Around the kitchen table
Sophie Hansen + Annie Herron

From the welcome page,
“ and that creating something (a cake, a drawing, a garden) is the very best form of self care”
I fell in love with this book.

I love how Sophie throws suggestions, like the Strawberry and Pecan streusel cake ~ which I might add I cooked first as she suggested it for the first Sunday session zoom that I joined in last weekenc. With the suggested rhubarb instead of the strawberries and I tweaked it further with lime zest as I worked with what I had on hand.

When I turned the pages and found Annie’s danish hearts I was instantly taken back to my childhood, time spent with my nanna making these exact little paper hearts at Christmas.

I’ve devoured this book, and related to so many things, And yes I’m counting this in my book reads as I’ve actually read it cover to cover like a novel.

Take a seat - there’s nothing better than my morning coffee outside

I’ve ordered a new art journal and dragged out my charcoals and paints.

I’ve been spicing up my afternoon coffee and I’ve even baked my sourdough with chocolates and cranberries.

oh the decadence this book has inspired in only a few days. Many more adventures will unfold because of this inspiring book.

Utterly charming, beautifully photographed and inspiring book, as I expected! I have all of Sophie’s books and this one is particularly lovely as the coauthor is her mother Annie, a talented artist who offers instruction and inspiration to sketch and draw with the seasons, as well as cook!

So much inspiration

I know I will come back to Around the Kitchen Table time and time again. The authors companionably deliver creativity prompts rendering the concept of the projects and ideas manageable in a way of enriching the day-to-day a little or a lot.

So many great recipes. I need to dwell on this book for a while.

Scattered art tips and country living.

A great book to dip into for inspiration and ideas. The recipes sound delicious and the illustrations are stunning. Made me grab my pencils and try a sketch or two.A real treasure.

I really enjoyed this book. I have tried the recipes, and taken artistic inspiration when I felt like painting. I like to also just flick through the book when I see it on my shelf. It's a keeper
