I haven't read the whole anthology but I have been blessed to have been asked to read Brenda S. Anderson's contribution to it. Her story "Broken Noel" is a poignant one of loss during a time of what is supposed to be joy, and a father and daughter journeying together through a minefield of memories. Don't be afraid to read it, though, because there is LOVE on every page. My only complaint was that it is too short!!!

I’ve only read 2 books in this anthology so far.
Broken Noel: This story was really hard for me to read because I lost my mom just before Christmas. This book gives so much hope and restores our love for Christ and those around us. As this book shows, we really don’t know what’s going on in someone else’s life. This book helped me a lot.
Star Light: What an amazing story!! It spoke to my heart because I went through the same thing as the main character in this story. This story gives you hope and love!
I voluntarily read an advance copy of these two stories and this is my honest review.
I have now read all the stories in this anthology! Each one has a different theme but overall encompasses the theme of Hope, love, & second chances!! I really enjoyed each individual story and the characters in each! I highly recommend this anthology!!

I read this book because I know all the Mosaic authors are excellent. I enjoyed all the stories and they gave me a new way of thinking about Christmas. Well done! I bought this book and was so glad that I did!

This is a wonderful way to get into the Christmas spirit, but be prepared! The Heart of Christmas has all of the 'feels', so you may alternate between laughter and tears. Six talented authors share stories of faith and inspiration, as they reflect on the true meaning of Christmas. Some of these stories have grief and loss, while others are more light-hearted, but they all offer wonderful messages, and they all made me examine my own thoughts about the holidays.
The stories include Broken Noel by Brenda S. Anderson; No More Night by Eleanor Bertin; Star Light by Sara Davison; Hart of Noel by Chautona Havig; Caught in the Act by Lisa Renée; and Claus-trophobic by Lorna Seilstad. This is a wonderful anthology and I will be reading these stories again, because you can never have too many reminders of love, faith, and the wonder of Jesus's birth!
I received a digital copy from the publisher via Celebrate Lit. There was no obligation for a favorable review. These are my own thoughts.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK
The Heart of Christmas is from the Mosaic Collection, a collection of books by many author writing faith base stories. The stories are all different and cover a wide range of characters that will warm your hearts. Not all are happy stories, some are sad and make you shed a few tears, where others will have you smiling, and even laughing a bit. The stories in the book are as follows:
Broken Noel by Brenda S. Anderson
No More Night by Eleanor Bertin
Star Light by Sara Davison
Hart of Noel by Chautona Havig
Caught in the Act by Lisa Renée
Claus-trophobic by Lorna Seilstad
it is difficult for me to pick a favorite one because they all have a different meaning for me and I love each of them. They were enough to get me in a festive mood and wanting to go Christmas shopping!
I enjoyed hearing from different authors, allowing of them I knew or have heard of already but it’s nice to be reminded of the awesome writing skills of these ladies. The Heart of Christmas would be a wonderful addition to your family library. The stories are short and can pretty much be read in one setting, and each will keep your attention. I encourage you to check out this sweet book and enjoy during the Christmas holidays. This one is getting Five Stars from me.
A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone. I am disclosing this with my review in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

I really enjoy reading Christmas Themed books. The Heart of Christmas is an anthology written by 6 different authors. There are 6 Novellas in this book, each on average about 80 pages long. I have not read them all yet, but I will as the Christmas Season draws near.
The 3 stories that I did read are focused on the True Meaning of the Season. Many have gotten away from the True reason we celebrate Christmas and the stories bring the focus back. I LOVE reading about the Traditions that are celebrating in each of the stories, I am very much a Traditional Holiday person. The Busyness of Life has it hard for so many to focus on the True meaning on Christmas, which is Jesus Christ's Birth. Many are focused on the Secular version of Christmas, but Christmas to Christians is so much more then "decorating trees and giving and receiving presents". I was encouraged by the stories in this book to really bring the Focus back in our household! The Stories are about Forgiveness, Hope, Faith and Family and more.
I really enjoyed this book and look forward to finishing it. Readers all of kinds will enjoy this WONDERFUL BOOK!

