Winter’s chill has come to Golden Hills, Colorado, and Hannah, Razzy and the boys are busy trying to crack an even colder case.
The ten year anniversary of Debbie Saxton’s mysterious disappearance is quickly approaching. When her desperate family, convinced she’s still alive, approaches the newspaper for help, Hannah is determined to track down this story and figure out where it leads.
The holidays are right around the corner. Will Hannah and the gang be able to deliver a Christmas miracle?
Although this still had its cute moments, like the cuddly Christmas at the very end of the story, I have to admit that...I just wasn't as on-board with this book as the others.
The main reason for that is probably because it just isn't as exciting, not as much happens, and a lot of it doesn't feel as relevant as the previous books. This time around, Hannah is approached by an aging couple who ask her to look into their daughter's disappearance from a 10-year-old cold case. The dad's convinced that the daughter is alive and the mom's not so sure, but in either case they feel that Hannah's the best person to help them after what she's accomplished in the previous books.
While that's...nice and all, I do feel like it's a bit irrelevant to Hannah's main story. Also, I'm surprised that Tom assigned Hannah to it at all, given that it's hardly current news and also doesn't sound like something a reporter should be expected to do. Still though, along with Ben's and the cats' help, they do solve the case, only this time around there's no kidnapping or near-death experiences or anything like that.
So...all around, I think I'd say that this was okay, just not particularly memorable or really...important to the series. You could pretty much skip this book and not really miss out on anything important in the main storyline.
My Personal Ranking of the Razzy Cat Cozy Mystery Series
1. The Trouble at City Hall (Book 2) 2. The Crime at the Lake (Book 3) 3. The Thief in the Night (Book 4) 4. The Body in the Park (Book 1) 5. The Girl Who Disappeared (Book 6) 6. The Mess at the Banquet (Book 5)
Audio book. A good suspense about a 20 year old accident and disappearance of 3 young women and one survivor. A woman visits this town where the accident happened to do a podcast about it. The podcaster and the survivor were both so likable. I think listening to it and their voices made me like the book better.
I've read the whole series so far and enjoyed them all. It would be so fun to be able to talk to your furry family members like Hannah and Ben can. This series is sweet, the characters are smart and kind, no bad language or graphic sexual situations or language. There are murders, but it is a mystery series. In this particular book, there doesn't seem to be a murder. Hannah has been asked to look into the disappearance of a young woman 10 years ago. Many people involved think she's dead, but her father doesn't. Ben volunteers to look into the old missing persons file and Razzy can't wait to help Hannah track down clues. Rudy and Gus also have something to contribute. This series is just a really nice way to spend a couple hours relaxing in my recliner with my dog, Louie, sitting beside me. I'm kind of glad I can't understand what he says because I know it would always be about food (kind of like Rudy).
It was great that this time Ben and Hannah were able to work together on a cold case since it was pretty slow in the news and police business. The more they researched what may or may not've been a murder, the two wondered if they could manage a Christmas miracle for the couple hoping their daughter was still alive. I never really could settle on any one person who might've made Debbie disappear.
While I won't spoil anything, everyone did have a good Christmas, Ashley in particular! Who figured, lol. And Ben and Hannah were in their new apartment happily having Christmas with the most awesome cats ever. I'll be borrowing the next book in KU, but was happy to see I'd gotten this one a couple years ago.
It's nearing Christmas and it's the season for miracles to happen. Hannah is asked to write a piece for the paper about the disappearance of a local girl 10 years earlier, but as she and Ben, her Detective boyfriend, look into the case, things get confusing.
Book 6 in this delightful cozy mystery series set in Golden Hills, Colorado with reporter, Hannah; Ben, a local Detective and their 3 cats Razzy, Gus and Rudy. Hannah can understand the cats after a nasty migraine several months previously, and Ben can now too, after a spiritual friend gave him a crystal to wear.
These books are best read in order of publication to preserve continuity of the characters and series.
The Girl Who Disappeared (A Razzy Cat Cozy Mystery # 6) — Courtney McFarlin (18 chapters) Aug. 21, 2022
A couple walks into the newspaper asking for Hannah to solve the mystery of their daughter who disappeared 10 years ago.
It is up to Hannah to solve the disappearance. Her new ability takes her back to the day the girl disappeared and puts her on a collision course with a well respected retired detective from Ben’s department.
I really love this series. It has believable characters and lots of cozy vibes.
The conversations with Razzy, Gus and Rudy melt my heart every time and I wish I could do the same with my cat.
This book has a 10 year old disappearance to solve, and it feels more like a thread that ties everything together in the present with Hannah and Ben, and of course Razzy, Gus and Rudy.
I loved that they are going places together and help eachother solve the mystery.
Fun series that includes a well-written mystery that isn't obvious from the beginning. The main characters have settled in with each other and the overall approach is comfortable and easy to read. Pretty much follows a "cozy mystery" format even though Ben and Hannah are now living together. I'm hoping the next book has more about Anastasia, it really does seem as if she has a painful past. It's lots of fun to see how the cats have grown to be a family within their group also.
I love these characters. It is a great mix of cozy mystery and a dash of romance. I like that all the characters have something to offer. The cats are also pivotal not just there to sell the cover. Good twists and turns.
The Razzy Cat mystery series is so enjoyable to read. I definitely would recommend this series to readers who enjoy a good mystery, cats, and happy endings.
I loved the story line in this mystery. Of course, as always, my favorite characters are the cats. I definitely will keep reading this series. It's so enjoyable!
I thought the mystery was well crafted, but the logistics of the move were not realistic. Who decides to cook a big meal the day they move into a new place? The boxes aren't even unpacked yet.
