side of him you never thought possible. He shows his heart, his protective nature, only for it to be ripped right out and then consumed by guilt. His character changes, and he is hell-bent on an eye for an eye, becoming a brutal force to be reckoned with. He lingers in the shadows, finding the information he needs to have everyone in his pocket. Kiera is his undoing and is always on his radar. One mistake cost him time, but he waited until he claimed her. Now it could all be in vain. Keira finds herself in an alarming situation and is afraid she might not survive. Just when she thinks Lachlan and herself could have a future, everything goes up in smoke. The past keeps coming back to haunt them, but now time is running out and she knows her only salvation is her dark knight, her King, with whom she wants to rule the world.
This was a very exciting series with plenty of action and smoking chemistry. The characters grew on you and you found yourself rooting for them in all the precarious situations they found themselves in. I am almost sad that the story has come to an end.

Love Conquer All!🔥❤️🔥🥵🔥

I absolutely devoured this trilogy in 2 days! It was so captivating, engaging, violence and a beautiful love story. Keira is a badass! She is loyal, sassy, and a good woman. She was pit in a situation where she has to really become the person she suppose to become. Mount is one bad mutha! He is the King of New Orleans. He is cold, calculated, and handsome. This story is not a fairytale but about real life and how to become the person you meant to be. I will not be spoiling this trilogy for you. Some much is going on that it will be good to keep it to myself until you read because it's worth the suspense. I'm still surprised Meghan March even gave us a trilogy because she was adamant that it was not going to happen and I so freaking happy it did. The writing was done beautifully as usual for Meghan! I did however read this out of order because i read Magnolia story before this one but I'm still caught up. I'm reading this for anticipation for the new book name Redemption that is coming out and a continuation of Keira and Mount story but please read Magnolia Duet after this trilogy so you can be on top of the story and ready for the next book! Meghan March has done it again!🎉 She gets me so hooked on her stories and her words that I actually feel like I'm right there with her characters. Amazing work again Meghan March!
Thank you Meghan for coming back out with a bang!😘

Oh Ms. March! I didn’t know I needed this!

Thank god I read this in the trilogy bundle or I might not have kept going! This would have received a whopping 5 stars from me because the writing is truly enjoyable—I couldn’t put it down. However I spent almost the whole first “book” honestly hating the really “gray” line on consent, and therefore the almost unbearable H, and almost ready to DNF.

Almost. But I was so intrigued by the plot and the holistic view of the characters and the smart, strong h and the grace of her acceptance and the depth of her love that I forged on. That’s who I want to be.

Thank God! I really loved this trilogy and will probably read it again. Life isn’t black and white—it’s messy—and the lines on morality get blurry sometimes. And I know what it’s like to think you’re bad from the inside out even though you spend a lifetime caring. So… I ended up loving Lachlan with my whole heart and soul.

I can see a bunch of spinoffs—not going to give it away, V! Gonna go looking now…

Complex

This is not a light read so readers should beware if they have triggers.
Lachlan Mount is a controlling, hardcore criminal who can never live a normal life. He has committed murder more than once and is known as the ruthless criminal king of NOLA. He has everything but becomes obsessed with Keira Kilgore. Keira is a stubborn, shrewd and savvy CEO of her own Whiskey company. They unknowingly hook up with other at a masquerade ball and the one time sexcapade impacts both of their lives. The books seamlessly tell the story of what happens between the two characters after the encounter. They also look back at what happened in the past to affect or influence their development into the adults they are presently.
My rating is for the author's writing. March is adept in telling a story that is edgy, provocative, captivating and holds one's interest.
There are activities that could be labeled sadistic, BDSM and/or abusive but there is consent so readers should consider this before applying labels.

4.5 dark, steamy stars 🔥 ❤️

This is dark, erotic, and hot as…. 🔥but so addictive. It’s not the kind of story I like to read on a regular basis, but every once in a while I love a good, underworld dark tale; and if you do too, this trilogy is it.

4.5 dark, steaming stars.

RUTHLESS KING
Addictive, erotic, hot as….. 🔥 This is the first book in this trilogy and, of course, ends in a cliffhanger.

DEFIANT QUEEN
This second book in the Mount Trilogy is as addictive as the first. Both MCs are strong, determined, and stubborn; but now, despite the commanding, cold darkness of the male protagonist, a second, softer side seems to begin to emerge. Could that possibly be? This just keeps getting better. And yes, it ends in another cliffhanger, so on to book 3.

SINFUL EMPIRE
Just as there are two sides to a story, there can be two shades of darkness. Very good conclusion to this trilogy that never had a dull moment.

The main male character is infuriating and unlikeable, main female lead suffers from acute case of Betraying Body Syndrome. Because of it it was very difficult to get through book one.
In the end I managed and read the whole thing.
Not a great book but a decent one. Good writing, not a bad plot.
BUT! I bloody hate how Meghan March publishes three books instead of one, to make more money, in a form of so called "trilogies" . Book one and two end with a cliffhanger and you have to read all three. If it was the case of some of her work I'd say OK, she has to make money somewhere, but it's done with every single one and I've had it. No more reading Meghan March for me. There are tons of indie authors to read and support who don't resort to this....