The closer the holiday season gets, the busier life gets... and the less time we have for reading... oh, but isn't that sometimes when we need the escape that a good story can provide the most? Personally, with the business of the holidays, I tend to find myself drawn to novellas during that time of year so I was very excited to see this collection of novellas from the Mosaic authors. I know when I pick up a collection from this group of authors, I will get a variety of great styles with one thing in common--- a beautiful message of faith, and that's so important during the holiday season!
At the time of writing this review, I have not read each and every one of the novellas featured in The Heart of Christmas---I want to save some for the actual holiday season--- but I am loving those that I have read so far. They are filled with holiday spirits and traditions, all pointing back to the true meaning of the season. While shorter in length, these stories have not felt rushed or incomplete but instead are just the right length for this busy time of year.
Personally I am already pretty familiar with most of the authors featured in this collection, but for those looking for new Christian authors to follow, this collection can be a great introduction too! Overall, if you're looking for some great holiday reading, you won't want to miss adding this one to your TBR!
**I received a complimentary copy for consideration. All thoughts are my own.

It's no secret that I have a hard time reviewing collections of novellas like this one, since I never know how much to say without just telling the whole story. With this collection, I really enjoyed the chance to start Christmas a little early! I love the focus on the true meaning of Christmas, as well as the stories that centered on Christs birth in Bethlehem. This is a wonderful collection of stories to pick up as the weather turns colder!
I received this book from Celebrate Lit. This is my honest review.

In this collection, you will find stories of learning to forgive as Christ has forgiven you. They will touch your heart and uplift your spirit. Each story in the collection is well-written with a host of well-developed characters you will fall in love with.
If I had to pick a personal favorite, it would have to be the witty, sweet romance written by Chauntona Havig, "Hart of Noel." Her writing style really brought the small-town tale alive for me.
I received an ARC from the authors and willingly choose to review it. Highly recommended.

Life is messy - year around, but often more during that wonderful time of year. Six Christmas stories: Broken Noel, No Night There, Star Light, Hart of Noel, Caught in the Act, and Claus-trophobic. This avid reader discovered two new authors: Lisa Renee and Lorna Selistad.
My favorite story in this anthology is: Star Light by Sara Davison, which is two stories in one - the story of Calla and Ariel set during the original Biblical Christmas story and Felicity and Justin in modern times. This Christmas person enjoyed the twelve days BEFORE Christmas, how each piece of the manger scene had a story and was compared to the Biblical story. Symbols are NOT meaningless; but loaded with meaning and memories! Star Light brought this reader a new perspective on the stable. AWFEL soup reminded me of my mom's vegetable soup. I was surprised at the ending - what had caused Felicity's pain at Christmas. Well done Sara Davison. WOW! Still pondering the Nativity symbols.
Also enjoyed Hart of Noel - two small town businesses and two unique personalities - first at odds, but then working together during a hectic December. The novellas Caught in the Act and Claus-trophobic made me chuckle.
Broken Noel and No Night There are well crafted stories with themes of hope after loss. An inspiring collection of short stories and novellas.

An especially and uniquely beautiful, stirring, and highly memorable anthology of Christmas-related stories crafted by authors who are true masters of the craft. The Mosaic Collection has again brought together stories to savor with well-created characters brought to life in unique situations whose hope ultimately is found in Christ. This is a collection of stories to share with themes everyone will find something relatable and especially touching. Another amazing collaboration and one I very highly treasure, recommend and will be gifting.

I read No Night There by Eleanor Bertin. This book was a real gripper. The story is about a woman who learns her former husband, who was not a nice man, is in the hospital with terminal cancer. The author does a great job of relating how the Lord can use people in unordinary ways to do His will. It's a short story and easy to read. I do recommend it. I have not read the other stories yet, but if they are as good I'm sure the whole anthology is a real winner.
I was given an ARC for this story, but the review is my own opinion. I also purchased the entire anthology.

What a joy Christmas is but how do you celebrate it when you have lost the woman you lost? Dealing with the lost and taking care of your daughter all by yourself. Brenda Anderson handles it wonderfully. Enjoy!

