A lovely starters guide! While I don't agree with many of Mr. Dee's personal interpretations, I appreciate his acknowledgement of the Anglo-Saxon runes, even if he didn't go over them.

The bibliography is great, with authors I've read before, ones on my TBR list, and others I've not heard of!
I'm so curious to read where he found/came up with the interpretation of Tacitus' records of rune readings as tossing nine sticks to read what runes they form! This is the first I've encountered it, and I can't wait to try it!

The only real mark down for me is how repetitive the captions for the pictures are, often just rearranging sentences from the text itself. In my opinion, that room would have been better left blank, allowing the reader to include their own notes!