It was a sleepless night for me so I spent it rereading this entire trilogy in one night. I love mount and Keira. Just like the first time I couldn’t put the book down. Having them all in one convenient trilogy made it that much easier to just devour all three books last night. It’s dark, it’s dirty (I mean like whoa give me a moment lol) but there is so much heart. I love how March writes her bad boys boy that are totally alpha but have a squishy inside. I also love that her female characters are all simpering nitwits. Grab some snacks , call into work, and settle in because this is a hard series to set down.

This book was absolutely mind blowing. Spice rate this at a 5 for me. I did not think I was going to love it as much as I did. Of course I do love a good morally grey character. This series has become one of my comfort reads. I have no doubt that I will be reading it again in the near future. Meghan March is a goddess. I have several of her books and they are all good but this one is my all time favorite. If you're looking for a morally grey character who is a 'touch her and die' kind of man. This is for you. If not read it anyway.

A lot rollercoaster

This was a serious read. Hated the MMC in the beginning such alphahole. The FMC was a strong woman that kept MMC off balance throughout the trilogy. Of course his obsession with her turned into more with each book. Her worth to him increased 100 fold and her opinion of him changed throughout the 3 books. There was a twist at the that I partially expected but not in the way I thought. I thought I was going to hate these books but ended up loving them. Good job. I’ve already but more f this authors books n my TBR.

The Mount Trilogy

OMG - I’ve never been so thankful for a friend’s recommendation before!! This trilogy is made up of Ruthless King, Defiant Queen & Sinful Empire! The twists and turns in these books keeps you on your toes and begging the gods to find out what’s going to happen next. I just couldn’t get enough of Mount & Kiera. They were fire! Absolutely above and beyond the 5 ⭐️’s I’m giving it!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Where do I start?

Plot was promising, but it just got a) tedious b) ridiculous and c) unbelievable. Not even me, with my preference of high fantasy and science fiction could suspend my belief that there's some girl on this planet who would put up with that crap, or who could have that reaction to someone so horrible and abusive. If there are girls out there, then like the heroine, they should come under the Too Stupid To Live category.

Give it a miss.

Wow, just wow!

This thrilling and most satisfying volume is undeniably a romance. The main characters are powerfully engaging and there is plenty of growth for both players.

There's little that feels new and fresh in steamy romantic fiction these days. The Mount Trilogy is an exception to this tendency. It doesn't fall into any of the popular sub-genres, which is very refreshing.

hated it

I no longer remember how I came to buy this book, maybe it was free, but I hated it. Lackland Mount is awful and I wish him the worst. I’m sure at some point he and Kiera fall madly in love and then nobody supposed to care that he tortured and abused her for the small part of the first book that I could stomach reading. He sucks, he’s the worst, and this is not at all romantic to me; if I wanted to read awful things about women being exploited, I would just read a newspaper.

Fuck me I finally finished it!
This trilogy was PHENOMENAL!
Dark, gory, thrilling, spicy as fuck and all round incredible.
Lachlan and Keira, their story is one for the ages! I fell in love with them and the constant twists and turns of their relationship. Those plot twists turned me inside out, seriously felt like my heart was ripped out of my chest and shoved back in multiple times. I can’t put into words how much I loved this trilogy.

As a whole, I enjoy Meghan March a lot. That said, this series is not my favorite. I have trouble with books where the main character is a kingpin, mafioso, etc, particularly when the women in their lives excuse the behavior. Effort was made to make Lachlan Mount sympathetic and seem like he only does wrong for the right reasons (think Sonny on General Hospital), but it fell short for me. Parts are very erotic, but overall, I only liked this book.

Twists and Turns

Would never know there were even twists and turns in this book based on how it started. You want to hate the H because of the way he talks and treats the h. She is no wimp, but a blazing redhead true to form.

Not doing a synopsis because that ruins everything. Scorching hot scenes. No prudes allowed.

Such a great series in one compilation!

I already own the original ebooks, and I couldn't resist owning this one, too. The story is an adventure of mystery, intrigue, blackmail and lust. Mount and Keira's journey is one steamy story that brings and keeps them together. Love this story. Enjoy.

Surprising Ending

Awesome trilogy. If you hate erotica then don't read this series because its a vital part woven throughout the storyline. Surprising ending but Lachlan and Kiera are definitely well matched. Enjoyed this series more than I thought possible. Characters well developed. Hard to put down!

Megan March for the win!

I loved this trilogy! I loved the story line, the independence of the Heroine, the names the author chose, it was just a really nice read! I love NOLA and my dream home might have a few secret doors and passageways. I know it isn't feasible but it sure was fun to read about and think about a secret place existing in a spooky town like New Orleans!