Another great collection by Mosaic. I love Christmas and reading about it makes me all giddy and ready to start the season. These stories really put you in the mood. Besides Chautona Havig, Lorna Seilstad and Johnnie Alexander I had not read any of the authors and I was glad to be able to add some new authors to my to-be-read list. The stories are heartwarming and make you want to drop everything and just get cozy and read!
If you need new authors to try or just want to escape reality and step into the Christmas time then grab this collection!!

This collection of Christmas stories is filled with, joy, grief, laughter and Jesus. Each story is different but still shares the Christmas spirit. I loved how each author gave us stories that show us that we are always surrounded by God’s love. I enjoy reading Christmas stories year round and this book will be added to my best of 2021 books.
Broken Noelle by Brenda S. Anderson
A loss at any time is hard but is especially difficult during the holidays. This story made me cry as I read how Thomas and Noelle were trying to find joy at Christmas. Thomas can’t help but feel anger that his wife died and blames God and her devotion to her work. Noelle is hurting over the loss of her mom and her dad is ignoring her. I understand how it must be for Thomas to try to make the holidays cheerful but first he needs to ask God for help. We follow Thomas as he walks through the stages of grieve and learns that God is always there in our darkest times.
I loved how Noelle in her innocence wanted to help another child during the holiday. Her heart is big and her example of unconditional love is just what Thomas needs to see right now. It is a beautiful story of forgiveness and joy that brings healing during the holidays.
No More Night by Elenor Bertin
Lily finds herself celebrating Christmas a little sad this year. After losing her parents and her children moving away, things will be different this year. Nagging in the back of her mind is the news that her ex-husband was dying from cancer. There is still bitterness towards him, but maybe she needs to give him grace. Oh that can be hard when the person has been hurtful to you.
I loved how Lily went to the hospital everyday and cared for her ex. The way she brought light to his hospital room was touching and made me sob. Lily shows compassion and shared the Word of God and I know in the moments before her ex passed, he found Jesus. What touched me about this story was that we need to show grace to others even when we feel like they don’t deserve it.
Star Light by Sara Davison
What a wonderful journey the author takes us on as we see the birth of Jesus through the eyes of several different people. I knew Felicity was hurting but I didn’t know why. Each day she pulled out a different part of the manger scene and was transported back to that moment in the Bible. I loved going back to the moments leading up to that special moment and feeling what the innkeepers must of felt. In their stable a miracle was about to happen. In the present day, Felicity is feeling a stirring within herself.
I loved how each piece for the manager scene is put out one day at a time. The author gives us a glimmer of what Felicity is going through but still I wasn’t sure what it could be. I know she was grieving a loss but something about this tradition of the manger was very special to her. Her feeling of loneliness is overwhelming and I loved the moment she surrenders everything to God. She was never alone but pushed God aside. Now her healing is beginning at she is reminded that God will never leave her.
Hart of Noelle by Chautona Havig
This is such a fun book. Two business owners fighting over silly things as Christmas time approaches. Poor Joshua has used all his savings to open up the tiny bookstore in his town. Across the street is Holly with her bakery doing well for herself. They don’t get along at all which makes for an enjoyable look at enemy to friend story. They are both good people even if they are stubborn at times.
Milton is a great character who loves to help struggling businesses. Can he breathe new life into Joshua’s bookstore? As Milton begins to work with Joshua there was something that really stood out to me. They are talking about family and Milton says, “ and one day, they aren’t there to do it anymore.” He is referring to how families can get you involved in things you don’t want to do. But at some time, they won’t be there anymore. Time is short and the author reminded me to take each day as a blessing and spend as much time as you can with family and friends.
It was so enjoyable to watch Joshua and Honey try their best to work together and be civil to each other. Milton is so patient with both of them and his gentle spirit helps ease tension as they all work together. The plan to help Joshua’s store begins and so does the hope that two people can work together to accomplish a plan that will bring joy back to Joshua. Milton is someone who brings cheer wherever he goes and I love how he never gives up. As for Joshua and Honey, well I will let readers fund out for theirselves.
“Only in salvation and romance is the end the real beginning.”
Caught in the Act by Lisa Renee
This story sure brings back memories for me. Each year I directed the Children’s Church Christmas program. It was a lot of work but so much fun. When I started reading about a sweet little girl named Bella my heart went out to her. I know each child wants to feel special and getting a big lead in a play really boosts their self image. But what do you do when the girl who has her heart set on being an Angel in the play can’t sing the song ?
Page is beside herself when Bella’s father proposes a compromise before his child is removed from the part she has her heart set on. I laughed so hard knowing I have been there myself. She runs into a busy body who has come to help Page with costumes. I guess Page knows everything about Dion now. We are in for a treat as these two begin a friendship. They work together to get the play ready and find themselves starting to like each other. I wonder if their relationship will blossom?
I had to laugh when the children’s play started. There is always that one child that stands out and thus begins the fight over baby Jesus between two little girls on the stage. Even though there are a few hiccups in the play, the message was clear. Jesus is the reason for the season.
Claus-trophobic by Lorna Seilstad
I would love to be a part of Meg’s family. They decorate the house outside and inside with an emphasis on over the top. Each year cars cause a traffic jam just to see the spectacular show of lights. I thought Meg’s parents had a great sense of humor by naming their children Nick and Nutmeg. Maybe it wouldn’t be so much fun to be called Nutmeg but it is still very cute.
Meg coming home this year for Christmas is filled with anxiety and hope. There is something going on between her and her dad. I’m not sure her dad knows there is friction, but I have a feeling he is going to find out soon. I’m excited to see where the author takes readers as we follow Santa and his elf otherwise known as dad and Nutmeg.
The story is fun as we watch Meg and her dad bring joy to the children. Meg begins to understand why her dad likes to be Santa each year. There is a scene where Santa encounters a child with autism. This is a beautiful part of the story that shows that special needs children should be treated the same as other children. Reaching them is important and our Santa in the story is an excellent example of seeing others the way Jesus does.
The message in this story is really good. Meg has been angry for so long because she thought her dad always put others first especially at Christmas. Spending time with him she finds out that he has a big heart for children with special needs. I can’t wait for readers to learn what his plan is. I loved this story because it really shares the true meaning of Christmas. Can I be adopted by this family please??

The Heart of Christmas has stories from six different authors. They are heartfelt and moving. All of them touched me in a different way.
Broken Noel- Brenda S. Anderson –After his wife dies a father has to find out how to do Christmas with his daughter while going through the grieving process. Anderson shows all the stages of grief through her story.
No Night There - Eleanor Bertin – Lily Worth learns that her nasty ex-husband is dying alone before Christmas. She feels led to go to the hospital and see him. While there she has a life changing experiance.
Star Light – Sara Davison – I liked how Davison was able to share the true meaning of Christmas. Her story brings out painful memories for the main character Felicity. In the end she is given hope.
Hart of Noel - Chautona Havig – I like how the town of Noel pulls together to make Christmas memories. It’s neat how two shops, a bookstore and a bakery were matched together to help each other out. The story was full of conflict and romance between the story owners.
Caught in the Act - Lisa Renée – If you like Hallmark movies this is the story for you.
Claus-trophobic - Lorna Seilstad – I loved this story! In the story Santa knew how to relate to a boy with autism. I can see that Seilstad did her homework on autism.
I received a complimentary copy for consideration. All thoughts are my own.

This was a well written short story. At the beginning we meet Page, who has been required to direct the elementary school Christmas play. Drama is not her forte & right off the bat her skills are put to the test when little Bella wants to be an angel but has the voice of nails on a chalkboard. She then meets Bella's dad & a sweet, but quick, romance ensues. I enjoyed reading this but I did feel like the ending was sort of forced.
I received an advanced review copy but was not required to write a review. All opinions are 100% my own.

I read the novella Caught in the Act by Lisa Renee. It was a cute Christmas story with Christian themes. It was a super quick read, but it still managed to span a couple months, which is something I always appreciate in a novella. Just one thing, as a musician, that bugged me was the characters practicing "doh, ray, me", not do, re, mi. But that's me being nitpicky and reading this ARC between teaching music lessons.

An entertaining collection of styles and stories to delight the reader's heart, all containing a special Christmas tradition.

The Heart Of Christmas is a Mosaic Collection of six stories just perfect for the Christmas season. It is the third Christmas collection and all the stories are unique, delightful, contemporary and by Christian authors.
The stories are warm and welcoming, each uniquely written. They are similar but different as they spread the love of Jesus.
I absolutely loved this collection. I must confess I did have a favourite. See if you do too.
Broken Noel by Brenda Anderson is a charming and heartfelt story about a journey through grief and the true meaning of Christmas.
Loss hurts. Loss in the run up to Christmas with all its family traditions seems even more painful. There is no one size fits all in a journey through grief. Grief is a process and one must work through it however you can.
God understands our anger and our pain. He wants us to bring it all to Him. “I’m struggling… I know God is always good, but I’m not happy with Him right now.” God wants us to be ‘real’ with Him.
Prayer is important. We must remember to listen as well as to talk. “He already had a direct line to God, [he] was working on the listening part.”
Brenda Anderson has drawn her characters well and realistically. They are easy to empathise with. The reader can so easily ‘feel’ the grief of a father. His eight year old daughter is a mixture of sad, apprehensive and also excited for Christmas. Her Jesus heart and enthusiastic nature are infectious. Broken Noel is a delightful tale.
No Night There by Eleanor Bertin is a heartfelt tale about forgiveness and new life in Jesus. It is a tale that shows it is never too late to invite Jesus into your life. “He’s dying alone… without Jesus.” As I once remember Jamaican evangelist George Miller saying “you can live without Jesus but for goodness sake, do not die without Jesus.”
Scripture is important. As we read scripture aloud, a calm descends into our souls.
Forgiveness is important. It frees us from a prison of bitterness.
Reading No Night There will not leave you unchanged. It is a short story with a powerful message.
Star Light by Sara Davison is a beautiful bittersweet story about letting go and trusting God.
The story of the first Christmas is told from the point of view of the innkeeper’s wife. It alternates with a present day narrative as we learn that Jesus is for “everyone, everywhere.” It is a cleverly constructed story that will swell your heart with love.
Life is not always kind but God is faithful. “Even if I feel completely alone, God is with me.” Whatever we face in life, God walks beside us in the fire. “Trying to cling to the hope… that God had not abandoned her.” Sometimes we do not ‘see’ or ‘feel’ the presence of God but our feelings are not a reliable gauge to the presence of God.
The story deals with loss. It is an all-consuming loss that has frozen a life at a moment in time. We need to let go of loss, and open up our hearts to let love and life in again. Star Light was utterly beautiful.
Hart Of Noel by Chautona Havig is the most delightful tale showing how to get the spirit of Christmas flowing. It is set in a small town where a book shop and a coffee shop sit side by side – what could be better? Add in a shaggy dog, an independent cat and a bird called Atticus not Finch – and you have all the ingredients for a perfect read.
Smiles and kindness can melt hearts. Neighbours pull together when a crisis falls. Heads come together to think up ways to improve sales.
As the story heads towards Christmas, the reader is enchanted. Hart Of Noel is a hug in a book. It is delightful.
Caught In The Act by Lisa Renee is a light-hearted charming story about putting on a nativity for the community in a small town. We see the hard work and dedication required to work with children – but the independent spirit of the children on the day causes much hilarity!
Small town living means your private life is not your own, as well-meaning older ladies decide to match-make. Caught In The Act was a really fun story.
Claus-trophobic by Lorna Seilstad is a wonderful warm tale following a seasonal Santa and his elf over the festive period.
Unconditional love is received from God. Santa wants to spread this love to all. We witness the patience and care needed as children are greeted. There was a very touching scene as Santa took the time to talk to a boy with autism. There is a huge heart within the tale that wants to open a place where children with disability can take their time to see Santa. Claus-trophobic was a very touching tale.
I received a free copy from the organisers of the Mosaic Collection. A favourable review was not required. All opinions are my own.

The Heart of Christmas is a delightful collection capturing many aspects of the Christmas season - both happy and sad. Each story points readers to Christ and the love we have for others. Some are hard to read and may bring tears as you read the stories. They may bring back memories or they may represent things going on in your life right now. These authors love their readers and have the ability to present holiday challenges in ways that will reach the reader’s heart.
“Broken Noel” by Brenda S. Anderson
Grief is difficult but I think especially so when the loss comes at the holidays. Anderson’s characters work their way through the death of a wife/mother between thanksgiving and Christmas. She understands what they are struggling with and tells the story in such a way that readers will emphasize with the characters. Those who have lost loved ones during the holidays may have their grief triggered but the story reminds us to focus on others, but especially on Jesus.
“No More Night” by Eleanor Bertin
What better time than Christmas to forgive a person who has wronged you. Lily’s was a terrible divorce years ago. In the past year she has cared for both of her parents as they died. Now her ex-husband is dying. Bertin has written a touching story about forgiveness and how God’s Word draws us to Him.
“Star Light” by Sara Davison
I love this story within a story novella. Felicity’s story contains a surprise at the end that I didn’t really see coming. The first Christmas story of Calla and Amiel is beautiful. I think Davison could pull that story out and use it to create a picture storybook for kids - it could even be marketed with a matching Nativity set. Star Light is a story of letting go and opening your heart to another who needs love.
“Hart of Noel” by Chautona Havig
This novella details another stop on Milton Coleridge’s journey as he stops at small bookstores along his path. Hart of Noel is set in Noel, Missouri at Christmas time. Milton once again works to save a dying small bookstore and in the process bring romance to the owner. Havig has a way of involving readers in the lives of her characters, making you want to read more.
“Caught in the Act” by Lisa Renee
When kids are involved anything can happen. Page is tasked with directing the Christmas play which turns into a fundraising event. Art is her passion and this job is a stepping stone to pay off school loans and move on to her passion. Dion is a single dad who adores his daughter and wants to see the theater returned to its previous glory. They work together for a successful event. I hope Lisa Renee has more stories planned for these characters as they are people I’d like to get to know better.
“Claus-trophobic” by Lorna Seilstad
Ever wondered what it's like to be Santa’s child during December? Meg knows first hand - December has always been her dad’s busy season as he played Santa for department stores and parties. The year Meg is jobless, she helps her dad out and learns more about her dad’s motive and draws closer to him in the process.
While it is an anthology of stories for adults, most of the stories in The Heart of Christmas could be enjoyed by high school students. I think The Heart of Christmas would be appropriate for a k-12 Christian school library.
I received a complimentary copy of The Heart of Christmas. This is my honest review.

4.0 out of 5 stars Christmas Memories ... forgiveness, love and redemption
Reviewed in the United States on October 11, 2021
Christmas…. a time of the year that evokes a lot of emotions, a lot of memories. The novellas in this anthology do just that…. capture memories while showing how God heals. They take us to the true meaning of Christmas … love, forgiveness and redemption.
1st story…. Brenda S Anderson … Broken Noelle
a heartwarming story about dealing with loss during the holidays.
“Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning.”
– Psalm 30:5”
2nd story … Eleanor Bertin …. No Night There
Death entered the world and darkness set in. Lily had been cheated on, betrayed and forsaken. Her playboy husband abandoned her and their children. Thirty some years later, he’s on his death bed and doesn’t know the Lord. Lily is drawn to go see him. She finds a pitiful man in a dark, bleak hospital room, all alone. Little did she know 30 plus years ago when she vowed ‘till death do us part’ that she would be used to lead him to Christ, the Light of the world, right before his death.
“There shall be no night there:
They need no lamp
nor light of the sun,
for the Lord God gives them light.”
3rd story ….Sara Davison … Star Light
Memories. When that’s all we have left, we lean on them. We remember the love, cherish the times when they were real. Felicia’s memories were the key to her healing. It took those wonderful memories along with repeating a yearly tradition of honoring The Twelve Days of Christmas for Felicia to realize God was there, she wasn’t alone. As the book points out: “Because the darker the night, the more brightly the light shines.”
Loved the story of Jesus’ birth …. and the thought put into the backstory of what could have happened the night He was born….. when I say ‘could’ have happened, I mean the role of the innkeeper and his wife. Very touching.
4th story… Chautona Havig …Hart of Noel
Mmmmm… if your first impression of Honey is not good, hang in there, maybe it will change. After all this is Christmas, a story of love, forgiveness and redemption.
5th story …. Lisa Renee … Caught in the Act
What’s not to like about a Rom-Com centering around Christmas, a single dad, a teacher out of her league and precious children. Cute, sweet and funny.
6th story … Lorna Seilstad …Claus—trophobic
What can I say…. this is a heartwarming novella that makes you think. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself chuckling a time or two either. And yes, this may be lighthearted, but it goes deeper than that… much deeper. It’s about daddy’s little girl all grown up now, it’s about a father-daughter relationship.

Amazing stories!
As it has the last two years, The Mosaic Collection is again releasing a Christmas anthology, The Heart of Christmas. This year some new authors complement the collection, along with some of my favorites.
Star Light by Sara Davison wowed me! Even though I knew I was in for a big surprise by the event causing Felicity's grief, I was still stunned as it was revealed! Such a tender story of a woman opening her heart for healing and, more importantly, allowing the Lord to have preeminence in her life.
I loved that Felicity's story contained a fictionalized account of the Christmas story as well - and the fun idea of setting out the nativity set in the twelve days before Christmas, reading a portion of the story each day before putting out another figurine.
Broken Noel by Brenda S. Anderson is a lovely story about Thomas, whose wife Lacy recently lost her battle with cancer, and the grief he experienced afterward. His struggle with anger towards the man he blamed for her death was palpable!
I loved the sensitive manner in which the author addressed these things and how she allowed Thomas' heart to turn back to the Lord. His eight-year-old daughter was so precious!
If you enjoy Christmas stories with a strong emphasis on the real reason for celebrating the season, you won't want to miss The Heart of Christmas collection.

Caught in the Act by Lisa Renee:
It's Christmas and that means it's time for children's Christmas plays....except there's a problem, Page Martin never intended to be in charge of putting one on! But being the new Creative Arts teacher in Clear Creek County, it's her job to cover all aspects, drama included. To top it off, the one little girl who's chosen to be the Christmas angel has no singing talent & her dad is a bigwig. So what's a girl to do? The show must go on!
This is a cute, short & funny romantic novella in the Heart of Christmas Antholgy where Christmas traditions thrive & rituals live on. Page certainly has her share of headaches, and one proves to mess with her heart as well in the form of Dion Landers. Making his little girl into a singing angel proves to be quite the challenge, but she's up to it! Especially when he agrees to build the set for the Nativity play in exchange for singing lessons for his daughter. Will she be able to pull it off in time and can she keep her heart from melting every time she interacts with the handsome single dad?
I enjoyed watching this story unfold and the kids play at the end was hilarious! I only read Lisa Renee's contribution Caught in the Act but I look forward to the other stories as well.
*I received a complimentary copy from the author and was not obligated to leave a favorable review. All opinions expressed here are mine. *

he Heart of Christmas is written by The Mosaic Collection. While I read this book in October it was exciting to read Christmas stories early. I used to be a grinch when it came to Christmas but Covid changed everything and it made me appreciate the holiday even more. I actually just ordered a new Christmas tree. This book got me into the Christmas Spirit.
This book contains different stories written by different authors. The stories are heartwarming and uplifting. The stories are all well written and contain great characters that are developed well. I have read all of the authors previously and have always enjoyed their work.
We see a variety of stories. We see grief, to hallmark like stories to autism to bitter exes. They are unique and different. The authors always write such beautiful works.
This was a fun collection to read. I really enjoyed reading these heartwarming stories. The mosaic authors did a great job. I hope they continue to write collections in the future.
I received a copy of this book through the Celebrate Lit Blogging Program, all thoughts are my own.

I just finished the first novella in this collection, Broken Noel by Brenda S Anderson. I'll admit, it made me cry in the beginning and at the ending, probably because I'm walking in that season of grief, too, and it really hit home. However, I do love the way Thomas is trying to deal with his grief and still be there for his daughter, Noelle. He does get a "kick in the pants" he needs, but I love Pastor Jacob also told him a way to deal with his grief that does help. God knows our thoughts and feelings, so anything we bring to Him, He already knows and will help us deal with. He's just waiting for us to bring it all to Him. Grief is a process, and we won't be done with the process on this earth. We will be able to deal with it, though!
In No Night There by Eleanor Bertin, Lily and Darren have been divorced for years. Lily finds out that Darren is in the hospital, alone, with no visitors. She decides to obey God's voice telling her to visit him. Eventually, she leads him to Christ by showing him Christ's love as she helps to care for him and by reading the Bible to him. God shows her that He never gives up on us, and we shouldn't give up on those in our lives. We never know how God may us to reach someone for Him, even someone who hurt us as badly as Darren hurt Lily and their children.
In Star Light by Sara Davison, we meet Felicity and Justin. I really enjoyed this story, but you're going to need tissues!!!!!! The ending is not what I was expecting; however, Felicity's growth and trust in God is what we all have to come to grips with on our own, at one time or another. At some point, we all have to make our faith our own, and not rely on another person. God is always with us, just waiting for us to turn to Him.
In Hart of Noel by Chautona Havig, we meet Joshua and Honey. Honey is a tell it like it is girl, and Joshua isn't the type to put himself out there, especially since he's not sure his business is going to survive. When Milton steps in to help Joshua keep his bookstore open, he also steps in to helping Joshua and Honey change from enemies to friends, to possibly something more, if they can learn to take each other at more than face value. When they finally learn to work together and not fight each other, watch out!
In Claus-trophobic by Lorna Seilstad, we meet Nutmeg and her family. Nutmeg goes by Meg as she doesn't like her name. She also isn't crazy about the fact that her father always had to play Santa every year, and didn't care for her as he did other children. When she comes quits her job to go home for Christmas, she thinks this year will be like any other. Instead, this year, she learns just how much her father did care for her, and how much she projected of her feelings onto everything her father did, without stopping to think that she was only looking at part of the picture. She when truly opens her eyes and has a talk with her father, she realizes just how wrong she's been through the years, and what a true blessing her father is, along with just how much her Heavenly Father has blessed her with, too.

"The Heart of Christmas" by The Mosaic Collection is a great collection of six stories to get readers in the mood for Christmas. This collection isn't a collection of sweet and happy stories. It is a a collection of stories that clearly shows what is Christmas is about. These stories are filled with hope and shows that God is with us even when we have tragic and life isn't the way we planned it. I would even say these stories are good to read even when it isn't anywhere time for the Christmas, but anytime when readers need a reminder that there is a reason to celebrate God.
These stories feature a story about a Nativity set, stories about forgiveness, story about a bookstore and love, stories about misunderstanding between daughters and fathers.
I don't think I have a favorites among the stories because there was something I likes about them all. I admit there were a few tears shed in each of these stories but there were smiles also.
I received a complimentary copy from the authors and Celebrate Lit and these opinions are my own.

I love when a book evokes emotion in me as a reader, and The Heart of Christmas did just that. I cried some, but I laughed a little too. Not all in the same story, but that's the beauty of an anthology--different stories by different authors. Different stories that evoke different emotional responses.
I also enjoy a well put-together book, and this anthology met that criteria.
In particular, I enjoyed the stories by Ms. Anderson and Ms. Havig, Broken Noel and Hart of Noel.
The one, Broken Noel, touched me in ways I wasn't expecting. I prefer happy stories about happy events in life, but life isn't always about happiness. There are hard moments too, and I think Ms. Anderson dealt with the hard moment in her story very well. I could feel the pain, anger, and hopelessness her characters were feeling, and yes, I cried.
The other stories were all good too, but I'll let you read them to see what you think.
